the debate made her more confident than ever that the democratic nominee will eventually become president of the united states. speaking of which, major news which broke during the debate. interesting timing. new york senator chuck schumer breaking with president obama. now he says he will oppose the nuclear deal with iran. schumer, the third ranking senate democrat saying in a statement there is a real risk iran will not moderate and will use the agreement to pursue its nefarious goals. the move is a blow to the obama administration which lobbied hard for that deal ahead of the vote next month. schumer, who is jewish is a strong supporter of israel and he also represents a state with many jewish voters. employers, this is big news this morning, likely hired at another strong pace last month. the federal government will release unemployment and employment figures later this morning. the july jobs report hits the tape about an hour before the market opens. the labor department is expected

to say 223,000 jobs were added, exactly the same as reported in june. the jobless rate is expected to remain at 5.3%. here are three things to watch. first, will the labor market show some further improvement. fed officials, federal reserve officials said last month that's what they're looking for before they raise interest rates. economists expect the first rate hike since 2006 to come at next month ace policy meeting. we'll also look how many people are unemployed or underemployed. wages of course have been rising slowly. they will be in focus. stay tuned for a special report this morning with maria bartiromo on jobs in america. it starts at 8:00 eastern time right here on fox business network. media stocks in focus following the sector's worst two-day loss since the financial crisis. weak earnings reports stirring fears more viewers are cutting the cord in favor of internet-based streaming service, netflix, hulu, you name

it, they're moving to it. here are some of the biggest losers yesterday, viacom down 14% in one day. our parent company, 21st century fox, down nearly six 1/2%. walt disney losing two percent after it lowered the profit outlook for its cable business earlier this week. futures, those are the european markets right there. they're open trading losses across the board and slight losses in the united states. will that jobs report be a market mover? over in asia stocks ending mixed. bank of japan leaving its monetary policy unchanged. china's shanghai gained 2.3% to end the week up 2.2%. the best week since july 24th. a look at commodities. oil and gold heading higher. oil well below $45 a barrel. capital one nearing a deal to acquire general electric's health care unit.

[laughing] dagen: viewers at the gop debate last night taking to social media after watching the 17 candidates throw down. lauren what are people saying? it was, there were a lot of, almost a equal number of democrats tweeting the debate last night as republican viewers which was so interesting. it was just everywhere. >> so it is legitimatizing social media. if you might have been in doubt you saw it last night. facebook completely blowing up about the gop debate. things looking pretty good on social media for donald trump. trump coming in at the top spot in overall facebook opinion. also coming in, number one among men, and among women. and in the issue that thrust him into the spotlight, which he noted because he said it, it was immigration. that is also the top issue among facebook users and twitter users. twitter activity so hot last night, #gop debate was steadily

trending through the night and this morning. 2.17 million people tweeting that hashtag with top trending moment of the debate with the confrontation between donald trump and megyn kelly the comment about women, the rosie o'donnell trump. trump getting 1.12 million tweets. ben carson and carly fiorina, getting a major boost, currently at 58,000 tweets. at one point she was actually trending higher than the social media favorite which has been donald trump. fiorina did great last night and showed early on social media. >> social media is so great. the way they were incorporating questions from people on facebook. this gives america a voice. it is not like all the prior years. now social media, a, gives you a voice to ask the candidates questions. then you get to see afterwards what people think. >> i think as a member of the media, we look for different
