7:00 am
long-term. you'll do great. >> you seem bummed out from the final comments in the last segment. is everything okay? >> we continue that. >> greece's debt china's market and the new york stock exchange with so much big -- you probably missed this. new explosive documents set to reveal that the irs was not the only arm of the federal government targeting conservative groups. the justice department and the fbi might have been conspireing with the irs to find ways to criminally prosecute those groups. some think this is more proof the administration was indeed targeting its political enemies. was it? hi everybody. i'm david. welcome to "forbes on fox." let's go in focus to find out --
7:01 am
rich sure looks like a conspiracy. what do you think? >> you know this thing just keeps inching along. much in the manner that watergate did. it really didn't begin to pick up major steam until 1973. late 1973. leading to finally nixon's resignation in 1974. there were 125 million pages of stuff that went from the irs to justice, including information on 113,000 tax returns. doesn't that bother you? >> we spent $20 million on this over three years, and it's
7:02 am
largely been partisan and i think to rich's point, watergate was bipartisan you had people on both sides looking into it and we don't have that here. >> that doesn't defend or excuse the fact that -- it was 1.25 million documents. 1.25 is still a lot of documents. here's what one of the memos obtained by judicial watch states. in 2010 lois lerner and other irs officials met with the section chief and other attorneys from the department of justice and criminal division of public integ sections and one representative from the fbi to discuss recent attention to the political activity of exempt organizations. >> there are strict confines in the letter of the law.
7:03 am
i'm not sure they can willy nilly go off on their own and disclose this information, david. here's what it looks like. the doj under eric holder and the irs along with the fbi were cooking up some reason to put president obama's political opponents not under audit, but in prison. that is a huge deal. that is such corruption. it's beyond a smijon of corruption. >> the fact that the irs may have been trying to send people to prison because they had different political views is extraordinarily contrary to what we stand for as a country. >> they were outer to criminally prosecute them, and that's very alarming. to bruce's point, that is why both republicans, democrats, and anyone in between ought to care about this. this is very much a five alarm fire which we're realizing how
7:04 am
unwieldy a beast the progressive state has become and you may agree with this administration but it's going to eventually change and you do not want another administration to have this kind of power. we should all be on the same side on this one. >> frankly, when i think of greece far away when i think of china far away i think this is the top story of the week. i think the fact that there may have been a conspiracy to lock up people for their political beliefs is a real danger to our future. to bruce's point, that's exactly it. it's not bipartisan. the democrats are not jumping all over this with the future in mind per what sabrina says is kind of scary. >> we've had experiences in our past with this. we had mccarthyism back in the
7:05 am
1950s and nixon trying to do the same thing. it does creep up every now and again. that's why it's important to slap it down when it creeps up. >> the left tries. they always talk about mccarthyism and how wrong bill mccarthy is with this witch hunt. why aren't they sounding the alarm? everybody that's talking about this is wearing a tin hat. that's wrong. this is a violation of the fourth amendment, which guarantees against unreasonable searches and seizures unreasonable passing of documents to agencies that don't deserve them and unlawfully shouldn't have them. >> bruce, it doesn't matter what side this is whether it's democrats or republicans doing it. when you see this happening, doesn't it -- i mean it's a journalist. doesn't it make you mad? the democrats on the oversight committee, right before this report came out, they had their own report talking about how they didn't think -- that they didn't think that the irs or lois lerner willfully destroyed documents. they're not ignoring this here.
7:06 am
>> hold on a second. imac when you look at some of the statements by the democrats on this committee, it certainly looks like they're willing to overlook a lot of stuff that the inspector general for the irs was specifically saying was in violation of the law, right? >> that's right. and, by the way, lois lerner's e-mails have yet to be completely found, so we can't -- really can't say you can exonerate lois lerner via the treasury inspector general. he has said too he does not have all of the information. listen this is the problem of the story. so many issues. that's minimum. the irs is being used who are criticizing government spending. that in and of itself big fwovt, is a conflict of interest. >> i think that one of the parties that really hasn't stepped up to the plate here are the republicans. you just have this one committee with former chairman isa looking heavily into it. now they have a new committee
7:07 am
chairman. i think republicans should be screaming about this issue at the top of their lungs. why aren't they? >> well some are. suddenly this is want trif wral. this is jump the tracks to become big-time corruption. if you want to impact public opinion, you need to strip away the partisan language and start
7:08 am
talking about this in terms of what it means for our freedom. i think you'll get a lot more support from the public. >> john we had a speech by the president. i know there hasn't been any direct evidence linking the white house as of yet with what lois lerner was doing. >> there's an opposition ground game for a hotly contested 2012 election. we will be here to make sure they can't fully engage in this election and it may have had an impact in terms of who won. this is -- >> i think -- >> by the way, democrats in congress chuck schumer, al franken, was saying to the irs you need to look through this. the reason they're silenced is because they're complicity.
7:09 am
we had a lot of time when they're pressuring the irs. >> i'm sorry. the fact is if people should not in this country should be considered for going to jail because they had different political beliefs. coming up next helping part-time workers work longer hours to make more money. it sounds good so why are democrats bashing jeb bush for wanting to make it happen?
7:10 am
7:11 am
7:12 am
7:13 am
>> we have to be a lot more productive. -- has to vies from its all-time modern lows. people need to work longer hours, and through their productivity gain more income for their families. >> jeb bush is saying we need more americans participating in the job market and working longer hours, and democrats started bashing him almost immediately. hillary clinton tweeting out anyone who believes americans
7:14 am
aren't working hard enough hasn't met enough american workers. here's what bush said about that bashing. take a look. >> you can take it out of context all you want but high sustaining growth means people work 40 hours rather than 30 hours, and that's by our success they have money, disposable income for their families. >> is jeb bush right? if we had a strong economy, we would have more full-time employees? >> he is absolutely right. i find it so rich that hill where i, the woman who said businesses don't create jobs is the one who is criticizing creating jobs. we need to roll back job killing regulation that this administration has expanded that has killed people and moved them away from full-time to part-time employees. >> rich isn't hillary making a cheap shot suggesting that he thinks americans are lazy?
7:15 am
>> the employer mandate act. it's said to employers, you don't have to pay the tax if your workers work less than 30 hours a week. even the teamsters and two of the unions wrote to harry reid and said obama care is really hurting our job growth, and the 40 hour workweek is the limplg pin of the middle class. >> well specifically bruce, a lot of people are kind of amused to hear nancy pelosi when the government admitted that obama care might cut down on full-time employees. she suggested it was a good thing. here's what she said. >>. >> it's an entrepreneurial bill. a bill that says to someone, if
7:16 am
you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever you can leave your work focus on your talents, your skill, your passion, your as spirations because you will have health care. >> but you'll have a part-time job instead of a full-time job. bruce. >> i think she's right in one respect. most people have multiple part-time jobs. i think john ellis bush missed the point. he should have been directing this comment towards employers because the last labor statistics report said there are about seven million people who want to work nul full-time. but they can't be made full-time. >> santa barbara roona, there's no question that we have had an increase in part-time workers and labor force participation has gone way down. >> and one of the reasons for that david, is because of the kind of burdensome regulation that is washington imposes on the private economy. one of the things that he should really come out and all of the presidential candidates should come out and talk about is how we want to get rid of and roll
7:17 am
back some of the epa regulations. we don't want lawmakers micromanaging wages. we don't want them mandating benefit packages. those are all the things that make businesses no longer nimble and means that they can't invest in their work force and increase job hours or do jobs. that's what i think jeb bush was getting at but he sort of -- it was one of those awkward moments that didn't come out exactly as planned. >> john bottom line is we should have an economy that's growing strong enough so that if people want to work full-time, they can work full-time. >> absolutely. i just think he misspoke. let's face it. in bangladesh everyone works full-time all the time just to survive. we don't have to do that in the united states and that's a big positive. what he should have said is we we should not be penalizing work so if people want to be productive they will be pebbleized. that's taxation regulation all that. he just misspoke. >> we shouldn't penalize the employers who want to hire people full-time, but can't because of some of the new rules and regulations like obama care.
7:18 am
>> we need people to invest and take risks and create jobs. everything the left is doing is doing the opposite. >> the proof is that in gdp -- we had half 4% growth. we only had 4% gdp growth in 2003 and 2004. what happened then? government exploded. government got even bigger. more intrucive in our lives. >> the cashin in gang getting ready to roll at the bottom of the hour. eric what do you got? >> hey, david. a new push to cut federal funds after this beautiful wok was gunned down by an illegal who was deported five times. half a billion bucks to train 60 people to fight isis. 60. i kid you not. see you at 11:30. >> unblooechable story. >> we will be watching. up here first. a government official avoiding questions about her $26,000 car
7:19 am
paid by taxpayers, and she's not the only one. time to put the brakes on using taxes for this once and for all? >> i just want to ask if -- if you take multiple medications, a dry mouth can be a common side effect. that's why there's biotene. it comes in oral rinse spray or gel so there's moisturizing relief for everyone. biotene, for people who suffer from dry mouth.

7:23 am
are you asking me in total or just me? >> a local fox reporter in st. louis trying to get to the bottom of why a city official is getting a take home car, but as you can see, he couldn't get answers. right afterwards her p.r. person came in and tried to stop the conversation from taking place. all this is costing taxpayers more than $26,000. just for her car. more than 200 city owned cars are divvied out in st. louis. most cities in the u.s. do the same thing. john government waste. it's not just inside the bellway. it's at all levels. that means we have to cut government at all levels right? >> i would say this distracts. >> what bothers me post about what happened there is the p.r. woman getting right in the middle trying to stop the
7:24 am
conversation accident like it's not up to us. we don't have any right to know what is going on with regard to how they're wasting our money. >> yeah. this sense of entitlement is mind-blowing. look if st. louis wants to elect people like that we're going to be self-dealing politicians, then it's up to st. louis voters to fix the problem. >> bruce, even you think this is outrageous but giving these crooks or -- i shouldn't say crooks but at least hacks, a credit card you have no problem. why? >> it's what the people are spending on and what they're spending on and it would be like a homing device. i would like to see the p.r. person go away. if you get rid of one p.r. person then -- >> that's actually -- i'm with you on that. >> listen when our teachers cops and firemen can't afford
7:25 am
to support their families, and these guys are getting cars, are you kidding me? cruise control is out of control. this has fwot to stop. >> by the way, carrie, that woman in the middle who is trying to stop the reporter from asking the question she was ray former tv reporter. just putting that out there. tv didn't may enough so she went into government. >> >>. >> you walk into the believe.

they have marble flooring. it's something that's tangible and easy to recognize, and i think it's important that we point it out. >> i should point out that sabrina is in virginia and that's supposed to be a conservative state as far as spending goes. you should see what happens here in new york. >> again, all government spending is almost by definition. let's focus on the big stuff. >> last word from john. thank you, gang. >> our informers say this allergy season, will you be a sound sleeper, or a mouth breather. well, put on a breathe right strip and instantly open your nose up to 38% more than allergy medicines alone. so you can breathe and sleep. shut your mouth and sleep right. breathe right.

growth story. get it cheap. >> what do you think? >> be careful, though. not a transparent country. >> particularly in this environment. that's it for "forbes on fox." have a wonderful weekend. thanks for watching. here's eric foley and "cashin in." >> aid and abetted as the family of kate steinly lays her to rest. there's a new push to close loophole for sanctuary cities like san francisco and prevent them from protecting illegals. especially those deported five times, like katie's self-confessed killer. hi everyone. welcome to "cashin in." wayne rogers jonathan michelle fields jessica. welcome, everybody. bill o'reilly says throw them into prison for five years if they come back. donald trump says build a wall to keep them out. republican senator says sanctuary cities should not get federal law enforcement grants. not interesting interesting ideas. i say all
