or or stein. these things hillary said she is going to do should have been done when she was secretary of state, but nothing was done. thanks for being with us. peter schweizer joins us tomorrow. good night from new york. [♪] kennedy: thank you, lou. i laugh at your greatness. there are two things that define this election. whether you like the people running or not, both hillary clinton and donald trump are opposed to the trans-pacific partnership. a lot of people hate the tpp because the president negotiated it, and many people see him as dumb and wrong. he's gotten so much wrong it' hard to tell when he's right. believe it or not, he's right here when it comes to free trade which makes the world richer.
12:01 am
do you like convenience, access and cheaper stuff and open internet, then you are down with tpp. the president spoke earlier today about the 12-nation trade orgy. >> our economy currently has fewer tariffs and is more open than many of our trading partners. so if everybody agrees we'll have lower har rivers, that's -- lower tariffs, that's good for american businesses and american workers. kennedy: bernie sanders voters held up anti-tpp signs. they are good at hugs, but bad at math. don't listen to your commie friends when it comes to economics.
12:02 am
another reason to embrace tpp is hillary clinton's abandonment of a pac she once loved. she used to speak glowingly of the pac. >> the tpp sets the gold standard in trade agreements. kennedy: but then bernie sanders' populism infected her brain and she flipped like a burning pancake. >> the president should listen to and work his allies in congress to make sure we get the best, strongest deal possible. if we don't get it, there should be no deal. kennedy: she nation nancy pelosi sounds like martin luther king. even donald trump suffers from populism goes the weasle. >> bernie sanders was right.
12:03 am
he was against it. kennedy: when bernie sanders is directing the economic narrative, run in the opposite direction. let money and goods and labor circulate. give business and workers greater choices and fight for freedom in all of its forms. and whatever you do, don't listen to your inner commie. ron paul tells me why he's against the tpp. the cdc issued a zika virus travel warning for miami. globe trotting professional foodie adam richmond will be here with yummy trees. i'm kennedy. yesterday in pennsylvania donald trump criticized bernie sanders for endorsing hillary clinton. lambasting the democratic
12:04 am
frontrunner in the same breath. >> if she would not have done anything, gone home and went to sleep and relaxed. he would have been a hero. but he made a deal with the devil. she is the devil. kennedy: hillary clinton's take on her server scandal is so off base she appears to be discussion an alternate universe. which will backfire worse, trump's tirades or hillary's deceptions. let's ask my panel. welcome, everyone. it's hard to figure out. i think they are both overplaying their hands. they are both make massive mistakes. he's calling her the devil, going on the brutal offensive will be helpful to his poll

12:06 am
shoulder and get to the general election and all after sudden become presidential and change. dose have the self-awareness to change? >> no. the first thing you learn when you get married and meet your in-laws is you are not going to change them. whatever their entrenched habits are, they are not going to change. hillary is in her late 60s, donald trump is 70 years old. here is the thing. kennedy: let's ask more about your in-laws. but here is the thing. hillary has lied many times. but people know she is a liar and all politicians lie. donald trump has been caught on camera lying as well. but when you look at donald trump, some of the stuff he says is a national security threat. if you are going to choose between two liars, many people will say at the end of the day they may not have a choice than
12:07 am
to vote for someone who might not throw national security off by her off-the-cuff comments. kennedy: at least one of them mathematically will be your president. is there anything useful about what they are doing? >> no. it's like offensive to me as a writer when he says you make a deal with the devil. hillary is the devil. and that's of course the sad exclamation narkt tweets. there is not much to do. i'm not going the vote for either. but i do think another gloss on would you just said is do you want the sneaky liar, or the crazy thrier? sneaky versus crazy might be our election. kennedy: exactly.
12:08 am
>> i prefer crazy like a fox. kennedy: how do you deal with liars? >> the other thing you do is you stop listening when they talk. the american public has done that for decades. you have to do your best to see what they actually do. and at least with hillary we have a record and some idea what she might govern like with trump. >> i think a lot of trump's lies, he lies to mike himself look bert. but hillary's lies are because she is amoral and ethically challenges. kennedy: i think she has deep problems. >> i'm trying to be polite. also in terms of national security, i don't think someone who runs an insecure server while secretary of state, i'm
12:09 am
not trusting her. kennedy: program on that server are only supposed to be read on a alpha numeric code on a closed system. warren buffet taunted donald trump over his refusal to show his tax return. buffet offered to show his if trump would do the same. what do we make over this battle of the billionaires. do you think it's important for somebody running for president to release their tax return? >> i do only because it's based on expectation. i think in general too much is made of it. there was a gradual rollout and it became a kerfuffle. there is usually nothing in there, oh, my god, they made their money on crack. that's not going to show up in the tax return.
12:10 am
but the idea that there is going to be a smoke gun in there is probably not right. but the refusal to adhere to standard operating procedure when you are running a national campaign is worth noting. kennedy: it allows people to create conspiracy theories that might not exist. because he hasn't released his tax return people are saying he has ties to the mob and russia. and we would know this for sure if he released his tax returns. isn't it better to release it? >> i don't give a damn about trump's tax returns. i don't know why anyone cares about this. do i suspect they show's not as rich as he says. yes. do i think they will show minimal charitable donations? yes. >> the main point especially after the convention. you see people harden on both sides of the aisle who they are
12:11 am
going to choose to vote for. and i don't think whatever is revealed in the tax returns would turn the strong voters off. it's just not going to. kennedy: is there enough that can be made. obviously people dead set against them, it's not going to change their hearts. >> the undecideds, the independents, those economic all hurting, those who disavowed party affiliation. >> if the texas returns shows he's less rich than he's claiming that would turn into a big story. kennedy: thin would stop writing him letters asking for money. coming up millions of americans are student loan debt are avoiding those pesky phone calls demanding payment. will the left bail them out? is that what they are waiting for?
12:14 am
12:15 am
$85 billion. let's ask the party panel. kirsten, i'll start with you, there are a lot of millennials who entered the workplace and they want what you say is instant gratification. >> that's the culture millennials have grown up with. they want to go to college immediately rather than taking a couple years off and saving money. as soon as they graduate they want to have the very best job. and none of that is realistic. to say i'm not going to pay my student loans because i don't want to deal with them. now when they are faced with this escalating debt, it's becoming a major problem that tack pairs will have to bail them out. if they do, that might be the on solution, but it's treating what the symptoms are. it's not treating the roots. kennedy: it doesn't deal with
12:16 am
the root cause at all it's very expensive. there is no such thing as free tuition. but telling a group of people, it's okay to default on your debt because you have good intentions. there is something wrong with that it seems. >> they are defaulting to the federal government. we switched to a system where the federal government is the lender for these student loans. when you borrow money from somebody and you don't have the money to pay it back, you avoid them. people now have that relationship with the federal government and that's not healthy it's not a good outcome to say ebb owes the federal government cash, it cannot be foregiven and it cannot be discharged in bankruptcy. that's didn't than housing debt. >> they never should have gone the into the business of doing student loans in the fir place
12:17 am
and it contributes to rising tuition costs. kennedy: you have massive administrator's fees and those salaries are on growing. there is no free market to keep schools or encourage schools to keep tuition costs down. they keep raising them because they know there is a guarantee, a pot of federal money where student will dip in. >> that's common sense. you so you throw that out the window and not talk about it. i'm a little hurt you didn't go to me for the millennial perspective. i am an honorary member of every generation. i was reborn after 1980. i think it's a little unfair to blame this on millennials. he millennial wants to go to college and go to the best school. i think he generation has wanted
12:18 am
to do that. i think millennials are getting a bad wrap asking about the on ones going through this. it's easy to say you took the loans, you need to pay them back. but we are talking about people who can't pay them back. >> i don't know what the answer is, but, you know, i think a lot of people lived with not want to go answer the phone or check their mail. i went through a period of my life where i did not want to check the mail he day because it would not be good news. i keep the ringer off on my phone. >> i don't understand. what is it psychologically. >> they are waiting for president clinton part two to take a pixie wonk. >> you can't imaginically forgive the debt. that's taxpayers' money.
