and college. at this point, muhammad youssef abdulazeez is believed by law enforcement to have acted alone, he was the certainly heavily armed, he carried with him weapons as he attacked two military fundaments, a senior government official telling us that first shooting was a drive-by. he fired from his car into a recruiting office. in a strip mall, chattanooga police chased abdulazeez about 7 miles to a second location, naval operational support center, where abdulazeez fired on marines there the assault lasted by some eyewitnesses as long as 15 minutes, police shot and killed him there, fbi is taking lead, but, there was no warning, there was no intelligence agency that had any indication of any kind that abdulazeez or anyone else, was

lou: an eyewitness account my next guest witnessed the first shooting that took place in the strip mall next to the recruiting center where muhammad youssef abdulazeez fired from his vehicle, into the recruiting center, gina mull is joining us by phone, thank you for joining us here. if you will give us your car, count as to what you saw, this morning when it began. >> okay, it was about 10 before 11, i was getting the restaurant opened, i heard loud -- i didn't know they were gunshots i heard loud pows. one after that the other i came out of the kitchen, looked out the window, and then i looked out i seen -- i never saw his face or any kind of features, the part of automobile that

comes up, attached to windshield was in front of him, from my angle, i soon his arms holding a black big high power rifle, and unloading into the office next to us, there were tons of shots. lou: what drew your attention to the vehicle was the first few shots could correct in. >> yes. lou: we're looking at video of the restaurant, in which you were. when you saw his arms, you did not see his head or face. >> no. lou: how long did this take? the first few shots, that brought you out to the front window. >> first shots, it was not a minute long be before i walked n fronts of the building to looks whatever going on. i stood there and watch i was in shock, i could not -- telling me get to back of the store, i was

shocked. is this real? is this a real gun? what is going on? it happened so fast, maybe a minute or two. he just sat in opened fire, numerous rounds into the front of the building then pulled off. lou: you were near the front of the restaurant, how close would you say you were. >> i was dig nal, he was -- diagonal he was to right of me from where i was at complex, and i was rice diagonal from the car, i could have been 10 feet away. lou: how many people work in the recruiting center? do you have -- do you know how many? do you knows people. >> definitely, you know we came great friends with a lot of people who work there, there are several offices with air force, national guard, army, marines and navy, we see them all of the time. lou: it is a big facility? >> it is -- they is separate

offices and doors, so they are connected, you know next to each other. lou: and no one is -- as you were looking toward the car, you -- do you have some idea of how long he are was firing into the facilities? >> it was really quick, like i walked out of the kitchen, my attendtion was drawn to the gun, i know within a minute after he sped off whole ordeal 1 to 3 minutes. >> and did you and your colleagues did you go to recruiting center to see -- >> i did. i personally did, as soon as he pulled off, i soon him pull to main road, he pulled off i ran outside, with other military personnel there, two people that ran toward the road. trying to get a tag number.

there was no tag on the vehicle. i ran over to the office, where some other officers who do -- do not get is on the at, i opened door, and stuff in your eyes debris, inside of the building we were you know yelling, is everything okay? department see nobody right there, some military guys witness into the opposite back-end of where the cubicals and things but everyone got out of the building. lou: they were okay there. >> they were okay. at the location next door to restaurant, we had one guy who was shot in back of am leg, and everyone was okay, we were thankful for that. lou: thankful as are we all for you and er ern there. and -- everyone there our hearts go to family of 4 killed, two wounded. did you hear sirens went any short order of time after the

tennessee bill killian may beholding a press conference. lou: we understand that governor may come forward here in a press conference with the tennessee emergency management agency. we're also going to be following that as well. talking with car -- catherine herridge. since 11:00 this morning they started talking -- they the intelligence agencies and federal agencies -- about this being a domestic terrorism. they were going to investigate it as that. not declaring it to be that. that is a highly unusual response, have you not found that in your experience? >> reporter: certainly given record of this administration, something that we don't ordinarily hear come out of an

official's mouth immediately. the fact that killian said, right off the bat this is treated as domestic terrorism gives you an idea they believe there is a potential nexis to international terrorism, catherine herridge reports today there was a series of tweets set odd by a twitter account linked to isis suggestions that somebody was about to happen, whether or not that was related, we don't know. federal authorities will investigate that. i should point out too, time wears on, we get clarification of events sometimes that is gain through observation, i looked at aerial picture of suspect's car. federal official said at no time he was on federal property, it is clear looking at those pictures, when he went into

[inaudible question] >> i cannot comment on that. >> are you concerned about that we met. >> i think that this might be the most appropriate response to that. >> the police department is working with all of the local and state and federal agencies to ensure that every resource is put where it is needed. we are identifying this on an hourly basis to make sure that any identified areas that might feel horrible are addressed in an appropriate manner. all federal and state agencies are working together. across the city, across this country. >> investigation is handled by the federal bureau of

investigation. >> i need to check on my officers and find out exactly what is going on. and we have four people that we know that fatally wounded and several that were treated at the scene and also release. and that is still part of the investigation. it's a tricky thing to find out, those things can be difficult to ascertain. and i can tell you that there are no braver or selfless people than the chattanooga police department. i can also say that the officers saved many lives today. >> absolutely. if you have any information, go through the numbers for

the police chief, these guys were expressing considerable confidence in one another. some folks feel reassured and that is not always the case with the state and local folks coming together. >> for agencies, whether it would be federal agencies or state and federal agencies to work under together with joint terrorism task force and things of that nature, it is refreshing in turn refreshing. and it's hard to ever find a positive on the situation because it's such a tragedy. but it could have always have been worse. it's not for the thinking and the training of the law enforcement that has ultimately put this down.

lou: the fbi lead agency on the in negation that is now watching this unfold, john roberts talking about the fact that they are lighting this up. and we are told that there are going to be hundreds of investigative agencies coming into chattanooga. have you ever seen this kind of response to an incident like this reign. >> nothing like 9/11 or the bombing of 1993. of or is there were a lot of assets put in place there. but i think that a young marine was killed and another one wounded. and it didn't have this kind of response. there's a couple of things that i have in the back of my mind that he is talking about.

>> yes, it was. and what comes into my mind is that i wonder if there was something on the grid recently, some chatter whereby federal authorities and intelligence authorities and local authorities were trying to put the dog with another dog and trying to connect it to something and when this happens it was automatically connected. i cannot think of another reason why it would be such an aggressive response with 200 additional fbi personnel. they will send in i.t. people, additional agents. one other thing that struck me today is jim went to the white house to talk to the president about this. and i have never seen that happen. i don't think it's the wrong

thing and i don't mean to be de minimis of the activity, but i have never seen this before and those two things, i say in my mind that there's something else going on behind the scenes that we don't know yet. >> i think that bill is making a terrific argument in what is going on. and this is unusual. we focused on the fact that for the first time with most of our experiences here, to have a declaration that this is domestic terrorism from the very getting in the incipient point, it is unusual as they have been saying straight out. it may well be that there's something more going on than we realize. >> keep in mind that obviously this was made very quickly and this is an administration and past crisis of his likeness and so in addition, it is one thing

to have 200 fbi agents with the suspects at large, but thankfully it was put down and i think that that makes the magnitude of this and the size and the normandy that much greater than does make you think that there's more to this. lou: we have one other part of what is unfolding here as john roberts and the national correspondent has indicated, the two women from the house in which mohammod youssuf abdulazeez, where he is believed to have been living, they were taken out of the house by authorities in handcuffs. and so that is another part of what is unfolding for us to try to make sense of this. and this is what i want to get to. it doesn't seem different, we

are likely to get many details from the at ei which is taking the lead and we may be frustrated a little bit, and trying to get those details two. >> i think that they will give all the details that they possibly can, but as you know, they do not want to jeopardize any private investigation. taking those women out in handcuffs, they knew that something was going on about these two women and perhaps it unfolded as the case unfolded. but it was so rapid that everything just happened quickly and i think that there's more here to be thought about. the big thing is what was the trigger mechanism for this terrorist to do, and parents are going to be able to say something about that. who were his friends and was he really radicalize?

all of these things will come to life and i think that we need to have a lot of understanding and look beyond the horizon on this one to see how it really unfold. >> i think that the two women, obviously, in great detail, saying that the agents we are most concerned with is whether it might be part of this. and the other thing that is the treasure trove for law enforcement and these types of investigations our computers, desktops, laptops, electronic devices, they are taking every single thing out of that home and it's going to be interesting to see who he was interacting with on the internet, whether he had contacts, that is really what the information that they are trying to mine the next few
