what happened if hillary takes new jersey and bernie takes california, and what will happen in philadelphia when the nurses go on strike because they want bernie? my buddy lou dobbs is going to answer all those questions for you right now.. lou: good evening, everybody, i'm lou dobbs. a brand-new national poll boosting hopes donald trump will win the general election come november. the quinnipiac university survey showing clinton with a four-point lead over trump. 45-41 and trump last night, sounded confident that he could easily beat hillary. >> she's lost so much lately. it seems every night you turn on the television and every time there's a vote she's losing, losing, losing. so i guess you win a few up-front but she is losing so badly.
7:01 pm
let's see what happens in california. but she not doing well. lou: trump in that same interview also dismissing some of his detractors. trump saying he doesn't need the endorsements of the bushes, romney and ryan. >> i don't need their endorsements. i don't think it matters whether or not i get potential presidential endorsements. look, the world is a mess, this country is a mess, and i'm not looking for their endorsements. i want the people's endorsement and i'm getting that. lou: we'll be taking up the race with some of our favorite politicos tonight, former reagan white house director ed rollins joins us, republican strategists matt schlapp and lee carter and citizens united president david bossie will talk about the ever worsening clinton e-mail scandal, and tonight learning the man believed to have set up and maintained hillary clinton's private e-mail server will take the fifth when asked to answer questions. that all part of an open

trump among men. trump is more trusted to create jobs and handle crisis. clinton trusted to handle an international crisis. >> how are you? >> reporter: in indiana today, the man who won the 2012 who would you rather have over for dinner poll weighed in on the nomination. >> the republican nominee for president would dismantle all the rules that we picked. that is crazy. the notion that you would vote for anybody who would now allow them to go back to doing the same stuff that almost broke our economy's back makes no sense. >> reporter: as he woke up this morning, trump's incensed that the press dared to question his commitment to veterans, exploding in his only tweet of the morning -- .
quote
7:04 pm
>> he's a sleaze. >> reporter: while trump regularly criticizes the media at campaign events the level of vitriol displayed at the press conference set a new bar. >> the press is really dishonest, i don't mean everybody, a big portion of them, especially the political press. >> reporter: the outburst drew fire from critics who say trump doesn't want to be held to account. trump is on solid ground with many voters. >> the average reporter thinks this guy is horrible. the average voter thinks finally someone is standing up to them, shouting them down and putting them back in their place. >> reporter: trump weighed in on the choice of david french to lead an independent campaign for president. the constitutional attorney and iraq war veteran was wooed by "the weekly standard" president bill kristol. >> you can't get in texas because they missed the deadline and missing other deadlines, and all he's doing is i guess trying to get publicity for his failing
7:05 pm
magazine, i imagine. >> reporter: today the 2012 republican nominee mitt romney indicated he might be able to get behind david french as a candidate tweeting out he thought he was honorable, intelligent and patriotic. so far handful of protestors in sacramento. tomorrow night donald trump is in san jose, and any time he visits the bay area, there is a large contingent of people only too willing to welcome them to their hometown. lou? lou: john, thank you so much. why is he there? why in california? why now with the democratic contest next tuesday? >> yeah, people probably think trump's got california wrapped up. why waste the time? why not be in florida or ohio. three reasons, he wants to make sure he wins big, and doesn't want hillary clinton and bernie sanders sucking all of the oxygen out of the political coverage. don't forget, california is the
7:06 pm
world's biggest piggy bank when it comes to political contributions and donald trump will spend a lot of time before his events here in sacramento. another one in san jose and another one in the northern part of california that's yet to be announced where he will meet with a lot of deep-pocketed donors in private events. not necessarily formal fund-raisers like in los angeles, but get to know you kind of thing because he will be calling on them to reach deep into the pockets and give generously. lou: getting to know you and your wallets. i have to laugh, john, when you say he didn't want sanders and clinton to get all of the oxygen out there. he seldom gives up any oxygen anywhere he is. an interesting take. thanks so much. john roberts in california. >> thanks, lou, good to see you. >> good to see you. on the democratic side, hillary clinton just 71 delegates away from clinching the nomination, but the democratic front-runner
7:07 pm
isn't celebrating just yet. she has to face senator sanders in california where aides are concerned the vermont senator might pull off an upset. fox news correspondent jennifer griffin with our report. >> reporter: greeted by new jersey's favorite son jon bon jovi and cory booker, hillary clinton took off the gloves today shifting campaign to the general election as she inched closer to the democratic nomination. now just 71 delegates short. >> we learned the truth about donald trump's big talk about helping veterans. it turns out it wasn't until the press shamed him that he actually made the donations he had promised. for months it was all just a publicity stunt. >> reporter: she gave a taste what we are told will be a major national security speech in san diego tomorrow outlining why trump would pose a danger as president?
7:08 pm
>> he has advocated a return to torture, and he has said he wants to ban all muslims from coming to the united states. [booing] . >> reporter: she left the rally for cuban cafe in downtown newark where she was asked about her future running mate? >> what do you think of cory booker for vp? >> first of all, i'm already her vp, her vegan pal. >> reporter: but couldn't stay long in new jersey, campaign has headed to california where campaign aides fear senator bernie sanders could pull off an upset like he did in michigan. a new "quinnipiac poll" shows her 14 points ahead of him nationally but shows 57% of voters give clinton a very unfavorable or strongly unfavorable rating. >> i wonder why secretary clinton and her husband bill are back in california? i thought we had lost, it was all over. secretary clinton is looking at polling would suggests otherwise. >> reporter: president obama
7:09 pm
weighed in from indiana on the divisive primary. >> we got to stop pitting americans against each other. we have to come together and choose a vision of america where everybody gets a fair shot. >> reporter: clear clinton strategy right now is to not only divert attention away from the investigation into private e-mail server. but also to make the case from san diego tomorrow where there's a large military community that she would be a better commander in chief than donald trump, lou? lou: jennifer, thank you very much. jennifer griffin. just a reminder, let's look at this graphic. some of these stories can be explained with facts and really extraordinary. as hillary clinton is mocking that $5.6 million that trump gave over to 22 veterans groups. hillary clinton has donated $105,000. those are the numbers courtesy of the "los angeles times," and rather persuasive, don't you

think? a bombshell revelation by the obama administration. its state department today admitted it cut 8 minutes from a videotape from a 2013 jen psaki news briefing about secret u.s.-iranian nuclear talk before posting that video to its website. the state department previously suggested a glitch occurred in which a dialogue between our james rosen and jen psaki was eliminated. the spokesman now john kirby confessed it was intentionally removed on orders. >> there was a deliberate request that this wasn't a technical glitch, this was a deliberate request. we do not know who made the request to edit the video or why it was made. lou: well, one, i'll bet you it wasn't a request. two, i'll bet you it was an order. three, i bet you they know who did it.
7:11 pm
the controversy dates back to early 2013 when our james rosen pushed victoria newlyin on her denial that the united states was involved in talks with iran. her denial. ten months later, it was revealed such discussions had taken place. and new developments in the clinton e-mail scandal. the former state department computer staffer who helped hillary clinton set up her private e-mail server says now he will take the fifth amendment at a deposition hearing next week. bryan pagliano also wants to prevent any video recording being made of that session, which is part of an open records lawsuit brought by judicial watch against the state department. a potential breakthrough in efforts to find out what brought down egyptair flight 804. investigators say a french navy vessel picked up signals from one of the airbus a320's black

. lou: more tough news for hillary clinton. brand-new abc news-"wall street journal"-"marist poll" shows hillary clinton virtually tied with bernie sanders, in that's right, california. 49-47%, clinton returns to california tomorrow and that poll may be a good part of the
7:17 pm
reason why trying to stave off what would be if it were to occur an embarrassing upset to senator sanders which couldn't come at a much worse time for her. joining me chairman of the american conservative union matt schlapp and lee carter, good to have you both here. what is this woman doing? what is she doing? this was supposed to be a coronation, lee? >> supposed to be a coronation, and it is absolutely, i mean her campaign has got to be so upset that we're that close in california where she would have thought she had it by a landslide and had it nailed by now. problem is she has no narrative, no enthusiasm. lou: you know what this sounds like? sounds like 2008. i hear the same words, i hear the same narrative. i see the same candidate. >> that's right. >> the only thing i say is different from 08, as a republican looking at the democrats, she got to be a better candidate as it went along.
7:18 pm
this time i don't see an improvement. i sense a fragility to her where she's more removed and she screws up on her execution constantly. lou: she hasn't had a press conference in, what? >> 179 days. >> over 180 days. lou: it's incredible. and the national liberal media. you talked about baked in and baked for, the national media are gag worthy in their coverage of this day in and day out. >> she has been absolutely defensive and on her heels the whole time. not laying out a pro active agenda. when people say i'm with her, what does that mean? no one can answer the question and that's gag going make it impossible for her. lou: no one can answer the question what is her vision? >> she believes in the pivot, right? she's wanted to be this bill clinton, be in the center type of politician. lou: be in the center? >> hear me out.
7:19 pm
she wants to have the marketing of that, lou. in the meantime, she's got bernie sanders and she's going outpopulist progressive outliberal bernie sanders. she is a liberal candidate. lou: matt, lee, her campaign is so clumsy they have her attacking donald trump for $5.6 million he turns over to the veterans and she, according to the "los angeles times" comes up with $105,000. >> they thought they had him. they thought they had him. lou: this is downright stupid, and i don't see anything about her campaign that says we're going to get smarter after california, after the convention, in the general election. meanwhile, donald trump has to put up with all of this nonsense. i don't blame him for being so frustrated. yes? >> the other day at the press conference he is taking heat for the way he talked to the reporters. lou: you know --
7:20 pm
>> hillary clinton made it sound like it was beneath her to do press introduce. i had to do 300 press interviews. our candidate donald trump has had press conference after press conference, he answers every question. lou: she doesn't talk to anybody unless they're hand picked, and her -- >> they are like schoolkids. >> here's a big authenticity problem with her, she is so far off. lou: you look at what's happening with trump, though, where is the national media taking nost the fact that the press conference. >> they criticize him. lou: he doesn't get credit for it. >> he gets criticized for, it he's saying i'm out, there talking to everybody, let me tell you my story and people say he's dominating the media. a complete double standard, he's doing what we want
7:21 pm
candidates to do, he's out there talking and sharing his vision. lou: talk about people who don't have a vision and basically they look like the three stooges. i'm talking about mitt romney, i'm talking about paul ryan and bill kristol. are these pals of yours? we need to talk. >> they are pals of mine. i've been clear with mitt romney. what mitt romney needs to do in all candor, he needs to find a hobby, go away, take up golf. lou: what did you tell bill kristol? >> i said what he is essentially doing is trying to ensure that hillary clinton gets to pick four supreme court justices. lou: he doesn't care does, he? >> i think he does care. >> i think he's a neocon and nothing more than residue of a time that is gone. >> they don't understand what's happening. they don't understand the changes that people want. lou: to hell with them. step aside, this arena is trump's and the republican
7:22 pm
parties. >> their time is then, not now. so many people are in denial what's happening in this country. easy to be dismissive. but it's hard to come up with the -- lou: trump has 86% support of republicans. >> that's right. lou: he needs 90 according to all of the savants. >> i don't know if i agree. lou: that's what the savants say, how much does he need? >> i think high 80s is good. i think he's going to get a higher percentage of independents. lou: he's 86%. these are the same idiots who 30 days ago said he could not unify the party, and among that crowd were the three stooges. >> and i agree that this is a good number, i think we have to look at the independent numbers and independent numbers are turning to trump. that's a big deal. lou: that's going to be a hoot. >> in the end the smart republicans get behind the nominee. lou: the smart republicans already are. the only people left back are the idiots. >> fair enough.
7:23 pm
lou: matt, thanks for being with us. lee, great to see you again. >> you, too. >> dog gone i'm revved up about that. vote in our poll tonight -- we'd like to hear from you on that, twitter -- links to everything found at loudobbs.com. a dashcam video capturing incredible, incredible video. watch as this check rally car driver loses control. that's why we're upside down by the way, that's our clue and begin the dizzying series of tumbles and flips because the dashcam video was ejected from the car giving us this unique vantage point of spiraling out of control car.
7:24 pm
the passenger emerged unharmed and fortunately the video camera was fine. up next, donald trump confident he will win the trump university lawsuit. >> i'll win the trump university case, i could settle that case. i could have settled it. i just choose not to. when i ran i said why didn't you settle up the case? i didn't want to settle the case because i'm a man of principle. lou: that's a subject of my commentary here next. much more straight ahead. and matt is waiting here on bated breath to hear what i have to inta some of the good folks involved. lee carter as well. thank you, both. we're coming right back. i use what's already inside me to reach my goals.

this summer at choice hotels the more you go the better. now get a free $50 gift card for staying just 2 times. so go. book now at choicehotels.com. you always have a choice. . lou: a few thoughts now on what is one of the most transparent judicial hit jobs ever. i talked about this before, the so-called class-action lawsuit against trump and new defunct trump university.
7:29 pm
i want to put this in context. there are currently three lawsuits against trump on trump university. one of them filed by new york's democratic attorney general who long ago established himself as nothing more than a democratic activist devoid it seems of almost any impulse beyond the political, more partisan and prejudice than any prosecutor should ever be, and two class-action lawsuits in california. and how many plaintiffs are represented in those three lawsuits? because here we go. i'm going add it up. let me get to the total. six. six of them. one named in one suit. five, count them, five named in the other lawsuit. both being adjudicated by a federal judge out in california appointed by president obama. to put those six plaintiffs in perspective and context, they are six out of somewhere around 10,000 people who were students
7:30 pm
at trump university. six out of about 10,000. good grief! how big is the role of the democratic party in all of this? as the math would suggest, it's so simple you would guess democrats are involved. the federal judge presiding over the federal cases is judge gonzalo curial, an obama appointee. he had ared a hearing on the first day of the republican national convention but recanted after news outlets took note of his blatant motive. and one of the law firms representing the plaintiffs, i can't tell you if it's two, three, four or five, robbins, geller, redman and dowd is the firm and they paid the clintons almost $700,000 in speaking fees since 2009. that's a lot of talking by lawyers' standards and includes speeches made by the clintons while the lawsuit has been under way.
7:31 pm
that might seem like a conflict of interest, but not from the law. of course hillary clinton trying to capitalize on the lawsuits saying they're proof trump is a dog gone fraud. dog gone is my word. the law firm says the university took money and lots of it. judge curiel says they are anti-trump. i wonder why? judge curiel ruled in favor of plaintiff's attorney to release sealed confidential documents in the case, including internal playbooks and depositions, but as these things are want to happen, in those depositions, plaintiff and former student art cohen had few complaints until he learned trump didn't personally hand pick the instructors. when asked if he was unhappy
7:32 pm
with his experience, he said -- as trump noted, there is nothing fair about this case, and in large measure, thanks to a politically activist federal judge in california, and a publicity hungry democratic attorney general in new york, that is not likely to change soon. the quotation of the evening, this one from will rogers who said -- we're coming right back. stay with us. what in the world are mitt romney, paul ryan and bill kristol doing? >> these people are losers. if they do it, which i don't think anybody with a reputation would do it because they'll
7:33 pm
look like fools. lou: ed rollins and morgan ortagus join us next, we'll take up the conspiracy. we'll find out. a stunning thrill of a lifetime and dangerous one at that. we have the breathtaking video for you right after these messages. a lot more to cover here so please don't go anywhere, we're coming right back. so i use quickbooks and run my entire business from the cloud. i keep an eye on sales and expenses from anywhere. even down here in the dark i can still see we're having a great month. and celebrate accordingly. i run on quickbooks.that's how i own it. . lou: joining me now, former reagan white house political director, great america pac
7:37 pm
strategist, that means he's pro trump. ed rollins, and national co-chair of maverick pac, morgan ortagus. where we left off in the discussion, morgan, where are you with trump? have you reconciled and embraced the idea of our future? >> well, i'm certainly not voting for hillary clinton or bernie sanders. lou: then you made your peace. that's great. >> when it comes to as you said i was intelligence analyst for the treasury and lived in saudi arabia, when it comes to foreign policy that's what i care about and hoping to hear more from him about and that's what i care about, but i think as you saw in the "quinnipiac poll" today, republicans for the main part have consolidated around trump. lou: 86%. >> more than the democratic party have. lou: it was just 30 days ago as i said earlier talking with lee and matt. he wasn't going to be able to unite the party.
7:38 pm
latest poll says he's got 86% of the republicans with him. >> i always tell people in between new york and california two, places i've lived, there are 330 million people in the country and 220 million people in the distance. there is a lot of people that like him, new yorkers like him, and californians like him are not as relevant as the rest of the country. lou: it is truly impressive that the democratic party is as confused and confound as it could be, you couldn't ask for a better scenario for the nominee, it will be official with the national convention. it's effective now. he's got the best clean, clear shot that one republican could possibly imagine having. >> if you looked at "wall street journal" today, they're talking, doug schoen talking about hillary clinton not being the nominee, talking about
7:39 pm
parading by it in the end. lou: that would be quite a circus on its own. >> here we thought our convention was a circus. the strongest thing trump did yesterday at his press conference is to talk about how the democrat nomination is rigged. he can bring more disaffected sanders voters on his side. lou: ryan and romney and kristol who are trying to screw up a vacatant lot. >> totally irrelevant. trump has put it together, trump has not changed his behavior pattern, keeps getting stronger to the point we were talking about earlier, hillary clinton is the inevitable nominee of the democratic party and going to the most important state in california and limping, and sanders who obviously has more momentum than she has is one part of that same poll, if you have all democrats, he's up by a point. if you take principled democrats or people who vote, two points. he's got the momentum and that's the most important state they have in the country, and she is limping badly. lou: trump today saying he
7:40 pm
doesn't need the bushes, he doesn't need romney or ryan, i think he's right. what do you think? >> he's totally right. he beat 16 people fair and square. it was i heard someone say this, it was a hostile takeover of the republican party. we've seen, if you look at what's happening -- lou: by the way, that undersells what trump did. it wasn't hostile. he was hostile at the moments but exceedingly charming and persuasive at others. he took it electorally, he took it over electorally the democratic way. these other once are anti-democratic. >> i don't think he should be overly concerned about them. he's not going to win the leck in the traditional -- lou: i'm taking note of foolish behavior on the part of purportedly intelligent people? >> why worry about bill kristol and the other people. lou: i'm not worried -- >> i'm not talking about you, i'm talking about trump. lou: you can't reinforce the message that the establishment
7:41 pm
has to be rolled over because they will be this stupid as long as they are permitted to be, do you agree? >> the biggest loser would have been beaten by trump would be romney. romney look like a sore loser and whiner, and a lot of us had to hold our nose to vote for him four years ago because he was a nominee. lou: now he's cute. >> and i think ryan is make an absolute major mistake as the most significant republican in the house. he needs to get on board and get going here. >> you think he'll survive as speaker with this behavior? >> i think he's going to have a hard time surviving as speaker anyways. he's got get action and not going to get action unless he basically has a president he can work with. lou: ed rollins, morgan ortagus, fun talking politics, isn't it? the next video not for the faint of heart. watches a group of

thrill-seekers jump off a perilously high cliff. captured at all angles using drones, gopros what death defying stunt doesn't look better when shot by a drone. that's incredible. stop. you know red bull and gopro, what they've done to the world. up next, how did donald trump? he says hillary clinton's e-mail scandal could be the deciding factor in this election. >> the fbi is doing a big investigation. we'll see. but the report i think is a total disaster for her and certainly a big part of the campaign. lou: we'll find out, talking with citizens united president david bossie. we take that up and a great deal more when we come back. we'll be right back. if you're taking multiple medications, does your mouth often feel dry? a dry mouth can be a side effect of many medications.
