please be with us. it will be interesting. he is running for the seat vacated by none other than marco rubio. rubio making noises. we will find out what those noises mean tomorrow night. gigantic crowd. new york. >> the crowd is not enough to win an election. charles: all right guys, here's lou. lou: good evening, everybody, i'm lou dobbs. we've learned more about the nation's dng in history. the major revelation that the wife of the orlando nightclub terrorist knew of her husband's deadly plans and did nothing to stop him. his wife may have assisted nim his heinous massacre which he killed 49 people, wounded 53 others. law officers tell us omar mateen's wife is cooperating in the investigation, and likely to be arrested. the fbi says it's investigating as well reports the terrorist

may have been a regular at the gay club he attacked. that mateen had been going there for at least three years and may have used gay dating apps to. assess all that we know of the attack we're joined by u.n. ambassador john bolton, counterterrorism expert sebastian gorka. a lot to cover including a donald trump rally in greensboro, north carolina. the rally just started. this is trump's first visit to north carolina in three months. trump is expected to respond to the harsh attacks today by president obama and speaker paul ryan who have now joined forces with hillary clinton to attack trump for using the phrase radical islam and putting a ban on muslim immigration. >> there's no magic to the phrase radical islam. it's a political talking point. it's not a strategy. >> a really important distinction that every american needs to keep in mind.
11:02 pm
this is a war with radical islam. it's not a war with islam. muslims are our partners, the vast, vast majority of muslims in this country, and around the world, want our moderate, they're peaceful, tolerant. lou: we'll be talking about those comments tonight with the five co-host kimberly guilgoyle about the explosion of the issues in the presidential campaign going to the heart of our two party political system, the leadership of the republican party, the administration's efforts to control language and thought that rises to the level of authoritarianism in the minds of many and the failure of the world's only superpower to destroy radical islamist terrorists over a period of almost 15 years. also tonight, the last primary election of 2016 ends in washington, d.c. in less than an hour. polls closing in the capitol city, hillary clinton, bernie

sanders tonight scheduled to hold a highly anticipated summit in washington, a meeting that concludes their hard fought, sometimes bitter battle for the democratic presidential nomination. some expect sanders tonight to concede to hillary clinton. our top story, the debate over the global war on radical islamist terror. a war that has been fought over a decade and a half and without victory. trump on the attack blaming president obama for his lack of courage and failure to name our enemy. radical islamist terrorists for failing to fight them effectively despite promising the american people he would, quote, degrade and destroy the islamic state. the battle lines are clearly drawn in this contest between clinton and trump. hillary clinton and president obama, who today tried to justify his refusal to use the term radical islamic terror while former secretary of state acceded to trump's demand that
11:04 pm
we name our enemies. on the right, trump, who said the president's refusal to name the enemy puts america at danger and control who enters this country whether refugee or immigrant. >> it would make isil less committed to trying to kill americans? calling it threat by a different name does not make it go away. this is a political distraction. >> nobody knows why he doesn't have more anger. why he doesn't have more competitive zeal. he's a competitive person. why doesn't he have competitive zeal to knock them out, bill. look at what's going on, the orlando attack was absolutely horrendous and yet he still doesn't use the word of radical islamic terror. lou: joining us tonight,
11:05 pm
co-host of "the five" kimberly guilgoyle, author of the best-seller making the case, now in paper back. >> good evening, lou. lou: talk about trump's assertion. i have not over the course of 7 1/2 years seen obama anger than he was, but all of his anger directed at donald trump. >> at donald trump. he can't muster up a little bit of energy to be upset or zeal, as trump mentioned against the terrorists and those who wade jihad globally and specifically here on our soil. if there was going to be a wake-up, you thought perhaps this would be it. but instead he seems to have drifted further away from the idea that we are at war with isis. and this does make us less safe because he's more interested in political correctness than an accurate sea. the threat we face on u.s. soil. >> you know, i pause when i hear the suggestion we're at
11:06 pm
war with isis, this president in point of fact reduced the number of sorties being flown against islamic state targets. we are less engaged with the islamic state, and the results have been pathetic. he promised he would destroy them over two years ago. >> right, the problem is he misunderstood and definitely underestimated the threat, and their capability and desire to achieve a caliphate. he called them the jv team, and all he succeeded in doing is giving isis and those that wage jihad a b-12 shot, they seem high energy as evidenced by what happened in orlando. lou: it is also very evident now he means to be in the middle of this campaign. he talk about a political distraction. he's creating the largest of his second term as he runs for hillary clinton's, if you will,
11:07 pm
election to his third term, figuratively speak. i don't understand what's going on in the man's mind, he's not making a lot of sense. i found much of what he said today and i've got to be straightforward with everyone, i found what he had to say to be more rationalization than analysis. talking about the naming of an enemy is tant amount to specious nonsense. >> he says there is no magic in using the phrase radical islamist terrorism. he doesn't get it. he's so afraid of words, it would be the worst night to play scrabble, he couldn't spell it, say it, he can't think about it. it's not his focus, not his priority. he's more interested being in professorial and teaching us about manners as it relates to be politically correct and embracing the muslim religion. he constantly says muslim is a religion of peace, not if you understand and read the koran which tells you to strike down the infidels.
11:08 pm
this is a complete waste of time and i'm worried about the what, last 219 days. lou: exactly. and paul ryan joining with president obama in trying to establish himself as the arbiter of what is appropriate language of the arbiter of what is the appropriate response to the radical islamist terrorist including the islamic state. >> tone deaf because americans want to be more safe, not less safe like what we saw happened over the last few days. the carnage what one individual was able to accomplish that pledged his allegiance to isis, we're missing the point here. it's an epic national security fail that will have long lasting ramifications and our military is very weak, much smaller in size than it has been in the past. and to be quite honest, we need them now more than ever as isis and other groups that wage jihad spread their tentacles to a vast region or area and
11:09 pm
groups pledging allegiance to isis like boko haram and other areas we have to fight isis like al-nusra and aqap. lou: kimberly guilgoyle, thanks for being here. >> we've got a lot to cover tonight, stay with us. lou: the dnc says russia hacked computers perhaps looking for info it can't find on hillary's; namely, the opposition research on donald trump. >> more and more countries are using hacking to steal our information to use it to their advantage. lou: we'll take that up and more with ambassador john bolton here next. and these scuba divers come face-to-face with one of the sea's deadliest predators, designed to swim and eat. swim and eat. we have that video for you of this close encounter of the scary kind.

>> i mean, if you think -- and i watched president obama today, and he was more angry at me than he was at the shooter. [booing] >> and many people said that. lou: indeed. well, russian government hackers have penetrated the democratic national committee's computer network. the hackers specifically targeting the entire database of opposition research on on donald trump. both the fbi and the department of homeland security have declined any comment. the state department, however, did voice its concern. >> i don't have any direct knowledge about this case. obviously, they're concerning, and if they're true, it would be deep concerning, you're right. it's not a u.s. government, the democratic national committee is a political organization not a u.s. government organization, but sure, that would be deeply concerning to us if it's true. lou: well, it's good to know there's concern about some
11:15 pm
things at the state department. joining me former u.s. ambassador to the united nations, american enterprise senior institute fellow, fox news contributor john bolton. good to have you here. >> good to be here. lou: donald trump saying president obama appeared far angrier at him than the shooter, fair or unfair? >> i think he was angry at domestic opponents and angrier than he was at terrorists as a whole. if you look at emotional level the difference between the first part of the speech talking about efforts against the terrorists and the second part of the speech was noteworthy and inappropriate. i think the president disgraced his office today. this is the time when families of 49 americans are grieving, it's the time to be the president of all the people, and instead two-thirds of his remarks today were a partisan political speech. it was cheap, it was small, it was very inappropriate. lou: and the anger that donald trump referred to.
11:16 pm
that anger was -- it seemed to be cloaking rationalization rather than analysis, to be cloaking, to be certainly more nonsense. this business about political distraction, to talk about naming your enemy, would it have been political distraction to name the nazis in world war ii. what in the world is this man thinking about? >> a complete red herring. you know the people in the world who have suffered most in the aggregate in the past several decades from islamic terrorists are other muslims. if you talk to officials in middle eastern countries, business people, they think we've lost our mind with the real ability to see who the enemy is, our enemy and their enemy, too. king abdullah called it a civil war with islam.
11:17 pm
if it's good enough for king abdullah, why isn't it good enough for president obama. lou: why isn't there more outrage among the american people? we have a president who has watched, he has not led a wartime effort against radical islamists. we are 15 years into this almost since september 11th, 2001, and we have not, as a superpower, we have not won. we've invested thousands of lives and trillions of dollars. we look to the world like fools and we're being led by men like president obama who have failed to come up with a winning strategy, who have talked about long wars and indeed they have delivered us a long war, haven't they. we need short wars, we need leaders who can command and drive us toward victory and this -- to me one of the great shame ofs this country is we
11:18 pm
have permitted this war to go on for a decade 1/2 without conclusion. >> you're absolutely right. the president doesn't want to acknowledge we're facing a radical ideology that fundamentally rejects every important aspect of civilization, it needs to be treated like a law enforcement issue because he really thinks that if the american people get revved up, they'll overreact and do something that will make things worse. he's the only thing between the american people and winning this war. lou: he is patronizing to the point, he's condescending to the point of utter ignorance. he obviously does not see that the american people, i'm going to couch this. that the american people can discern the difference between radical islam and islam. he doesn't seem to comprehend that, but on the other hand, perhaps he does and artifies and contrivance and a device he's using to pursue as donald
11:19 pm
trump said today, an objective of his own, not expressed. >> i think it reflects disdain for the american people for the reason you say, they're not as smart as barack obama is, they can't be trusted with the truth. and the fact is it shows disdain for muslims all over the world. they understand the difference between the terrorists and other muslims and try and act on it. we are not helping them by obscuring this difference. lou: what would we be if we didn't have the voice that some people like paul ryan and the republican party mitt romney reject the voice of donald trump here. he is the only one speaking clearly, emphatically and directly about the threats to this country, economically and geopolitically? >> i think trump understands that this is a war against american civilization. he's got a strategy which includes building up the american military. i think the president's speech today is a fork in the road if the trump campaign takes it. i think it puts hillary clinton
11:20 pm
in a difficult position, she's trying to embrace the president and trump ought to go after obama and her on this point does. she stand with obama on the terrorist issue or does she not? lou: and his blather on making discerning judgments. hillary clinton was forced yesterday because of what did happen sunday, and again, our hearts go out to the victims, to the families and friends of all of those that we've lost, but she actually had to admonish, that's the best word, admonish qatar, kuwait and saudi arabia for not doing enough for their citizens for financing global terror. more than a fork in the road? >> given the contributions the governments made to the clinton foundation over the years. lou: it's stunning she's reached to the point where she had to say something, she had
11:21 pm
to do something because this is coming down on her -- >> her only hope is i think to radically break with obama. i don't think she'll do it. lou: we'll find out. ambassador john bolton, thanks for being with us as always. >> thank you. lou: be sure to vote in our poll tonight. the question is -- we'd like to hear from you, cast your vote on twitter -- we're helping donald trump pick his vp. tongue-in-cheek. so far you've chosen rudy giuliani, chris christie and newt gingrich, for your consideration tonight, senator jeff sessions, former alaska governor, sarah palin or former senator marco rubio. who would you choose from those three? cast your vote on twitter. we'll have the results tomorrow. follow me on twitter --

of the republican nominee, and in those 12 days since his endorsement, ryan has only hit trump at each and every turn including again this morning. publicly rebuking trump's call to halt immigration from countries that have a history of radical islamist terrorism against the united states and our allies. speaker ryan obviously thinks so little of american citizens that he nl believes they can't discern the difference between a war between radical islamists and islam. pathetic, he thinks so highly of himself he has assumed the role of final arbiter what are and what are not appropriate statements by our presidential nominee. ryan makes a mockery of party unity and loyalty. he blathers on what he calls, quote, an obligation to call out trump and other members of the party, if they say things in his judgment are against the party's beliefs. and why does the liberal media quote and follow ryan's nonsensical complaints and
11:28 pm
declarations? well, straightforward. he is a useful tool for the democrats and the left, full stop, that's the deal. but ryan doesn't speak of his other obligations, first to the party and, of course, the nominee, to be vocally and energetically supportive. ryan blathers on about his contrived agenda rather than working with the republican nominee to create the republican agenda, not the ryan agenda. in a phrase, who the hell does ryan think he is? he's proving himself to be a rather simple opportunist of the worst sort, a functionary the donor class is making and bidding. ryan is a rhino, the romney republican, lacking the talent and appeal to be constructive or appreciative. to be grateful. nor can they govern, and in the face of a true leader they become braying obstructionists. ryan's short comes are

we're coming right back with much more. stay with us. donald trump ripped into president obama for being weak on border security and soft on radical islamist terror. >> we don't know who's coming in and frankly our president doesn't know what he's doing. lou: we take up the escalating battle between trump and obama and obama's friends and did i mention the national liberal media? ed rollins and michael goodwin join me next. this busy highway in utah busy on all four lanes and no happy landing in the floor lanes. we'll show you the video and a look at all these purchases you made with your airline credit card. hold on...you only got double miles on stuff you bought from that airline? let me show you something better.

. lou: as i mentioned, donald trump holding his rally in greensboro, north carolina right now. just moment ago, he called on the clintons. this is a brand-new development, to return those donations from middle eastern countries that are oppressive to women and gays. >> and yet she's taking, she's taken $25 million from certain countries and much more than that when you add it up, that treat women horrendously, that
11:35 pm
kill gays, and you know what's going to happen, folks, and you know what we're going to do right now? let's call for hillary and bill clinton to give back the 25+ million to the countries we're talk about. >> the audience in lockstep with the republican nominee. joining me former white house director and fox contributor and pulitzer prize winning columnist michael goodwin. that sounds like a brilliant stratagem right there. >> he's actually on a role with the targeted barbs to where the clintons and obama. i watched as he discussed the immigration issue and he talked about the fact that some of the countries that we're letting in thousands and thousands of people, they also treat women
11:36 pm
and gays horribly, and he says that party pretends to protect those people, but i'm the one who will protect them, because we're not going to let the killers into the country. lou: it's straightforward, killers from the countries that have history of conducting jihad, radical islamist terrorism against the united states, countries that engage in everything barbaric against women and there are many, not a few, in the middle east. and homosexuals who they -- i mean, it's just, again, monstrous and barbaric the way they're treated. >> by accepting the gifts and doing things for them which is coming out more and more and will in the course of this campaign, basically makes the hypocrisy out of the whole thing. she has a great ability to say it's a great republican right-wing conspiracy that does all the things. i wish we were as good as she claims we are.
11:37 pm
but i can tell you, i've watched a lot of presidential speeches over the last 50 years. this is the weakest speech i've ever seen made today, the president's response to this issue at a critical time. lou: can you imagine the blather. >> you can imagine george w. bush after 9/11 making this speech. he'd be blasted from one end of the face of the earth to the other. to every one of the people murdered and killed is every bit as significant. lou: 49 americans, 53 wounded. 49 americans killed and he's talking like there should be a sophomore tutorial on geopolitics. >> and he was distinctly lacking in any sense of sympathy for the dead. he lacked for the injured. >> anger. >> anger at criticism of him, not at the shooter. lou: anyone more important than him? >> that's his only cause. i agree with ed. i actually compare it to the jimmy carter's malaise speech
11:38 pm
which was inspirational by comparison. lou: both men shared a very common perspective. neither of them can quite come to terms for how it is that the followers in this country just don't understand how brilliant their leadership is. it's extraordinary. >> we don't do a very good job of fighting the enemy outside our boundaries, certainly ought to handle the enemies within. we have to realize there are enemies within and take the steps. we live in a city where we have extensive intelligence part of our police force. i promise you if some guy was on ray kelly's or bratton's list and got on it two or three times, they would know where the person, is they'd know where they're buying the weapons or where they're going. there's a lot of civil rights issues, there are terrorists that want to murder american citizens and the president and this country and the fbi have to protect us. lou: and frankly they've done a
11:39 pm
very good job over the course of 15 years without destroying the enemy. >> right. lou: and that is what keeps coming back to us, a decade and a half, and we've not won, spent trillions of dollars, sacrificed the lives of so many great soldiers, servicemembers, for what conclusion? we still have poppy fields that have never been torched in afghanistan. we still have the taliban now even in greater strength. i mean it goes on and on. the mindlessness of it all. >> i think we're going backwards, and i think the rise of islamic state, the creation of the caliphate, plus the attack at home now, these are significant events. i mean the san bernardino and now orlando. these are things that did not happen before, they're happening now, and if obama has been so good and right about everything --
11:40 pm
lou: he hasn't, he's been preposterous. >> why are things getting worse? lou: he wants to engage everything but empirically, and the idea that speaker ryan is stepping up here. if it were not for donald trump, first of all there would not have been five million more votes, four million more votes cast for the republicans than democrats. he has won the largest number of votes of any nominee and you have a man who's never had a national election with him on the top of a ticket. it's infuriateing. >> obviously, he's the leader of the house republicans and should be accountable for the house republicans, which i think he will. i think both romney and him who got this taste in their losing campaign four years ago, to think that they ran the right campaign and just lost by whatever, they don't like trump. lou: by five million votes. they were rejected i think is the expression.
11:41 pm
>> they are doing everything they can to trash the man that is the nominee. lou: somebody in the republican party, and i guess it's reince priebus, somebody, has got to say either you stop this or we're going to have five people, surrogates to specifically trash you every day that do you it. it's got to stop. and who needs -- what is his contribution to the republican party? zero, as far as i can see. >> i never hear him criticize hillary clinton. lou: or barack obama. ed rollins, michael goodwin, gentlemen, always great to see you. one driver's mistake setting off a shocking chain of events. none of it good. dashcam video captures the moment a driver switches he thought to an unoccupied lane on a busy salt lake city highway causing a second driver to swerve which hits a third car. watch this. here we go. a dramatic collision and then

the rollover crash, incredibly. i wouldn't even -- i would not in any way blame you if you did not believe me when i say at each one of these dramatic moments there were no major injuries. i wouldn't blame you, but i hope you go along with me on this. that's what we're told. looks impossible doesn't it. up next, donald trump says we can no longer afford to have a politically correct president fighting, fighting a war on terror. >> what happened in orlando is so disgraceful and so shocking on so many levels, and we just can't have a country like this. we need a president that's going to show passion. lou: counterterrorism expert dr. sebastian gorka joins us next, stay with us, we're coming right back with that and much more. stay with us.

11:48 pm
cold? well, your patient would die if you misdiagnosed it. these things matter, they're relevant, lou. lou: and the speech as i listened to, it sounded like more rationalization than analysis. it sounded much of it utterly preposterous. >> the really disturbing element is, is that the knee-jerk reaction of the administration is to always find the excuse for the perpetrator. now it's some kind of sexual identity crisis that he had. at the end of that logic train, you actually make the perpetrator the victim. it's not about his problems. we didn't look into hitler's childhood to explain the holocaust. we didn't look into the upbringing of brezhnev to explain the cuban missile crisis. this is an ideological threat to our nation. lou: as i heard the words, almost immediately from the president, came the words that this is an act of terror.
11:49 pm
frankly i was surprised he did not refer to it, cast some other term, and a hate crime. >> yes, instantly. lou: and the use of hate crime in that instance was to remove if from the theater of the war on terror. the war against radical islamists and at the same time reduced it to some sort of different motivation and hate, as if every act of terror is not an act of hate. >> right. lou: mindless! >> it diminish the significance of the act. it made it into one man's personal agenda. we have killed or arrested 103 people in america linked to isis in the last two years. this is a conspiracy. it's a global conspiracy. it's not about one man, it's about a global jihadi movement. lou: and the president seems to be, he talked about this as a political distraction, the concern about words like radical islamist. but his is the -- to me, the
11:50 pm
political distraction in his ineptitude, leading the military to victory, to think a superpower could spend trillions of dollars and sacrifice thousands of young american lives, and have no conclusion, let alone victory. there's no getting away from that, no deflecting our attention now. his and hillary clinton, because of the political context, i can't imagine how they could prevail? >> i think he's been caught. i think that anger, that petulance is the sign that he understands that people finally realize we are losing this war, but it can be won, but he doesn't have the answer. lou: the book is defeating jihad. the winnable war. dr. sebastian gorka, thanks for being with us, appreciate it. >> thank you for having me. lou: i highly, highly, highly recommend it. up next, donald trump says president obama continues to

says by the grace of god i got out of there but nonetheless we have a political reality. we are seven months away from this presidency idly coming to an end and it can't come too soon and by the way notably today's speech was president obama throwing hillary clinton under the bus because she had to get to a point where she was willing to call the enemy what the enemy is. the next day he contradicts her. she has to walk it back or she has to heads with barack obama. he is not running for anything. lou: apparently he is. it seems like he's running for a third term in his administration >> i was glad to see hillary clinton come out and say what she said that i have not been thrilled with anyone's real response to this. unfortunately a lot of what you are seeing is americans in times like this want to see somebody that channels their frustration and also provides comfort and
