includes a terror watch list. lou? lou: doug, thank you, doug mckelway reporting. turning to the investigation into last week's terror attack in san bernardino. a utah based bank deposited $28,500 into the bank account of shooter syed farook two weeks before he and his wife carried out the massacre. investigators are now exploring whether the transaction was alone taken out by farook and whether farook used some of the money to reimburse his friend enrique marquez for the two assault rifles used in the attack. >> enrique marquez purchased the assault rifles that you see. right now our major concern with the fbi, atf and jtf is determining how the firearms got from marquez to farook and

malik. lou: farook transferred a total of $15,000 to his mother. and the obama administration defying republican governors' efforts to keep syrian refugees out of their states. two syrian families were settled in the united states last night. one family in dallas, the other in indiana. federal officials say 15 more syrians are expected to arrive in houston this week. both indiana's governor mike pence and texas governor greg abbott are among the two dozen republican governors who object to new syrian refugees because of national security and public safety concerns. president obama obviously giving those governors their comeuppance in the dispute while demonstrating he doesn't care in the least whether texans or hoosiers reject to the settlement of refugees in their states. we're coming right back.

i have great respect and love, i have people they have tremendous relationships with, they're muslim, and barbara, they agree with me 100%. it's short-term, let our country get its act together. they knocked down the world trade center, tried doing it twice. other things have happened, there are people that have tremendously bad intentions. we have to be tough, smart and we have to be vigilant. lou: trump, causing quite a, as i said, a firestorm with those comments but let's put into context something here so you think that he did this lightly in any way. trump has significant financial interests and heavily muslim countries such as indonesia, qatar and dubai. trump makes millions from the various golf courses, hotels, housing developments that bear the trump brand in those countries. trump clearly, no matter what you think of what he said, not

afraid to put his own money at risk, his money, if you will, where his mouth is. joining us fox news digital politics editor, chris stirewalt. good to have you wa us. what did you call it? the five stages of trump-tation. >> we have watched enough of these incidents have donald trump is not getting enough media attention. wants more media attention. the president gave a speech. you had the attack in san bernardino last night. president's address sunday. everybody talking about what a bad job the president said, the bad job, the policies or problem, nobody is talking about donald trump. like an exo set missile launches out of his campaign, not a ban on muslim immigration, a ban on muslims entering the country. later he said if you are active duty servicemember who is muslim who is overseas, you are allowed to come into the country.

any muslims entering the country. it did exactly what he needed and wanted it to do. it blew everything out of the water. no more about obama, the discussion was trump, trump, trump, trump, trump, trump, trump, trump, all day, all night on every network. that's how he continues to stay on the lead on the gop race. lou: chris stirewalt, i would expect of anyone, with your capacities and character to define that from the evidence. apparently, your lessers, that is those others, other folks running for president, can't figure out what the heck to do with him, because it is a pattern, as you suggest, with this man. he seems to find the issue. he finds the statement he ignites a brushfire in the media and, by the way, when the smoke clears, suddenly the republican party are discussing issues that they never, ever, ever wanted to touch.

and this time it is the muslim religion, its relationship to radical islamist terrorism and what in the world is this country going do about it? i hear in your analysis a little rejection, if you will, of donald trump's view, and i understand that, but i don't hear and embrace president obama. the fact of the matter is he spent 13 minutes sunday. couldn't get an ounce of attention. the rest of the republican field can't find a way in the world to get their name in print. trump waves his hand, and the next thing disrupt aside, there is no contest if the candidates can't find a way to excite the imagination, the interest, and the focus of voters! >> well, look, i'm not saying donald trump couldn't be the republican nominee. i'm not saying it's not working for him. lou: i'm not saying that. >> it's working for him in that way. the only way i think he could

be the republican nominee is if jeb bush could find a way to drag himself back into contention and create a brokered convention, total disaster. lou: when is the last time we heard all of that fanciful talk about a brokered convention. >> i think the republicans will settle on a nominee. but what trump's doing is essentially, he's keeping his supporters close, alienating the rest of his party and creating this. there is a wall. trump has built one wall, and it is between his supporters and the rest of the republican party, and as long as a quarter to 30% of the republican party is enough to win the nomination, then donald trump is do it, i think, instead, facing an existential electoral threat. rest of the party will unite around a candidate. i think ted cruz is likely to be the guy and he'll go with donald trump. lou: he looks strong in one poll and not as strong in

another in iowa, still in every national poll, trump is dominating. i think you would agree. we'll have to see what the impact is of everyone, including the united nations refugee program filing into the presidential campaign. i have to tell you, i think if these -- look, he's the one guy in this campaign as far as i'm concerned who has stayed the same person throughout. this is the same man who back in may people were saying was just a dilettante. a flight of fancy to boost a reality show, and find out it may be more than that. here we are, just about six months later, he is the same fellow, lighting the same fires and driving the agenda. and you've got john kasich who started as mr. nice guy, got in last, and now who has become a demon. we've got jeb bush who, which iteration is this of jeb bush.

the islamic state and its sympathizers have killed more than 500 people in six countries since october and our president refuses to destroy the islamic state as he promised he would more than a year ago, and instead demands that we give up our guns as terrorists kill our citizens. doesn't make a lick of sense and took the president 13 minutes sunday night to not name the enemy we're fighting. radical islamists, mr. obama. radical islamist and added mysteriously and fatuously that we cannot define the war between america and islam because that's what isil wants and they don't speak for islam. what does that even mean? who does speak for islam? a 2011 pew survey found 48% of american muslims found own religious leaders haven't done enough to speak out against radical islamists. i don't think that's changed in four years.

the same survey found 21% found a great deal or fair amount of support for extremism in their community. we don't know the number of muslims in our country. it's somewhere between 3 million, 7 million, the president said 7 million when he gave a speech in cairo in 2009. we don't know the number of illegal immigrants in this country, nor the number of immigrants who overstayed their visas. in europe, we are watching as hundreds there, hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants and refugees demonstrate daily declaring that they don't care one wit about europe's borders and laws or culture. a senior german police official said some of those reaching europe are islamic state terrorists. the islamic state itself said they are sending terrorists among the syrian refugees, and here at home, the president has made it clear to governors, they don't have a say who is resettled in their states, but the head of the house, homeland security committee warning governors have a right to be

concerned. >> i can reveal today that the united states government has information to indicate that individuals tied to terrorist groups in syria have already attempted to gain access to our country through the u.s. refugee program. lou: why is the president not telling us about that? why is he not the one calling for action? why is all of this an issue of political correctness and not one of national security and the nation's survival? why does the president and the left think they have been somehow given permission to lecture us as if we were somehow cowardly fools, and that it is somehow immoral to defend ourselves against radical islamist terrorists and our only defense against political correctness is defined by the left and the national liberal media requires we open our borders and accept whatever the consequences, no matter how destructive.

come on! >> i'm doing my best and giving you an example. ben carson collapsed in the last couple of polls, not just in iowa but nationally. what we're seeing is a migration of his supporters, former supporters to ted cruz and marco rubio. all three of the guys they mentioned oppose what donald trump proposed as well, just in different ways and different language. that will be fascinating. as people leave the race or fall, where do the supporters go. >> the problem is that the criticism is coming from people who look like they don't have a back bone when it comes to policy or speaking their mind. the public says these guys oppose donald trump but don't look like they stand for everything. i would want them making tough decisions because they look like they can be smacked over easily like our president on the national/international stage. that's why it doesn't work. if you have a strong person

lou: absolutely. let's turn to first this war we're told that the islamic state will be able to recruit off of what donald trump is saying. these short-sighted remarks that he's making off the koffit teams. is that acknowledgment on the part they don't understand that is a vicious ideology that means to dominate the world irrespective of what donald trump does say or doesn't say? >> yeah, i think all of the platitudes are rubbish for a long time. guantanamo bay a false issue in terms of recruiting. people that come to the movement as you suggest have an ideological grounding in radical islam. they're drawn to it and drawn to the sense of purpose and adventure to do something with their lives, but the reason they're there is because they believe in what this movement is about.
