was killed in that raid, they don't have verifiable evidence that he is dead. here at home, law officials on radical islamist terrorists are reportedly bracing for more terror threats over the holidays. and agents indicate they don't have enough resources to track the rising number of radicalized americans who work for or motivated by the islamic state. the chairman of the house homeland security committee is now warning americans the number of people arrested for their support of the islamic state has dramatically expanded. here at home, we have arrested more than 70 isis supporters over the last year. that's on average, more than one per week. and the fbi says that it has nearly 1,000 isis-related investigations in all 50 states. >> we'll take up the worsening trend with general jack keane

and lieutenant colonel ralph peters. also tonight -- president obama blasting the republicans for suggesting syrian refugees coming to america pose a security threat. >> apparently, they're scared of widows and orphans coming into the united states of america. at first, they were worried about the press being too tough on them during debates. now, they're worried about 3-year-old orphans. that doesn't sound very tough to me. >> we'll take a closer look at europe's refugee and illegal immigrant crisis. and the president might want to pay close attention tonight to our report, because the demographics of the human wave crossing the borders, that wave doesn't resemble into at least mr. obama's rhetoric. while republican candidates aren't holding back, president obama attacked them today. >> you want to insult me, you can do it overseas, you can do it in turkey, you can do it in

foreign countries. i would encourage you, mr. president, come back and insult me to my face. let's have a debate on syrian refugees right now. >> how can we continue to admit syrian refugees when all of our intelligence communities admit they can't properly vet them. >> can anybody be worse than we have right now. you have people coming in. i heard as of this morning, they're already missing one or two people. they came in and they're gone, they're missing. i think it's a way that it could very well be the ultimate trojan horse. >> so, what is the breakdown of the syrian refugees already in this country? well, according to the state department, they are roughly 50% men. 50% women. and of those, nearly 1200 men, 40% of military age, 21 to 50 years old. and something the president refuses to acknowledge, that at least a third of those entering europe, reportedly lie about being syrian in hopes of being

granted expedited refugee status. in short, the obama administration and european government lack real understanding about the identity of the refugees and the way in which to establish their identity. and the united states is under greater threat, despite being an ocean for most of those terrorists. early today, honduran authorities arrested five syrians. they carried with them stolen greek passports. they were on their way to the united states when they were captured hone doran authorities say they have no indication that any have links to the accused terrorist attacks. >> turning to presidential politics. brand-new fox poles out on the state of the race in new hampshire. on the republican side, donald trump has built a dominant lead. trump is in first place, with twice the support of the next

failure of leadership in so many quarters over the past 14 years. >> yeah, i agree with that. i mean, i certainly have always honored to provide testimony to the congress. they represent the people of the united states. i don't take any pleasure in having to make remarks about my president, about a failed strategy, and about the fact that the american people are more in danger as a result of it. that that, i don't take any solace in doing that, but i absolutely believe that's the truth of it. >> this is, by our count, your seventh testimony before congress this year alone. >> yes. >> have you seen any substantive response in policy either from the white house or from congress? >> the thing that has happened in the congress on the senate side, as well as on the house side, is absolutely bipartisan support that we've really have a problem. we're aware where it begins, what are we going to do about

it? and then unfortunately, at times, we get into political bickering which took place today over refugees from syria, yes, refugees from syria, no. how do we do this? and that was unfortunate. we spent 30% to 40% on that issue alone with so many osh issues issues to deal with. >> chairman rice pointed out that the 9/11 commission, early on, recommended that never, never should we permit sanctuary for terrorists. we have done precisely the inverse. have we not? >> oh, yeah, absolutely. we did the right thing, though in afghanistan right away, kill and capture, eliminate the sanctuary. this thing here, we didn't go after it with the capabilities that we could do. we didn't organize this thing properly. i think was reasonable for the president to say, let's support the indigenous forces on the ground. let's not put right back in there combat brigades. but then as opposed to going in

to support them, lou, we get feeble support, incremental additions to it over the course of 15 months. not only has that sanctuary stayed what it has enabled isis to do is now have affiliation, documented train ago assistance with nine countries in the region. and a worldwide following where they're now beginning to undermine those who are attacking the united states. we still have that in lebanon. we saw is that with the russian airliner, and we saw it most dramatically recently in s an os a global strategy and is executing it right before our eyes. >> you know, as you're illustrating, talking about the terror attacks that they carried out successfully, in each instance, globally, they are also pursuing and succeeding driving a military organization, an army through syria and through iraq, with great success. and at best, it's a stalemate there now.

this is real, if you would, if you would, give us your assessment of how strong they have to be in order to do that. >> well, what they have -- what they've managed to do, they're conducting a conventional war in iraq and syria. they still have resilsillancy. they've receruited as they have in the past. they're able to provide support for the operations they're conducting. of course, they've got fierce determin determination. this has enabled that expansion to take place in 15 months. here we have an organization, and this is unprecedented, lou, they're fighting a conventional war, at the same time conducting terror attacks to countries of their citizens who are attacking them. that's as if we were fighting germany, during world war ii, and the nazis were conducting

clear. don't look for him to do anything different. i wonder if the president of france invokes article 5. that means if one of us is attacked, all of us comes together. george bush invoking it after 9/11. what will he do, say, sorry, not my problem. >> in citing that clause, the president of france, john hannah, declared france is at war with the islamist state. does that suffice in your judgment to bring everyone to bear in nato against the common enemy? >> no, i don't think it does. i think the united states ought to be pushing for france to invoke article 5. we have an awful lot of members of nato doing nothing currently on the ground in syria or iraq. the united states is at least in this fight, however half-heartedly and ambivalent as the president has been.

we need the rest of the alliance and their technology and their equipment in this fight together with us. the president ought to be leading that together with the president of france. >> bill gavin, a lot of the fbi are right now in paris working with the french trying to do as much french research as possible. also the fbi responsible for vetting in part the refugees, the syrian refugees who the president of the united states wants to come here by the tens of thousands. is this an agency that can stand up to all of these demands? >> lou, it's very difficult. there are so many different tasks right now for the fbi. but let me say this. i think that if left to their abilities they can certainly perform these tasks. it's the white house kind of

interfering with some of the things that disturbs the balance of what can be done. for instance, right now i know that in paris they brought the high-tech piece to the puzzle to try to resolve the unresolved issues at this time. they also brought the intelligence on a second-to-second basis, which really is helpful. lots of times intelligence is not relayed to allies until it is a little bit stale and not as useful as it could be. in terms of vetting, would be refugees from syria, he has been told -- the white house has been told it is not necessarily to vet these people completely. and you are putting the united states in danger by bringing these people here. it just isn't sinking in. it doesn't conform to his version of his picture of the world. and, therefore, i think we're in for another tragedy.

things are in play in the united states already. i have no doubt about it. and now they are working out the details as to how to get it done. we need to be retaliatory in our actions rather than listening to hollow rhetoric. >> to be clear in terms of my comprehension, you're saying the fbi has, has communicated to the white house the fallacy of what they are doing? >> i think the military, the intelligence apparatus and law enforcement have all communicated in one way or another that this, the vetting of the would-be refugees out of syria is not possible right now because we don't have the information from syria that would give us what we need to say this is high risk, this is no risk, this person should never be allowed into any country other than the one that is going to imprison him. >> as we wrap up with you, k.t.

and john, we're told a thousand, a thousand suspected terrorists are in view in 50 states throughout the country. >> right. >> all of these demands on the resources and the manpower of the fbi. and this president is willing to gamble after being told by intelligent, by military, by law enforcement that they have an incomplete picture of the threat. >> a syrian refugee goes into a place says here's my name, country, cup of origin. if that name and that birth date, if he doesn't come up on any data bases, he's okay. he may be lying about his background. that's the extent of the vetting. these are the people we are bringing to the united states. even if only 1% are terrorists or terrorist recruiters or

a few thoughts now on petty political correctness and the importance of speaking plainly.

the candidates appeared to talk tough on terror during their second debate held this weekend but they failed and failed miserably. they couldn't even muster the strength or judgment to name our enemy in the so-called war on terror. they refused to say the two words radical islamists. here's how they responded when asked whether they agree with senator marco rubio's characterization that we are at war with radical islam. >> i don't think we're at war with with islam. i don't think we're at war are all muslims. we're at war with jihadists. you can talk about muslims who are clearly jihadists. >> the term is not what's important. what's important to understand we have organizations, either isis or al qaeda, who believe we

should go back hundreds of year, children should be third class citizens, they are a danger on modern society. ? i believe calling it when it is, radical jihadis. that is what it is. >> well, no, that's not what it is. it is not who they are. they are radical islamists. the democrats seem to be so concerned with political correctness they are completely incapable of naming our enemy. instead, they cower, run scared from the reality that exploded in death and flood in paris on friday. they are perfectly comfortable with the o which also refused to call these terrorists radical islamists terrorists. but to truth and plain language about these terrorists, embracing political correctness to suffocate truth in our political arena.

luckily, we have emerging leaders who are breathing life back into our political debates and our discussions and who may well do the nation the great service of killing off political correctness and the mind-bending distortion of the reality that we must overcome. imagine this, if you will, as far back as 2002, i settled on the term radical islamists to describe our enemy. at 9/11, the bush white house refused to name the enemy. i put on the air lots of discussions with arab, muslim historians, foreign policy, middle eastern experts. i criticized the bush

president hollande. if you're in a knife fight, who do you want to be on your team, a file thor or a philosopher like president obama? france has been attacked. and he dismissed -- almost 500 people killed and wounded in france. and obama says it is sub. vladimir putin is helping him. this is, as you said, a geo strategic advance for vladimir putin. you know who is going to pay, the ukrainians. they are being forgotten. as you and i have discussed, lou, he is on his way to incredible influence in the middle east of a scale russia has never had with this shia iranian empire being built out. who are the losers?

american president sitting in a foreign capital insulting basically half the country? >> it's outrageous. i can't tell you more of an outrage by the performance here. again, on foreign turf, a former important ally of our ours, the philippines, attacking other members of a congress because they have expressed their opinions. this was a president going to come into office and all be together. these comments about being afraid of isis. isis is not afraid of him. that's part of the problem we face. we have to look at how we protect americans. we just watched hundreds, hundreds of french citizens killed and wounded. and these people are coming in. i would expect the congress to take as hard a look as possible with how we open the doors here.

>> opening the doors or closing them? >> we need to close them. we need to know who is coming in. >> but here's the thing that's irresistible just as a matter of fact. it has nothing to do with left, right, conservative, republican, or democrat. we do not have a state-to-state relationship with the government of syria. we are trying to destroy the leadership of that country. they are not going to be cooperative. they will not validate or help us in any way in that process, not reliably. let me just say at this point the president also vowing to veto any legislation to enforce the laws as republicans are putting forward and to ignore the will of the people. the latest bloomberg poll has over 50% of the american people saying they do not -- they do not want these refugees here. they want a pause. they want them verified. >> well, they need to be

major general robert scales, of the army war college. fox news military analyst james woolsey, chairman for the defense of democracies. good to have you both with us. and today -- tonight we are reporting that the united states has struck a convoy of oil tankers, general is. how in the world is this convoy permitted to be aggregated and then escape being shot up in all of the days and weeks and months previous? >> that's a great question. and the answer is the u.s. has changed their battle plan. and they have decided to redirect what little air assets they have against isis's pocketbook. they get most of their money from black market oil. so they set up essentially a convoy ambush in the middle of the night. they used ac-130s and war hogs

to systematically take the trucks out one at a time. they knocked out 116 before they literally ran out of ammunition and flew back to turkey. >> is jim, as former head of the cia, can you give us a sense of why in the world this president would say the islamic state is contained? we have the president of france declaring war on the islamic state. member states of the so-called coalition has been sitting on the sidelines. has this administration effectively been perpetrating a fraud through its rules of engagement and the fact that it has not struck, if you will, straightforward targets? >> it's really amazing. i mean, you never know where the distortion occurs can, whether someone is singing the song they think wants to be sung.

but my experience historically the cia calls these things pretty straight. up above that level at the national security council level, staff level, people get bothered because intelligence isn't supporting their view. and so they lean on the intelligence people to see if they will do it a bit differently. i don't know if that's happening top brennan or not. it happened to me. >> well, i -- general, let me ask you this. france immediately bombs targets in raqqah, syria. those presumably provided by u.s. intelligence because that is the predominant agency at work in that region. how could those targets be available? it's stunning. >> that's a great question. the answer, lou, is rules of engagement. the administration has been clear. if only one civilian is going to be harmed by a strike then the

strike doesn't go down. that's why 75% of all sorties come back with their bombs still aboard. and the french weren't limited by rules of engagement and they struck targets that, recent have been prohibited for strike by the united states. and the french took them on and knocked them out with 20 precision-guided bombs. >> general, let me ask you. the rules of engagement, if there is one civilian in that convoy that was ultimately struck, half of it destroyed, one civilian, the obama white house has said, the commander in chief said you will not strike. meanwhile, there are 130 dead civilians in paris, france, more than 300 wounded, almost 100 of them critically. is no one in that white house, in that pentagon thinking about civilians beyond those who are working with the islamic state? >> a apparently not.

because your point is extremely well taken. you are going to have collateral damage in any military action. we have limited it as much as humanly possible by using drones. there's just a lot of effort put into this. but to hold back on blowing up their transportation system for oil, which is their life blood because you might have one casualty from someone on the ground you didn't mean to hit, it's -- it's just -- it's not really fighting. it's acting like you're fighting. >> political and military theater, if you will, and one has to wonder why this administration concerned about civilians in raqqah, syria would not have been struck as trucks

if the feds say we are taking charge, it's immigration policy, under the purview of the feds. >> is there any other recourse for the governors? these are inventive and resourceful men and women. >> right. >> surely if their citizens don't want this there is a way forward for them to stop it. >> how about the fact that because they have this executive type of power on a state level they can make these decisions for public safety issues. we already know at least they tried that in arizona. so allow the governors to say, look, this is a public safety issue. we're not talking about the executive branch or immigration. we are talking about the safety of our community of our states. and there is a direct link. at least we know one of the terrorists was a syrian national. that is one of the reasons why they are up in arms. we can't do this. >> we will do more screening. we will ensure the safety of the states. >> what about this. to that point we know because syria, we're trying to bomb them. >> sure. >> out of existence. we are trying to destroy assad's

regi regime. they are not cooperative in vetting. there is is just no way in hell we could successfully vet refugees from syria. what legal basis is there to say you can't do this, mr. president. >> i think what the feds will say, all right, we in the united states, we will somehow vet them. >> how is that going to happen? >> those are b.s. words of this administration until we're blue in the face. >> but the law is there. >> the law is there but i think it's got to come in. >> let's turn to another issue. kasich, pataki and graham want equal time. it is not a newscast. >> the rules are really kind of squishy squashy on that. >> you have to figure out to make a living, don't you?
