corrupt, and a liar, and it's becoming clear, it's not just republicans saying this and holding hearings and that thing, it's the fbi, it is the obama inspector general and the intelligence community, extremely serious revelations. >> even the democrats as a referendum on bernie sanders. lou: honestly, i don't see anything in the polling that makes me think democrats have a less favorable view of hillary clinton. they are attached to her. so far that is an unshakable bond in the polling. broaden it out to the community at large, the nation at large and you get a different result. >> the republican numbers are terrible, bernie has much more favorability in terms of democrats. >> i think that the hold she had on people which comes from not picking her the first time around, they are regretting that and holding on. i think she's gone too far in too many areas.

>> cathy, interesting point that you make. remorse over not holding her. you are seeing at least flicker of admission among republicans and conservatives in particular that it's too bad they didn't take sarah palin in 2008 after having endured the past seven years, how important do you think she will be to trump's bringing in new conservative voters? >> i think the timing of sarah palin's endorsement of trump is propitious for him right now. ted cruz has finally taken the gloves off against trump as retaliation for the birther stuff and main two arguments against trump now is he's not a real conservative and trying to paint trump as establishment guy. sarah palin blunts both of the criticisms by showing up. >> there's a challenge there, sarah palin, for all of the support she garners, sometimes she finds trouble wherever she goes. i think this is very good for

trump as i said and i think it will be a boon to his campaign. but he has to tread lightly with it. lou: i have to tell you, she's lost none of her energy over six years. >> and none of her supporters, really. lou: i want to turn to one thing in florida. this is a poll that astonishes me. the florida atlantic university poll showing trump at 48%, guy. 48%, two favorite sons and as ed rollins reminded me mike huckabee and dr. ben carson both residents of the great state of florida. i mean, trump is blowing them away. >> that is an outlier poll, when you look at florida polling. if you take it out of batch, it's trump by a mile in florida. so if you're rubio and you're bush and looking at the numbers. lou: huckabee and carson. >> huckabee and carson are on the way out. bush and rubio have lots of money and elected statewide in florida and getting hammered.

learn from it, but particularly the senators themselves. this is my eighth testimony in 12 months and four before that committee. and i can absolutely see among those who didn't want to listen to answers, were skeptical, a growing consensus that one, we really don't have effective strategy to deal with the middle east, radical islam in general, as i said, it's morphing into a global jihad, and so many years after 9/11. that is absolutely outrageous. we need global alliance and a strategy to deal with this things, and the other thing they have finally awakened also on iran. they recognize that iran is truly a -- a belligerent nation, uses armed violence to achieve subjectives through proxies and the united states has got to get involved in

countering the advance of the iranians. lou: jack, let me ask you this, as we've gone over your testimony, our discussions on this show, which year important enough to hear your voice every week, it strikes me that we as americans, our political leaders, the leaders of this great government have to be among the slowest learners on the face of the planet. they have failed to respond, ash carter looks like a defense secretary in search of a permission from someone, instead of turning to his boss and saying boss, this is what we got to do, and we got to do it now and these are the reasons why. he seeks permission like a child. it is a peculiar time in this country, a lame-duck president, a fight that's fought only half heartedly even if by that measure of a half. what does this year bring? >> well, certainly, it is great we're in a political season and

great we're moving towards a new president because the last seven years in terms of national security, there is no doubt that the president's policies and consistent policies in that, in terms of disengaging from the world, the world is absolutely a more dangerous place. our adversaries are in embolden, and our friends and our allies, they have lost trust in us, they're look for alternatives, as a result of it. it is sad commentary, i'm convinced of this, lou, because it happened in 1980, not talking politics here, i'm talk leadership. we get the right leader in there, a lot of this could be turned around very quickly with our allies and also demonstrate resolve and strength to our adversaries. and i don't mean using military force. i mean standing up to friends and allies and make the policy decisions. lou: intelligence. >> yeah, exactly. lou: woefully lack, by any definition. general jack keane, always
