opportunity here for the economy to continue moving forward. therefore, stocks are a good bet. liz: joe, john, great to see you. [closing bell rings] we close out the first trading day of month of april with no april fools. with a swing more than 200 points. let me hand it over to david and melissa. david: a decent job report sending stocks higher despite oil moving lower. i'm david asman of the happy friday. melissa: i'm melissa francis. this is "after the bell." after this hour, ted cruz in control. we expect the senator to begin speaking at a conservative conference in pennsylvania any minute now, after taking a commanding 10-point lead in our brand new fox business poll. okay you guys want to advance up where you want me to go there? all right. we're going to the nuclear summit right now. where president obama is speaking.
4:01 pm
let's listen in to that. >> the test those areas where we still have work to do and how we can strengthen our collective effort against these networks. if i could ask the press to depart promptly please. david: okay. once again, that was unexpected. sometimes the unexpected happens. we were expecting him to say a little more in front of the cameras. melissa: clearly. david: clearly ushering folks out there. melissa: what we were doing before? david: go to politics, wisconsin primary coming up. we're four days away and donald trump has work to do according to first ever political poll from fox business. blake burman is in milwaukee from the campaign. i'm so sorry i interrupted your broadcast from president obama saying get out of here, folks. reporter: that is the way it goes. to be honest who doesn't want to talk about politics these days,
4:02 pm
right? we'll talk about all day long. there is a lot of interesting stuff here going on in wisconsin. you mentioned our fox business network poll that was released last night and continues to show what we believe at least, the polling does, a potential shift here in wisconsin with ted cruz up double digits over donald trump. that being the second poll in as many days that shows as much. here is that top line number from our fbn poll. ted cruz at 42% among likely republican primary voters if they were to vote come tuesday night that puts him 10 ahead as i mentioned of donald trump. he is at 32. john kasich lagging behind at 19. kasich has made his campaign as being the candidate who wants to stay positive and bring an uplifting message but this week he kind of took a turn in a different direction. he went after trump. today he gave one of his harshest criticisms yet of the man who is leading here in wisconsin, ted cruz. take a listen.
4:03 pm
>> the problem with senator cruz he has no record. his record is shutting down the government and making everybody he works with upset. maybe he ought to talk about what he is for going forward? reporter: cruz and kasich as you mentioned are in pennsylvania. they will be giving a speech soon. and from there, they head here to wisconsin. we are in milwaukee. there is a big dinner here sponsored by one of the local gop groups. cruz and kasich will be at that event. donald trump will not be. instead, david and melissa he gets here to wisconsin tomorrow. he has three events. notable because that third event was added today. could be pure coincidence they added an extra event or a reaction to poll numbers show him trailing here by 10 points. david, melissa. send it back to you. david: no coincidences in politics, at least in this election. blake, thank you. melissa: they will definitely vote, leading with 46% of
4:04 pm
wisconsin primary voters according to the new fox business poll. that is not the only problem for "the donald." women back cruz over trump by 19-point margin in the badger state. in the general election, if it ends up being trump against hillary clinton, only 55% of primary voters would be happy with their choices. that is a dissatisfied bunch. in fact 1/3 would could voting for third party candidate whoever that might be. a lot of dissatisfaction there, david. david: a lot of dissatisfaction. wisconsin shaping up to be critical state for ted cruz and donald trump. the texas senator leading his closest rival by 10 percentage point lead in fox business poll. anti-trump forces hoping a wisconsin win could turn the tide for trump going forward. steve hayes, "weekly standard" and fox news contributor. steve, this fbn poll is pretty dramatic. we saw the marquette poll saying basically the same thing. what does it mean?
4:05 pm
what is responsible for turning around a trump 10 percentage point lead oaf cruz to have himming behind by such amount? >> i would point to two things in particular. one you had a year of heavy criticism of donald trump on wisconsin talk radio, particularly in the milwaukee area. charlie sykes, jay weber and other talk radio hosts are very significant, very influential in southeastern wisconsin. they have been pounding on trump for a while. in addition to that you have a series of unforced errors from donald trump whether you're talking about heidi cruz and his sort of odd attacks on heidi cruz and i would say misleading comment to be generous trying to blame that on ted cruz. and series of other things that he said. in addition to attacking wisconsin governor scott walker who remains popular among conservatives. david: he gotten through barriers like this before. that is the thing.
4:06 pm
there seems to be dramatic turn around. barriers as you one you mentioned he either laughed off or argued off or the public hasn't cared in the end. there seems to be something happening. by the way people putting out all the pac ads in wisconsin came they're responsible. the ads haven't worked before. i think they're trying to get more money. >> who could blame them. there is something to the idea these recent events have accelerated i think an existing skepticism among republican voters in wisconsin. look, you have seen these kinds of voters elsewhere in the upper midwest. if you look at iowa, which touches wisconsin and southwest, if you look at minnesota to the west, those are places where rum trump do not well where ted cruz won in iowa, marco rubio won in minnesota. there are voter types i would say the northern midwest are not as friendly to donald trump. what is interesting if you look inside of the marquette
4:07 pm
university poll you see donald trump is not as popular in rural areas as one might expect him to be. rick santorum did very well in two rural northern districts in wisconsin in 2012. david: steve, i have to flip ahead to new york because we're running out of time here. >> sure. david: what happens in new york? the ads, ad time by the way is very expensive in new york compared to place like wisconsin. they're not going to be able to run as many ads. >> no, they're sure not. donald trump has i think a lot of potential appeal. he has potential appeal in the city in certain places. he has done well in cities elsewhere across the country. he has potential appeal up state. new york looks to be very friendly place for donald trump right now. if he can amass delegates there, he can make up for what people expect to be his loss in wisconsin. david: steve hayes, "weekly standard." thanks very much. >> thanks, david. melissa: to the democratic side of the fox business poll bernie sanders ahead of hillary clinton by five point in wisconsin.
4:08 pm
the vermont senator's lead grows among voters under the age of 45. sanders leading clinton by a whoing 47 points. he doesn't have 47 points. he is leading by 4points. david: unbelievable. melissa: women backing clinton in the badger state with 47% of the vote. however women under the even of 45 break for sanders, with 66% of the vote. david? david: wow. i love this stuff. stay tuned by the way to fox business for full coverage and analysis of the wisconsin primaries. our neil cavuto begins coverage at 8:00 p.m. on tuesday. melissa? melissa: president obama meeting with other major world powers this morning to discuss the iran nuclear agreement. during day two of the nuclear security summit in washington this as many u.s. lawmakers have been clamoring for action against the middle-eastern nation after the recent round of missile tests. peters barnes standing by at white house with latest on this
4:09 pm
one. peter? reporter: melissa, that's right. on the sidelines of this talk clear security summit president met with the others helped negotiate the nuclear deal. they say the agreement is working, the iran is complying, closings off every possible bath to nuclear weapon. with iran continuing to test ballistic missiles possible violations of u.n. resolutions president was quick to talk about iran. >> with exception u.s. trade embargo on iran remains if place. we continue to vigorously enforce sanctionsertakenning to iran's support of terrorism, human rights abuses and ballistic missile program. that is u.s. policy. reporter: as for progress at this summit the white house announced four nations safely disposed some nuclear since the last summit in 2014. and 27 nations agreed to i am my meant new measures to --
4:10 pm
implement new measures to mitigate inside workers in power plants. as you know at top of the show the president and other 50 plus leaders are talking about the fight against isis, including helping to make sure it and other terrorist organizations do not obtain nuclear weapons or radioactive material. the president will wrap up the summit with a press conference over an hour from now. melissa. melissa: peter barnes, thank you very much. david? david: well, this is bad news. isis taking over a university chemical lab in iraq. wait until you hear what they were using that for. melissa: a 20-foot fence and several border patrol agents were not enough to stop suspected drug smugglers from entering the u.s. we'll tell you what did make them turn right around and head back to mexico. david: that is a secret formula. after string of controversial comment, donald trump's support among women is among the rocks. more results from our new fox business poll.
4:11 pm
>> nobody, nobody, respects more than donald trump, that i can tell you, nobody. [cheers and applause] nobody will be better to women and nobody will give greater security to our country for women. when you think about success, what does it look like? is it becoming a better professor by being a more adventurous student? is it one day giving your daughter the opportunity she deserves? is it finally witnessing all the artistic wonders of the natural world? whatever your definition of success is, helping you pursue it, is ours. t-i-a-a.

melissa: stocks getting boost from better than expected jobs report in march. u.s. economy added 215,000 jobs. unemployment rate ticked up as slightly more americans looked for work. the issue is taking center stage of the white house. thanks to both of you for joining us. so top line the jobs number looks good. it was better than expect.
4:15 pm
retail and health care, we're still losing jobs in manufacturing, about 30,000. losing them in mining and logging. it is a mixed report, isn't it? >> it's a mixed report. the note increase in participation rate, more people entering the workforce is positive. you need to look at the jobs report in connection with chairperson yellen's dovish stance we came out earlier this week. impact on interest rates and ultimately on m and amount activity in the night. melissa: you think that will mean she will not raise rates anytime soon. this is, that she doesn't think the economy is that strong. democrats will run on things are fantastic out there. we've done a great job. steve forbes, that a tough sell? >> like having .5 season in baseball you will be in the world series. people don't believe it. melissa: right. >> the report is not nice as you see it, spotty as job creations are in. retail will not be the big
4:16 pm
booster for the economy. melissa: right. >> overseas you have a troubled situation but here at home, perversely continueing to deform the credit markets in interest rates hurt small and new businesses. in terms of being dovish she is being hawkish. melissa: who will turn that around? look at lead candidates, hillary clinton promise more of the same. donald trump said he would be a great jobs president and fix this. what we're missing are good-paying jobs. jobses in engineering that no one is qualified for? how could you turn this around? who would do it? what do you think, pal. >> my personal opinion is almost impossible what any one candidate would be impact on the overall economy. it is too difficult to pick. too many things outside of the president's control as steve said. melissa: we know what impact bernie sanders would have. he would tax the hell out of the
4:17 pm
rich. that is what he would do. >> hard to make sense of any particular candidate. if anything the election cycle told you can't predict what is it going to happen. melissa: i don't know. steve forbes i have to think somebody on the right will they be better for job creation? >> yes. take somebody like senator cruz. he get is it about the fed. i think he would make changes there. he has interesting flat tax proposal. that would be huge boost to get through congress. you see in the past, cut taxes stable money the economy responds. melissa: but the structural change in the economy where jobs are, that is a huge problem for our country. when you look at jobs added this past month, it's retail. it is health care which requires more training but it is service-driven. what we've lost are the good solid middle class jobs. how does someone put those back? >> i don't disagree with you, melissa, i think people put too
4:18 pm
much weight overall on the u.s. jobs report. i think it is one data point amongst many. there are many, many things around the world. world is increasingly global face. many factors affect u.s. economy. melissa: like what? >> emerging markets. things going on with china. things like isis. years ago something like ebola. who would have thought ebola impacted u.s. economy and stock market is vulnerable to things like that. melissa: steve, what do you think, how do we bring good middle class jobs to the country. >> vigorous economy. if we knew where they come from we would go to vague gas and get rich. that is wonderful thing about the economy. who heard of google and new things would come along. jobs will be created in areas we can't even think of today. melissa: gentlemen, thanks to both of you. >> thank you. melissa: steve, see you back here in a little bit. david: coming up shocking news from iraq. chemical threat from isis. the terrorist group reportedly conducting explosives experiments in a school in iraq when they had control of that
4:19 pm
area. scrambling, the cruise ship not stopping in the way to it in the harbor. watch out, folks. >> we heard a big crash. that was something big. all of sudden we heard hornblower start honking its horn. it was coming in way too fast. we knew right away it was going to hit. this just got interesting. why pause to take a pill? or stop to find a bathroom? cialis for daily use is approved to treat both erectile dysfunction and the urinary symptoms of bph,

melissa: so take a look at this. two suspected drug smugglers scaling a fence over 20 feet high from mexico into know ghoul less, arizona, carrying -- nogales, arizona, caring large backpacks. a mention can journalist caught the whole thing on video. when they saw her on camera, they shouted for her to stop filming. she refused. boy is she brave. they turned around. reporter said was surprised how
4:23 pm
quickly they scaled the fence,. david: my gosh. melissa: isn't that incredible. also by the fact that three u.s. border patrol trucks were within yards and no agents approached them at all. david: aye yi yi. doesn't look like they were armed either. terror school is in session for isis. islamic terrorist group taking over university chemistry lab in mosul, iraq. creations at lab, included peroxide-based chemical bombs and suicide bomb vests similar to the ones used in last week's brussels attack. last week according to a report in "wall street journal." captain chuck nash. fox news military analyst. captain nash, they hold territory, not just an academic point, they use the territory to develop new ways to kill people. that is why we have to stop them from holding territory, right? >> absolutely, david. what they have is the sanctuary. whether they control it or
4:24 pm
allowed to use as al qaeda used afghanistan before 9/11. doesn't matter. if they have free run of the place and they do what they are going to do, they will get really smart. a lot of these guys, look at al cade and isis today. these are not just disadvantaged poor kids looking to be something. a lot of them are very, very intelligent. david: absolutely. >> they have smart adults working with them. david: we're past the rhetoric from the administration. they don't do what they do because they're poor. why if the only way to stop them from really devising new ways to kill people disrupting their sanctuaries as we call it, stopping pulling back on airstrikes? the number of airstrikes significantly down from 3200 in november to just over 2000 in january? >> we're running somewhere between 4 to maybe eight strikes in syria and we're doing a little bit more than in in iraq because we're starting to shake the ban he will field around
4:25 pm
mosul so iraqi armed forces and security forces go in and retake mosul. i take your point we could be doing more but really what it comes down to, david, where are the targets? you have to have eyes on the target. david: right. >> we have 1,000 ways to kill something. finding it is the hard part. david: finally this, is little bit out of your bailiwick because military strategy is based on things like that. the president won't say words like islamic terrorism. he won't put the two words together. the president of france who is not conservative by the way, he is a socialist, has no problem putting the two words together. he was speaking a the white house today. in fact he used islamic terrorism. just as you used the phrase, that yellow portion of the transcript that was missed by translator. white house had translator in there, they missed, they stopped translating a the point of islamic terrorism. a white house said a technical issue with the audio prevented
4:26 pm
president hollande's full remarks to be heard. do you believe that? >> there are no coincidences in washington. people need to disabuse themselves of that concept. no. things happen in this town for a reason. the reason why this administration made the fbi and military take anything that had to do with islam, muslim, whatever, separate that from the word terror or terrorism, they purged that out of all training material. we're dealing with a disease here and we're chasing symptoms. that is a losing proposition. now we're censoring our allies. >> it is the french. we're saying we're more politically correct than the french. i've french seen it all. david: thank you, captain chuck nash. have a good weekened. melissa: democrats fighting for a big win in home sweet home of the big apple put which candidate will new yorkers vote for? >> what this campaign is about,
4:27 pm
is creating a political revolution. [cheers and applause] you are the heart and soul of this revolution. [cheers and applause] melissa: coming up steve forbes is back to weigh in. david: and take a look at some lines. they're not for the new iphones. tesla fans lined up for the new model 3 last night. wait until you hear how long they will have to wait to drive their knew cars? new cars. hey guys, i want you to meet my fiancée, denise. hey. good to meet you dennis. put under a microscope, we can see all the bacteria that still exists. polident's unique micro clean formula works in just 3 minutes, killing 99.99% of odor causing bacteria. for a cleaner, fresher, brighter denture every day. it begins from the the second we're born.er.

melissa: bern, baby bern. hillary clinton trailing bernie sanders by five points in wisconsin according to first ever poll of fox business. the senator campaigning in new york last night, addressing a crowd of more than 18,000 in the bronx. sanders breaking his fund-raising record, pulling in $44 million in march. that's huge. fox news's ed henry in d.c. with the latest on the campaign trail. ed, that's a lot of dough. >> yeah. look what does it tell us? it tells us that bernie sanders has energy and own enthusiasm behind him. he is in this for the long haul. as much as clinton campaign wanted him in the rear view mirror. when you have $44 million, by the way that is only in march. add up what he has gotten in the first quarter of this year, it is over $100 million. he is sticking around. when you get 18,000 people in the bronx, that shows you hillary clinton has to worry
4:32 pm
about even her home state because wisconsin votes next as you've been saying, this hour. bottom line bernie sanders is leading there. you see it in the fox business poll. that means he could then win seven out of the last eight contests. new york is april 19th. hillary clinton is up. she at one time was up 20, 25 points or more. now she is up a dozen points. that's why she spent three days in new york. that is why bernie sanders is trying to show maybe he has some muscle in the empire state as well, melissa. melissa: is it amazing to you that he a able to raise all the money when you look at superdelegates, people calling it a fake race between the two of them. there is no way that he could possibly close the gap. people are the verying in maybe one of the most important ways they can with their dollars? they say, i don't care, i think you can do it? >> i think money has its limits, see bush, comma, jeb.
4:33 pm
just because you have a lot of money in the bank doesn't mean you will win. we should have reality check hillary clinton still leading among the pledged delegates, more importantly the superdelegates, party bosses likely to put her over the top. she is poised to get the democratic nomination. he will stick around. he has a lot of fuel behind him. melissa: ed henry, thank you. david: another battle ground for hillary clinton and bernie sanders. sanders is hoping for a surprise upset in his favor. hillary clinton looks ahead for general matchup with trump. teach forbes is that. we dealt with the democrats. let's deal with republicans. that is your bailiwick. new york republican party dare i say is kind of a old stuffy institution and they have had a string of losses over the past several decades. some people say now is the time for somebody like trump to shake things up to which you say?
4:34 pm
>> first he has got to win the nomination. and then two, he has got huge negatives which keep getting worse instead of better. normally at this time you're a front-runner, you ramp up your game. reaching out to people normally not for you and start to get negatives down. he has gone in the opposite direction. david: specifically to the new york republican party. a lot of republicans in new york look to the leadership of the party, god love them, they have done a terrible job winning elections over the past several decades. maybe there is time for a change and somebody like trump who is from the outside to shake things up. >> last republican won in new york? won twist. ronald reagan. what did he have. real changing policies. on republican side only way you win in new york, somebody amazingly like a cruz comes in with high negatives but says we need a radical flat tax, we need something different.
4:35 pm
that is the only way you are going to win. david: cruz is not, granted trump is from the outside but cruz is even more from the outside to new yorkers. new yorkers know donald trump. they have seen him sprues the place up. they have seen him do things taking over this ice skating rink in central park. the city spent five years dillydallying with architects, spending millions of dollars. said give it to me. within three months he completed ice skating rink under schedule. things like that stick out to new yorkers minds. >> he has to show he can bring a diverse group of people together. he already appealed to non-traditional republicans. we've seen that the at same time he has to figure out how to get the negatives down. what he did this past week on the abox issue, put aside the answer -- david: that will hurt him in new york, no question. >> showed he hadn't thought the thing through. he should have had that answer down. any republican candidate says you better have your answer down
4:36 pm
whatever it is at the beginning or you will get killed. seeming lack of preparation will hurt him more than any specific issue especially this stage of the campaign. david: very quickly, i want your impressions of this bernie versus hillary, what will happen there? >> what is shows, she one has real negative problem and you can see her not doing very well in new york. she should win new york but the fact that bernie could get 40, 45, 46% of the vote in her backyard, it is his backyard but he has been in vermont 40 years, there will be rumblings in the democratic party -- david: with all the superdelegates -- >> superdelegates are human. if he want to win. if they think she is flawed candidate, you will hear rumbling about joe biden. look at obscure rules in the democratic party convention. there is force majure conscience rule, even if you're pledged to candidate on first ballot, if
4:37 pm
there is something out there you can find a way out. nothing is cast in stone in politics. david: steve forbes knows all the details. joins me on "forbes on fox," tomorrow on fox news channel, 11:00 a.m. eastern, don't miss it. melissa. melissa: tesla unveiling new model 3, huge lines, this is unbelievable, forming around the world to order the car even without receiving it. the company received 198,000 orders in 24 hours with buyers plunging down a one thousand dollar deposit, knowing they won't receive the car for at least a year. joining me gary gastelu, foxnews.com auto editor. gary, so much about the story that is incredible. i mean that word literally. all these people, 200,000 people, jumping to try to get a car that won't even be here until the end of 2017. at same time this company is urn booing through cash so -- burning through car are.
4:38 pm
i read last year at end of last year they had only $1.2 million in cash left. what do you make of this? >> we haven't seen anything like this since the ford mustang 50 years ago. the difference when the ford mustang was introduced, in next 18 months they deliver ad million of them. it will be 18 months before tesla will deliver one of these. nevertheless 200,000 deposits in one day. that is unbelievable. melissa: what do you make of what you heard about the model 3, even though we haven't see it. what do you think? >> $35,000. range over 200 miles. looks better than i think most people expected. more importantly looks better than one car we know it will be competing against next year, chevrolet bolt, is lot slower and looks like economy car. this thing looks fantastic. there was disappointment last night there weren't any big surprises. idea maybe they would have some
4:39 pm
wild thing that didn't look like conventional car. that may be coming. tweeted out we'll see the next level in a couple of months, maybe before the car goes on sale. melissa: yeah. >> they're selling a lot of those regular sedans in in the model s. i think leading this is pretty smart move. melissa: is there any risk people putting money down, this is not the car they are going to get? it will succeed every expectation but you can't get it. it won't come out for a long time and they have something else before this comes out. i don't know, is there guaranty you will get what he talked about last night? >> i'm sure the performance will be good if not better. it may get tweak ad little bit. that interior was incredibly stylish with the one big tablet display. no speedometer in front of the steering wheel. no buttons or knobs. it might get tweaked next year-and-a-half.
4:40 pm
i think if anything performance well get better. >> he is a master. he has another divorce to pay for now. i couldn't resist. has nothing to do with anything. forgive me. gary, thank you so much. david. david: mean while the company associated with the young and hip has hit middle age. apple turning 40 years old today. it has come a long way since steve jobs and steve wozniak built their first computer in los altos, california garage. you remember. if you bought a couple shares of that stock, $10,000 of the shares, would be worth 2 1/2 million. hopefully some people made out like bandits. melissa: wow. rocky road for donald trump in and wisconsin women are pretty set against him. our panel weighs in on our first-ever fox business poll and the high pressure fight for the female vote. plus, panic on the pier after a harbor cruz make as terrifying crash.

4:45 pm
senator from ohio, thank you for joining us. betsy, let's cover new ground. i think the way he can turn this around, pivoting back to national security in a hurry. as a woman, there are issues i care more been than these other issues, my pocketbook and my family safety. what do you think about my plan? >> i think that is a good plan. history has tested that plan, proven it pretty well. george w. bush made security moms a central part of his 2004 re-election pitch. in fact a super-pac that supports trump, cut an ad you might have well just written, a mom cleaning up after her kids and saying i want national security. i am worried about being safe. his numbers are so bad it will take a lot to change it but give it a shot. melissa: capri, give advice to the other side, we won't tell them.

>> i'm sure they're not tuning in now. as pro-choice democratic woman there is not a lot of republicans can do. there is lot of conversation surrounding abortion debate this week. we have entire list, these three folks are obviously very pro- life. ted cruz bragged about is had work in the courts trying to defeat reproductive rights. i know john kasich. while i respect him he has obviously done a lot of things including signing defunding planned parenthood. we heard the comments from donald trump this week. but i tend to agree with you. i think if they want to get back on track, mr. trump needs to focus on national security with women and continue on economic message which is strongly focused here in the midwest. melissa: who is having a hard time with women is hillary clinton. she leads sanders for women by a small, small margin, 47-44.

4:48 pm
>> i think that is true. she is right about the fact there is an age gap more than a gender gap. i'm always one to say as someone who has been elected in office almost a decade that you know, women's issues are everyone's issues. they are family issues. and we don't just focus on things like reproductive rights. we do have to look at, you know, how we're going to be able to grow our economy and educate our children and you know, we're not one issue voters. and i think that people need to start listening to that. melissa: absolutely. lady thanks to both of you thank you very much. david: interesting. we have disturbing pictures out of san diego. several people are recovering. this is what happened when the boat hit the pier. melissa: my gosh. david: from minor injuries after their tour boat crashed into a dock. 3 of the 141 people were taken to the hospital. melissa: put on the brake! david: a mechanical function apparently was to blame. melissa: unbelievable, coming in too fast. there is nothing you can do at
