trust, but verify and certainly don't contain anything remotely close to the promise 24-7 inspections any time. the obama negotiating team has basically, it seems, thrown their hands in the air and yielded unimaginable, unthinkable power to the iranians. we take up why critics are calling the so-called deal a document surrender on the issue of a nuclear iran. former nato supreme allied commander admiral james stavridis and james demint here tonight. as the broadcast long suspected he would, president obama today spoke longingly of a third term. it seems mr. obama can't get enough of being fawned over by the mainstream liberal media and entertainer activists like jon stewart, who act as agents of president's agenda. and the nfl commissioner surprised a few people.

the nfl considered the nfl's report paid for by the nfl, and chose to support the nfl, upholding the nfl's four-game suspension of new england patriot quarterback tom brady. we'll take up why that does not appear to many to be fair and balanced with some of the best attorneys in the business. lis wiehl and mercedes colwin. what's next for brady and the nfl? our top story, new reports the obama administration's nuclear deal with iran is a little more than what could be a tragic joke. officials confirming to the associated press tonight that iran refuses to permit u.s. inspectors in iran that the ayatollah wants instead iranians to collect their own soil samples and international inspectors apparently have agreed to that incredible arrangement. the revelation as the president's top diplomat was on capitol hill trying to sell the nuclear deal to skeptical lawmakers.

fox news correspondent doug mckelway live at the white house with our report. >> as i've said many times, nothing in this deal is built on trust. nothing. >> reporter: a new controversy erupted today that could further jeopardize the approval of the iran nuclear deal, it involves two side letters between iran and the international atomic energy agency that escaped the scrutiny of the p5+1 negotiators. the side letters might allow iran and not iaea inspectors to collect soil samples in iran's parchin facility. >> have you seen it? >> absolutely not, i can't. >> you cannot confirm it? >> i cannot confirm it. >> reporter: republican senator tom cotton and congressman mike pompeo learned of the side letters during a visit after a deal was struck. they want to see the letters. >> clearly two secret side deals between the iaea and iran and u.s. law demands congress

have access to the deals. these go to the heart of the inspections regime that the administration hopes to impose on iran. >> reporter: if true, the side letters would blow apart a talking point that the 24 hour day delay before inspections can be undertaken does not impede effective verifications. >> like a police officer calling a drug dealer to say we're going to raid your apartment in 24 days so they can clear all the evidence. >> as i've said in unclassified and classified regimes, we have extraordinarily sensitive ways of finding minuscule amounts that are left over from using the nuclear materials. >> reporter: moniz's argument would be moot if it collected its own samples. the justice department today announced the parole of convicted israeli spy jonathan pollard in november, ending 30-year sentence for conspiring to sent classified defense secrets to israel.

secretary kerry left critics with another warning father deal is blocked, iran's centrifuges will start spinning again. while today's house hearing may not be a ratings blockbuster in the united states, it garnered tremendous interest in iran where it was televised live. live television coverage of anything happening in the united states is extremely rare in the country ever since the islamic revolution of 1979, lou? lou: interest picking up with the announcement of the deal which apparently the iranians will be doing their own inspections and not permitting u.s. inspectors. a stunning development today, doug. >> reporter: indeed, something else to cheer about there. lou: doug, thanks so much. doug mckelway. the obviously organized efforts to derail the rapidly rising campaign of donald trump. "daily beast" trying to make headlines with a savage attack

on donald trump based on decades old allegations, part of a nasty divorce from ivana trump in the early 90s. for their efforts, trump's attorney has threatened to sue the "daily beast" imperpetuity and trump's former wife ivana made it clear she thinks donald trump should be president. fox news senior correspondent mike emanuel with the report. >> reporter: with the monmouth university poll showing donald trump building on lead among likely primary voters in new hampshire, attacks on him are getting more personal. the "daily beast" reported his first wife ivana used rape to describe a 1999 incident with trump and felt violated. trump responded today. >> it never happened. it was total nonsense, they know that. and maybe it was a lawyer tactic or something, i don't know where the hell it came from but certainly didn't happen. you would have heard about that many years ago. >> reporter: trump's special counsel michael cohen told the "daily beast" --

cohen has since apologized and ivana trump says the comment was made during a stressful time in their divorce proceedings and, quote, incidentally i think he would make an incredible president. as for the new monmouth new hampshire poll trump has a 254-12 lead over former florida governor jeb bush in the granite state and revealed new candidate ohio governor john kasich tied for third with scott walker followed by marco rubio and retired neurosurgeon ben carson. today walker was in philadelphia, the pennsylvania primary could be critical. >> you want to make a case in november 2016 you care about people's votes, you can't show up a couple months before it. you got to make the case early on. we're here to fill it out, pittsburgh and other parts because we care about votes here in the state of pennsylvania. >> reporter: while walker was in new jersey, governor chris

christie's backyard, christie was on the stump in new hampshire doing a wide-ranging town hall meeting with 150 voters. in the latest monmouth poll, christie is running eighth in the granite state and ripped president obama on his nuclear deal with iran. >> some people think the president is naive. i don't. i don't. i think he suffers from a much different disease. he suffers from the disease that believing he is the smartest person in any room he walks into. >> reporter: governor kasich is seek the capitalize on his strong polling in new hampshire. kasich put out a brief web video today saying this is what momentum looks like and invited people to join his team and make a difference for the country. lou? lou: kasich can speak about momentum, just joining the campaign and making it official. carly fiorina has moved up. there's movement here? >> no question about it, everyone is trying to get on the stage for the fox news debate next week.

a lot of jockeying for position. lou: mike, thank you very much. mike emanuel. a reason president obama's seventh interview with "the daily show" host jon stewart last week was a lovefest. there's a lot of love. here's a reminder. >> the media, you love them, they love you. so is your frustration sometimes with the media? is the media, myself included, are we focused on the wrong things? demanding too much of you? demanding too much of government? >> i'm issuing a new executive order that jon stewart cannot leave the show. this because this is a hoot. and the second meeting was in february of last year, hours before the president was to warn russia against intervention in ukraine. how did that work out? and stewart who seemingly worked in concert with the white house said this on his very next show. >> russian forces storming ukrainian bases, that is blatant naked aggression at the very least, disturbingly shirtless aggression, yeah. . lou: nato pledging strong solidarity with turkey tonight after the country called a rare emergency meeting with nato about the threat it now faces from islamic state terrorism. but nitto officials are calling upon turkey to not use excessive force, fighting between the turkish military and kurdish rebels is also escalating, turkey launching strikes in iraq and syria against both the kurds and islamic state of recent days and granting the u.s. access against the islamic state. much more on today's emergency nato meeting and the nuclear deal, joined by former nato supreme allied commander james stavridis. good to have you with us. let's turn first to the meeting on nato to support turkey.

what does that mean? bad news for the islamic state and the kurds? what in the world is the result? >> i think it's bad news for the islamic state. frankly turkey has woken up to the fact that along its 500 mile border it has a clear and present danger, a serious threat from the islamic state. i'm very hopeful we can all, nato, the united states, encourage the turks to focus on job one which is clearly the islamic state. lou: are we in any position, jim, excuse me, to encourage anybody to do anything? this administration said it would degrade and destroy the islamic state, it has withdrawn, it has not moved forward with attacks against the islamic state. >> i think we are in a position, in this particular case because of the extreme threat of the islamic state, lou, so what nato needs to do is team with turkey and mountain air campaign as well as encourage the turks and put

boots on the ground across the border creating a buffer zone, a no-fly zone, that's the beginning of the end for the islamic state. lou: what does it mean for the kurds? if they have boots on the ground, that makes the turks a clear and present danger to the kurds who have been the most effective fighters against the islamic state, right? >> yeah, lou, you're putting your finger on the complexity here. what we have to do is move turkey back to where they were only three months ago which is at the negotiating table with the turkish minority. 18% of turkey is kurdish. over the long throw, turkey is going to make a deal with the pkk and the kurds. we need to encourage that. again, focusing the turks on job one, clearly the islamic state. lou: we've had an administration again who said that that's job one, destroying the islamic state, and has in point of fact reduced, not raised the number of sorties

and attacks against the islamic state, its positions and in fact we have a subsidiary role in any offense to reclaim territory captured by the islamic state? >> lou, i agree. we have not done what we need to do against the islamic state, and it's not just the air campaign, today we only have 3,000 u.s. advisers in country. we don't need 150,000, but we certainly need about 10,000 more to get this thing moving in the right direction. it's going require more focus out of administration. much more than we've seen thus far. lou: jim, i've got to get your views and judgment on the revelations today that the united states will not be permitted inspectors in iran, that in fact, the iaea would permit the iranians to carry out their own inspections and if you will, self-report an

honor system with middle east nuclear power in the balance. is there any chance in the world that this agreement will in fact, go into effect? >> unfortunately, first of all it is a very bad agreement because of the verification regime, but also lou, what i'm really concerned about is dropping 100 to 150 billion into the iranian economy which is only 300, 325 billion. this would be like the united states getting a $4 trillion capital injection. this is very bad for the general state of affairs. will the agreement go through? i think the congress will vote it down. the question, is you might ask senator demint whether or not congress can sustain over a presidential veto, which is clearly coming. lou: well, that's one of the questions that we will put in the hopper, and a good one it is, jim. thank you very much for being here. good to see you. appreciate your views.

struggling with a frustrating reality, it seems to me. then a little taken aback by his claim that he's a pretty good president. i should be more grateful that his claim isn't more grandiose than pretty good. mr. obama hasn't been pretty good, you can argue he's been very much the opposite, the opposite of almost everything he said he would do and would be. the opposite of the image he projected as a candidate. mr. obama put down mr. bush, as a unilateralist. yeah, mr. obama has proven himself to be a greater unilateralist, expanding executive power, taking the presidency from the emperrial to the authoritarian. president obama vowed to regain respect from the world, yet his administration is a laughingstock all around the world, being played for a fool

by iran, russia, china and the rest of the hemisphere. in his campaign, mr. obama presented himself as a great uniter. he's turned out to be the great divider. during his tenure, race relations have profoundly worsened, 6-10 americans say race relations in this country are bad. mr. obama promised his administration would be the most open and transparent. it has been the least such, defying congress and the news media and denying access to government records at an unprecedented rate and level. but his most frightening statement today, his claim that he could win a third term. why is it so frightening? because it's so much closer to the truth than anything else he said today. mr. obama and our national liberal media are allies, and 40% of the electorate follows obama, it seems blindly, all of whom seem to care little about the direction in which he is leading us all. the constitution is all that

competitive primary season there's a lot that's going to come out about his past. lou: the "daily beast" told us about his divorce proceedings effectively. not so effectively last night. i mean, would you call that a smear campaign, a tack article on the part of the beast? >> i don't think it was terribly fair. lou: you don't? you wouldn't call it an attack piece. >> i would call it an attack piece. that particular article doesn't negate things in the past that merit questions. significant support of the democrats, support of the clinton foundation. trump university which are two lawsuits alleging he defrauded 5,000 students enticing them to pay $35,000, a scam run by an illegal university in the state of new york. those are things that should and will come out. lou: well, you just got them out. you don't have to do any more reporting. daniel, what are your thoughts about trump? front-runner?

fair game, obviously? >> yeah, look, everything is on the table as it should be for any candidate. hillary clinton, we should have questioned barack obama a lot more. everything is on the table. he should be able to defend himself, if not, he'll fall in the polls, if he does, he will soar. he has gotten to where he is by talking about immigration, immigration, immigration, trade and the debt. lou: how dare you! you make it sound like these are immaterial issues. >> no, i'm saying that's fantastic. and broken all the rules to do so as jillian was alluding and it's great, shaken up washington. voters are saying we have big, big problems. we could go to the bushes. we could go to the clintons to solve the problems. lou: that's not worked out so well when we've done that. make it a clinton or a bush, that's a brilliant idea. >> yeah, it opens up this whole new person, a whole new way of dealing with things, that's who

donald trump is and catching on fire and that's great. lou: what happened to rand paul? >> rand paul can't be the most interesting man in washington when the most interesting man in the race is clearly donald trump. rand paul lost his allure because there is somebody who says more things more clearly. they're saying things he's more intriguing guy. lou: can't the idea that john kasich, a few days into the race is in third place, 7% in the new hampshire poll. that's amazing? >> i think that's a bit of a bump. with rand paul in particular, he's got two major problems. first is he is typically more of an isolationist. and with the threats of ukraine and isis that's a difficult stance to hold. and trying to navigate the libertarian divide in the republican party, that's a tough game to play. >> that's just it.

lou: let me ask you, this looks like a conspiracy we've got to examine carefully. jon stewart secretly at white house? >> shows how much the president is afraid of ridicule. lou: daniel, you get the last word. >> you can't blame jon stewart for meeting with the president. embarrassing for the president to rely on a third rate comic for advice how he covers this country. lou: come on, now. even i find him -- he's funniesa the dickens, come on. >> he has a team writers. is he personally funny? lou: there's another person thinking, preparing, organizing. what are we to do with these people! >> we need more rule breakers. lou: we've got plenty of those too. anyway, a point of view, and we respect it. daniel, jillian, thank you so much. >> thank you. lou: a store owner sending a clear message to would-be

and delighted to have a talk with you. i've got to ask you first and foremost, the revelations about the iranian deal negotiated by this administration that we just learned today. your reaction. >> well, this is probably the worst foreign policy decision of my lifetime already, just from what we know. we know there are some side deals, and what came out today is a part of what's going to be revealed over the next month or so. hopefully we'll know most of what's in agreement before congress has to vote on it. as you know, lou, this is going to release over $100 billion that we know iran will use for terrorism. it will guarantee it end up with a nuclear weapon. it will spark a nuclear arms race in the middle east. i can't imagine a more foolish policy from this president. lou: admiral james stavridis, the head of the fletcher school

diplomacy and law on the broadcast earlier said similar to you, that the part that concerned him most is the release of the estimated $150 billion in funds to the iranians. talking with a former senator, i've got to ask you, ted cruise, a flame thrower, outspoken and conservative. did he go too far calling the majority leader a liar? >> well, i saw that speech, and i thought ted did a good job, a thoughtful and a civil job, and frankly the facts i understand i think his talk was accurate. and i'm upset by what's been going on in the senate. i haven't been there, so i can't comment specifically what's been said and done, but the heritage foundation said several weeks back that we couldn't support a tpa agreement because we knew a deal had been made to buy votes. so lots going on that we consider unsavory right now.

lou: the house you have to appreciate, then, kevin mccarthy saying it wouldn't take up the bill, the highway transportation bill, which ended in effect a lot of the -- whatever they thought they bought in the senate was just stopped in the house. >> i hope all americans will thank kevin mccarthy for standing up here because part of the deal coming up from the senate keeps this big government crony bank called the xm bank that died last month and trying to resurrect it. i appreciate the leadership we're starting to see in the house. lou: and the sanctuary cities, legislation moving forward to defund federal funding in law enforcement at least to all sanctuary cities. i imagine you support such a view. >> i do, it doesn't make sense for taxpayers to send money to cities to implement immigration policy if the cities are creating a sanctuary for

illegal immigrants. a quarter of the federal prisoners right now are illegal immigrants, and we've got eeven more than that at the state and federal level. hundreds of crimes have been committed against americans and we have 150 and 200 cities that have sanctuaries for those who come here illegally, and many commit crimes. so this is a ridiculous situation. we still have people flowing across the border. we can't have a country if we're not willing to have secure borders. so it's creating a very dangerous situation for many americans. lou: jim demint leading the heritage foundation, an organization working hard to preserve the nation. always good to have you here. thanks so much. former senator jim demint. on wall street stocks snapped a five-day losing streak. the dow up 190 points, the s&p up 26, the nasdaq up 49. how about that? a big day rallying on the wall street. 4.1 billion shares.
