tv   Lou Dobbs Tonight  FOX Business  August 4, 2016 11:00pm-12:01am EDT

11:00 pm
cover. maybe a remake of jaws. lou: with that we bid adieux. charles: a hell of a victory going into the election. we're out of time, here is lou dobbs. lou: good evening, i am lou dobbs issue mainstrea mainstream liberal media in a feeding frenzy attacking the republican nominee. hillary clinton meanwhile still has not held a news conference in 244 days, that goes all but unmentioned in liberal mainstream media. it has been 8 months since she took questions from the political press core that covers her day in and day out. today she did do an interview with a local reporter in denver, she repeated her
11:01 pm
earlier lies on our chris wallace. she said they did. and she repeated he herself today. trump made sure to hit clinton's lies as he campaigned in portland, maine. you will not hear about that. they don't mention crowd sizes, they find those numbers embarrassingly small for former secretary of state. but trump's campaign principle problem is handful of establishment types who happen to be in the republican party. to ensure hillary clinton is defeated in november, i'm talking about house speaker paul ryan, mitt romney, the bush family, and the koch brothers.
11:02 pm
who cannot come to terms with fact that 14 million people voted for trump in the preprimary elections, paul line said this today. >> i see and hear things that i think are wrong i'm not going to say nothing. i think i have a duty as a republican leader to defend republican principles and our party's brand. if i think they are being distorted. we just came out of our convention, he has had a strange run since then. you would think we should be focus on hillary clinton. on how her deficiencies, she is such a weaker candidate, one would think we would be on offense it is distressing that is not what we're talking about. lou: ryan himself generated more headlines in attacking donald trump than he has for attacking clinton. i'll take up the republican establishment for liberal media attacks on trump with former reagan white house
11:03 pm
political director ed rollins, and rnc rules committee randy evans. also with us sam slew of is. -- sam clovis, we have a lot to talk about including evidence that obama administration paid ra ransom for hostages held. today one, said hostages were waiting for another plane to arrive before the iranians would allow th aircraft to depart. >> i just remember the night that we have been in the airport, take hours and hours, i asked one of the police there, was with us, why you are not letting us to go to plane. and he told me. we're waiting for another plane if that plane takes off then we'll let you go. >> you slept at the airport. >> for a night.
11:04 pm
they told us, ul be there for 20 minutes but it took hours. we slept there. and i asked them why you don't let us go, the plane was there, pilot of the there, everyone was ready. they said we're waiting for another plane. and until that plane does not come we never let you go. lou: shocking stuff. we'll take up lack of outrage over liberal slamming gold star families, not so lan so long ago that msnbc chris matthews said this about the mother of shane smith. >> i think it was wrong, i don't care what that woman up there mother has felt her emotions are her own but for country in choosing a leader wrong that someone can tell a lie about hillary clinton, not true, it is logically not true it she had anything to do in that case even if all
11:05 pm
arguments about what she said afterwards or susan rice said are true. anybody that thinks about it for a second, st not true, i think it wrong they ruin their evening with this. lou: extraordinary. our top story. race for white house. donald trump falling behind in key battle ground states. clinton now leading trump in florida by 6 points, she is up 9 in michigan, 17 in new hampshire. 11 in pennsylvania. nationally, a new reutters poll shows clinton up 4. 43-39, closer race in "l.a. times" usc national poll. clinton virtually tied with trump 45 to 44. no mention of polls at trump's rally in main, trump on message, and laser focused it
11:06 pm
seemed to threat that hillary clinton poses to our national security. >> she made everyone less safe. those 33,000 e-mails, are potentially a danger to the nation. and if anybody thinks that was for a wedding and for yoga -- when she got away with that, i said that is probably the greatest accomplishment she had in politics. lou: randy evans is joining us member of rnc rules committee. great to have yo here. >> and former reagan white house ed rollins. lou: let me turn last night ed, you said, trump should go play golf, and let it wash away? >> he is fighting with himself in a way. the polls are what they are,
11:07 pm
they are relevant today. they are about this moment. but 3 or 4 or five points you can close that up quickly. but if you say, you know change in a day, they are not going to do polls for a month. he has to go to states, they are good warning marks to fix those states. lou: battle ground states. >> 7 or 8 we need, we need to fix florida, and fix pennsylvania that is a long shot, we need to hold ohio, and repair north carolina, and start running a campaign, he can't do it by himself, he should -- if you want to attack hillary. and benefit me, you should benefit us all, if you get your 200 plus members of congress to go out attack her every day, saying she is not honest and truthful. that is the best thing he could do for us.
11:08 pm
lou: he has evidence she is an fbi certified liar. >> and lied before congress, you know. they will say that. >> what this all reminds me of. british headlines after bunker hill, where a massive army dressed in red fighting a rag tag continental army, the continental army did not fight in a regular way. neither does donald trump, on occasion they shot themselves in the foot, but they ended up winning the war. he need what ed said, a valley forge moment, get your house in order, troops trained, focus on enemy for a month, you go at it. we have something, donald trump has something that hillary clinton does not. that is passion for a real dream. passion for a future. a message that will resonate.
11:09 pm
imagine donald trump on the -- south side of chicago. he said to them, that i want to give you a paycheck. i want to give you a job. 8 years from now you will still get that paycheck and live in the same streets and same bad school, if you let me give you a job 8 years from now you have a house, you have a dream, you have a car. your kids will go to school where they want to go, which one do you want? do you want to stay with status quo or go for the american dream? that is the real difference that will come out after labor day. lou: to me, it seems it is straight forward what is going on, if you want status quo, that is below historical levels of economic growth. if you want to main gain stat is -- maintain status quo, if you want more of what this president, in his secretary of
11:10 pm
state, delivered over last 7 years, then you don't need to vote for me, but if you want a future, and build the middle class instead of shrink it, if you want people to focus on more money in pockets of working men and women, imyou're guy. he has been saying that, he was first to say it, he is turned his back it seems on his message. >> that is the right message, if you want more lies, and more dealing with enemies like this iraq deal, then go ahead, she is barack obama. if you want change, if you want this place to work to try to make a better place for your kids, your grand kids, then make that vote. >>y technology -- it can't be in all dark message. it really does have to say, do you want a paycheck or a government check?
11:11 pm
now, paycheck you get dream, a large part. lou: the danger of that is, randy, the danger with that check is that millions of americans right now, all they have is that government check, and by the way they heard bull from the trickle down geniuses at business round table and chamber of commerce, they heard that from republicans for years, they need the path and -- passion and vice, in my opinion of donald trump, up close and personal, not talking about from a hangar, i am talking you said go to south chicago, go to south chicago into the communities, and show donald trump who is an impressive figure, you know he will be as he says and promises a president for all the people. >> it is why i don't worry about that many republican establishment in washington will not back him, i would not
11:12 pm
want them to back me if i were donald trump. i would want to say this is a part of the problem. i am a different kind of republican. i am coming to your neighborhood. i am going to get you a job. so you can get a house with a car and a better school. if you want hillary clinton, guess what? 8 years from now, you will live in the same condition you are today. lou: i just have a great slogan. you know, for trump. you know she lied to everyone else, why do you think you're different. >> we know what the clintons can do. they will rent out lincoln bedroom, and all they have done for 30 years, critical thing, to your point, you want a leader who will make this country move forward, or did you want status quo. lou: right. >> and donald trump proves he can make deals that will get things moving. lou: right. >> he proves it day in day out.
11:13 pm
>> i don't think he would pay $100 milacron for million for a hostage. hostage. lou:400 million dollars. the cost of an atomic bomb is 100 million. >> i am sorry finish the thought. >> i was going to say, just think, how the -- how stupid president must think that american people are, we could not figure out, that if you have to wait on a plain t plane to land was there some connection between the two. lou: i think there is a great connection, almost, almost a hist evolution from definition of is to definition of ran some for what are called detainees, i believe they are called hostages. >> randy and ed. >> thank you. >> thank you. lou: we're coming right back with a lot more today and tonight.
11:14 pm
we're covering as much as you can possibly ask. stay with us, we're coming right back with all that. >> donald trump is not only in the fight of his life against hillary clinton. he is fight her liberal national media, globalists of bloiboth parties, leftists, lobbyists on all fronts. >> we have a problem, you bull your way through it. lou: sam clovis joining me next on trump's fight on a 360 degree front. >> this parachutist and pilot. performed a high-flying stunt that will have your adrenaline pumping. we have the amazing video right after these important messages.

i have asthma... ...one of many pieces in my life. so when my asthma symptoms kept coming back on my long-term control medicine. i talked to my doctor and found a missing piece in my asthma treatment with breo. once-daily breo prevents asthma symptoms. breo is for adults with asthma not well controlled on a long-term asthma control medicine, like an inhaled corticosteroid. breo won't replace a rescue inhaler for sudden breathing problems. breo opens up airways to help prove breathing for a full 24 hours. breo contains a type of medicine that increases the risk of death from asthma problems and may increase the risk of hospitalization in children and adolescents. breo is not for people whose asthma is well controlled on a long-term asthma control medicine, like an inhaled corticosteroid. once your asthma is well controlled, your doctor will decide if you can stop breo and prescribe a different asthma control medicine,
11:17 pm

11:18 pm
lou: trump campaign chairman paul manafort today, reacting to accusations of campaign turmoil. >> i am chairman of the campaign, we have a campaign position was not getting involved in primaries, i support him as a speaker, and after next week i will support
11:19 pm
him as candidate for president i mean. >> there you go. >> oops. joining me, trump campaign national co-chair, sam clovis. what happened there? >> i think like a lot of people who are thinking about a million things at once, then, i think mr. floyd would say that was a slip. maybe we'll let it go. i think that mrs. clinton had one of those yesterday as well. if i remember. we all do, we all have them from time to time. lou: what did she do, tell the truth? >> i think she did. how would she know? you know, how would we ever be able to judge that? lou: let me tell you, i have covered a lot of conventions over the years, i have never
11:20 pm
seen one like this campaign. and to have the vice president endorse a fellow that presidential nominee is not ready to. to have campaign chair talking about pushing a man to president who you know -- is not a favorite of either trump or trump supporters. that is -- that is tremendous diversity. i comment am yo compliment you for it. it does not seem helpful for unity. >> i think inside the campaign paul talked about is true, and mr. trump talked about, we have a singular focus to accomplish, we're starting to lay it out there. i think you will science credible movement over -- you will see incredible movement over the summer to ground game. this is a brutal fight to get to this. and to the conferencetion, we've been -- convention, we've been working our tails
11:21 pm
off to raise money. we had a great month last month, i am confident. lou: you have to be a little concerned that your trajectory is short lived, talking 3 months to election day. >> 96 days to, right. and i think that not that we're counting, but -- we're looking at those days, and we have a lot to accomplish. i know that every night when i get done with my media hits, i get to my motel room, i have a pile of thins to get through. i have been on phone with colleagues in campaign today. lou: let me ask -- >> we're getting in a tremendous amount of movement and old ward is a vector where you have direction and vel on thetyocity. >> you will need some, regain altitude.
11:22 pm
i am a little concerned about what i am watching from paul ryan, the bushes and the koch brothers. they are pushing this they are not supporting hillary clinton, i think that is what we would call a damn lie, not supporting donald trump ethe nominee and party, and closing ranks to get it done, they know very well, is a vote for hillary clinton. >> i think what they all have in common, where mrs. clinton, and others on the democrat side, is they are far too comfortable with large government. lou: they are globalists. >> and big government. lou: and your campaign is about working men and women, their families and middle class, and america first. sam clovis, we're delighted you could join us we
11:23 pm
appreciate it. >> always love coming on, great to see you. lou: thank you. >> you bet. lou: vote in our poll. do you believe the reason that left supports photo i.d.es for almost everything except voting suggestions they might be thinking about an election? cast your vote on lou dobbs. follow me on twitter. like me on facebook. links to everything at loudobbs.com. >> and roll video. >> watch this, as this stunt plane, pilot and skydiver, working to perform a series of breath taking aerial stunts, they two czech daredevils completing this, incredible.
11:24 pm
at one point skydiver hovering on the tail of the plane before both fly low to ground in perfect sink. watch this. wow. amazing. >> up next to know do donald trump said there is no doubt hillary clinton tried to cover-up her e-mail scandal. >> she deletedhem to cover-up her crime, folks, 100%. not 99%. 100%. she deleted those e-mails to cover-up what could be a major crime. lou: that cover-up is still going on, and that is the subject of my comment territory night. -- commenttary, tonight. stay with us, that and more

director comey said my answers were truthful and what i said is consistent with what i told the american people, that there were decisions discussed and made to classify retroactively certain of the e-mails. lou: lordy, lordy, lordy. to pinocchio's from the "washington post" of false rating from fact check.org and the pants on fire rating from and that sounds even worse from politifact's. she got away with lying to the fbi and to congress and the voting public. >> secretary clinton said there was no big mark class from e-mail sent or received rave secretary clinton said i did not e-mail any questions at material
11:30 pm
to anyone on my e-mail, there is no classified material to the thatcher? >> there was classified material to e-mails. lou: so who are you going to believe? you know why seven in 10 americans say hillary is dishonest? well what are those three folks thinking? none of that gave pause to the democratic nominee. clinton an interview with the colorado local news reporter and incredibly chose to lyme about her lies. >> what kinds of stuff was in the e-mail? >> it was all personal stuff and is the fbi said everything that i said publicly has been consistent and truthful with what i told them. lou: you just heard what the fbi said. it's not nuanced at all. clinton's lies seem to be expected by many if not most americans and their expectations seemingly smooths the way to acceptance. she is a known liar and it's
11:31 pm
just her way. people seem to be saying she has lied countless times about her e-mail scandal in that private server of hers. in 2008 she famously lied about landing under sniper flied -- sniper fire. she lied about being dead broke when she and bill clinton left the white house. she lied about the defense of marriage act and act to stop an anti-marriage constitutional amendment and hillary lied to the families of benghazi victims about a video being responsible for the death of four americans. the secretary hasn't held a press conference since last december. let me add that up for you, here it is. 244 days and counting, a woman who wants to be president of united states states refusing to go before the press corps.
11:32 pm
is it possible that her refusal to hold news conferences is a timesaver for all of us? because she would likely lyme even more. mrs. clinton has never, not once, been held accountable for her lies. hers is an almost parallel, paranormal existence in which consequences just don't occur, at least not to her. others are not so fortunate. our quotation of evening from ralph waldo emerson. shallow men believe in lack or circumstance trauma and belief in cause and effect. i believe cause and effect may for a time be suspended by luck but i also believe presidential campaigns that physics eventually reasserts itself even in the swamp of presidential politics.

lou: the mainstream liberal media refusing to acknowledge the large, massive crowds that donald trump troth to his rallies in the relatively modest crowds that hillary clinton draws. trumps event in jacksonville, florida attracted more than 10,000 supporters in one expert had it at 15,000 and eight at town hall in portland maine trumps top to a full house of an estimated 3000 people. compare that to hillary clinton in las vegas today talking to just over 1000 people. that's down from yesterday's 3000 supporters in colorado. he consistently out draws hillary clinton everywhere he go. the national liberal media
11:38 pm
doesn't want to admit it. joining me fox contributor charlie herd. let's start with a simple question why is hillary clinton lying about lying? we have reached a new level of absurdity and awfully bad conduct. >> what did you expect out of her? i would expect nothing else at this point i think it's probably why she has such a problem with credibility with voters across the spectrum. literally even when she is saying something mundane and the words coming out of her mouth sound like they are lies. and the reason for that i think is not that she's just so often sensing that she so calculating and so overly packaged that she's talking about the sunshine, talking about how much she loves her grandkids and it sounds like she's not telling the truth which of course isn't the entire reason why donald trump has walked away with the republican nomination and is
11:39 pm
doing far better right now in the polls than anybody predicted in a general election. whether you like it or not he sounds like you speaking from the heart. he's saying what he believes. lou: and actually talking about the issues and he is talking and by the way he is establish the agenda that has been to this point at least the basis of debate. >> that is such an important point and we forget about it but we have talked about so much during the primary and the general election too. you have democrats now and you have hillary clinton walking away from the fair. , the tpp business. who would have ever imagined that donald trump would not defining the republican primary but also the general election? lou: and by the way the new watch barack obama nato to a terrorist focus a matter of days after donald trump recommends
11:40 pm
that and his strategic foreign-policy speech. i mean this is getting to be laughable. hillary clinton, we don't know where she's going to land but we do know one thing irrespective of the fact that most americans still don't want t. p. p., despite the fact that he wants to claim his third term for him as opposed to it come he's going to have tpp so how much conviction do you really believe she has hillary clinton on tpp? >> the answer is zero. she will do whatever she needs to do and i will be interested to see lou over the next couple of weeks at a trump successfully gets back to these issues and hammering her on these issues and talking about the ransom that was paid to iran i will be interested to see how quickly she starts to distance herself. she has already tried to distance herself but it's not a five alarm fire yet. at some point if trump stays on
11:41 pm
that she's going to have to completely run away from that and i will be interested to see how quickly he takes her to reverse itself on that. lou: charlie very quickly, we are in the time that paul ryan in the koch brothers and the other pseudo-republicans, you know i mean they are obviously supporting hillary clinton but don't have the guts to say it when they refuse to support energetically enthusiastically and sincerely the party's nominee, right? b absolutely and that you think it's interesting what we are seeing now in the press and a the full attack on donald trump from all sides, when did it happen? it happened when he refused to endorse paul ryan. i think that's very significant. that's the thing that these people care about more than anything else. lou: think about this one what would the republican party be without paul ryan? es contributed, he has three
11:42 pm
pieces of legislation in 17 years. he hasn't passed a budget as speaker. there is nothing there, unless i missed something charlie. >> no, no it's true but it's interesting these people circle the wagons for their fellow politicians like nothing else. lou: and the american people better understand what they're watching is precisely that a reflex of a threatened establishment establishment launching out in all directions at one man who can actually change the direction of the establishment and the country. charlie herd thanks for being here. roll the video please. watch as a louisiana man armed with nothing but a power washer takes down to carjackers, that's right, a power washer. the man washing his car the would-be thieves surprise him, one of them brandishing a gun. he quickly springs into action

fighting them off with a stream of water so powerful the crooks take off running and by the way he did pretty well without power washer wants too. good for him. that fellow has as the saying goes saeb. up next donald trump says voters have a stark choice this november. >> four more years of obama if you elect hillary clinton. four more years. the most important issues facing civilization right now is radical islamic terrorism and we have a president -- [applause] we have a president that won't use the term, he won't say it. lou: he won't even whisper radical islamists. we will take that up and how our military is quick to respond.
