take a few months. lou: opposition to the deal is a lot more widespread than the president acknowledged there. in fact, the obama administration's hard sell today involved sending defense secretary ash carter to israel to try to win over israeli prime minister netanyahu, who greeted carter in jerusalem with a handshake but abruptly scrapped plans for the two leaders to make public remarks before beginning discussion. take a look. it was to say the very least, a bit awkward. >> i think we're going up. >> okay, excellent. >> if you gentlemen want we could come back. thank you. no, i didn't want to. lou: carter later told reporters netanyahu, quote, made it quite clear he disagreed with the nuclear agreement. so our allies don't like the deal, and either do iranian hard-liners.
11:04 pm
secretary of state kerry admitted that anti-american speech this weekend by iran's supreme leader was in his words troubling. >> i don't know how to interpret it at this point in time, except to take it at face value that that's his policy. but i do know that often comments are made publicly and things can evolve that are different. if it is the policy, it's very disturbing. it's very troubling. lou: and the white house also not winning over supporters in congress who are outraged. the administration took the deal to the united nations and much before taking it to congress. we're going to have much more on that currently, congress working with 60 days in which to review the agreement, hold hearings on it, and then vote on it. another huge focus for congress today, the policies of so-called sanctuary cities that ignore federal immigration laws. it's not a new issue, but it was brought to the forefront by

11:07 pm
>> the man who killed kate is a classic case of multiple felonies and prior deportations. and a simple phone call would have been enough. >> reporter: but that didn't happen. >> a shot rang out. kate fell, and looked at me and said help me, dad. those are the last words i'll ever hear from my daughter. >> reporter: the house is expected to vote on a bill with holding federal funding to states and cities turning over illegals to federal authorities. lou? lou: mike, thank you very much mike emanuel. president obama today finally ordered the white house flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of the five service members killed in chattanooga five days ago. the presidential proclamation comes after critics blasted president obama for not properly uttering those victims. earlier this morning, republican leaders in congress ordered flags to half-staff at

attention to themselves. a criminal illegal alien knows if i steal from them or whatever, they can't call the police or they'll be identifying themselves as in the country illegally. they prey on those individuals. also american citizen criminals prey on illegal immigrants because they too know they can't report these to the police. we have a lot of crime going on in the sanctuary cities unreported, underreported and we don't know about it, so we can't help them. lou: it is very clear too, that the sanctuary cities are really one of the basic premises of the sanctuary cities, reason for existing a distrust of their own law enforcement officers. an implicit insult to men and women in uniform serving those cities in those communities. >> sure, obviously, with the police. their understanding of the police culture in mexico anyway, they know it's corrupt. and so they don't trust the
