for the day ahead. breaking news this morning, both sides reach an agreement with the us government to pay $1 billion to compensate owners of diesel cars. not clear how much money each owner will get. the agreement is expected to be revealed later this morning in a court hearing in san francisco. both expected to buy back 500,000 vehicles that use software to evade us emissions rules, including the jetta sedan, golf compact, the german automaker admitted it cheated on emissions tests for 11 million vehicles worldwide. nicole: another major automaker is in trouble, japan's mitsubishi motors announcing an internal investigation found its employees falsified fuel mileage test data, saying the inaccurate test involved 150,000 of its own brand cars as well as 470 vehicles produced for nissan and

this as nissan pointed out inconsistencies in the data. shares of mitsubishi dropped 15% yesterday. lauren: general motors reporting earnings before "the opening bell". the automaker expected to post a profit of one dollar and wanted to share up from a year ago, revenue is expected to decline slightly to $35.4 billion. investors watching for any clues about future car sales especially for signs that the us market could have planned out a bit. gm car sales rose in march but there are concerns the gains will not continue despite lower gas prices and a down market getting better. lauren: a day after a huge victory in the gop new york primary donald trump telling supporters they are going to enjoy watching him beat hillary clinton in the general election. he was on the o'reilly factor last night. >> looks like we are in very good shape to go right to the

end i will take on crooked hillary. i will take on hillary clinton and i think we are going to win. lauren: trump campaign in indiana, 57 delegates up for grabs in that state which holds its primary may 3rd. jeff flock has more. >> you wonder why donald trump in indiana with the primary two weeks away, and other primaries in the race, a critical state. how the rest of the primaries may go based on how they are expected to go donald trump figures to do well next week. indiana could be critical. it is an up for grabs state and the state with a large number of delegates, 57 delegates and these are delegates already named by state party officials, so the popular vote in the primary is going to be key. if he wins the popular vote,

ton of delegates. at that point it is going to be a battle to see who can earn the support of a majority of the delegates elected by the people. lauren: ted cruz will be in maryland and indiana today. lauren: hillary clinton campaigned in pennsylvania which will award 189 delegates next tuesday. the former secretary of state slammed republican rivals including ted cruz for his proposal to patrol muslim neighborhoods. >> this is dangerous. this is not a free kind of rhetorical flourish and ted cruz talking about religiously profiling american muslims and having special police patrols to go through muslim neighborhoods. >> senator bernie sanders took a day off in his home state of vermont and he will be campaigning in pennsylvania tomorrow. lauren: president obama continues his visit to saudi arabia amid tensions between the

two countries. more now from blake berman. >> president obama meets with a gathering of leaders today at the golf cooperation council following meetings yesterday with things -- king solomon of saudi arabia. the white house is that included ten of the administration's top players, among them the defense secretary askari, national security adviser susan rice and the head of the cia john brennan. counterterrorism on the top of the list of that agenda. the president's trip to saudi arabia comes amid two debates at home surrounding 28 pages. those of the classified document seen by a small group of lawmakers many of whom investigated the lead up to 9/11. the suggestion of some that the documents could show the saudi government at some level could have had some link in the september 11th terrorist attack. former iraq envoy paul bremer told neil cavuto he thinks those contents should be made public. >> i don't understand the president's concern.

points and nasdaq futures up 2. nicole: republican national committee meets today to way changes on its convention rules. peter barnes has a preview. >> reporter: republican officials meeting here in florida will hold a session of their rules committee this afternoon and they are considering possible changes to the rules for the republican convention in cleveland this july. generally speaking there are some members who would like to have a not trump candidate at the top of the ticket and that would require some changes to the convention rules but one member of the rules committee told neil cavuto that he is reluctant to make any changes ahead of the convention itself. >> it is highly unlikely the rules will be changed to allow someone other than our two leaders -- i can't predict what the convention rules committee will be doing but it will be

>> reporter: heartbreaking situation in southeastern parts of texas as the ongoing flooding and threat for more rain is in the forecast out there. this is bringing in heavy rain across texas and louisiana, but we are going to be seeing a risk of additional storms, potentially several inches of rain which will worsen any flooding situation that is ongoing, also the risk that some of the storms could bring severe weather in the form of damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes. that will be another threat to watch out for out there not only in southeastern texas but louisiana. temperaturewise on the warm side across parts of the eastern us, temperatures in the 70s as far north as new york city. farther west across the rockies temperatures warming up out there, many areas expect temperatures in the 60s, 70s and 80s across the pacific northwest.

five quarters of beating expectations in cloud computing could offset declines in the pc market. analyst expect like have to post an increase in revenue, earnings per share increasing 4%. microsoft shares are up 33% in the past year. comcast says it will give customers a way to watch programs without a cable box. the company offering tv watching apps as the federal government works on new rules that would force the tv industry to lend tech companies like tivo or google to sell cable boxes, consumers usually pay extra fees for these. lauren: more big names, releasing earnings reports, verizon communication is expected to report high results from a year ago, the dow component is the lead contender to acquire yahoo.
