into breaking news this morning is the easy money era over? the federal reserve's open to today mean that could result in the first hike in short-term interest rates since 2006. good morning and nicole petallides. lauren: and i am lauren simonetti. here we go. but officials still divided with the u.s. economy improving the recent turmoil in the global markets causing officials to think about a rate hike. how are u.s. stock market futures trading ahead of the opening bell on this big day? the downside 15 points fractionally percentagewise. nasdaq down the same.

nicole: asian stocks ahead of the fed may be met by the shanghai composite index. 4.9% after two days of sailing. the biggest sale of bounces back and follows the u.s. markets all for that higher. lauren: in europe opening higher as well. cac in paris of more than 1%. ftse up by 36 points. nicole: one of the reason we see a lot of out there is this oil. 4553 but the trend here to transport oil prices also moving to the upside. tree into taking a look at how the dollar is trading against the currencies weaker against the u.s. dollar. the pound, canadian dollar, mexican peso and japanese yen stronger. nicole petallides if you look at the yield on the ten-year treasury right now, 2.27%.

what we saw in the market was unbelievable. the fifth highest level since april 2011. nicole: good morning and welcome to "fbn:am," your first look at today's market, the latest breaking news and what to expect from the day ahead and in this case watching the fed very closely. lauren: obviously close anticipating the start of the key meeting today with analysts completely divided over whether fed policymakers will do. simply the fed will raise rates for the job market and a growing u.s. economy. others think it will not pull the trigger due to concern over low inflation and the impact on fragile emerging markets. central bank or get a look at inflation on the consumer level as its policy meeting begins. there doesn't appear to be much evidence of inflation in the u.s. economy. economists are looking for no change in the index for august

compared to the prior month. the core rate takes up the volatile food and energy sectors only expected to rise a 10th of 1%. besides the interest rate decision, the fed will release the economic projections. nicole: lauren, i've been sending this to traders and guys who work with closely. the chief investment strategist just thought we put up what he was saying. if we could renowned up again. we've been talking with him. he said the body language as they are going to raise rates this week. lauren: but it's been a mixed bag depending who you ask. for every analyst who says they are hiking, another says they are pulling off the band-aid just yet. nicole: goldman sachs saying that more towards december you talk about the inflation picture. the labor market continuing to

as they want to get candidates really debating. hewlett-packard is handing out another 30,000 pink slip laying off 10% of the workforce. $2.7 billion will largely affect the enterprise services businesses. hp is leading to companies in november. the enterprise will handle the stock with a cybersecurity, cloud technology in hp's other business will handle the pcs and printers. the latest job cuts on top of 55,000 workers hp laid out this part of a restructuring that began three years ago. separately, general electric will move 500 jobs overseas out of the u.s. because congress did not renew a government program that allows foreign companies to borrow money to buy u.s. products. watch bowling in some of the other big names. nicole: those are some of the big ones.

investors look at earnings from two familiar companies today. fedex will report before the opening bell. but the leveraging of all reported profit of $2.46 per share on revenue of $12.3 billion we should be higher year-over-year. investors looking for more clarity from fedex on how plans to handle the soaring number of packages this holiday season. we heard yesterday from ups and they would hire 95,000 workers. fedex has announced shipping rates at the start of 2016. rates will increase an average of over .9%. oracle expected to post year-over-year declines in earnings and sales after the closing bell in the database software shifting business to the cloud where services are available on a subscription basis. one other piece of corporate news is microsoft taking its quarterly dividend by 16%.
