tv Cashin In FOX Business December 27, 2015 9:30am-10:01am EST
9:30 am
peanut butter and jelly in cellophane, i don't use tupperwa tupperware. >> that's it for "forks bes on fox." thank you, everybody. >> you've been watching television for the last month, all you've been seeing, all you've been hearing about is these guys with masks or black flags who are potentially coming to get you. and so i understand why people are concerned about it. >> if you're afraid of isis and terror attacks like the one in california, the president doesn't want you to blame the way his administration is handling the threat. no, he suggests you blame the media. but should he be blaming his administration's failed policy instead? hi, everyone. welcome to "cashing in."
9:31 am
welcome, everybody. who is to blame for americans worrying about isis? >> well if, you're to ask president obama, it's everyone except him. he never takes responsibility for his actions. he needs to say, hey, i made a mistachlt i didn't take the threat seriously. we had a bad strategy. he makes it seem as though americans shouldn't be all that concerned. but the media is the one who is really hyping up the story. but that's not fair to say. americans are seeing terrorist attacks happening in their back yards in california, in tennessee, in texas in mi minneapolis aloerngs ten people were arrest ford trying to join isis or having ties to isis. so this is not some threat that the media has made up. this is a real threat that he is not taking seriously. >> right. president obama blaming the media. you see tv and guys in black masks and killing everyone. guess what? people are dying, juan. >> yeah. gee, i think more people are dying by gunfire on the street corner. more people are dying --
9:32 am
>> they have president obama saying -- >> in other words, what the president is saying, yes, there is a terrorist threat. but let's be proportionate. let's not have a media that is ratings hungry feasting and scaring the day lights out of people with fear mongering. >> john, is it true that's what they're doing, the media is fear mongering the isis threat or are americans really worried? because you look at all the polls, americans are worried about isis. >> it's actually a subtle smear. three people in capitalism and people in media, they're out for the ratings. they're not giving you the truth. the truth is as michelle talked about is that there's been nine plus either attempt order successful islamist attacks in america this year. we spend billions of dollars, i don't know how many lives and the president has the gall to blame the media? >> i don't think that's actually incaptain la encapsulates what president obama is talking b he is voicing frugs strags with the fact that the media refuses to acknowledge that his strategy is exactly the
9:33 am
same straty that majority of the gop candidates are espousing. >> we're talking about the media that's in love with him. okay? >> let's talk about. that he's obviously not doing that. >> this is not about love. >> let's just talk about what the president said. the president said the media is overblowing the isis threat and scaring americans. the reason 20 million people tuned into the last gop debate is because it was on national security terror and the threat to the home land. it want . >> it's about the donald trump show, the gop debate. it would have rated higher than the saturday night debate. >> are americans worried about isis, yes or no? president obama doesn't seem to think so. >> that's not true. he even admit thaed didn't realize the american populous was concerned as he they are now. >> he didn't realize how out of touch are you to not realize that americans are scared?
9:34 am
>> did he admit as jessica points out or did he make fun of the fact that he said i should be watching more cable news because they really didn't tap into the americans' anxiety over the isis. >> he seems to minimize it. only government can keep us safe. we're scared. people are scared. tv viewers can't drop bombs or plan attacks. that's what the kmanter in chief's job s that's why he is a civilian. he is supposed to reflect the civilian perspective and fears. you know what? despite this grand strategy we keep hearing about that no one seems to be able to explain, they're scared because the strategy is not working. >> everybody can tell you what the strat j is. i told you week after week what the strategy s you don't want to listen. >> and how is it working? >> what do you mean how it is working? what has your side got? >> whoa. it's not a two sided thing. this is not an our side-your side thing. san bernardino, 14 people dead. that's how it's working out. >> we have a threat.
9:35 am
and so the president was wrong in underestimating the fear in the american populous. you know michelle, when you say he was out of touch, i agree with you. but let me just say that when jessica says guess what? we need a strategy that aeffective. everybody can throw-in the pot what that strategy s they don't have a strategy different than what the president is doing. >> hold on, juan. >> the only candidate saying he wants -- >> let's do. this president obama also raising eyebrows when he sthaid this about isis. >> this is not an organization that can destroy the united states. this is not a huge industrial power that can pose great risk to us. institutionally, they can hurt us and they can hurt our people and our families. so i understand why people are
9:36 am
worried. >> john, it's a false argument. i don't think anyone thinks isis is going to come over here and take over the united states of america. however, their influence can kill americans from within. am i wrong, john? >> their culture k. eric. that mentality can. listen, to the president's point, if they're not a great industrial power, why can they hurt us? why can't we destroy them snt president seems to be nonchalant. you know, there is guys that want to come over here and murder americans and are trying to overthrow this country. that is something you cannot be nonchalant about. i don't that is acceptable. >> you are willing to risk thousands of americans lives every month? are you willing to invest money in the way we invested in iraq? are you willing to have that kind of cost? i don't think it makes sense. >> your straw man and false choices and we have to get rid of those for 2016. >> okay. give me the real choices.
9:37 am
listen, i'm all ears. >> i'll tell you, one choice is not to blame the media, juan. >> you don't want to talk about the real -- >> juan, hold on. go ahead, john. >> i've been advocating for no holds barred to ted cruz making the sand glow in the middle east. >> you think the carpet bombing, that's the american way and that's infecti ieffective strat doesn't encourage the social media that -- >> that's just it. let me just make the point. if everyone's problem but the president's. >> it's bloggers' problems, poverty's problem. >> liberals say it has to be 50,000 or 100,000 troops. that's or nothing. as many of the gop -- many of the gop candidates point out, it could be 2,000. it could be assistance and
9:38 am
advisors. >> okay. i think the major problem here is juan and jeff keep saying that president obama has a strategy. he's going to work with the region, et cetera. but the problem is we have a president who doesn't seem interested in actually combatting isis. if you're an ally in the region, where are you going take this threat seriously when president obama doesn't even seem like he's that interested in the threat? he is enthusiastic and -- force. >> why don't they fight -- why do you always put america in the position of being the blame, the bad guy? let them fight their fight. what is wrong with these arab countries? why shouldn't they be outraged? >> hold on. it is my understand thagt liberals are now looking for more fighting in the middle east? my mind is going to blow right now. i remember the hate that was thrown at george bush for going in to desert storm. now all of a sudden, we should be doing more, juan. >> i thought you were on the side of taking out isis. >> can i just answer? >> yes, go ahead. >> the policy should be that of
9:39 am
self interest. american self interest. >> go. >> yes, i think when americans are being threatened, are being beheaded and seeing islamist terrorist attacks in the homeland, that's a problem only the president can address and it's not the media's fault. >> all right. >> he's not interested. he's interested in climate change and immigration. >> that's so unfair, michelle. you act like this man is hugely intelligent man can't walk and chew gum. it's ridiculous. >> i think he wants to maintain the status quo and hand it over to -- >> it's not just the status quo. he is increasing our role in the region. i return to my original point. what he is offering that is any different? you take hillary clinton's plan which includes the no fly zone and you have border -- >> it's not working. >> build a wall and isis will disappear. it's ludicrous. it's insanity to use that as an excuse. >> dl are other ideas. >> what are the other ideas? >> i'll tell you an idea. here's an idea. push isis back into syria and let them hash it out in syria.
9:40 am
that is an idea. >> what do you it this kurds are doing? they're not doing enough. you have come up with this -- >> got to go. stay in touch. just wake up americans to all your social media comments and tweets. twitter was a top ten political site in 2015 for a reason. you're a powerful voice. coming up, outrage over ted cruz and his kids. one newspaper depicting young daughters as monkeys. you're about to see for yourself. would the media ever do this for a liberal running for president?
9:44 am
freedom of speech or going too far snt "washington post" under fire for this cartoon depicting ted cruz's daughters as leash dancing monkeys. the post took down the picture. but do you think they would have done this to the president's or any other liberal's kids? >> eric, there is a precedent of that. obama's kids have been called not classy and you remember chelsea clinton was completely made fun of back in 1992. the republicans as well and giuliani's kids and sarah palin's kids, of course. the irony is that not only is it inconsequential with the ideas, it helps them. ted cruz is fund-raising off these efforts. it looks bad for those that put forth this material and it's helping cruz finally and in term of his exposure as well.
9:45 am
>> can i interrupt? jonathan, exactly right. exactly right. >> how about this? how about leaving the kids off-limits? how about across the board, doesn't matter right, left, doesn't matter. leave the kids out of it. >> i think it's interesting. this is a first amendment issue. we have republicans flipping out about the mohammed drawing contest. this is the same principal. now it appears they need a safe space which us liberals and we need to live in our little walled environment where everything is peacy and fantastic. >> are you suggesting children should be not -- they should ab loud to do cartoons with children in them. >> there is a precedent of this. if everyone would agree to moratorium on making fun of children i am all for it. >> it's just common sense. >> i mean it's not just making fun of children. there is a bit of racism here. we're talking about a hispanic family and you have them depicted as monkeys. if someone were to do that to president obama's children, it would be an outrage.
9:46 am
it's not just mean, it's racist. and i think it's ridiculous that, you know, "the washington post" editor said we didn't see this when it was published. >> come on. >> it's the policy to leave children out of it. i failed to look at this cartoon brit was published. i see why they thought a policy was warntded in this case. i do not agree. what the heck does that mean? >> i think he means that they made a mistake and he's embarrassed. he should be embarrassed. i don't that i is a fault of "the washington post." i say that as an alumnist institution. it's very interesting. i'm really taken by what we've all had to say about. this i'm reminded at the start of 2015 charlie hebdo. their a sa tearical magazine. if you want to mock mohammed, why not? but i don't like this. i think that for our standards
9:47 am
as americans, it was over the top. it jumped the shark. >> if there were anyone on the left, the media would be outraged that someone on the left was -- >> okay. >> i think it's strange that liberals are all about aggression and everything is racist and all of a sudden we have a clearly racist depiction of these children. liberals, you know, the woman seems fine it with. so what? >> i just think that -- >> come on! >> the whole approach i think of playing victim to this media, i think it's quite weak. if you got the bully pulpit, use it. freed om of speech means the freedom to offend. you turn it off. speak against it. >> this is an organize that is covering the 2016 election. don't you think that it's kind of ridiculous that they are also, like, putting racist
9:48 am
pictures up? >> i think it is a political cartoon. >> okay. so editorial political cartoon, juan. what was the point they were trying to make? >> they were trying to make a point about ted cruz using his family as props in terms of raising money. guess what? that's exactly what he did afterwards. >> okay. so other candidates telling you to use their children. >> it's going to come out. i think people don't make fun of hillary clinton and bernie sanders. >> let the record note that the liberals think it is okay to use the children in a political cartoon. we'll leave it at that. >> wait a minute. what about hillary clinton's granddaughter? i think some people think that very convenient before the election. >> it's the daughter that happens to be an adult now. coming up, if you're politically correct, eat somewhere else. a restaurant chain is spreading holiday cheer by warning customers to lighten up. is this something for all of us to chew on in the new year? lift with your legs.

former reagan adviser art laugher. join us. >> a restaurant chain in texas is telling the pc crowd to take a hike this holiday weekend as signs saying notice this store is politically incorrect. we say merry christmas, god bless america, we salute our flag and give thanks to our troops, police officers, and firefighters. if this offends you, you're welcome to leave in god we trust. now, juan, i love that sign. let me guess, you have a problem with this? >> no, i would agree with
9:53 am
everything on that sign. i just think there is a political message implicit which is all you liberals, go on your merry way. take a hike. >> one seems it's a liberal that has a problem with in god we trust. we can't say god. we can't say the pledge of allegiance in schools. >> you can say god. you just have to have separation of church and state. i mean there are rules to. this i know when anyone says to me merry christmas they mean well. if they then say i hate jews, i know that is a problem. it's the holiday spirit. >> you're okay with this sign as well? >> that's a joke. >> i don't think it's a joke. i think this is a good business decision on this restaurant's part. >> i agree. this makes me want to eat there. the only people who are going to see this and be offended are the crazy pc police. and that's fine. who wants to eat with those people anyway? >> that's a good point, jonathan. >> i don't think people are really phoneded about those practicing their own religion on their own property, on their own private property. i think where people are
9:54 am
offended is when it creeps into government and the separation between church and state is broken. on your own property in your own store, ramadan, christmas, hanukkah, yom kippur, whatever you want to celebrate, go for it. it's your property. >> i have a hunch that it will bring people to eat there. >> i don't know about that. >> i would go there. >> i wouldn't want to go there. >> where is it again? >> texas. >> all right. i'm on my way. >> you're probably going to get the concealed carry crowd though. >> that's what we need. that is the only thing missing, and your gun is welcome. >> amazing picture of a pink pistol that they think i should carey. i c carry. >> i'm all for. that john, good business decision i would say. >> absolutely. customers have always done that. businesses have always done. that a lot of chinese businesses do great business with jewish-americans on the christmas eve. so it's all about appealing to the customer and preserving
9:55 am
their rights to celebrate their religion. >> final thought. any liberal pushback on this? >> we're go g. with it. we love america, we love christmas. we love hanukkah and kwanzaa and ramadan, we love everything. we're the loving party. >> you're very exclusive. but don't say the pledge of allegiance in schools. >> i'll say it. >> all right. got to go. coming up, hey america, what are you doing for new year's eve? my personal invitation to everyone watching coming up.
