stocks in china rallied for the first time in five days. the stocks in japan fell after the country released economic data showing that shrinking. shanghai composite up almost 3%. >> in europe stocks open higher in the back of the gains in china and better-than-expected economic news out of germany. still open for business. ftse trading higher by 85 and the dax fell trading higher as well. nicole: which way does oil go. crude oil down 2.5%. 4494 something again amid concerns a slowdown in global growth. cheryl: there we go. gold prices slipping in overnight trading as you can see gold is down a fraction, more than $2. nicole: the dollar weakening. the euro, u.k. pound, mexican peso all stronger with the

proper money is now going to work in its positive so we see a good start to the week and it feels like that might carry on in the stability is there a little bit more. cheryl: do you expect the market as a point to a much higher open to correct themselves this week to the positive after last week's big losses? >> yeah, money will be there. i don't think investment will make careful choices after the summer, so a couple more weeks and we will still see what's happening in china. they were a bit worried today so i think we will see how that plays out. it does feel more positive after the panic we saw in august. cheryl: to your point, chinese exports down 6.1% for the second month in a row. that continues to china story.

at the same time the gdp revision in japan where we started down 1.2%. it was better than before. what are we following a look at a in the meantime, nikkei negative for 2015. >> china is the big story and how it will play out. china is trying to turn itself into a consumer economy. that is really to really. it is how the authorities deal with that and that's a big unknown with beijing. china leads asia and the rest of the world but it's going to be a couple weeks before we see the picture. nicole: thank you for your insight. everybody is back. it's tuesday morning, labor day over here in the states. thanks again, joe. now the trading desks are full.

>> the dollar trading against other key currencies. the japanese yen. cheryl: the yield on the ten-year treasury as you can see and your screen is trending up by 2.7 basis points. the yield 2.15%. nicole: apple fans, a big day tomorrow. the company expected to unveil new products including the updated iphone six s. the iphone six as plus. analysts look for an improved rear facing camera, more pixels and the like. the new iphone is expected to feature something called for sketch that lets you do different things based on how they price the device and company may also announce new apple tv capabilities with a dedicated app store. all of this is brewing so we can't wait to hear more.

cheryl: cannot wait. here's some competition for apple. a tablet for 50 bucks. amazon.com plans to release one in time for the holiday season. the newspaper says the tablet will have a six-inch screen and be half the price of amazon's cheapest fire tablet. sources say the new product comes as the company struggles to draw customers to its pricier tablets. the new one will be for buyers who wanted device to stream video at home and shopping at amazon.com. nicole: something we do all the time. general electric may be in the verge of its biggest deal ever. set to approve ge purchase of a power business for $17 billion. the french multinational company was interested in electricity generation, rail transport markets. general electric has been trying for eight months to convince the european union that the deal won't lead to higher prices for

we have this goldilocks jobs report which gave us no indication about which way it will go. what do you think? >> i'm surprised by the whole time we've had with many members of the fomc, whether dudley or williams and it's no longer playing the game. one of the biggest out there with the case for a rate rise this year. you can see the market reaction to those on friday. although the headline was weaker, all the sub textual data, the jobless rate, wages data was all pretty supportive of a rate rise in the stock reaction of the european market. trained to use sound to me like in september the fed will go ahead and raise right. >> and one in three chance. i think that's probably underestimation. of course funny people think it
