me, fight for me, caucus with me. it is time for us to take our country back. lauren: the iowa caucuses are on monday. nicole: without donald trump the battle between texas senator ted cruz and florida senator marco rubio intensifies. blake burman live in des moines, iowa with more. blake, what do you make of it? reporter: it was a great night last night. two great debates. you played some of it. it all started at least at the 9:00 debate with what megyn kelly put it, the elephant not in the room. as you mentioned the showdown brewing over last four to six weeks or so with marco rubio and ted cruz specifically on immigration which is a major issue here in the state of iowa. cruz as he has in the past tried to pit rubio as someone who supported amnesty in the past. rubio tried to say cruz's own portions weren't much different than his. >> this is the lie that ted's

campaign is built on, and rand touched upon it. that he is the most conservative guy and everyone else, everyone else a rino the truth is ted, throughout this campaign you've been willing to do or say anything in order to get votes. ted, you worked for george w. bush's campaign. now you want to trump trump on immigration. >> i like marco. he is very charming and very smooth. the facts are simple. when he ran for election in the state of florida, he told the people of florida if you elect me i will fight against amnesty. when we came to washington we made a different choice. marco went the direction of major donors to support amnesty because he thought is was politically advantageous. i honored my commitments. and i will honor as president every commitment i make to the men and women of this country. >> that is part of the back and forth. chris christie said that is exactly why this country who needs a president who is not d.c. based currently at moment.

folks, it's not too late. enough said. nicole: frontrunner donald trump skipped the debate holding his own rally a few miles away. the iowa caucuses are held next monday. lauren: find out how the economy performed in the fourth quarter later this morning but expectationing are not high. gross domestic product estimated to have increased just .8 of one percent. that would be a sharp decline from the 2% increase in the third quarter. investors will be watching to see whether such weak growth could raise concerns about the durability of the u.s. economy this year especially given the turmoil in the global markets. nicole: amazon investors were not happy with the largest quarterly profit in the company's 20 years history. yesterday amazon reported a profit that more than doubled, $482 million in the holiday period. the company had third straight quarter of profits, but, the profits did not meet the investors expectations. as a result, amazon shares fell 15% in after-hours trading.

looking much lower this morning as well. that wiped out more than $30 billion in market value. in premarket today, we could see it down over 10%. jeff bezos of course losing his own market value. lauren: sources say xerox will announce major moves today. people familiar with the matter say xerox will give up on the plan to join its business services with copiers and printers and instead split itself into two. the company is expected to give several board seats to activist investor carl icahn. ex-xerox will report a fourth straight year of declining profits and declining sales. they lost a quarter of their value last year and down another 13% this year. nicole: time for market check. look at global market action. japan bank cut rates to negative, negative. shanghai composite index up 3% as well. lauren: that is setting the tone for trading today. in europe up arrows across the

board. cac up 26 and dax up 40 points. nicole: checking out now the next move here, u.s. stock market futures up 103 for dow futures. s&p up 12. though we see the two indices down over 7% for this month of january. lauren: today is the final trading day of the month of january. checking some key commodities oil just turned lower. we'll see how that affects futures. so far, so good. 33.19 is the quote. gold down three bucks. nicole: there is some encouraging news about the rapidly spreading zika virus spread by mosquitoes. a vaccine for the virus could be ready for emergency use before the end of the year. that is according to one of the lead developers. the virus has been linked to severe birth defects in thousands of infants. the world health organization says that zika is spreading explosively and could affect as many as four million people in the americas. there are 31 cases in the united
