>> better, cheaper, more abundant and available than before. >> i can't wait. and that's our show. kennedy: from the stable, capable hands of lou dobbs, i take you to the best part of your day. we need strong and independent voices to challenge the presidential nominees. the left is still in the throes of a revolution that is going way past growing pains. green party nominee jill stein is finally getting some media play, and she is pulling no punches from going after hillary clinton. here she is from last night' town hall.
8:01 am
>> part of the problem with hillary is abuse of the rules. she was sort of too big to jail. kennedy: then dr. stein laid out the case against the untameable shrew. >> i have serious questions about hillary's judgment, her safeguarding of national security information, and above all, her trustworthiness in the job where she'll have her finger on the button given how she handled major decisions both around the war in iraq, but then especially around the war in libya where she led the charge. kennedy: you go, girl. hillary is a compromise candidate with an unsavory past who should be in jail with her icy finger nowhere near the

information presented to the national security council it's a generic overview, assessments of world leaders and crises around the world. it's sensitive information but it's not choosified at the highest levels. they are briefed on how to properly handle this information. they are required to sign a statement how they will handle it properly. and i can't see how this goes wrong. sorry. kennedy: i don't know. he got into it with the seetcr service after his second amendment comments that were taken by some to be inappropriate. he came out of the briefing and basically lambasted the intelligence community saying there are a lot of people in the community that he's not going to keep on board. who is he talking about? >> who knows. you will have to ask him and he may not know. he said if elected president he
8:06 am
wouldn't use the intelligence community based on this track record of more than a decade in his minds much total failure. as someone who is hopelessley undecided and sad about the whole election. we have a woman who knowingly compromised the intelligence, and another candidate who isn't interested in the intelligence. what's a boy to do. kennedy: you and i spoke about this. >> are you going to vote for stein? >> what trump is saying is an indication perhaps he doesn't understand. he's a smart guy. but he may not understand the process. he seems to be saying the decisions the past 10 years so i don't trust the intel people. the intel community collects and analyzes information. then it goes into the washing

machine at the white house. they set the priorities and make the policy decisions. i'm worried about his statement that he goes out there and comments and trashes some of the intel community times. he's making a mistake if he thinks they are the ones who set the policy. >> you are suggesting he might not have a firm grasp. kennedy: what does it say that he took flynn and christie? >> i shows he will continue to criticize. i think it's more after signal to his supporters, not necessarily criticism of the intelligence community but saying we are going to do the opposite of everything the white house has done. and that's what i think speaks to its supporters. kennedy: some of tim kaines past is getting dredged up.
8:08 am
he says' temperature you should resign in the the middle of a sexual harassment scandal. >> people aren't asking me about awlds old controversies, they are asking about tomorrow. kennedy: did he handle this well? >> i'm thinking about tomorrow which is exactly what bill clinton's theme song would suggest he do. he handled that as well as he could. but this is the story of tim kaine's career. when he was running in vniirgia he w much moreonservative. now that he's running on a democratic ticket with a party that lurched to the left. a lot of dancing and singing, a lot of harmonica playing. but this pales in comparison.
8:09 am
now saying i'm in favor of or go along with taxpayer funding of abortion. that's a more serious issue in my book. kennedy: it brings up something that made progressives upset when he was announced as her vp pick. that's why they were holding up the no tpp signs because they despised his views on free trade and this agreement which he supports. do you think given some of the deficits he has, does this matter in the election conversation? >> compared to the flip-flops the republicans are doing to support trump, i don't think it thatters. thatters. -- i don't think it matters. i think kaine will go along to get along just like republicans are doing. kennedy: i think boring and weird.
8:10 am
do you think it will create a frosty relationship with bill? >> no, bill has his eye set on a big per prize. kennedy: he could get back as the tim kaine by making time with his best girl. >> bill is too smart to let this bother him. i like this for a moral base reason. tim kaine whenever it was, 2002, said during this comments that it's an awful way to treat women. now he's saying well, that was 2 some years ago, now i think it's okay. i don't have a problem with it now. but it exactly what people expect like we are talking about. exactly what people expect from politicians. that's why i don't think it will have any impacts. kennedy: the capacity tore rationalization on both sides never ceases to amaze me.

it wasn't rape, it was alpha sex. >> remember the one free grope everyone gets? everyone gets one free grope. >> is this life or an annual thing? >> if i make, i don't know -- if i met favio on the elevator. you say no. kennedy: my panel will return to discuss battle grounds states swinging for clinton and how third parties may take up the mix.

kennedy: according to the quinnipiac university swing state polls, it's too close to call in iowa. when you factor in third-party candidates there is a noticeable difference where clinton's lead shrinks to 8 points with libertarian gary johnson taking 7% and 3% taken by jill stein.
8:15 am
let's talk about these numbers. i think they should be factoring in these candidates. it's not like magically on election day it will be just hillary clinton and donald trump. >> colorado and virginia look like they are off the board. i don't know if we can call them sphwhing this election. if i'm donald trump look at these polls. iowa, nevada, ohio, florida is in danger of slipping away. pennsylvania is the one prize he needs. if i were him, i would fly back and forth between pennsylvania and florida, occasionally diverting elsewhere. if you can't get those two the whole ballgames over. and they are both in rough shape. he needs to improve. kennedy: he's going to ohio and north carolina. it's going to come down to the electoral map and the swing states.
8:16 am
even in some polls where he's close by a couple points, and those polls are pretty rare at this point. he's still having a tough time in those crucial parts of the country. >> the self-fulfilling prophecy. people start talking, can you turn it around. this builds on its own momentum. i don't know if the viewers care about what i'm saying at so polls confuse me. i don't pay a lot of attention to them. i like to hear what people are saying about policy. now i have got to pay attention to polls because there is no policy. kennedy: what's driving them. >> i won't say the polls are wrong. but trump is sort of being trump
8:17 am
in that he's not doing the traditional republican route of going to the swing states. i like that he's making a play for the blue collar, the blacks and hispanics, whether or not they will listen. i am almost looking past this election saying at least we are making a play. kennedy: are you a republican? >> i got a republican tattoo in the 90s because of you. >> i got a big tattoo because you. that's how word play goes. kennedy: a big game of telephone. when we pick up on the other end we don't hear a confusing message, we all lose. kennedy: the party panel returns later. there are reports out. something going on there. the olympics.

8:22 am
there is no one better to ask. >> might be better to ask him. kennedy: donald, come on out. >> they try to spin it, this is no deal, we are changing staff. if you are change your campaign 11 weeks before the election it will make news. kennedy: do you think he should have waited? >> no, it would be big news either way. my communications mind said he gave this speech about law and order tuesday night. i didn't think it was the best speech i ever saw. but it was decent. rudy giuliani said it was the best speech any republican has ever given. including abraham lincoln. but before the speech could make it into the newspapers in the morning, the campaign announcement had been made so it superseded it. it stepped on top of it.
8:23 am
kennedy: is there anything in this news that's good for the trump organization? >> a reboot at this point might not be that bad. they have a lot of things going for them. but a lot of things in the numbers are not down. in all the battleground state he's down. but not so much he can't come back. the debates will be super good for him. kennedy: it could be a game changer. this is what everyone has been waiting for the entire elect cycle. donald trump when he doesn't have a specific plan, he says i'm going to put the best people in place. there is an implicit trust required that you have to place in him to know that no matter what happens, if he can't do it, if he doesn't know by the, he will put someone in place to do that. but when you have your third campaign manager in two months,
8:24 am
it looks like you haven't been putting the best people in place. and why didn't he put bannon and conway in charge in the first place. >> or why didn't he just fire paul manafort. if you are a small government person, that's what you want to see. you are not going to be layering people oh other people. paul manafort has been in the news over possible impropriety with russia. i don't know what they are doing. i wish i could tell you. kennedy: i talked to anthony scaramucci this morning on "outnumbered" because he was on the couch. he got quite a grilling. he says paul manafort is still in charge which doesn't make sense if you have a guy called the ceo, which is what steve
8:25 am
bannon is. he was the ceo and editor of "breitbart news." >> i don't think we'll know until we see some across the next two weeks. kellyanne conway said we'll just let him be himself. we don't want him to feel boxed in. that's super entertaining. the thing is it's not like he's trying to make up three point. he's trying to make up 9 points. so you got a lot of room to do. hillary clinton doing the olympics ran ad. donald trump had rallies, did not run any ad. but this social media presence is pretty good. if he thick he can tighten this up between after labor day and the fir debate, he might just try to be himself. at this point, it's go for broke. kennedy: you have to go for it. there are people who say he want
8:26 am
to lose. if he does want to lose, it's certainly going to be entertaining. the thing that will be most interesting is what role he will take if he does lose and how much of a thorn he will be in hillary clinton's side day after day. i think he will keep holding press conferences and keep running, even if he doesn't want to seek the presidency. >> he might question where she was born. kennedy: she was born in kenya. that's the weird thing. and her mom is sir edmond hillary. thank you for being here. i always appreciate your insight. have sieb tests bred a type of dog specifically designed to ♪ music
