fatal shooting at tennessee state university. one dead and two wounded after dispute over dice game with two unenrolled males maybe were gambling in outdoor courtyard. the student is not -- the victim is not a student at the school. police blocking entrance to the university and requiring all nonstudents to leave the campus. >> well we had a global rally in stocks. fueled by signs of more economic stimulus coming to europe. let's get you caught up on global market action overnight. first to asia, all four indices in asia all gaining. particularly nikkei in japan up more than 2%. so a strong performance for the japanese market this friday. nicole: let's look at europe. much of the same is being at thatting on yesterday's gains. in fact the dax is up 3% in two days. we're seeing ftse now up about half a percent and cac up 1.3%.

>> after the dow powered over 320 points yesterday, u.s. stock market futures looking like this. as you can see the dow well above seventeen thousand, up 21 points in the premarket. and s&p pointing higher by two points. nasdaq higher by 18 in premarket trading. nicole: a look at oil and gold here. oil is hovering around the $45 mark. gold is 1173 a troy ounce right now. >> look at how dollar trading against key currencies. u.k. pound is stronger. canadian dollar, peso, yen, kind after mixed picture there for you this morning. nicole: safety of 10-year treasury bond, 2.04%. let's look at the tech sector. that should give the market as big boost again today. amazon and google are poised to open in record territory. microsoft's first quarter results beat analyst estimates and shares topped $50 for the first time since november.

microsoft was helped by cloud and enterprise businesses. google topped estimates and rose more than 10% in after the hours trading. google's parent company, alphabet, authorized a stock buyback up to $5 billion. 10% gains and likely 10% gains almost for amazon. it posted a profit of $79 million or 17 cents a share. analysts were expecting a loss of 13 cents a share. amazon made $500 million more in revenue than the company anticipated. a lot of winners, cheryl. >> hillary clinton on capitol hill for nearly 11 hours as lawmakers grilled her about the 2012 terrorist attacks in libya. >> we're going to find the truth because there is no statute of limitations on the truth. >> issues related to security were rightly handled by the security professionals in the department. i did not see them, i did not

accidentally did a retweet since apologizing. the tweet disappeared from trump's timeline. nicole: oh my. democratic presidential candidate lincoln chafee plans to discuss the state of his campaign today when he appears at the democratic national committees' leadership forum. the former governor and senator from rhode island has poll numbers near zero and only has raised $30,000 in his campaign. >> representative paul ryan officially declaring his bid for house speaker after winning support by his colleagues next week. wisconsin republican locking up support from three major gop caucuses including hard-line freedom caucus that caused current speaker john boehner to resign. ryan in a letter said we have the opportunity to turn the page. in elected the ryan will inherit a house with budget and spending deadlines on the very near horizon.

nicole: secretary of state john kerry meeting with russian foreign minister to discuss syria today. secretary kerry hopes the meeting with sergey lavrov will result in political process and power in syria allocated by people of syria. the meeting comes on heels of the unannounced trip this week by syrian president bashar al-assad to meet with russian president vladmir putin. now russia has been stepping up military operations in syria to fight unrest. earlier this week the u.s. u.n. ambassador calling russian airstrikes, quote, an interference in syria that makes isis stronger. >> recall of potentially defective takata airbags may grow even larger. officials from the national highway traffic safety administration say the agency expanded its investigation. it will go beyond airbags situated in front of driver and front seat passenger to include side airbags. more than 19 million cars made by 12 automakers have been recalled in the united states to

fix potentially dangerous airbags. nicole: valeant pharmaceuticals in crisis mode. the company plans a conference call on monday to try to call investors. valeant's stock fell 19% on wednesday, more than 11% yesterday. that has been a tough week after a short selling company accused valeant using a network of pharmacies to create false sales of its product. it plans to address the issue on the call on monday. >> twitter executive and cofounder jack dorsey, giving 1/3 of his stock, to the employee stock pool. that stock is worth $1,897,000,000. dorsey said it is to reinvest in our people. he was named permanent ceo this month. the unusual move comes as he works to build employ he morale at twitter after departures and

layoffs over several months. nicole: interesting how he is doing that move giving stock to employees. proctor & gamble is out with first-quarter earnings before the open today. the world's largest maker of household and personal care products expects revenue to fall. american airlines expects to post record profits driven by sharply lower over year prices. luv, southwest, did well this week. >> give us cheaper air fares, guys. here is look at headlines in today's edition of "wall street journal." u.s. plans to dismiss insider charges against an ex-sac manager. preet bharara will dismiss charges against a previous employee of sac advisors and six analysts. ua to turn its attention to gm contract talks.

who waited at citi field parking lot to cheer on their heroes. the mets will play in the first world series in 15 years. the mets don't know yet which team they face in the series on tuesday. it will be winner of al championship series between the bluejays and royals. they both worked out yesterday in kansas city where they play tonight in game 6. royals lead that series 3-2. don mattingly is out as manager of the los angeles dodgers. the dodgers season ended when they were eliminated by the mets in national league division series. both mattingly the division for him not to return as manager has been mutual. he has been dodgers manager for five years. cheryl: let's get you caught up on global market action. first to asia it was green day are to the markets there. hang seng, nikkei, kospi ending higher. nikkei coming out strong, 2.11% gain there. nicole: let's check out europe with stocks to the upside.

cheryl: let's take a look at u.s. stock futures ahead of opening bell here in the u.s. futures looking pretty strong on friday morning. dow pointing higher in premarket. s&p pointing higher by nearly five point. nicole: yahoo! says it has more than 30 brand name advertisers for its history-making live stream of the nfl game in london between buffalo bills and jacksonville jaguars on sunday.

the internet search giant life streaming the game between buffalo and jacksonville at wembley stadium in london. it. it will be the first nfl game to be solely delivered on internet. the game is played at 9:30 a.m. sunday eastern time. cheryl: we may have a grinch that leaves us seeing stars on christmas. for more let's go over to fox meteorologist maria molina. good morning. >> good morning, hi, nicole. we have two big weather stories to talk about basically the u.s. is one and also across mexico is the other one. i want to focus in on first heavy rain forecast across parts of texas. you can see with have large storm system bringing bringing in areas of rain as far as north as parts of minnesota and in north dakota. the big flooding story will be centered around texas. the reason for that we've been picking up heavy rain across the state. several inches have already been reported. some areas can see another foot of rain over the next couple of days. so again very significant amount of rain forecast across texas. because of that we have watches in effect, warnings because of ongoing flooding in place across areas this morning to the northeast of the city of dallas. mean while, as we head into the eastern north pacific ocean we have the strongest hurricane on record. hurricane patricia, maximum sustained winds at 200 miles an hour, with landfall forecasts

it all has to do with earnings. tech sector certainly one to watch today, on heels of very good profit numbers yesterday. strong results out last night from amazon. it reported a surprise profit and sales were up jumping 11% from a year earlier. the stock is set open at all-time high, above $615 a share. al a fa bet, formerly known as google, the tech giant beat wall street earnings on revenue and bottom line. they will buy back $5 billion in class-c stock. that will be another one to watch. checking action in europe, stocks fare edging higher on prospect of more stimulus from the european central bank. we told you yesterday that mario draghi is open to lots of options. that drove action overnight in asia. all major averages in asia posting gains with nikkei average in japan up better than 2%. mexico's pacific coast
