sandra: breaking news this morning. nine people dead after a man opened fire in it but church in charleston, south carolina. nbc's brian williams are reportedly stayed with the network but won't be the anchor chair. the department of transportation hiring practices at the faa after a fox business investigation uncovered misconduct and air traffic controller program. u.s. stocks edged higher after gina gallant's go slow approach to a strike. the dow futures up 10 points to a higher open.

i am sandra smith joined by lauren simonetti and nicole petallides. welcome to "fbn:am," your first look at today's markets. the latest breaking is and what to expect a day ahead. loren, you're watching reaction after the said yesterday. lauren: traders are saying the first rate hike might not be until december. train to nicole, you are looking at the nicole fit bit ipo. nicole: it is going up a little watch for the opening this morning. sandra: nine people killed in a horrific shooting. it happened at an historic african-american church. the pastor was among the big guns. people describe the suspect is a white male with blonde hair in his early 20s. the mayor of charleston says he believes it was a hate crime. meanwhile republican presidential candidate jeb bush has canceled a event planned due

to this shooting. brian williams reportedly not returning as nbc nightly news anchor at the conclusion of his suspension. according to multiple reports, he is now expected to take a new role primarily at the cable news network msnbc. williams was suspended in february for falsely saying he was in a helicopter hit by enemy fire in iraq. global investors meanwhile adjusting to spur the federal reserve's latest comments on the greek debt crisis. first to defense this morning pulling the trigger on raising rates, not pulling the trigger quite yet. the anticipation for what is still heavily better. we are all looking at what that might be. lauren. lauren: if they are not pulling the trigger. interest rate increases will be slow and may not happen until later this year if at all this year. future is now suggesting no great hikes before december because the fed has focused on two things.

higher inflation and more jobs. fresh data today at 8:30 eastern. jobless claims 275,000 people expected to a flat from last week. may consumer prices. expect the headline number to rise to half of a percent if you take out energy, prices to rise two tenths of a percent. at 10:00 a check on manufacturing plus leading economic indicators. sandra: lauren, thank you. time is running out for greece to reach a deal with creditors. nicole, you have been following the story. by the way, a deal is not out of the story. angela merkel says it's still possible. train for the creditors still preparing in case we see the greek xa. european finance ministers meeting in luxembourg. kris finance minister says he's not expecting a deal to be

reached. preparatory work for the meeting has not gone far enough and has until the end of the month to make a $1.8 million debt payment to the imf to avoid a possible default and exit the eurozone. greek prime minister tsipras writing that the blind insistence of cutting great pensions will only work if the country's already financial dire crisis. german chancellor angela merkel said in a bailout deal is still possible for the holiday moment. we will see. protests going on a grace period dozens of people taking to the streets to try and keep those pensions. in the meantime a big meeting today but now everybody's linking to another meeting later in the month. sandra: they will keep us guessing on this one. thank you very much. let's get you caught up on global markets as it does remain a focus for trading across the globe. the nikkei in asia done a full

percent. over in europe a bit of news this morning on the retail sales front. u.k. sales slowed by a colder weather in the month of may. that put a damper on things in the consumer was heading out as much. u.s. stock index futures are also lower this morning pointing to a lower open on wall street. the government isn't expanding its investigation into hiring practices in the air traffic controller program. fox business is adam shapiro has had the story from the beginning and here is what he has now. reporter: the fox business investigation originally uncovered cheating on a key test to become an air traffic controller as well as what you might call corrupt practices within the faa to try and stifle the investigation and the ongoing scandal as a result of all of that. the aviation subcommittee chairman, frank lobiondo sent a letter to the faa administrator

demanding the faa answer questions raised by the original fox business network reporter. the faa sent a letter the other day back to chairman lobiondo say we are going to investigate this internally. chairman lobiondo will have nothing about that. the response to reports of rampant cheating and biometric test, 80 personality test they are now using has been incomplete only after i come that the congressman, raise serious concerns, the faa asked an internal office with appropriate authority and independence to conduct an open-ended investigation. this is absolutely unacceptable. the faa tried to whitewash its own internal investigation. the chairman says this is unacceptable stepping into the fray of investigation. wednesday come to the d.o.t. inspector general announced he will investigate the faa,

dollar. the company issuing a disappointing earnings forecast for the current quarter. oracle reporting 70 cents per share. eight cents below the forecast. revenue standpoint of a billion dollars also missed the estimate. the treasury says the woman will be a new face for the $10 bill. finally, lauren. train for one lucky lady will be on the new $10 bill in the year 2020. the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment to ban women the right to vote. don't worry, alexander hamilton will be replaced entirely. if you want to pick the one adjoining hand, use the hash tag the new tab or go to h. t. t. p. s.: the new 10.gov. the treasury says the 10 is the next of the nascent security update.

sandra: welcome back, everybody. 5:15 a.m. on the east coast this thursday morning. let's get you caught up on global markets this morning. the world still reacting to the federal reserve leaving interest rates unchanged in the forecast for an interest rate hike by the fed until the end of the year. december right now is to let a good. in a show weakness, your weakness as well. retail sales data coming out of the u.k. looking at u.s. stock index futures this morning, everybody has this wait and see to see how the market will respond to all of this. dow futures up slightly. s&p and nasdaq down.

gunman described as a guy white male had opened fire on wednesday evening prayer service at the emanuel african methodist episcopal church in downtown charleston. police on a people dead at the scene. first responders for a big guns but one of them died bringing the death toll to nine. charleston mayor joe riley spoke with family members of the victim. >> i told them that this community sends forth their love to dad and we are all in this together in this community to help those who have lost a loved one and give them the love and support and encouragement as we bring this percentage just days as soon as possible. >> at this point authorities believe one government was involved. described as a white male in

early 20s with sandy blond hair, clean-shaven with a slender small bill. he was wearing a gray sweatshirt, timberland boots. a state legislator tells the press of the church's pastor clement today who is also a state senator was among those killed in the sudan. the church, my cold mother and manual is the oldest ame church in the south and plays a significant role in the struggles of the early 1800s. republican presidential candidate jeb bush is scheduled to speak in charleston today. he canceled today's events and send his thoughts and prayers are with the individuals affected by the tragedy. many members of the community as you can understand are very upset. listen in. >> these people were at church. and they violated the sanctity of that. the ramifications are way beyond what happened tonight. this is unacceptable. >> we want the entire community to pray for his safety for people and we hope this person

who has committed this heinous crime that is a hate crime be brought to justice. >> they are really looking for resolution. as we speak the gun remains at large. sandra: thank you. we will have more on that throughout the hour. turning now to the markets in the federal reserve and not raising interest rates for now. lauren, the indication is this will be a very gradual process. lauren: slow and gradual with the message yesterday. the fed worried about the economy not perking up and suggested it might raise rates once this year by a quarter percentage point they look at hikes that could still happen. they may say below 3%. still historically low until the end of 2017. at that proceeding with caution as they monitor new data coming in. a lot of that this morning. didn't expect they'd to be

sandra: breaking news. a horrific shooting in charleston, south carolina. a news conference will be taking place at 7:00 a.m. eastern time this morning. fox news shauna since kerry has the latest in charleston this morning. jonathan. reporter: good morning again. police still searching for the gunman described as a young white male who opened fire during routine wednesday evening prayer services at the emanuel african methodist episcopal

church in downtown charleston when police arrived on scene they found eight people dead here they initially transported to injured victims to the hospital. one of the victims died, bringing the death toll to nine. police say they are investigating this as a hate crime. >> this is a tragedy that no community should have to experience. it is senseless and it is unfathomable that somebody in today's society would walk into a church when people are having a prayer meeting and take their lives. reporter: the gunman is believed to be a white male and early 20s, sandy blonde hair, clean-shaven with a slender small build. he was wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and timberland boots. "the associated press" at the pastor clemente who is also a state senator is among those killed in the shooting. he believes behind a wife and two children.
