receive 20% of the vote. if only one person gets above 20%, that one person will get all the state's delegates. that's 32 delegates in mississippi. with a 15% threshold. 59 delegates. and the democrats 147 there. at the top of the hour with pollles just closing in mississippi we can safely estimate hillary clinton will win that state and perhaps substantially. the margin can be very, very big and we are told by early exit polls she is commanding a wide swath of minority vote of and african-american vote. on the republican side we are not willing and able to call that one but we are noticing early on donald trump holds a substantial lead. but it's way too early to call.
8:01 pm
mississippi one of those unusual southern states where it is open. it's not just republicans who can vote. they open it up to pretty much everybody. typically in such an environment donald trump benefits. let's get to it with my colleague panel and friends. liz claman and david asman and kennedy, you brought your magic markers? kennedy: yes, indeed. neil: liz, begin with this notion the pressure is on the other candidates. it's always about the leaders and you hope to slow the leaders' momentum. for hillary clinton she is hard to stop right now. especially with the superdelegates. liz:continues her -- she
8:02 pm
continues her son sweep. she solidifies her lead and then we are look at trump possibly solidifying his lead. so tonight will be that moment where the runners up will have to prove what they can do. neil: in ohio hillary clinton is preparing it's a winner take all state. that's the kinds of thing that can quickly rack up the numbers for you. david: i'll be looking at michigan because it's a manufacturing state. we are in a manufacturing recession right now. you are trying to get me into a contentious position. neil: we just told you mississippi polls closed. david: i'm going to be focusing
8:03 pm
on mississippi tonight. mississippi * is -- is a manufacturing state. the key of donald trump's message is we lost our power as a country that makes stuff. we should be making more stuff. the argument we have made here before, when it's cheaper to make stuff overseas perhaps's better to make stuff overseas. and how many americans want to work in a factory anymore. even donald trump has come to the conclusion or recognition forced to by some of the other candidates that he makes stuff overseas because it's cheaper to do so. so how can he rail against the other companies that do the same? neil: that could be the end of the party. kennedy: he's railing against crony capitalism and businesses protected by government when they go overseas. but it's such an empty argument
8:04 pm
and i'm surprised his hypocrisy has not been focused on even this week. neil: what would you glean from that? kennedy: i think he's well on the road. he had a big stumble losing half of the states to ted cruz. neil: it proved he couldn't be swept. kennedy: those were big states for him and they were closer than people thought. a lot of people thought ted cruz would have won louisiana. but they were closer margins than he's comfortable with. we'll see tonight, was he able to hit the reset button with voters? michigan will be very interesting. it's an open primary. what's interesting about that is they are even more concerned about jobs being taken overseas in mississippi which has too many ss.
8:05 pm
neil: . lou dobbs is in his studio and he has to get over here. lou, a lot has been made about the full frontal assault to stop or slow donald trump. he has been trying to say, i'm on my way to 1,237. he used the boxing analogy. he said you have to go for a knockout. so everything they are doing is a moot point. if he puts in a good evening tonight, it's about building that momentum. lou: it's about building momentum and trump has a unique position. because as kenned -- as kennedy suggested, he came off a bad debate performance and losing four states he had been leading
8:06 pm
in prior polls. now the media is playing this game and talking trump down solidly and relentlessly with the entire gop establishment. so tonight if he outperforms against those expectations, he could be right back, he could regain his place, if you will, in the media at least, not with the stabment, but with the media -- with the establishment, but with the media. neil: they are not on the same page. they dislike donald trump, but they also dislike ted cruz. lou: they don't like anybody. everyone they pick, he falls apart. they have coalesce behind rubio and he's in a spiral.
8:07 pm
neil: donald trump is planning one of his famous news conferences at 9:00 p.m. they are not so much news conferences as a chance to rail against the press. he hates us. in jupiter, florida, donald trump could save enormous fees on booking. this is where he wants to end marco rubio's presidential run. reporter: that's right, neil. no accident that he is here. but i want to let you know, he's out apparently selling some other products. on either side of the dais they have tables stocked with natural spring water and wine.
8:08 pm
he has a vineyard. as for the candidate himself. we have not seen him on the campaign trail. that appears to reflect his confidence in michigan and mississippi and other places holding primaries and caucuses. this will be the first type we see him tonight in an hour or so from now. this is a hybrid event. it's part press conference. but he has a number of supporters and friends and family here as well. but he's been all over twitter today. i counted 15 tweets including this one in the last hour. word is i am doing very well in michigan and mississippi. wow, with all that money spent against us we'll be going to trump group term now. just a greek now is the primary
8:09 pm
where he hope to the put an end to rubio's run. neil: liz claman, it's no accident's going to do the trump water thing and the trump steaks. >> somebody will do an investigation and find's not real spring water and it will be like he's encased in teflon. it's just another representation of the fact that so-called establishment republicans, what they are doing is absolutely not working. although i'm startr starting to hear people say maybe mitt romney did make a little bit of an inroad because john kasich is starting to move up higher in michigan. david: john is but rubio is not.
8:10 pm
he's the person to whom the establishment was looking to be the main person going against trump. i think mitt romney to accuse trump of having failed in certain enterprises after the same charge charges made againsm four years ago. the question is not how many times you fail. all business people fail more than they succeed. the question is how you capitalize on your success and minimize your failure. that's the key to good business and trump has shown he's good at this. neil: showcasing these products is a way of saying ... jeff wasn't trying to cover up for at least at the time he was at polling stations the crowds were
8:11 pm
not humungous. we don't want to say there won't be record turnout. but behind jeb there was tumbleweed. i don't know where you are now. but it looks like -- what is it, a bar? where are you? reporter: i'm at a republican viewing party. this is grand rapid, michigan. i'll get to talk to the head of the kent county republican party in just a moment. 147 delegates at stake here of which 17 are superdelegates. hillary clinton loves that. on the republican side 59 delegates and they apportion them based on congressional district. if you win the district you get 3 delegates. so it could be a complicated evening. we begin to get a sense of an anti-trump movement starting to
8:12 pm
coalesce. a number voters say they were democrats but they would vote republican just so they can vote against trump. >> i do not want trump to get into office. so i actually voted republican for anybody but trump. i'm actually fairly confident with both of the democratic candidate at this point. so it's more of the fright that trump has such a lead at this point, and to just kind of do anything i can to make sure he doesn't get into office. >> i have got the head of the kent county republican party. when you hear people say that, anybody but trump, this could be your guy. how does that make you feel? >> we feel confident as it pertains to all four of our candidates. we may have intraparty fighting and jostleling, but as a party
8:13 pm
we are unified and we believe all of our candidates will be better than the democrats. >> you support any of the four. >> the kent county republican party will back whoever the nominee is, even if it's donald trump. >> your fir choice? >> i have got my gop chairman hat on so i'm not supposed to say anything. but i have a partialality to kasich. he's my kind of guy. reporter: we'll watch and see how it turns out. neil: just a reminder. a lot of people talk about what up for grabs tonight. this is setting up for next week when we have the winner take all. majority take all state. among them is north carolina with 72 delegate up for grabs. you win the state you pick them
8:14 pm
all up. that's why some people say donald trump has been doing double duty. in the unlikely event polls are wrong and he doesn't written florida. we are getting early numbers out of michigan. a state that closes at 9:00 p.m. 45 minute from now. you can see it's way too close to call. but we are getting a read that so far donald trump is in a tight race with john kasich. to blake berman in chart, north carolina. if you are donald trump and you think that this battle going on in florida you might get the shorter end of the stick. you could almost pick up as many delegates in north carolina. >> donald trump was here in this state in north carolina yesterday as well, neil. ted cruz was here and made two
8:15 pm
different stops in the area. you are exactly right. because a greek now, march 15 you have got winner take all states. florida is 99 delegates. that's where trump and rubio are tonight. ohio is 69 delegates. that's where john kasich is tonight. then you get to north carolina where we are and where ted cruz was earlier today. that's proportional. here in north carolina you can come in second and claim a victory by saying we picked up some delegates. it's the delegate argument that cruz was making earlier today saying at this point he feels it's only trump and himself that can get to that magic number of 1,237, and he feels everybody else should coalesce around hip. here was cruz in north carolina. >> maybe right now you are
8:16 pm
supporting marco rubio or john kasich. good, honorable, decent people. every one of them i like and respect. yet none of them has any viable path to beating donald trump and becoming the republican nominee. reporter: a subtle dig there. that was at a church. we were at that event. ted cruz rattled off a list of past candidates talking about who likes and respects. didn't mention donald trump there at all. ted cruz is not having a victory rally here in north carolina. his events are done for the day. neil: is he trying to cancel out rubio of the chance to win that case, even though it's possible it could be a case of prolong can the agony for him as donald trump racks up more delegates?
8:17 pm
>> you talking about florida if you were to knock rubio up? that's part of the thinking. it's a catch-22. if you are a ted cruz and marco rubio loses florida. the thinking is rubio would have to get out at that point. then the field narrows. if donald trump wins florida, that's 99 more delegates. so what do you do? at this point cruz keeps talking about the field narrowing. neil: we talk a lot about what's going to happen next week. and we are going to get t get to joling on some of these. if kasich does winnow high oh, you could see rubio winning florida. then the pressure is on trump to win 70% of the remaining delegates to get to the 1,237.
8:18 pm
david: it's huge. kasich, if he gets a state beyond ohio. he's going to have to some bargaining position. i don't know if he will ever challenge the leader directly. but at the very least he will have a bargaining position. rubio is coming off of a day in which not only did we see everything spiral down, but rumors that maybe he's going to pull out before florida because he doesn't want to be humiliate, that's weighing on his campaign. i think it was a badly reported story for one thing. it was just one source, an unnamed source in the rubio campaign. cnn should have checked their facts carefully before they came out with that story. neil: friends of rubio said if you want to protect his future. he has a bad night tonight.
8:19 pm
then it might be -- david: think of richard nixon. he was lost politically. he lost the california governorship and he was counted out by everybody as a big loser and he came back to be elected twice. there are plenty of precedence for politicians who failed and made comebacks, and rubio could do the same. neil: we have mississippi in for hillary clinton. too close to call for the republicans. we are very close, 40 minutes or so for the polls closing in michigan. early number ofs seem to show a race that's very close between john kasich and the ohio governor and donald trump. we'll see how that sorts out. can you imagine with kasich could pull it out? it could set the stage for the need for him to win his home state. he's even said regardless of what hatches prior, if he

neil: does anyone pay attention to the platform? >> the kfg around the convention. it will make a difference in terms of the debate and the dialogue heading into the general elect. at the end of the day we are talking about degrees. they are arguing on healthcare, how do we better cover people on the economy, how do we better expand opportunity. agree with e we'll have both of these incredibly talented voices going into the convention, but i think this is a good thing. liz: he just said job creation. who has been able to get his message out the most. it's donald trump who is peaking to some of those state. carrier air-conditioning saying they moved their indiana plant down to mexico. i'll slap a tariff on anybody
8:52 pm
who does that. neil: that resonated in the state of michigan for donald trump. whether it translate into votes or a victory we are 8 minute away from finding out. 8:55 pm
neil: we are about five minute away from a trump press conference. it will be surrounded by trump product. trump water and wine. david: he's trying to look as presidential as possible. he had the same setup last week.
8:56 pm
it started out presidential and then the jingo started to come in. they have added -- i'm sure there are extra flags tonight. there are 44 thrags on stage. neil: what i this guy doing? >> the press, they are in a pen and they are playing the trump board game. whoever he mornings victorious gets to ask the first question. lou: i didn't hear a loud argument from anyone else in the press. there wasn't a move to stand as one. he pulls the weakest one out of
8:57 pm
the herd. liz: the crowd is starting to look. maybe he's walking in. neil: that really got his goat. that his businesses failed and he's still around. lou: various business publications and business networks. no one mentioned more businesses are being destroyed than being created. no one even decided to bring up a suggestion that in the normal course of business one learns as much from failure as success.
8:58 pm
was he talking to you? neil: he wasn't talking to you. he was offended by how you were treating -- liz: dave ramsey said success is nothing but standing on top of a huge pile of failures and saying i made it. neil: he will show it tonight. david: we both talked to him several times and mentioned bankruptcy. he says don't ever say i went bankrupt. he says some companies that have the name trump in it may have gone bankrupt, but never me. lou: i'm just a mere country reporter. i want to compliment you for pointing out bain's failures
8:59 pm
were 21%. kennedy: failure is a great way of selling his economic plan to people who are hungry hopefully for job and business creation. if you can get young entrepreneurs in this country excited about starting businesses and showing how you are going to get government out of the way and stoke this creative engine, manage what you could achieve in this country. liz: why does he keep hitting on the tariffs? david: he's in michigan. neil: he's in florida which is averse to manufacturing. lou: one of the reasons he brought it up is to level the playing field and stop the outsourcing of jobs and that's
9:00 pm
what he's talk about. is there not a single trading partner of the united states that is not engaged either through structural barriers or actual tariffs in total free trade. it's not fair trade. neil: we are doing so great with this, we have a funny way of showing it. we can say with michigan polls closing that donald trump will win the state of michigan. we are also told marco rubio is in fourth place. but kasich is in second for the time being. but kasich was hoping, given the surge he was seeing -- it's anyone's guess. it's anyone's guess how this will go. david, your quick thoughts on this? david: this is extraordinary. if this plurality remains, the other thing notable is the person not on that list. marco rubio seems to be so far
9:01 pm
out of it, it will be hard for him to get his leg back even if he wins florida. kennedy: if you survey the landscape tonight and have four big losses. you have a hard time making the case to donors on tomorrow's conference call. >> we think puerto rico will herald the good news. that's some optimism. neil: he's running out of options. kennedy: i think dish wouldn't be surprised if that rumor that we addressed somehow materializes and rubio drops out. lou: cnn will be vindicated. kennedy: they said carson was
9:02 pm
dropping out in iowa. neil: fresh clothes. you have to take a flight all the way. can't you run into a department store? lou: the numbers keep closing between kasich and cruz for second place. neil: what do you think if kasich drops to third? lou: in either case it's a disappointment. his staff is telling people he's going to do very well. they expected they just night win this thing. he said it. he has gone through a very long campaign in which he said the next round is mine. i deserve to be here on the stage. and he has not produced -- neil: imagine how bad it could be if not for those robocalls from marco rubio. kennedy: look at my successes in
9:03 pm
ohio and he should have been naturally able to translate that to a place like michigan. they definitely need a solution. neil: we are in trump world now, it changed the dynamic. david: what about the establishment. what did they feel tonight? lou: is there any hope at all of having a candidate? i don't know if they have any hope at all. they are not joyous people and laying out a vision that we the mere mortals that just toil here could understand, comprehend and join. these people autocrats. the billionaires among them. kennedy: now, you sounds like bernie sanders. lou: let me continue and see if this sounds like him, too.
9:04 pm
we don't call them oligarchs here. we call them billionaires. in one case we call him the frontrunner. the fact of the matter is he's a great translator and interpreter to the billionaire class. i think it's a great thing for him to be in this position. while these people try to figure out how he pulled this off. neil: there are a lot of steaks there. neil: ways your thought about the makeup of the republican party or the leadership. the whole goal was in the states ahead of winner-take-all states to slow donald trump's momentum and his push towards these delegates. donald trump said i have got to win by a knockout. i have to avoid these guys who are trying to stop me.
9:05 pm
even mitt romney said as much. how likely is that with what we have seen tonight? >> i think they have got to figure out they are pretty much done. neil: who is done? >> the establishment has to figure out that trump is unstoppable. they have tried every tactic. rubio fell on his own sword. he became somebody that he wasn't. he was inauthentic and now people are rejecting him. kasich is having a surge but it's too little too late. cruz may be the only chance but he's not the person the establishment wants to take over. neil: why is that such a given. now we would be pushing up to you are right. from a quarter a third of the delegates necessary. but still aways from closing the deal. again, obviously his opponents, if you are kasich you can pick
9:06 pm
up ohio. if you are rubio you can pick up florida, put morgue pressure on donald trump. he would have to run the table. that's still not an impossible task. but it's still a task. >> it's a big task but you have to keep in mind after march 15 we'll lose the proportional votes and it will be winner-take-all. after march 15 we'll look at loot more delegates falling down. momentum will be on trump's side. the other thing we are seeing is the energy is for trump. his numbers are staying steady. we are seeing consistent numbers for him. we are seeing a little bit of fluctuation 2%, 3% you have and down. he has a solid base who is really excited, really enthusiastic. they love him. they will go to the ends of the earthette for him.
9:07 pm
on the other side we have the supporters who are waffling. as a result we are errandsing up with a lot of flip flopping, a lot of delegates going all over the place. and we are not sure you will see momentum in the same place. where energy and momentum goes, that's where we'll see the end result will be that trump will be the nominee. that's the way i feel right now. it's not way i'm going to vote. neil: you made some great calls in this election. you were even talking about the cruz surge. cruz has got six states he has won. trump tonight is up to 14. rubio has 2. trump has about a million vote lead in total votes that have come in. with these pickups today. lou dobbs know, that's what i'm doing. he would be up to 4-15 delegates
9:08 pm
right now. if he were to take ohio next week. if he were to take florida next week. if he were to take north carolina next week. that's another 280 or so delegates. it's getting pretty prohibitive. >> symbolically it will be hard. because momentum, when somebody seems like a winner, in the language of donald trump. neil: the rest are losers. >> it's hard to get the energy to go out and support them. when everything is so fractured and fragmented, who do you support if it's not trump. neil: the idea that if you are marco rubio and you are making an argument and you might make a great argument, i won puerto rico, i can win florida. people will stop believing in you.
9:09 pm
lizyou.. kennedy: rubio is losing momentum exponentially. not to mention he didn't get any delegates in maine over the weekend. lou: why would his people go to trump? neil: you are hearing the voice of charlie gasparino. i think i heard somebody say somebody was romney's business record to donald trump's. donald's -- went into bankruptcy. in the 1990s he was nearly insolvent. if you ask -- neil: did mitt romney ever have
9:10 pm
any steaks? >> did warren buffet ever have any steaks? neil: and then he puts it back. >> waste not, want not. neil: here he comes. here is the porter house. there we go. here is the porter house. we are in jupiter, florida. the second time in a row he has done his press statements from florida. lou: come next tuesday we'll be in florida. this is his second home. he loves it.
9:11 pm
why not? >> one poll shows his favorable and unfavorable. lou: highly favorable? >> unfavorable. 70% unfavorables. do you think he can win a national election? lou: yes. kennedy: only because -- >> 70% unfavorables. kennedy: look at hillary clinton's unfavorables. neil: does he ever return a phone call? >> he talks to me all the time. 70% unfavorables. neil: i don't want to lose ralph ahead of donald trump speaking. i know you want to stay tbliewd to your tv rinsing to donald trump. bernie sanders is fighting the
9:12 pm
good fight, but the games widening between he and hillary clinton. i suspect he will go all the way. >> he will go all the way. he will win now and then. and he has money he's raising at an average contribution level of $27. and that gives him great credibility. just like trump gets great credibility with a lot of his supporters. sanders has a much better argument. he's never gone into a fat cat party in beverlys or park avenue. he's got the funds to go all the way to the convention. there is no way he can get hillary if she happens to prevail to pay attention to some of his agendas. neil: donald trump is announcing a pretty good night thus far. >> $38 mill worth of horrible
9:13 pm
lies. it shows you how brilliant the public is. they knew they were lies. it was just really amazing a watch. to get these kind of numbers where they call them immediately is something very special. i want to thank the public, i want to thank the people of michigan. i want to thank the people of mississippi, and it's such a great honor. it's also really wonderful to have you at the trump national golf club. jack like lawjack nicklaus did . we have a lot our members here, i see. we love our members. and jack nicklaus is a special man and he did a special job and we love jack. we have. >> the special man. paul o'neill of the yankees. paul, you originally come from ohio, right? oh, wow.
9:14 pm
paul o'neill of the yankees. paul, you come from ohio? you endorsed me. i love you. thank you, paul. thank you. wow. that's a great endorsement from ohio. thank you. he's great. it look like he will go out there right now. i just wanted to tell you that it was really an interesting week, an amazing week. i want to congratulate a lot of people, including the candidate. this is not easy stuff. when you are doing this, it's pretty wild. i must tell you it's very, very important as a republican that our nors and our congressmen get re-elected and we put a good group of people together, that we keep the people that are there. we have terrific people. we have some terrific people, and it's very, very important that we'll be effective. one of the things i'm most happy
9:15 pm
about is that the turnout has been just massive for every week. whether it's south carolina or any place. it started pretty much with happen * and it really -- iowa, no matter where you go, it's record. i think it's the single biggest story in politic today, what's happening at the booth. a tremendous number of people coming out to vote. some of the state are getting -- one has 102% increase over four year ago. 102%. on and you are talking about probably more than 50. you are talking about millions of people where the democrats are down 30-95% from what they were. we are up by 50% and even more than that. you are talking about millions of people. i think it's the biggest story if politics today -- in politics today.
9:16 pm
i hope the republicans will embrace it. we have democrats coming over. we have independent coming over. and they haven't done that ever. probably ever. and with all of these people coming over we'll have something very, very special. if i win and if i get to go against hillary, polls are showing i beat her. some of the polls have me beating her very easily. we'll take many, many people away from the democrats and we'll take many, many people away that normally go democrat as independent. and we are seeing that. we have people come over here who have never voted republican, who have never even thought about it. and they came and voted republican. i'll tell you. >> the group of people i have seen. we'll be signing autograph after a speech. i have had many, many people say, it was a beautiful thing to hear, mr. trump, i'm 67 years old. many people. i'm 67 years old. i have never ever voted before.
9:17 pm
i have never come close to voting before. this is the first type i will ever vote. -- this is the first time i will ever vote. that's so amazing. and they do it with such spirit. i want to thank the special interests and the lobbyists because they obviously did something to drive these numbers. we are close to 50 and 40. i want to congratulate them. to raise that much money that quickly is a pretty good feat. do we agree? many of them are my friend. but they have to gamble. they have to do it. i want to thank paul ryan. he called me a couple days ago. he could not have been nicer. he was very encouraging and i have great respect for paul ryan. great respect. ted cruz is interesting because he's always saying i am the only one that can beat donald trump. you have to vote for donald
9:18 pm
trump and you are going to be miserable. you have to vote for me. but he's the only one that can beat donald trump. i heard it so many times and i said but he never beats me. take a look. he never beats me. meaning he rarely beats me. the fact is we'll do well. ted will have a hard type when he gets to certain states. one of the things we do is we get up to new york. i'm going to do great. we get to new jersey, i'm going to do great. chris christie is here someplace. the governor of new jersey, great prosecutor, i watched we did to marco. a great prosecutor, and when he came and called and said i have seen this, this is an amazing thing, it's a movement. many people have called it a movement. four covers in type * magazine. it's what i said before -- four
9:19 pm
covers in "time" magazine. when chris called and sarah palin called and jerry falwell called, and joe arpaio called. when joe arpaio calls, you know trump is tough on the border. we are going to have the wall and we are going to have borders. people will come into the country but they have to come in legally. [applause] mitt romney got up and made a speecht other day. no, no, i understood. he's a very nice man. but i understand. it's hard. when you go through this and you get to the final gate and you don't get over it. it's a hard thing. but he did make some statement and i brought some things up because he said water company is gone. i said it is? i didn't know that. i have a very successful
9:20 pm
companies. i filed with the federal elections 100 pages almost that's of the press have gone down and seen and they were all very, very impressed. i built a great, great company. i have low debt and he sets like this. this is owned 100% by me with no debt. you have seen mar-a-lago. that's 100% by me with no debt. i have trump international where you were last week, 100% by me and no debt. you look at dural. numerous jobs on the beach. massive buildings. nobody ever talks about this stuff. many, many jobs in new york including the city on the west side from 72nd to 59th street on the hudson river. one of the most successful projects ever built in real
9:21 pm
estate. the bank of america building. a big chunk of tonight san francisco. many, many things. and mitt got up and he shouldn't have done it. it wasn't becoming and he talked about the water company. there is the water company. we sell water. and it's a very successful -- it's a private little water company and i supply the water for all my places but it's very good. trump steaks. we have trump steaks. he said the steak company. by the way, you want to take one. we'll charge you $50 a steak. we have trump magazine. let me see the magazine. he said trump magazine is out. i said it is? i thought i read one two days ago.
9:22 pm
it's called "the jewel of palm beach" and it goes to all of my clubs. it's great. anyone want one, take one. my club champion. and the airline by the way, i sold the airline. he said trump airline. i told the airline and made a great deal, complicated and terrible times. the economy was horrible and i made a phenomenal deal. i had the shuttle. i'm hearing about all these things. trump university? it's -- we are holding it. when i win the lawsuit which i will win. rubio did an ad the other day the three people were saying it was so terrible. the reason i didn't settle. every one of these people, we sent them out, sent their letters out, their report cards. their report cards were all excellent. we love it.
9:23 pm
you can't settle cases when the person suing you has given you letters and tapes saying how great is. so we are pufght it on hold. if i become president that means my family will start it up. but we have a lot of great people want to get back into trump university. it will do very well and continue to do very well. but we have a lawsuit where they are trying to get -- we have a class action lawyer guy and it's ridiculous. but we'll win that lawsuit. i just want to explain. i don't settle lawsuits, very rare. because once you settle lawsuits, everybody sues you. when you have settle lawsuits, it's easier to settle. sometimes the many cheaper to settle. but once you settle, i had a friend teach me a long time ago. he said i never settle. the lawyers learn you don't set the, necessity don't sue. so i don't set the lawsuits.
9:24 pm
i watch these banks settling lawsuits all the time. with governments other people giving billions. i saw the different things, the winery, you see the win wine. he mentioned trump vodka, i own it 100%, you can check, check the records. press, please check. it shrugy -- he died built one of the great vineyards of all-time. in charlotteville, virginia. we're proud of it. he makes the finest wine.
9:25 pm
we have one of the greatest, i believe the largest vineyard, and winery on the east coast. i want to put that to rest, you have the water uk you, you have the fix, you have airline i sold, what is wrong with selling? you have the wining ask that and trump university we'll start it up as soon as i win the lawsuit. that's it did you not make sense. i want to thank my friend o'neill, when he was a yankee, he did not make mistakes. i think what this shows is that advertising is not as important, it is isn't as competence. there hthere has never
9:26 pm
been more money spent on hitting machine than hitting me, lindsey graham, he is a faster -- nasty person, first of all he is wrong about the military. he says i have been doing if there are 15 years. he has been so nasty, he is probably a nice guy, i watch him, i say does he hate donald trump. you know if you think about it, every single person that is attacked me has gone down, okay. i don't top mention names, they are out, they are gone. you can look at virtually every person, we start with 17, down to 4, of 4 they are pretty much all gone. pretty much, they did not do so well tonight, not saying
9:27 pm
anybody didn't do well, one person did well, donald trump i will tell you. it was amazing, i was impressed even megyn kelly said, donald trump did well tonight, thank you megyn i was shocked, but it was nice. thank you charles crowd hammy said that, i have been waiting for 5 years. -- had such hostility. lindsey was a 7, he attacked me, we took him to zero, he leaves in disgrace, he goes to his open state issue they do a poll in south carolina, he endorses someone el nino. >> it has -- someone else, is has me at 7 47.
9:28 pm
him at 2. the problem is that press never calls them out. they start on the attack, it is like he never ran and made a fool of himself, i call people out. a they have attacked me, everyone is gone, i am proud of that. that is what we should have for our country. isis should not be beating us, we don't win any more, not with our military, our healthcare, anything. we should not be in a position where isis is dictating terms. they asked ted, i call him lying ted.
9:29 pm
he says i'm the only one that beat donald trump, i beat him, i beat him, but he does not say, yeah he won like 4, and i won like 12 or 13, he forgets the other part, but lying ted, everyone was surprised i did well with evangelicals, i am a very good christian, they are chipping away at craig anti, we're -- christianity we're not going to let it happen any more. we're going to start saying merry christmas again. but they are chipping away, we just can't do it. with the evangelicals, they get it, they get me, they understand me, i'll be the best thing that ever happened to them, i mean that 100%, they don't like the way ted talks they don't like the way he does lie,
9:30 pm
and i actually was -- lies badly, i was actually interestingly, little marco helped me a lot, because marco, what marco ddid, in one of debates he screamed across me. i have been in the center from the beginning, i like an odd number, i am alwayses in the center, with even number, we had 4 people, i am not in the center. so we should always keep it odd numbers. i have been in the center, but marco helped me, he called ted a liar, he said you are a liar, that first time, i know politicians better than anybody, they are liars, they are. more personally they never get you to the promised land, ever. they will not. they are controlled by appreciate interest -- special interests by people who put up money for them to run. do you know how much money of spent on the last week on
9:31 pm
me, do you know how many time they were asking, despite fact they are not supposed to talk to their super pac, let me ask you, how many times you think that marco and ted, and all of them were calling this super pac? is that right. called life. that is the way life works. >> i love florida, a special place, i think we'll do well, i think we'll do well in ohio, now that i have paul o'neill's endorsement, i know i will win ohio. i have so many friends in ohio amazing place. and we'll go have fun. and then, what we're going to do is beat hillary clinton. we'll beat her badly. i think one thing, then we'll take some questions,
9:32 pm
but one of the things that really, i add that is different, we always talk about the five or six but the five states that you have to get. whether it is ohio or pennsylvania or florida. you know if you don't get one, because republican structurally is tougher for a republican to win the presidency. like by a factor of five. i have a chance of new york, can you imagine if you won new york all those delegates upstate new york i poll higher than anybody, ever. they are in trouble up there, they know i would have done things they would not be in trouble right now if they took my advice but they are in trouble, i get, i'll get michigan. i am getting michigan, because we'll bring the car industry back we're taking it back, bringing car industry back to michigan. i will win michigan, it never a question, when the candidates talk about running, it is never a
9:33 pm
question. michigan is not something they talk about. a will win new jersey, i will win ohio, i will win florida, i will win virginia, i have great properties in virginia. i have 600 acres in potomac river, one of the great pieces of property in the world, very successful, a lot of employees in virginia, it seems that when i have something, in a location, like when i am in virginia i have a lets of employees, great places, florida where dural, dural was great. last week with adam scott, i mean two day ago adam scott how good was that. >> a great young man the way he won the tournament, cadillac world championship, but have you property in a state, it means you love the state, have you a lot of employees you pay these employees you take care of their health care. their education for family,
9:34 pm
so many things, and you just do well. so i think i will do great there, i think i will do great in ohio. and i really look forward to it, i will work hard between the two, and illinois, i have one of greatest buildings in world, chicago, i have one of greatest building rated number one hotel in north america, i am proud of it on the river. maybe that is where we have our next news conference. you know maybe we'll do it in chicago. so, let's see what the press has to and we'll go home, and we'll go celebrate a lot of 6rys. >> cbs -- victories, cbs go ahead. >> no, i don't, you have to win, i be how to win, these people will told you, have i won many club championship, stand up. stand up. have i won many club
9:35 pm
championships, does trump know how to close. not so different, winning is win, not easy to win club championships, not with streaks but with no strokes, but, i like to close, i like to close things out. so, until the last person is gone, you know we started with a file o -- field of 15 now we're down to 4, i want to close things out. i have not even focused on hillary clinton yet, i am doing well, polls have me winning, but i have not started with either other than 4 weeks ago when i hit her hard, because what she said was wrong. >> case against hillary clinton -- >> there are many cases. many case, case -- i have all night, okay? you have to go on for hours. hillary will be easy to beat, she is a fluid candidate. it will be i believe can will be very easy target. >> if she is allowed to run, the real question to whether or not she will be allowed
9:36 pm
to run. and if the government is going to do its job properly, she will not be allowed to run. >> okay? go ahead, tom. >> marco rubio tonight -- >> i have no message to marco, i think he has to make his own -- it has been a tough night for him, he will make his own decision. i have actually had a good relationship with marco believe it or not, he became hostile about two weeks ago, it done work. see. hostility works for some but not everyone. okay? he became hostile, it does not work for him, he would have been better off had he kept original pitter-patter going, it did not work. >> i've been outspent by everyone, i have much more money than all of them
9:37 pm
putting it times 20 -- times 20, but i am a businessman, why should i spend the money, i have spent 30 million, others have spent within160 million. >> have you the numbers. in new hampshire i spent a few million the other 40 million, i was one, the other was 5, it would be nice if we had a country that worked that way. so, this cnn poll, came out, and i was 41. i was 49, second is 15, 15 and 15. and you know, i spent less money than anything else, phone "wall street journal" poll came out, i am still number one, you remember poll in south carolina, "wall street journal" poll was phoniest poll, they should not pay their bill, i do not do that, i never pay
9:38 pm
bills when someone does a bad job, they did such a bad job during south carolina run they had me dying in south carolina. the day before, i did that with viciousness, it looked like i was really in trouble. then i won in's landslide. the poll was wrong, then following day they came out with a national poll that was ridiculous too. so they came out with another one, nbc "wall street journal" what is wrong with them? cnn came out with a poll, 49. couple of days ago, a poll 30. again i'm still in first place, but i really believe their poll is wrong, and boy did they turn out to be wrong in south carolina. okay? yeah go ahead. >> mr. trump -- super tuesday unpresidential? swearing on the campaign
9:39 pm
trail? the a-word, if-word, is this presidential? >> i will be honest with you. >> i was a little concerned with that ad until i saw it i think it is better than any ad i have taken for myself, i do. you know why? let me tell you why, i really mean it. i heard about the ad, i said i'm not going to like it, but i looked at it, i can be -- i can be more presidential than anyone. i can be more presidential, if i want to be, i can be more presidential than anybody. you know, i have 16 people coming at me from 16 different angles, you don't want to be so presidential, you have to win beat them back, but, i would say more presidential, and i have said a couple times, than anyone other than the great be a lincoln he was -- abe lincoln, i saw the ad, people are sick and tired of being politically correct, i actually think that ad is good for me, because -- in
9:40 pm
some cases, i was kidding, i was joking i have a big audience, i was joking with words not so bad, this other cases i was showing anger and a certain toughness we need in the country, i watched that ad, i said it shows a certain degree of anger, and it shows a certain degree like we're not going to take it any more from the country that have been ripping us off, and taking our jobs and taking our money like we're a bunch of babies, very, very stupid babies, i watched that ad, if i had my choice, if i could have it down or lets it run, i would say let it run. >> some of the language? >> you are so politically correct, you are beautiful, look at you,y. i know you never heard a little off language, you are perfect, are you not just a
9:41 pm
perfect young man. >> give my a break, you know. it is stuff like that, that people in it country are tired of, okay? stuff like that. sarah? a little louder? i hear 39 million has been spent, i am surprised, i looked at numbers, in mississippi i am close to 50%, that is not with two people, that is 50% with 4 people. that is a lot. that is shocking, that is like record sitting, big difference, you know if you run like hillary clinton gain one guy -- against one guy, you are running against bernie, okay. and you get a 50 or 52ers on 56. i am running against three very comp te competent people, t
9:42 pm
50% in michigan i am close to 40%, i think that, i will say this, i am a little bit surprised that i was at dural, i was watching, i was watching adam scott hit that last great shot, i went back, i was watching news, one of the rooms, and every single advertisement was about me. it was during my tournament. one of reason i brought the wine out, water out, and stake ousteak out, and more win, and more water, i told you about trump university, an easy case to win, everyone signed a document, they hit me witha frum trump university, it is not even a big case, i don't want to settle it.
9:43 pm
i would not have you people writing about it, i could settle it but could that look, you have to do in life, sarah, do what is right. if you live by principle, believe is or not, i am a highly principled person, but i was surprised when i saw the viciousness of as and viciousness of mitt, he gets up, just, i wish he iced to same energy against obama, i think he would have won, oh, no. if he used this same energy against obama, he we'll have won, carl -- he would have woning carl? >> -- american republican politics, the establishment. behind you, if so, what do you say tonight.
9:44 pm
so many of them are -- >> i say let's come together we'll win, let's come together. carl, answer not 100%, but largely i would say yes. some people you are not getting along with that is okay. but largely i would like to do that. and believe it or not, i am a unifier, i unify you look at things i have built, i get along with people, i have great relations, even start getting along with you, campaign carl, i get a long with people, and i really say this carl, i think it's time to ub fi, we have something special going in the republican party, unfortunately, the people of the party, they call them the elites or whatever they call them, but these are people, that don't respect it yet, we have millions of people, i discussed it before, millions of people, coming up and voting. largely for me in all fairness but others also.
9:45 pm
and carl, you know this, i have seen you report on it, a record, it a record, never happened before. in 100 years, what shaping now to republican party, has never happened before, people in the party whether you call them establishment or not. they should embrace it, they should you know -- the democrats would love to have what is happening, i have friends on the other side, they said we would like to to happen, they are down 35%, there is no spirit there, we're way up with millions, i say to republicans, embrace it, we'll win the election easily. >> attacking you viciously. >> yes. >> how can you win those back? >> i don't know that you have to win everyone.
9:46 pm
carl? >> has not happened hundred years, are you changing the republican party, reforming it? if so -- >> right, okay let's talk about that, so interesting, i'm not changing the republican party. i am actually a conservative. but i am a com common sense conservative, no beard is more conservativ--nobody is more oconservative on me than the. nobody is more conservative than me on healthcare, we'll repeal and replace obamacare, and common core, we're getting rid of it, and budgets. we'll straighten out the budget. carl we are 19 trillion dollars. we're not paying it off that quickly, we don't have to but we do have to bring it down to a level that is sustainable we're going in
9:47 pm
the wrong direction. certainly nobody is more conservative than me in the border, one thing i guess people could say is that on trade, i am a free trader. but i am also a smart trader, we cannot let china, i like china, they are great. but their leaders are too smart for our leaders, i like china, i do great with china, the bank of america building and other building i have because of china, in a war we fought, but, i will tell you, nobody is more conservative actually on trade, the problem i have, you have people, that are in national review, they are egg heads they have no common sense, it is not free trade when china charges tax to get our product in, they don't let our product in and way. yet they take their product and they just send it to us like nothing. we have a trade deficit with china of $500 billion. a year, we have a trade
9:48 pm
deficit with japan of over $100 billion a year issue we have a trade deficit with mexico, that is why mexico has it going to pay forrual, $58 billion a year, 10000%, they come up that -- 100%, they say you are not getting mex to ext tomexico to pay there wail, of course, i am, we have a trade deficit with mexico, the wall will cost 10 billion, you tell me i can't make that deal, that an easy deal. i want fair trade, i want free trade, but free trade you have to have smart people to both sides, we don't have smart people on our side, i want fair trade, it has to be fair trader fair and balanced trade. okay? as they say at fox. okay. jeremy. >> i want to ask you about
9:49 pm
trade. on that topic. has been idea fair trade. >> very important. >> you talked about how u.s. is getting destroyed. there are benefits to free trading in u.s., american consumer benefit from cheaper goods for example, would you increase tariffs? >> okay, i know what you will say issue let me -- >> let me finish. >> i can't, nobody is listening to you. >> let me -- >> problem that we have with trade, jeremy, let me tell you, is we have people, other side, that are grand masters at monetary manipulation. currency manipulate, our companies cannot compete with other companies in other nations, they cannot. and because of that, we're
9:50 pm
losing our jobs, if you look at how many jobs china has for example as taken from us, it is everyone not just china, but china has taken millions of job, thousands of factories, what they have done to us, i thought about its greatest theft in history of the world, taken out so much money, i love china it is great, i don't hole anything against their leaders, i wish our leaders would do the same in reverse issue they don't. we cannot continue, i won michigan, i went there, these people are incredible people, you look at factories that have been abandoned they have been moved to mexico, in chicago, you have a nabisco moves a big plant, they are moving to mexico, ford building a factory, cars in mexico. we can't continue to do it carrier, two week ago, announcing they closing 1400
9:51 pm
people laid off, they are building air-conditioners in mexico. how does that help us? >> prices -- are coming from china and mexico. >> let me tell you what is going to happen, when china thinking you mean it, they will stop man inlatin in-- man manipulating the currency, when china thinks you mean it, and japan thinks you mean it they you are not letting them sell cars like that, they will. when japan thinks we mean it, they will stop playing around with the yen, they are almost as good as china, you look at the com komatsu tram
9:52 pm
tractor and caterpillar. because, that they currency manipulate, we can't have that, they are not supposed to do it, but they have no fear of our government, they are dealing with babies, they are grandmaster players, we have people who should not be negotiating for us. >> one more question. >> go ahead. >> a decent question. >> go ahead i'm kidding. >> graham saying - -- >> i think lan lindsay graham is probably a nice guy, i was
9:53 pm
tough on him, he was tough on him, i think i could probably get along with lindsey graham, i think i could ge get along with mitt romney, i have -- he worked really hard, he did not get there, i can understand that, i can get along with mitt romney, i don't know mitt romney very well, i en dorred him, i backed him, i helped them but i don't know mitt romney. i could probably get along well with lindsay gray -- lindsey graham, but he gets on television he is nasty. >> the bottom line, we should grab each other, unify the party, nobody is going to beat us, thank you very much. >> i appreciate it. >> thank you very much. that is a tour deforce, i don't know if you have ever been to white house, i don't think that press conferences will ever be the same. jeremy, i don't know jeremy
9:54 pm
dude. >> put a trump steak on his black eye. >> jeremy is like done. all right, recap where we are, we heard donald trump speaking it started presidential. said right up top support our senators even though they did not support me, that was very different. a very different tone, he had a nice gracious conversation with paul ryan. looks forward to working with him, mitt romney, he is a nice man. then it got messy. >> missed the steaks. >> but it is looks like an impressive evening for donald trump, picking up mississippi, and michigan. 99 delegates combined they were open primaries, they were very favor able
9:55 pm
environments for donald trump but he did better, john kasich is addressing troops, in ohio. he did not do that badly, but he did not win either, but it looks like he will grab second spot it could be a launching bore for ohio -- board for ohio his home state next week. >> maybe we should hire him. we're very pleased with what happened, you think about where we have come in great state of michigan from basically single digits where people said, you know how is he going to do, to where we are in all likelihood, finish in second place, over 20%. [applause]
9:56 pm
you know we're all familiar with march madness, now the home court advantage has come north, next week, we are going to win the state of ohio, it will be -- [applause]
9:57 pm
neil: we are monitoring john kasich. we don't want to interrupt you with dramatic developments. president george w. bush is now backing ted cruz and that is a big development. neil bush with me now. neil, why senator cruz? >> well, it's become very clear to me, neil, that ted is the only guy that can unify our party. and we have huge challenges facing our nation. i was excited to see that paul ryan wants to lay out an aggressive reform-minded agenda and need to send a message a president who is principled, focused on sticking to principles of conservative leadership, and ted's the only guy in the race that's left that has these strong
9:58 pm
principled conservative views that can lead us to the era of reform that will continue our greatness and raise us to greater levels as a country. so my wife and i have joined the ted cruz bandwagon and we're happy to do so. we're fellow texans with ted, and know he'll be an effective president. neil: did you discuss this with your brother, jeb? >> i did not discuss with my brother jeb. he may be learning this for the first time watching your show as a matter of fact. neil: really? >> yeah. i'm an independent-minded guy. haven't talked to any of my family about this. i think they found out yesterday they joined the ted cruz campaign, but didn't know i was going to be heightening my advocacy by being on your show. but this country is at a critical turning point, and what's interesting to me, neil, this is the time when normally the republican party would be unifying around a candidate, and i think it's pretty clear that there's only one candidate left in this race that's actually talking about ideas.
9:59 pm
i just saw the press conference/celebration in florida that mr. trump did. you know, some people say he's narcissistic and bombastic, i'm not going to get into that. you can judge for yourself. he talked about his food, talked about everything but issues. neil: you should try the steaks, neil, you should try the steaks. people have been waiting to hear from your brother whether he would make an announcement to support anyone in florida. ted cruz comes up, marco rubio comes up. did you know if your brother or anyone in the family, do you know whether he is poised to do anything like that? >> i really don't know what he's thinking right now. i'm sure he's enjoying his private life. my brother's never made a habit of calling me for political advice, so that probably doesn't surprise anybody out there. he's a good man. i tell you, i'm so proud of the campaign he ran, though, he's
10:00 pm
stuck to issues, he ran with a servant's heart. the president of the united states is the most grand position in the country. neil: obviously, to with what surprise over your brother being rusty and that many years out from being governor that, that was it? >> i don't particularly like the use of the word botch. i know it wasn't his time this year, there are a lot of political dynamics around. that it doesn't change the fact he was clearly the best qualified. neil: it didn't happen, he's out of the race, to your point, if it were donald trump who got the nomination, could you support him? >> let me be clear, i like kasich and rubio. rubio has a great future. neil: if it were donald trump could you support him? >> just a second, let me finish my point. neil: sure. >> at this time in the party's process, we normally
10:01 pm
consolidate. and when it becomes -- by next tuesday, only 60% of delegates would have been selected, and when it becomes a one-on-one race, ted cruz versus donald trump, there's no doubt in my mind that the republican party will send a devoted, principled, courageous conservative. and not easy for me to jump on the bandwagon so strongly, but the bottom line is, i don't want hillary clinton to be president when we have so many critical issues that need to be addressed in this country. neil: all republicans have been asked, if you don't have your candidate, would you back donald trump if he's the nominee? >> i would have a very hard time backing donald trump. here's the one thing i learned from watching my brother, father, my other brother, people are called to serve out of a sense of humility and serve out of a servant's heart. when you serve with humility,
10:02 pm
that's an important value of our country. i couldn't support a guy with donald trump's behavior. neil: would you vote for hillary clinton or bernie sanders? who? >> i definitely would not be for bernie sanders, definitely will not be for hillary clinton. neil: you would sit it out. i'm afraid i'd sit it out. maybe a third-party candidate runs, i hope not. neil: hand it to a democrat? >> i don't necessarily believe that. i don't think donald trump is going to get more than 40%, 35% of the vote, anywhere he goes, whether he's a republican or independent. and someone with a larger plurality is going to beat him, and i think -- you. >> might be right, if he were to win, if he were to win, neil, next week inno high and in florida, all he'd have to do is get 40% of the delegates and it's his nomination. >> i think there is a pathway for a unified republican party to send the candidate of choice
10:03 pm
that win a one-on-one race, and looks like the only guy that can do that is ted cruz, that that guy will win more than 60% of the votes. i think your math is a little off. he would need like 46% or 47%. neil: no, 40%, checked it, rechecked it, took my sock off and used my toes. >> oh! >> funny thing is the delegates haven't been selected yet. neil: do you think it could be a very, very nasty convention? i know your family, donald trump went after the bush family, went after your brother, the former president, and these wounds are not healing. i hear a lot of that, and i'm wondering whether the party can come back together? >> well, neil, and that's my concern. a lot of people are advocating, and i guess romney advocated, let's go a brokered convention and work it out of the convention. it's much more powerful as a unifying force for the republican party to have a
10:04 pm
nominee selected before the convention because can you get your messages clarified. neil: donald trump is your guy, he's bringing in more people than your brother did. he's bringing in more people than your family. trump is that guy. >> he says that he is. neil: that is an outstanding donald trump impression, outstanding. >> thank you. [laughter] >> in a one-on-one race, neil. i just had this instinct and intuition that he cannot survive. trump will go down. ted cruz will crush trump. neil: neil, your family, the heralded, storied family, any of them, any of them inclined to even like donald trump? >> anybody in my family? >> yes. neil: the bush family. >> i can't speak for anybody else. neil: how about mom? how about mom, barbara bush. >> definitely not. neil: how about dad?
10:05 pm
[laughter]. >> i don't really know, i'm not going to speak for my dad. i'm not going to utter anything about my dad. neil: your brother, obviously not a fan, i'm talking george bush, the president. >> yeah, you know. neil: no one in your family likes donald trump. >> the dog maybe. neil: i'm not going to say that. >> i'm not going to speak for anybody in my family but me and my wife who shares my views. neil: all right, the reason why i mentioned it is because back to the thing, i know you got to go, but donald trump can't argue, look the participation in the polls and people voting, that's me. donald trump is saying that's me doing that, that's me bringing this collection of people who never voted, let alone republican, let alone vote at all who are coming to the republican party, and i'm the guy, and not the bushes and not the old establishment guys, you say what? >> read an interesting article, you may have read the same
10:06 pm
thesis, he's fomenting fear to appeal to the authoritarian nature of the voters. he's been able to raise the specter of rapists and criminals according to the border, according to the article. talking about the muslims, raising fear, china is beating us, all these people are beating us, he's successfully raised an ardent following, nobody is going to peel those people off of him, but being so belligerent he's created a ceiling that is hardened and cemented and locked in. one on one race, trump goes down. mark my words. neil: all right. neil, it's a pleasure having you, thank you for taking the time. if your family is just finding out about this, i'm flattered it's on fox business that they're catching it. neil bush, thank you very much. i have to go to lou dobbs on that because that is -- that is the establishment there, right? angry. >> i didn't get anger so much from him. perhaps when he was talking
10:07 pm
about his mother. >> great answer, by the way. >> mother, of course, she hates him. >> i have to say that it was striking that neil bush of all folks is sitting there talking about how well cruz is going to do. he's projecting, he's prognosticating but not dealing with the reality. and tonight he's gotten his tail kicked. and the other thing about this story he read that talks about all of this, the fact of the matter is we have half a trillion dollar deficit with china. it's not fomenting. that our brilliant trade masters and presidents and fairly those who have given away fast-track authority to the president and the congress, they're responsible for that. we have shipped, you know, apple has a generous number would be 50,000 jobs in the country and 700,000 in china.
10:08 pm
he's not fomenting that. >> is trump going to change that? no president is going to change that. >> charlie, you know, i appreciate your view, but the fact of the matter is. neil: which means he doesn't. [laughter] >> both of you listen up, okay? it's about leadership, and this has been -- look, listen to the president we have, he's dower, gloomy president. >> i agree. >> he does nothing for aspiration, nothing to elevate. i believe trump has already had immense following. neil: he will have the powerful case to make for democrats at their convention by saying, i might not be the best guy at the economy, but a hell of a lot better than when i took office. >> by the way, starting a trade war with china is not going to get apple to bring the jobs back, and i will say, this every now and then, when i
10:09 pm
listened to that, that speech was off the charts that trump gave. neil: what happened to jeremy. >> who is jeremy? >> everybody is saying who is jeremy tomorrow. >> every time he wins you over, you see the reality distortion field he's easily winning the case on trump university. not true. just ruled against him. neil: how about on the steaks? >> by the way, don't you think that was brilliant? here's an example, the steaks, the wine, putting all of that out in front, the water. brilliant. >> i don't think it was brilliant, i think he was chilling his own goods. reminded me of walking into the hello kitty store. >> that was good. >> that's why he's doing so well with the evangelicals. can we briefly get back to neil bush for one second. i realize there's a lot of men explaining going on here. i know, honey, but i worry about your -- no, no. >> breathe, charlie, breathe.
10:10 pm
>> neil bush. >> trump broccoli? [laughter] >> tastes like victory. [laughter] >> he talks about unifying the republican party by getting behind someone like ted cruz. he doesn't tell members of his own family. what do you think ted cruz is doing by putting neil bush on the pony show and sending him out as though he is saying the bush family endorses me, and neil bush hasn't talked to his brother, hasn't talked to members of his own family. >> that was a good interview. >> it was a good interview because of the -- >> you're telling neil he did a good job. i thought you did too. neil: kennedy raises a good point. he had his brothers as a candidate, and goes to ted cruz, you could see it, lou did too, this is a last gas, we'll settle on cruz. many in the establishment hated
10:11 pm
cruz. >> las gas? we're in the beginning of several months. neil: do you think he's going to stumble along the way? >> here and there, here and there. neil: do you think he'll get the nomination? >> yeah, i do. neil: you do? >> i thought -- >> how can he not with all of the numbers? neil: the point you just alluded to, we're a little more than halfway there. halfway in total delegates. >> he talks about 38 -- >> here's the last gasparino. >> they didn't spend any of the money in michigan. >> how much money did jeb bush spend? >> here's a good point. trump was up by 20 points. he's under 40%. they're going to make that case. and i don't care what anybody says, she not self-financing his campaign. he's lending his campaign money. neil: real quickly, and
10:12 pm
obviously go to deirdre, picking apart the numbers here, but donald trump will be, let's say 450 or so delegates at a minimum. and i think liz touched on this, you would be a third of the way there. at the end of tonight, more than halfway through the total delegates selected. he's not all the way there. deirdre bolton digging into michigan, particularly the democrats. what do you have? >> i am indeed, neil, there are prizes, especially for the sanders campaign, so he must be pretty happy because he is doing a little bit better than a lot of people thought he would do. if you can see right now, with 59% in, have you sanders, senator sanders leading at 50% and clinton trailing him at 48%. so that's really worth noting. if you look at these three counties which are clearly for clinton, you have detroit in there which we know is mostly african-american, that's mostly where she has a lot of support. also flint, and neil, you know
10:13 pm
this, in january, the mayor of flint endorsed hillary clinton. she was out ahead of that whole poisoned water crisis, she has a lot of support there. we're going to be watching the bottom three, too close to caught. sanders' message, very anti-trade, seems to be playing well in the border state of ohio here. this idea, strength for manufacturing. back to you, neil. neil: thank you very much, and for donald trump, michigan and mississippi, can't quite call it for anyone on the democratic side yet for michigan. though we do say that hillary clinton has picked up the state of mississippi right now. foreign diplomats, if you look at spiegel, if you look at lamond, any of the publications, that comes out every two weeks? always bashing trump. lord conrad black joins us, former media mogul, still a mogul north of the border, where increasingly we're told getting leary of donald trump.
10:14 pm
he's not exactly their cup of tea, but could be looking more and more like our cup of tea. what do you make of it? >> i think his popularity is rising in this country, and i wouldn't take too seriously what la monde or spiegel or the economists say. the economist is a great magazine but has not understood america since ronald reagan's time. that's not the -- that doesn't mean anything, those people don't vote. the issue is however the people of your country voting, and this was a big win for donald. neil: i know that. there does seem to be particular venom for donald. comically put aside and dismissed and seem to be enjoying it. i don't know, i think last time you were telling me the way ronald reagan was treated, what do you make of that? >> neil, foreigners dislike strong american presidents other than when they need
10:15 pm
strong american presidents to protect them. they don't like any president except franklin roosevelt and john f. kennedy because they were elegant men and they said they're one of us, they weren't. they never pretended to be, roosevelt spoke french and german and was an elegant man. don't trust what the foreigners say. they're part of a coalition of willing, meaning they'll graciously accept an american guaranty of security as long as they run a trade surplus and pick america's pocket. canada is a serious ally, sincere ally. neil: great, i think i know how you feel. >> conrad, bravo! >> pay attention to foreigners. neil: i got it, stop reading la monde. >> i like the french. neil: i know how to get to versailles, my wife could speak it and never shared that with
10:16 pm
the person who was talking to us. it's a thing. do you get a sense right now that the same doubts that much of the farm had about ronald reagan will be eased if it comes to a president trump. people will say he's getting stuff done or something about this guy? >> look, even foreigners say once in office, the habit, a very fine habit the united states is given an incoming president the honeymoon, and to a degree it obtains overseas as well. people in other countries. and the americans are overseas, and people say all right, that person, he or she is the president now. give them a chance. that's just human nature and it's a good thing. and the comparison with reagan is accurate up to a point but claimed reagan was a dunce. they didn't think he was a bad man or vulgar man, they said he was an idiot. he wasn't, he was very
10:17 pm
intelligence. belligerent, aggressive, vulgar, uncouth and obnoxious. neil: quit talking about charlie gasparino! we love him. [laughter] >> you mean it's not crass? the height of civility? >> neil, to show your steaks and wine is high-level stuff. >> i didn't say it was the height of civility. look it was an infomercial. >> a president doing an infomercial. >> it's corny. >> i thought it was corny for john kasich to tell us all to hug strangers at the shopping mall. >> wine, vodka. neil: lord black is speaking, charlie. >> i don't think it is the height of propriity but wasn't a bad response to his critics. neil: all right. >> look, i'm not saying he's the classiest guy in the world, don't underestimate him, he's a very smart man and people are voting for him. >> i felt like i was on the
10:18 pm
showcase showdown. >> he'll be up to 700 delegates. neil: that's it. conrad, always a pleasure, thank you very much. >> i'm so hungry. i need a steak. >> get 10% off every time. neil: we're going to get an update on all the races, where things stand, and i promised lou dobbs we would not miss bernie sanders taking questions. he made some statements before. he's coming back to take reporters' questions. we're going to key in lou so he can get a few in himself. stick around. we have a lot more coming up.

but trump dominating among conservatives, a core base, dominating with evangelicals as well. so donald trump cutting into senator ted cruz's base there. that's why you see he did not win in mississippi. half of mississippi is considered very conservative. cruz coming in a close second there. meanwhile in michigan, the democratic race still not called. 67% of precincts reporting, and among independents, bernie sanders winning that vote so far according to the exit polls. 70%. meanwhile for the union vote, those voters are going for clinton, but it's basically tied at this point. numbers continue to change as we wait to hear who will win on the democratic side. neil? neil: thank you very much. night for billionaires, billionaire investor john paul joining us now. i don't know with the influence

10:26 pm
would be ahead of donald trump. ted cruz is not a nice guy. the senate doesn't like him, and the house doesn't like him. of course they don't like him. that guy went in trying to keep promises to the state of texas what he would do. they wouldn't run against the establishment. talking about cruz. of course they didn't like him very much for that. i've been with him a couple times at a couple dinners. he's a nice guy. in politics, there's a lot of unfortunate things going on. the end result is this. this is the united states of america, and it's a little embarrassing to see these people go at one another the way they do. one thing for certain. >> john paul, in donald's defense, i've covered other campaigns, he's not the only one that goes on the attack. mitt romney can be really nasty. you know, newt gingrich was nasty. maybe donald turned it into an artform. all these guys are nasty when
