fallen heros, welcome to fbn:am. we do want to remind you stock market is open, the banks and bond markets are closed. nicole: breaking this morning, protestors taking to the street across president elect donald trump for a second night. this time the protests turned violent. estimated 4,000 people marching portland, oregon, police calling the protests there riot after store windows were smashed and dumpster was set on fire downtown. demonstrators shut down freeway and a number of people were arrested. lauren: donald trump just tweeted just had a successful election now professional protesters incited by the media protesting, very unfair. other protests taking place in cities like new york, denver and

chicago. nicole: president obama and president elect donald trump meeting at the white house following trump's election, with more on that we go over to blake berman. blake: what a few dairches a few days and a few weeks can make. president obama and president elect trump sitting with each other for what the president described a, quote, excellent conversation, the first time the two had ever met each other. the goal to ensure a smooth transition. >> i want to emphasize to you mr. elect, that that we now are going to want to do everything we can to help you succeed because if you succeed then the country succeeds. >> we discussed a lot of different situations, some wonderful and some difficulties. i very much look forward dealing with the president in the future

the dollar is weaker versus the -- i should say the pound and yen are stronger versus u.s. dollar today. nicole: this has been front and center all week long. look at it right now. 2.15%. moving up to january levels, continues to rise there all week long. lauren: that caught us off guard this moment to see it so high. wallet disney investors appear to be clueing lower sales and look at there. sports network grew this year and expect that is growth to continue over the long-term. wall street has been concerned about espn as more subscribers cut the cord. that hurts advertising revenue and fees from cable companies for carrying its sports. nicole: investors will look over earnings from a major retailer. that's jc penny expect today

morning outside the phoenix va medical center which was the epicenter of where the scandal started over two years ago where secret wait lists were exposed and veterans died while waiting for care. unfortunately the culture at the va since then has changed very little at the very facility, the office of inspector general continued wait times that it was still with cover-ups despite billions of dollars more spent. the reaction of washington was to spend more money when what is actually needed at va is accountability for employees that are failing, a culture change and choice for veterans. if they can't get into a facility, they need to go to private provider. nicole: thoughts on the wait times and we know that some of them are actually been fatal in

the end? >> yeah, wait times -- the reports released just last month exposes that wait times here have continued to lead to a loss of life. daytimes are reflection of bureaucracy. so when you have a limited number of choices and there is no transparency on the number of appointments, appointments can be canceled or shuffled and veterans become a number. when a veteran doesn't have a choice, there's no incentive for competition so they treat veterans like numbers instead of customers. so it's not just a matter of hiring more doctors and nurses, in some case that is can be the case, in reality it's about creating a culture where the veteran is at the center as op es today va bureaucracy. lauren: robert mcdonald the secretary of veterans affairs said something interesting. we still have a long way to go but trust in the va has now hit 460%.
