something -- 3 1/2 months ago the director made a statement which caused angst in a number of people in and out of the bureau. they have been working on this for 3 1/2 months. they have something solid or he never would have had to say what he had to say today. impossible. lou: why would he frame it, talking about director james comey, why would he reframe the opening in terms that they did to see it is pertinent to see whether or not it is worthwhile, and he won't know for sometime? because my impression, and i think what you're saying, if i may infer here, you're saying he had to know this was substantial and a very big deal or he wouldn't have had the temerity to reopen the investigation 11 days before a presidential election? >> bingo, you're right on target, lou. he used the mechanism, the letter today to pull the tip of the iceberg out of the water. he knows what the depth and breadth of that iceberg is

right now. if you noticed today, a subtle thing, i saw hillary get out on her first appearance in iowa today. she used the worst enemy in there was her briefing book, she was flipping the pages and couldn't keep track of what's going on. she knows what's coming, she knows based on what she did something is coming. i'll guarantee you that. lou: do you think that james comey, the fbi, would be willing to listen to both hillary and her campaign head john podesta. they asked for whatever they've got in the way of evidence to be released to the american people in this important presidential election with 11 days to go, as i said. >> yes, i heard her say, we want everything, we've been vindicated, we want you to produce everything. that's nonsense. you know, that's just another -- guess right along with her

way of lying about everything that the clinton campaign does right now. it's ridiculous. the other thing, lou, they think we have to remember is twice during appearances with comey before the committee, they asked him about the foundation. he said once he dodged the question once, the second time he said i'm not talking about that. you suppose that maybe they've been digging around in that foundation and found a few things as well that's going to be very, very difficult for the clintons to get through? >> to be honest with you, bill, i had the sense, and this is only a sense, obviously, but that this investigation, whatever form it takes, the scope has been widened considerably, though it may have been the result of an investigation in some serendipity is the way it seems to many in finding something on an huma abedin device or that

of her estranged husband, former congressman anthony weiner. you know, we've been told that hundreds of agents have been at work in this case that governor mcauliffe of virginia still under investigation. what is the mood? what is the morale like in the fbi right now amongst agents? >> i think it's probably mixed emotions there. you know not having been part of that investigation or privy to how the conclusion was reached, i haven't got a lot to say about that, but i know agents. if they don't believe in something, they'll keep working and working and working until they get what they believe is the truth, and where an investigation should be going. i hear a lot of people say about the fbi's lost accountability there, political, nothing could be farther from the truth. maybe some of the management of the fbi --

think would be of immediate extraordinary help to the trump campaign, your thoughts? >> well, first keep in mind this still is the obama administration department of justice. i hope we might see maybe a grand jury convene to look at the evidence that comey was making reference to. i still don't trust the obama administration. they have this department of justice has overseen corruption for eight years and done nothing about it. the question is will hillary be in the white house or the big house? who really knows? it's not going to affect her supporters, okay? they've been a part of supporting. lou: i get that, and i know that that's sort of the talking point right now of the left. but i have seen some pretty amazing reactions today on the part of those who do support her. >> they're on the margin. look, they supported a corrupt administration for eight years

where, this makes a difference, lou, are the people on the fence right now. this is a major red flag. we've seen what lawlessness in our leadership at the top of the nation results in. chaos in our communities. we've seen it for eight years. it also, i believe, should effect the evangelicals sitting on the side lines saying look, this is a choice i don't want to have to make. look -- lou: poor, babies! come on! >> i have no patience for that because we have, in part we have made this mess because we've not been involved in our political process in getting behind candidates who reflect our values, but we're now with a choice, choice between someone who is clearly connected to corruption and someone who, you know, we have questions about character. lou: how do you explain the people who have been never-trumpers knowing damn

well that their choice to abstain or to favor a third party or to withdraw entirely, they're trying to deny that that's not a vote for hillary clinton. corrupt across the boeshgsd and you and i and they know it. >> well, today, the curtain was pulled back, so there's no question about the corruption, granted we don't know all the details yet, but this is an unprecedented as you've been talking about for the fbi to reverse itself. so they now know if they do not vote in this election or stand out or vote for a third party, they will be assisting one of the most corrupt individuals who has ever been in public office attending to the white house. lou: will that inspire evangelicals? will that bring them back to the polls which they abandoned in 2012, in all honesty, they were not present and accounted for and helpful in 2012. >> yes, there were several that did, many that did stay home.

do i think it will. i've heard from pastors across the nation today who have called and responded to this, realizing how deep the corruption goes, and look, when justice sleeps, corruption roars. and we will see -- lou: could anyone be more -- could anyone be sleepier than mitch mcconnell, paul ryan, in terms of their activity in support of party's nominee? they're opposing him. >> and, of course, they're the reason that donald trump did so well in the primaries, because people want somebody who's going to fight. they're looking for a fighter, not someone who's going to get along as the republicans have done for the most part in washington, d.c. >> are republicans going to come home? that's what i'm asking you right now. evangelicals, all of them? >> i think evangelicals will -- those sitting on the sideline,

to watch the fbi will reverse itself like this and create what has been an extraordinary explosion in a presidential campaign in the country, your thoughts as an attorney about what's going on? >> i would be very nervous if i were representing hillary and if i were involved in illegal team up to this point last three years. i'd be very nervous. the fbi is reversing itself basically saying we are going to reinvestigate. when did they do that? this is serious. this is and just we are going to review, they have reviewed and they have seen things and now they are going to really look into it deeply. >> lou people intuitively know that the big deal. there has been a lot of conversation last 12 hours about the fact that how big the impact will be in the electorate. this was a complicated issue in the summer and there have been things about the corruption with the server, with the foundation and other aspects of clinton inc. but no one understood all
