want to take a look at what, at least right now, this is what we're looking at. we've got a short session today. we're going to be up slightly at the open. we're virtually unchanged for the year. all the wild gyrations and that's where we are. it's been straight down for oil and it's been rebounding the last few days, about 10% off the lows. and we want to take had a look at long-term and it's been bleak and that's good news for you, of course, because that means that gas was down. overnight was town, and the national average hovering at the $2 mark. just about all of us have been shopping in the past few days, but apparently not a physical store. the latest retailing, a 6.78 drop for in store sales and foot traffic down more than 10%. and it seems like everybody is now starting to shop on-line, we heard it's going to happen, it's happening and there are serious ramifications. >> serious ramifications

because you have a number of chain retailers filing for bankruptcy between now, a lot of shopping malls being impaired. but a lot of it is more ron-- moronic marketing mistakes. on black friday they had more vacuum cleaners on sale than christmas trees, wreaths, were completely out of stock on santa hats. wal-mart out of stock on large santa hats and they seemed to have missed christmas on the merchandising calendar. if somebody wants christmas items they've got to go to amazon and for wal-mart.com falling further down the track, target.com falling further down the track and even in warmer weather, you can still make money, but you've got so many rookie buyers at so many chains, they're making a lot of mistak mistakes. >> wal-mart is one of the stocks that took it on the chin and they're trying to revamp

the whole thing, but as the mornings are setting up a competent website. is there anything that brick and mortar could do against the comfort and ease of being able to click on your cell phone and buy what you need to buy? >> charles, as you, ashley, maria, neil cavuto have said, it's leadership and retail. that's what wins the wars in the stores. >> and for macy's, they have go the next generation of leaders. ashley glazer and-- >> why do you love macy's so much and that stock is getting crushed. i know they defined the whole department store thing. but even macy's with the great management can't afford the sort of on-line tide. >> have not been banging the drum for macy's in 2015. i am banging the drum for macy's and nordstroms because of leadership and what you and ashley referenced, leadership

if so, do you think that ethan allen will be a winner? >> on-line, but know the on land. bassett furniture will be okay, bassett better. home depot the clear winner, clear pure play. >> retail in and of itself. on-line and brick and mortar. 2016 better than 2015 overall? >> 2016 better. amazon's going to be the clear winner. a number of losers. some of them just by incorporation issues, so, dollar tree buying family dollar, which was a marginal dollar player, you've got to wait a year. you're the best, merry christmas to you. black lives matter protest minneapolis, disrupting shoppers and the nearby mass transit trains. they've got more planned. ashley: yes, yesterday's protest at the mall of america, the biggest in the country, one of the biggest in the world.

they claim that was a decoy so they could block the roads and terminals. the protests of rail stations are victimizing people on probably one of the busiest shopping and travel days of the year, people who missed planes and they say that they're going to be back again to create havoc, unfortunately an a number of stores, many stores forced to shut down at least an hour and a half on a day when they count on to generate sales. so there's been quite a bit of backlash. >> the city is in an odd predicament here. they went to court and the judge said i can stop the leaders, but i can't stop people going into the mall to protest, so be it. you've got mostly young people peacefully protesting. ashley: they're going to have to tread a careful line. the protests yesterday, they were peaceful. there wasn't any report of injuries or violence of any sort. people were arrested, but i think the longer this goes on,

the more the anger and the backlash is-- >> i think they're doing themselves a huge disservice, whatever their cause is. >> they're hurting people, and business people. >> let's bring in the former candidate and governor of arkansas. i think that the young people are misdirected instead of fighting capitalism, what's in their hearts and on the biggest shopping day, what do you think of it all. >> i think that what you've said is exactly right, this is going to hurt the cause, whatever the cause is. sometimes you have a hard time sort of sorting through it. experience shows that a lot of these protests are led by people who are professional protesters, i call it the rent-a-mob. they may be able to gather up some people, but the leaders and organizers are professionals. i've been many places where police officers say we know who these people, they go to the g7, the climate change, republican and democratic conventions, they're

professional protesters and they don't know what they're against. they show up because it's better than working. >> i believe that the folks in charge, the george soros' of the worlds have an anti-capital and anti-american agenda and they know how to use the rage of young people. i remember out here, watching them on walkie-talkies, it was organized and professionals, not just sing-- angry kids. i want you to watch or listen to this franklin graham is leaving the republican party. >> i'm so disappointed in the leadership of all of our parties. our nation is in trouble, it's a mess. starting january 5th i'm going to all the capitols, state capitols and holding meetings. i felt it was best for me not to be aligned with any party.

>> it looks like an evangelical exodus from the g.o.p. i heard comments from you that echo his sentiments. >> i think so many of us, as republicans, are just outraged at the budget deal, sort of the last straw for franklin graham and i think for many people. let me stay a compliment to franklin graham, i don't know anyone who is a believer and lives authentically, and one of my heroes in the world of faith. all the things that people did to get the republicans in power, they funded planned parenthood, and foreigners taking american jobs, and funded syrian refugee, and obamacare. they gave the democrats everything they wanted. all the republicans got was a lump of coal in their stockings. people are sick of it. the republicans did one thing,

>> the bodies of six americans killed in afghanistan are back home today. i want to bring in morgan ortega. we've only seen two paragraph responses from the white house. what is your take on this lack of response? >> it's very sad. it's incredibly difficult to read the reports on the six airmen coming homement for the men and women to know that they died fighting for their country and for a noble cause and that, you know, as so close to christmas, it's a horrible time to lose a family member, anytime is bad to lose a family member, but this close to the holiday. i want the families of those men and women know that we appreciate their service, this is the single biggest loss of life since combat ended a year ago. charles: one of the guys was a police officer here in new york, a reservist apparently serving his third tour.

that sort of commitment and patriotism, i don't think it's promoted and i don't think it's certainly not put on the pedestal and it should come from the white house first and foremost and the rest of americans understand what is at stake and what they do for us. >> i agree. when i read the story one of the things i'm going to do is take time to donate to causes related to military families that are important to me. the elizabeth dole foundation helps people who are care givers who come home and their husband or wife are injured in afghanistan or in iraq. i think today as all of us are watching fox business let's take time to support our military families. they're not getting the support they need and should have gotten from the white house, unfortunately. >> in the meantime though, president obama enis vacationin in hawaii and a lot of people say he deserves to take a vacation. i don't know, this is where he makes a 40-foot putt.

he's having fun, good stuff, but really? really? at this time during this period in america? i don't think this is what i want to see from my commander-in-chief. >> i think unfortunately, over the past several years, we've seen it, especially the past year or two we've seen a lot of instances where the president seems to be a bit tone deaf and doesn't understand what the majority of americans are feeling. today i certainly don't speak on behalf of the navy, but i am a navy reservist and spent 2007, thanksgiving in baghdad with the u.s. state kept. i know what it's like to be overseas during the holiday and your worst nightmare is you're going to have a loved one that's not making it home for the holidays. no matter what the president has said these people are heroes, your fellow men and women of the military support you and support the families

deported did not qualify for asylum. i think this should be consistent from the dhs, they came here illegally, didn't qualify for asylum, why should they stay. charles: and the president's executive order muddies the waters here a little here. but, this is odd because he was pretty adamant about the visual aspect of it and start seeing it next week when some of the families are ripped apart and torn from their homes because they're here illegally. >> the interesting thing for me is how did they get across the border in the first place? there are still flaws within our system that we're not addressing. i'm sympathetic, but there's an asylum process and looks like they did not follow that process. charles: our borders are so pourous, it may be easier to walk in. >> happy festivus.

we're not able to even touch that area. but charles, really fighting down there. that's a technical thing. i wouldn't be least bit surprised to see fuss back above $40 so many people struggling in that market. >> ultimately jared vaish launched this war on american frackers, an maybe iran, and then they surprised again with the most recent opec meeting, at some point ting they're going to have to blink if it gets above 45, $50? >> they're -- i feel like opec is in a moment of desperation what they did, you can feel it. this is not a position of strength or o'pack they no longer have the amount of control they did years ago. by the way opec can't predict oil. in 2012 they said trying to keep it around $100 they didn't do that too well. i do think they're in a pickle and in materials of oil prices moving forward i think 45 to 50 is going to be a very difficult level as the high to get through in 2016 because of the supply, and you know, about what, track reverse getting better and prices are coming down so

competition remains. rng what do you think? >> hyperextension and hypermature markets, that's the concern but opec just now saying you may not see $100 oil any time soon until 2040. >> gaitered is right when you get prediction like that. i don't pay them much money. who is oil going from 110 to 30. >> goldman sachs. saying 30. so bad thriewz for some travelers nicole, hi, say they found mall war in their payment systems? >> so much that goes behind this story. first the stock down about half of one percent dropping about 25 cent pps investigating breach on payment processing system. but here's the thing, they have 627 properties worldwide. and there's still a lot of uncertainty. they can say how many properties of those 627 have been affected. they're not able to stay how long this has been going on. the investigation is still
