terrible record of sexual abuse. deadly weather bringing parts of the country to a halt. more than 40 deaths reported nationwide after severe storms d spawn flooding, tornadoes and blizzard conditions from south to the midwest.to we'll have the latest details coming up. our top story is iraq forces declared victory in retaking ramadi from the islamic state it comes after a fierce battle backed by american airstrikes. john huddy has our report. john: iraqi soldiers raised their country's flag and regained control of the city center. iraq's military spokesman said ramadi has been quote liberated. but we are told there are pockets of isis militants in the

northern and eastern sections of the city and more work needs to be done fleshing out isis fighters and clearing out mine fields and booby trapped buildings. still retaking central ramadi is a major regain for iraq's military and a major loss for cities * according to u.s. officials. >> what from what you have seen on the news today, i want to know that event in ramadi andno the fact we can commends thehe government of iraq and the brave iraqi forces that have displayed such present perseverance as well as courage to return ramadi back to the iraqi people. the coalition supported this operation every step of the way. reporter: the u.s. launched 130 air strikes on isis since july.

grieve for other family members, now i'm grieving myself. when will it come to an end. you call for help. the police are supposed to service and protect us yet they take the life. what's wrong with that picture? it's a bang to kill. taupe * the shooting deaths are sure to increase calls for chicago their rahm emanuel's resignation. emanuel saying today he's cutting his family vacation to cuba short to return to the city. yep, he was in cuba. in cleveland a grand jury declined to indict a rookie police officer or his partner for their roles in the the 2014 fatal shooting of 12-year-old tamir rice. prosecutors say a perfect storm of human error led to the death of rice.

the ramadi victory, that's fine. but there were less than 300 isis fighters in ramadi up against 10,000 iraqis with significant american air power. tom: so the next step is mosul. a mad why is outside of baghdad. mouse is way up north. will the iraqi soldiers march up there and take mosul? >> we'll see. i think they will have a hard enough time holding ramadi. the north of iraq is no longer iraq. it, kurdistan. the kurds are willing to fight. they have been the only ones willing to fight against isis throughout. they are so willing to fight they even have women's brigades. and those women know if they ar captured, they know what isis

' guy, let's start with you. this business about donald trump, i have the sense that you are not a real big fan of donald trump. >> really? tom: i wonder -- you live in washington, and i wander if people in washington are not attuned to why people around the country have him so far ahead in the national polls. is it a beltway blindness that the rest of the countries sees and people in washington don't? >> if i lived in oklahoma i would feel the exact same way about donald trump. and i understand part of his appeal.

conservative republican mold, he doesn't fit the democrat liberal mold, so i'm thinking are the independents behind hip? who is? the independent don't seem to be any more suede than anybody else. he's more the conservative republican mold for the moment because that's the way he's talking. he will switch back, he used to be a liberal democrat. i understand what bernie is trying to go after here. if he goes back to disdain for the political class and the establishment. he seems outside compared to the clintons. there is some common ground there. donald trump and bernie sanders have lots of nice things to say about hip. there are comparisons between the two. i'm not sure there will be a ton of crossover. tom: bill clinton is supposed to get into the race after friday.
