met daniel is the niece of the 2012 presidential nominee and secretary of state's shortlist are governor mitt romney. earlier we learned one of president-elect donald trump's closest most loyal and energetic surrogates will not be joining his administration to the popular former new york mayor rudy giuliani appears to have been pushed away by the transition team and from the president-elect. giuliani is one of the country's fiercest most successful prosecutors and he campaigned at trump side and today he confirmed he has withdrawn his name from consideration to be secretary of state. giuliani did not give a specific reason for his withdrawal but he did say secretary of state is the only job he was ever interested in. >> my desire to be in the cabinet was great but it wasn't

that great and he had a lot of terrific candidates. i thought i could play a better role being on the outside. lou: giuliani being gracious and giuliani is certainly a big loss for trump's efforts to drain the swamp in washington and he loses the council of one of the smartest politicians i believe in the entire country. trump's perspective cabinet begins to take on the appearance of the circle of insiders for president who ran as an outsider , a group of globalist for a president who hasn't all things put america first. we will be going to president-elect trump in grand rapids michigan for what is the fourth stop out his thank you tour. it's an important place. it's important symbolically for donald trump. he visited grand rapids three times through the campaign and closed out his campaign with a late-night rally that stretched until election day. those visits no fault of

donald trump's said throughout his campaign posture seems like the man -- the wrong man and abroad job at the wrong time for the wrong reasons working for the president who says he will stop illegal immigration and operate with two principles higher american and by american and we will examine whether something is changed or whether puzder is the one who's about to change. our top story tonight former new york city mayor rudy giuliani removing his name from consideration for the new trump administration. giuliani has been one of trumps fiercest highest profile surrogates in the campaign and at one point was considered the favorite to be his secretary of state. i wisely appreciate his dedication to the campaign and for his wise counsel. he is and continues to be a

close personal friend and i will call upon him for an important place in the administration at a later date. "fox news" has been reporting giuliani had fallen out of favor with mr. trump after publicly as a permanent front-runner for the spot. trump will meet with tillerson for the second time or the weekend and another child cabinet is a highly placed transition source tells "fox news" donald trump's selected goldman sachs gary cohen to head up the national economic council. free golden alums with trump strategist counselor steve bannon treasury secretary steven mnuchin. early today house speaker paul ryan visiting with trump describing his first meeting with the president inside trump tower. >> a very exciting meeting.

i enjoyed coming up in meetings with general elect. we are excited about hitting the ground running in 2017 to put this country on the right track. lou: he was talking so fast. it appears donald trump may be doing something very clever and this just occurred to me. it appears that he may be trying to attract all of the critrs into the swamp before he actually trained to appear to about the impact of the trump administration without giuliani and the legitimacy of trumps outsider status joining us executive editor of "the weekly standard" fred lawrence. republican strategist ed rollins. the restart ad with you. this is remarkable. a romney now being put into the rnc chairman. his reince priebus running this president's elect? >> historically when the party pics of nominate the nominee

takes over the republican national committee and certainly the white house takes over the national committee. lou: let me stop you. the white house takes over? >> that's the point i made. it seems we have the rnc taken over the white house and that's my concern. for priebus to say i'm going to pick the person who's going to replace me having been there for seven or eight years because i do want to do any -- undo the things that have been done is not a good thing. there was no one more visible or more symbolic than rudy giuliani. newt gingrich was another one who is very symbolic on the outside so you have through the principles and christie three most adamant advocates of his presidency are all outsiders now. lou. lou: and we are talking about

buyers for donald trump who are now being excluded and pushed away. i want to put up a graphic for the audience to show where we are in the insider outsider as you see there dr. ben carson an outsider, steven bannon an outsider and jeff sessions although a longtime distinguished federal prosecutor and senator. he is considered an outsider. this now looks like we are an insider president and outsider's cabinet. would you make of that? >> i think that's basically true and i think there's one thing you didn't mention and that is gary cohen from goldman sachs. lou: we did mention that. >> i know you mentioned him but you didn't mention who has won that job the economic policy counsel over and that's larry kudlow.

larry kudlow the great economist who along with steve moore put together for donald trump's economic plan who has been with trump for a long time way back in the campaign and certainly a brilliant economist. i personally am very disappointed that trump made this pic and hired another goldman sachs guy over larry kudlow. lou: bannon of course is unique goldman sachs alone because he's an outsider of the highest order and his as anti-establishment as you can get. he's one of the guys that i really like as well. it looks like we aren't hearing from him. i then heard a word from him. he has disappeared into some sort of insular vortex within whatever it is that reince priebus is constructing over there. i am deeply troubled by the

notion that people are feeding donald trump, i mean you know i begin to wonder does he know who his new rnc chairwoman is? is he briefed on the relationship, the fact that she is a swamp critter if you will in the swamp. rex tillerson a second meeting with him and condoleezza rice shows up at the trump tower and the next thing one of the largest clients if not the largest on the part of the rice hadley gates consulting firm is suddenly considered for secretary of state. i mean this is noxious. >> it certainly surprising. this developed later in this process in picking his cabinet. i think he's done some brilliant things. lou: we are talking about the stuff that may not be so brilliant.

>> i. >> i realize that pit why he would want rex tillerson who is a well respected ceo and it's been all around the world and made a petroleum deal with vladimir putin and so on but for secretary of state, secretary of state, there are some awfully good candidates for that job. i personally would prefer. lou: we are going to put an x for your suggestion because the man who deserves the job is none other than john bolton. you can name any one of these people and i'm very serious and whoever you can pull those names and put them in the job if they don't have john bolton at their side they won't know what the hell they are doing. >> he should be running the thing if giuliani can't be there. >> having spent many years in the administration the biggest dangers when you send a cabinet officer who hasn't been around and has been captured by the bureaucracy they send them over saying don't let them capture you.

you are the leader of the pack and pretty soon they say oh my goodness he has such great ideas an obvious we -- lou: we just have a president who didn't even talk to a dog on cabinet so there's a level at which you say put him in the cabinet and dispense with him because i think that's exactly what obama did. he became for the most part nearly entirely figureheads. this cabinet one seems to feel he's going to draw upon. now you may it's very important those who build the secretary seats are critically important. andrew puzder couldn't be any more anti-american worker. fred i mean he is anti-worker. >> i wouldn't call him anti-worker. lou: what would you call him? since i crossed out your recommendation for secretary of

state i will be glad to give the card launch on this one. >> i have always been for john bolton for secretary of state. lou: wait a minute you said that romney. >> i have always thought john bolton would be the best for the reasons we just heard. that is john bolton understands what can happen. lou: you have an anti-worker labor secretary working in a cabinet for a president who says it's going to be higher america and buy a worker, the american worker for the first time will be heard by their government. >> e. is a job creator though. lou: he created jobs in fast food restaurants and that's wonderful that you are not talking about henry ford with the assembly line for crying out loud. >> i agree with you on that. lou: tell dell crystal he and i

lou: we are awaiting donald trump and grand rapids michigan his fourth stop on his thank you tour. joining me is general jack keane retired four-star general chairman of the institute for the study of war and the great american and delighted that you are here. i'm going to ask everybody in the control room to please turn down the sound and others a lot of excitemenat i need to hear tl and if you will give us the full screen here. general con it's good to have you here as i'm trying to help with the show here. i apologize. >> that's okay. lou: i'm a quasi-producer, whatever. the idea that we have three generals and we just heard ed

rollins say he's feeling about about -- better about the general than almost anybody else. your reaction to the appointments by a president-elect and how do you feel about that? >> i'm not concerned of the militarization of the national security functions in our government it does listen to generals having been in war and the human dimension takes its toll on a personal level. when they are talking about war as an option they are going to make certain that all of the other options are exhausted and then if military force is going to be used they will also be insisting let's make sure that they have a clear objective that there is a state here. i'm not concerned at all about something like that. lou: neither him eye and by the way here that from the left and the left has been reduced to

irrelevancy and i frankly don't think it's worth discussion. i'm more concerned about the thoughts of one of the country's most distinguished general officers and how you feel about it and the direction you see the trump transition team and soon-to-be administration shaping up. >> overall i think he's doing an incredible job number one at of picking good people in number two doing it in a timely fashion. i think it clearly demonstrates the energy has to get on with doing what he said during the campaign. i can say in my discussions with him i was impressed with how much he truly wants to be successful and how he truly wants to get this right and he has got a huge energy around doing that and i think that's why these appointments are falling so quickly. and these general officers, he is the leader himself.

he is a strong leader. he's a man of conviction. he is a straight talker and a lot of these general officers are similar to that but i think by and large looking at these positions they are likely the best athletes on the field. they been at war for 15 years and there's a heck of a competition that goes on inside the military that people don't wreck my and for its his fierce. call out the people like can't handle the stress and can handle the pressure and don't get results. lou: as he sailed a terrific officers. what troubles me so much in one of the reasons i find the presence of those generals, i think should be comforting is that they are frustrated the one thing they cannot have is an absolute victory in the war against the radical islamist terrorists who may have been fighting as you say for 15 years. >> it's absolutely tragic and this is policy decisions that have driven that.

we have no strategy. we have no alliances to it and afghanistan is no longer a winnable war. policy decisions made by the obama administration principally also assisted by the bush administration going to war in iraq but that is absolutely tragic. a war for 15 years in afghanistan and we can't win it? i'm absolutely convinced of that. lou: general it ius great to talk with you. appreciate you taking the time in the ore to seeing you soon. general jack keane. breaking news a bone chilling arctic blast has 200 million people in its path and it started happening and impact of the polar vortex creating tragic driving conditions on the nation's road and will continue to do so as it moves from the northwest east to the northeast of course and now such as lake

it holds. trump has held rallies twice there before. fox news correspondent is with donald trump now. >> good evening. just like we were in des moines there were several thousand people here. i can tell you a crowd that has been very anxious to see the president-elect has filled in all of the seats that are up at the serene which is normally where the d league nba team plays. at least a couple of thousand people sitting on the floor. they got here early. even though mister trump is in the area. they were standing outside in the cold where they were.

they say this to her has been a great success there when you talk to a lot of people that come here just looking out at some of themthere surprising them on all sides. they are very happy to get a chance to come and see the president-elect so soon after the election. and to hear some of the specifics. he's thinking about putting in the cabinet. a lot of people are mentioning the carrier deal here in west michigan. it's something they want to hear more of. to make the energy in the room as you are speaking we know outside its 24 degrees wins is 7 miles per hour. he should be flattered that is pretty intense commitment on their part but we knew that he have very intense plans and

certainly on election day. >> a couple of the think you events. he makes a point to talk about how he wanted not just in the state he is in. but he would say i'm not was to have a chance in pennsylvania or michigan. with that impression you will have to work on that a little bit. if you raise the energy. i have to give you credit again for a great line talking about the previousrally peter used the expression for all of the folks at the rally their return customers as peter put it. while don -- will done.

>> the special advisor to the trump transition. jeff dewitt. this to her is turning out to be a brilliant idea for donald trump. he is enjoying it and obviously were talking about 24 degrees and at least a brisk wind there. >> i want to tell everyone in the north end of the northeast that is dealing with the polar vortex. i was trying to stop you before you did it. we are looking at a real change in a calibration in the makeup of the administration in the cabinet. rudy giuliani pulling out today. the appointment of romney's niece to the rnc.

this is looking like crony critters going into the swamp before he dreams it. it's going on? >> he was around trump tower a lot. what is going on. we know rudy giuliani. i think he will still be involved. he was the only one that got out with his dignity. he turned in his resolve to the process. for many other cabinet secretary. come on, let's go.

>> it's probably the middle. >> this is donald trump. he is disrupted he is moving. what's going on? >> look at all of the pics so far. he is an outsider president. this thing looks like an insiders club. name one that has significant dc experience on their resume. they're all from other parts of the country. we want to go in terms of establishment figures. i look at ben carson and steve bannon. he is a formidable intellect with a strong traditional american values and who who is courageous beyond measure.

it just looks peculiar when you look at that and you think there's an outsiderdoes anybody remember that. >> he is still an outsider. he still gonna drain the swamp. >> is doing something clever. the trump family they are shooters and hunters. they're trying to bring all of the predators into the swamp and then he's going to drain it. >> every time donald trump got second-guessed throughout the campaign he was always proven right in the end. >> i'm only asking questions. let me tell you what i'm an american him m and ask questions when they occur to me. it doesn't make any difference who i'm talking about or who i am talking to. >> you are one of the best question askers in the

country. now i want you to be the best answer in the country. >> that's why i am here. i have to tell you i'm so deeply disappointed about rudy giuliani. i don't think he was treated while by the transition. i'm not pleased that there is a sense that he was pushed away from the trump tower by a rant previous. i'm not comfortable with the fact that a romney is get a b running the rnc that is discomfort for me and probably for millions of folks who had voted for him and had great high hopes. we have the president-elect now in the grand rapids venue. about 6,000 people there blustery night but they want to see the man and it is get a b running the country for the

next four years and there he is. let's watch. [applause]. >> i'm here tonight for one main reason. to say thank you to the incredible people of michigan. you went out and pounded the pavement organize your fellow citizensand propelled to

victory of grassroots movement the likes of which actually the world will just had to say the country has never seen. and now working to bring back the jobs. i also want to give a very special thank you to our veterans who have been so incredible to me and to you our service members servicemembers in our military families. boy do we get their votes. big numbers. america's men and women in uniform are the finest and bravest the world has ever known. so to all who have borne the uniform i say thank you very much.

[applause]. even the democrats are loving him, isn't that nice? what can you say he has some record. he has a record of winning. we want to win. when he have to do battle whether he agreed with it or not but when he have to do battle he won anyone fast. there were no games, so he will be great. secretary of defense. i believe we are in the process of putting together one of the great cabinets that has ever been assembled in our nations history and you are seeing that. you will be seen some more names coming out next week that are phenomenal. one of the most critical issues that we will have to

tackle his education. you know what i'm about to say. america spends more in education than any country by far and yet our results are terrible. we spend more per pupil than any nation in the world by far and you look at sweden and denmark and norway and china into japan and they are all at the top and you look at us spending much more per pupil. we will change that. we are going to reform our broken education system to put students and families first. [applause]. so importantly, this includes providing great application -- education to students living in our inner cities. we forgot about the men and

women they are not so forgotten anymore by the way in case you haven't noticed. they're still trying to figure it out, and the media. where did all of the millions of people come from. they come out and big-league numbers our reform plan includes eliminatedcommon core and bringing education local in providing school choice. we won every child, every single child low income, we don't care where they are, where they live. every child to be able to attend public, private, charter, or religious school that is right for them. [applause]. the person that i have selected to lead the

department of education and my opinion one of my most important decisions is a native of michigan of all places, [applause]. considered by everybody to be one of the top education reformers in the nation. someone totally respected, someone devoted and devoting decades to helping disadvantaged students. i am thrilled to walk up to the stage your next secretary of education betsy devos. [applause].

>> thank you. [applause]. thank you, thank you mister president elect. what an amazing leader. are we proud of president-elect trump. [applause]. you know the so-called experts didn't think we could when it but we did. we believed in president-elect trump and we went to the polls and changed the world. it is an amazing thing what can happen when someone believes in you. nowhere is that more true than in our schools and in the lives of our kids. i am so excited and humbled to be nominated as secretary of education [applause].

and in deference to the u.s. senate confirmation i'm not getting interviews but just between us let me share this. it's time to make education great again in this country. [applause]. this means putting kids first every single day this means expanding choices and options for a quality education regardless of their zip code or their family circumstances. this means letting states set their own high standards in finally putting an end to the federalized common core. [applause].

for me it is simple, i trust parents. and i believe in our children. but it won't be washington dc that unlocks that potential it won't be a giant bureaucracy or a federal department, nope. the answer is it bigger government, the answer is local control, listening to parents and it's is giving more choices. if i am fortunate enough to be confirmed as your secretary of education our kids, your kids well have a someone fighting for them every single day. [applause]. i had been involved with education issues are 28 years as an activist, a citizen volunteer and an advocate advocate for children. i had experience, the passion,

in the know how to make change happen. still there are many of you here and many in the media and the education community who may not know me. in fact there is a lot of folks with the news out there. all i ask for is an open mind and the opportunity to share my heart. together, let's make education a great again. [applause]. so let me repeat there is a lot of false news out there

all i ask for is an open mind and the opportunity to share my heart together let's make education great again and let's win for kids. thank you very much. [applause]. thank you, betsy. is michigan proud of that seat? yes. and you're you are going to be even more proud as time goes by. she will do an incredible job. with betsy at our side i know we will make great strides in fixing our broken schools all over the country. it will be a beautiful thing to watch. she will do it. i have no doubt.

to accomplish our goals for this country government must stop listening to the special interests and start delivering for the national interest. we have to. it's time to deliver for you the american people our plan begins at bold reforms to create millions and millions of great pain jobs. whether it is building cars, producing steel or curing disease we want the next generation of innovation in production to happen right here in america and right here in michigan. and you know, so i one michigan.

[applause]. in michigan hasn't been one for many years and i felt i was going to win it. i felt like i was get to win the whole thing. i didn't have michigan on our list of stops for the final day and i did the speeches i did six of them, that's a lot. i did three a day for a month and these were big speeches and we did not need any entertainers to come in and entertain. we had packed houses. thousands and thousands. but at the last moment i said 9:00 in the evening let's go to michigan. because i heard my opponent had scheduled michigan unexpectedly. all the sudden with president

obama and michelle and bill and hillary and they were going to michigan. it was great before the election. i said let's go to michigan. i see the faces. some of you were here. so we head between inside and outside with 31,000 people and i started speaking at almost 1:00 in the morning. and now it was election day now it was tuesday i left on monday by the time we got here it was almost 1:00 in the morning. with 31,000 people at 1:00 in the morning and i said we're going to win the chicken. i felt it. we did.

i heard a half an hour ago that wtotally one. that was just the way it was the way they were gonna try to win the money for themselves. the courts with great people in the whole group. you spoke very well. she didn't sleep for about six months. i will tell you that. and merry christmas everybody. they reminded me we are going to start saying merry christmas again. [applause]. how about all of those department stores they have the bells in the red walls in

the snow but they don't have merry christmas. i think they will part -- i think they will start putting up merry christmas, merry christmas. that was a big group of people that said that. it was that evening which turned out to be election morning and i got home at 4:00 in the morning and i said to my wife i said honestly, i don't see how we could lose michigan. then we won wisconsin [applause]. and of course we won pennsylvania. did you see the look on their face. it started with ohio and it was almost by nine points. we were expected to win ohio and we didn't have any support there have to tell you. we were expected to do while in ohio we won by nine and

iowa came in and we won by more than ten and then we won almost every single county in iowa. we had 11 county that hadn't have it been one since 1952. that's a long time. the governor of iowa who has a great relationship because they sell so much product to china, governor terry branstad was just made the ambassador to china. he likes china, they like him. he will be fantastic. what happened on the evening was incredible. they have some the other people. it might've been the greatest single sporting event we have ever seen. it started with ohio and iowa. they also said texas is in

play. for two months we have all been hea play and we heard georgia is in play. i said we are in trouble. sometimes i don't believe these people. so, the polls open and close and now we go live on television with the numbers and we have lousy exit polls. in fact in fact, i got a call from ivanka. dad, it's not looking good. it was 5:00, you know, the exit polls. you don't have to give bad exit polls, in two hours they're going to know. they didn't have to do that. it's not looking good, the exit polls are not looking good, and you know, they put bad questions in the exit polls that say like many people say

donald trump is a very, very bad person. do you agree that he's a horrible human being? [laughter] yes or no? and the people go, yeah, i guess. boom. so you know, so we go out and immediately -- no, the election's over. [booing] that was a bernie fan. [laughter] the election ended three weeks ago, darling. [applause] someday soon she will be on our side. you watch. [cheers] so it was so exciting. so i get these horrible calls. i get a couple of them, but

ivanka said, dad, i'll tell you, you really worked hard. i said, you know what, ivanka? as bad as it may be, i don't feel, you know, like in a football team, i left nothing on the field, right? i left nothing on the field. get him out of here. [cheers] where do these people come from? where do they come from in? unbelievable.. >> usa! usa! usa! usa! [chanting]

>> is there anything better or safer than a trump rally, right? [cheers] your rally. telling you, it's a movement like they've never seen before. look at this. the election is over, packed to the corners. i wish the cameras would show it, they never do, they never do. this is a big room. this is a big place. this is a big, big place. every place is packed right to the rafters. they never show it. they never, ever show it. but that's okay. [cheers] but they hear it. you know. lou: i just want to point out that's a fox news camera right there. that's why we're showing you the expanse. the number of people in that room, and so the next time i see donald trump, i will remind

him that this very moment, treasurer. >> michigan state, right? which do i like? i won't say it sounded like ohio state, we'll say it that way. [booing] >> but so the polls close and they go live. i'm hearing that texas is close, i'm getting all these horrible calls from my kids, from jared, everything, too bad, dad, they had me written off, the polls. i said to ivanka, i said, you know, honey, i may have lost. it was going to be an early evening. they didn't realize it was going to be an early evening for us. [cheers] even though they refused to call it. it should have been an early evening, but they refused. but i said but i left nothing out there. i felt so good because, again, i was getting this news which sounded like it was over, and i

said, and i said, it's like a team, i left nothing out there. i couldn't have worked harder. i couldn't have worked. that month we outworked everybody that ever ran for office. all right? nobody ever ran for office that worked harder. so i was okay with it, you know? i was okay, i wouldn't say i was great. i wouldn't say i was thrilled, but i was okay and then the polls closed and now we get the real numbers. that's when ohio came in. i love ohio. they were so great. i know you have a little competition, but that's all right. they were so great. and that's when iowa came. in ten points, that never happens. won almost every single county and won counties that haven't been won since the 50s. and i hear the states in play, texas. we have breaking news, donald trump has won the state of

texas. [cheers] and i couldn't understand it, when i went to texas, we had these massive auditoriums and stadiums that were packed with people. lines that were 20 blocks long. you couldn't get in. thousands of people left outside, so i won texas, but they said it was going to be close, and it was a landslide. then they have another one, georgia, they used the word in play, in play means it could go either way. donald trump, breaking news. donald trump has won the state of georgia, right? this is like in the first two seconds. this is the one that they're saying, for two months, georgia is in play, texas, okay. that's done. great states. then they have this character that nobody ever heard of before from utah. i love utah. and they had him tied with me,

and beating hillary. and i said who the hell is this guy? [laughter] and as a republican, you never lose your touch. hate to say it, but has anyone ever lost utah? so they said utah is in play, for months, and they talked about this guy, and i mean i looked at him i said, is he going to beat me? that guy? where does he come from? who is he? who is he? what's he doing, if he wins, we louse up the supreme court of the united states. what's he doing, this guy? right after texas, breaking news! donald trump has won the state of utah! [cheers] like what? by 25 points! and by the way, in all fairness, hillary came in second and this guy that nobody heard of, he fell off the

planet. [ laughter ] so we won all these states. but then, and a person said to me, very important person, who i actually get along with very well said when did you think you one? i said no, when did you think that you guys lost? [laughter] and they said, well, florida was looking okay, and all of a sudden, but they hadn't counted the panhandle. that panhandle, boy, what was it, like 91% or something. [cheers] those are great people. workers. we're doing well in florida and they weren't liking those numbers, we're even, even, even, hadn't gotten to the panhandle. and all of a sudden, all of a sudden -- breaking news, donald trump won the state of florida by a lot. by a lot. [cheers] and then we just went right up that coastline, right?

we won south carolina and then a big one because they put all of their eggs into one basket and they said they were interviewing people on television from the other side, you just lost florida. guy said, well, we're a little disappointed but we have no problem because north carolina is our fire wall. he can't win north carolina, can't happen. two minutes later. we have breaking news. donald trump has won the state of north carolina. [cheers] big league. big. we won it big. and you know i knew they had problems because they took the convention center, and i just took a ballroom. you know, if i lost, i don't want a big room, i want to say thanks, everybody, see you next time. i'm outta here. i don't want to have. but they spent like $7 million on fireworks in the east river.

so they had the ballroom and they spent a tremendous -- millions and millions on this massive fireworks display, the big barges on the river, and that was about a month before the election. but three days before the election, they canceled the fireworks. i said that's a good signal. [laughter] >> i said is it supposed to be inclement weather? and we checked and they said actually it's beautiful, a beautiful night. i said why did they cancel the fireworks? and they were in for alot, like 7 million. they raised, i think they spent 2.2 billion. i get no credit, they spent 2.2 billion. i spent a little more than 300 million. mr. devos, mr. devos, senior, will tell you, in the old days you get credit if you spent less. and they used to say she spent more money, he's up by one point. she spent more money like it's

good. it's bad. if you can spend less money and win, it's good. we got to remember, it's good, not bad. [cheers] so when i heard they spent 7 million on the fireworks and i didn't know if we were going to win or lose, i was feeling good. we sent them over just a nice verbal statement. we will offer you five cents on the dollar for the fireworks, because it was only a few days. [applause] >> they never responded. i thought i could buy the fireworks cheap! just like i don't want to buy an airplane for $4 billion, okay? [cheers] i don't want to buy it. even if i don't get to use it. who the hell cares, right? i'm not paying 4 billion for an airplane. so -- so we had an amazing night.

>> trump! trump! trump! [chanting] thank you. they forgot about you people. in four years, they're not going to forget but it's not going to work, because you're not going to forget. so we just went up and it was amazing and on top of it we won michigan, which these folks have done such an unbelievable job. ronald mcdaniel, what a good job you and your people have done, an incredible job. and then we won wisconsin, which was so incredible. that one, we weren't expecting necessarily, and it came into incredible people. hard working, wonderful people, and it was over. it was an amazing experience, and winning pennsylvania, you know, pennsylvania for 38 years, just they didn't win it. and it was always the one that got away, every republican

said, every republican, we're going to win pennsylvania. and it never happened. they say the bride that got away, right? it never, ever happened. everybody said they're going to win it. not only did they not win it, they lost it big. so i felt so good in pennsylvania. every time. we would have the massive crowds, signs on everybody's lawn. the trump-pence sign. by the way, how good is governor mike pence, soon-to-be vice president mike pence. what a good choice. what a good choice. he's been great. he is a greatuy, but i want to just say thank you to mike pence, he's been amazing. so it's been an incredible experience, i just say, but pennsylvania, when we won that, that was -- they could have called it around 12:00 or 11:30 or 11:00, and remember the screen, remember the states? and boy, the red was starting to get big! boy, that was getting to be

really a lot of red. remember before the night, there is no path to 270, and you know the amazing thing about the electoral college is that you stop at all these states. i was going all over the place. i was stopping at states, and many ways i'd rather have it the other way. it's easier, you campaign in new york and you campaign in california, you stop in florida and texas and it's all easy. but this does get you. i was never as much a fan. this gets to you stop at states that you're not going to stop in, and that's what our founders had in mind, and that's what people had in mind. it's an amazing thing. really is. [cheers] i went to maine. i went to maine four times. four times to maine. for one, i needed one, because they all said maybe i could get

to 269. they didn't know we were going to break the beautiful, beautiful blue wall, we're going to shatter that wall. [cheers] so i went to maine four times for one. now under the other system you wouldn't do that. it was an amazing evening, we ended up with 306. which was a landslide, and some states, some states we won by 30 and 40 points throughout and it was just an amazing thing. i can tell you, we're going to work really, really hard for you. work really hard to justify what you did, and so we're doing our little tour. and one of the places i had to stop was michigan, and we're going to bring our michigan jobs and michigan workers back to work. we're going to bring them back to work and i've been here many times and even before i was running, before i officially announced, i got an award four

years ago, the man of the year and i talked about the cars, they can't keep taking your car manufacturers. ford and the others. can't keep taking them out and talking about it long before i thought i was going to do this, and the people in michigan remembered, i've been talking about this for years, we're going to stop it. ford's made a promise to me and hopefully at beginning of the year they're going honor that promise about something they're going to do that's very big, and they're going to do it in michigan, not in mexico, and it's going to be great. [ cheers ] >> going to be great. going to be great. we want to thank you. but on taxes, we're going to undertake one of the great tax reforms and simplifications in american history. at the center of this plan is a massive middle-class tax cut. middle-class tax cut. [cheers] we're also going to lower our business tax rate from 35% all the way down to 15%, bringing new companies to our country and to your states.

[cheers] so we go from the highest tax nation in the world to one of the lower. not the lowest yet, but okay, don't get greedy, okay? but to one of the lowest. on regulations we're going to eliminate wasteful job killing regulations that undermine the ability of our workers and our companies to compete with the rest of the world. [cheers] big thing, bigger than the taxes. i think it's bigger than the taxes. on energy. we will cancel the restrictions on the production of american energy, including shale, oil, natural gas and clean coal. we're going to put our miners back to work. miners. we love our miners. wyoming, was my highest percentage. the opponent almost didn't register in the state of

wyoming. almost didn't register in the state of west virginia, which we love. we love our miners. on infrastructure, i will ask congress to pass legislation that produces $1 trillion of new investment in america's crumbling that includes major new projects for rural communities and our inner cities, and our inner cities are like the fortten man and the forgotten woman. we've forgotten about our inner cities, no longer. and the african-american community was great to us. they came through big league. big league. and frankly if they had any doubt, they didn't vote. that was almost as good because a lot of people didn't show up because they felt good about me, and the hispanic community

great, great. really great. and women, thank goodness, women. [cheers] women. the women. that was the other thing with the polls. it's like, i'd go to the rallies and they have the pink signs all over the place going crazy. we did great with women. i want to thank the women. [cheers] we're going to put our people back to work. it's time to help get americans off of welfare rolls and back into the labor market. we're going to do that. rebuilding our country with american hands and american workers, and they're going to be so thrilled, they're going to make so much more money than they've ever made and love getting up in the morning and they're going to love what they do. my administration will follow two simple rules. buy american and hire american.

because from now on, it's going to be america first. america first. our trade deficit is nearly $800 billion a year. can you believe that? any business people in the room? raise your hand, you think you can do slightly better than that? i think so. it's a chronic drag on growth and a destroyer of our country's wealth and our country's jobs. $800 billion a year. you actually say who's making these deals? who's making them? you look at deals that mexico and other countries have with other countries, and the deals they have with us are the worst deal, but that's going to change. that's going to change. we've got the professionals lined up, and these professionals, they know what

they're doing. america's lost one-third of our manufacturing jobs since nafta. we've lost 70,000 factories. i always say it's a typo. you mean 700 factories. you mean 70 factories. 70,000 factories since china joined the world trade organization. think of what 70,000 factories is. it's the greatest job theft in the history of the world. no state has been hurt worse by our trade deals than the state of chigan. that's why i knew i was going to win michigan. [cheers] that's why i knew i was going to win. no state, and it's the car industry, the automobile industry, but you watch, they're going to come roaring back, they're going to come roaring back and you're going to be happy. you've lost more than 40% of your automobile jobs since nafta was here.

think of it. 40%. if i wasn't elected. 40%, you wish you had 40% two years from now. you wish. you would have gotten much worse. plenty of deals are going on, and we did a great job with carrier with the help of mike pence, we did a great job. but -- but, you got to understand, we got to the table a little late. they already built their factory in mexico and lots of things and saved a tremendous number of jobs, and the rest have to be prepared, carrier and everybody else, when they make the air conditioners or whatever they're making, i think they're going to make pumps, not air conditioners, one is going to be air conditioners, we left them back here, and other companies, they have to pay a tremendous tax to get that product back into this country. [cheers] the point is the jobs that are gone i think they'll be coming

back soon, too. it used to be the cars were made in flint, and you couldn't drink the water in mexico. now the cars are made in mexico and you can't drink the water in flint. we're going to change that. [cheers] and it would have been nice if i had a little help from your governor. would have been real nice, right? would have been nice if we had a little help from the governor. we're going to withdraw from the trans-pacific partnership, renegotiate nafta, stand up to foreign cheating, and fight for every last american job and every last job that belongs in michigan. [cheers] if a company wants to fire their workers, leave michigan for another country or anywhere

else, and then ship their product back into our country, there will be consequences, folks, it's no longer going to be like we're people, we don't know what we're doing, we don't know what we're doing, go ahead, fire everybody in michigan or indiana or pennsylvania, fire everybody, build someplace else and just sell back. no, no. no more. not gonna happen. not gonna happen. if we, it's not me, i'm a messenger, if we didn't come along our country was going to be totally drained. there are thousands and thousands of companies right now that are negotiating to get out of our country because for one reason the taxes are too high. for another reason the regulation, even without doing what i'm doing at the border, and there is no 35% tax, you understand that. only if you leave there's a tax, no taxing the company. we're lowering taxes. i don't think we're going to

have to use the 35% very much when we lower taxes to 15% or theres about, i hope i can get it down to that level. nobody is going to leave. when we lower regulations by probably 80%, 85%, these are regulations that don't -- they're a disaster. for farmers, for manufacturers, for everybody. i also have an important announcement, and i'm going to make it tonight. you mind? [cheers] we'll keep it low-key. we'll keep it very low-key. they're turning off some of the cameras because they're so honorable. we have a great, great business leader with us tonight, one of the foremost leaders in manufacturing, one of the foremost leaders in the world of business. a man who cares greatly about this state and this country, even though he does happen to come from australia. he's here with us this evening.

he's done an incredible job. he's helped build an unbelievable company. he's been the chairman and ceo of dow chemical for 13 years, one of the truly great companies that is based right here in michigan. and he's staying here. he's staying. he's proud of michigan. he's also a fantastic family man, just met his son, and someone committed to returning jobs to the united states of america. his name is andrew laveras, one of the most respected businessmen in the world, and i'm asking him to come up and head up our american manufacturing council and he's agreed to do it.

[cheers] they'll be passed to finding ways to bring industry back to america. industry and manufacturing back to america. there's nobody can do it like andrew, so andrew, please come up to the stage. andrew. [ applause ] >> doesn't the president-elect sing music? it's music. it's kid rock. it's detroit motor city music. it's michigan music, it's american music. i'm very proud to be here. we love him too, and we're very proud as a michigan--based company to be founded in michigan up the road in midland in the bay communities.

we're global but we've been expanding operations in michigan, expanding operations in the united states, over 7,000 jobs, factory jobs, construction jobs, technicians, engineers, service jobs, invested over $7 billion in the last four, five years, and we aren't stopping there. we aren't stopping there. we're going to add value by giving this incredible workforce in front of me, this incredible american worker, incredible michigan worker and put you all to work. we've got ideas and plans, and tonight in honor of the president-elect and his being here to thank you all. we made a decision, we're going to invest a new state of the art innovation center in michigan. we're going to put an r&d center in place, this decision, this decision -- [cheers and applause]

this decision, this man and these policies, we could have waited, put it anywhere in the world. 700 jobs on top of the thousands, we aren't waiting, we're going ahead. we're going to use american hard work and american brains and fight for the dow company out of usa. president-elect trump, i can't tell you, i tingle with pride listening to you. to honor me to help you chair amican manufacturing council, to put in place, to put in place the investments that you talk about, you're paving the way with your administration with your policies to make it easier to do business in this country. not a red tape country, but a red carpet country for american businesses. [cheers] america first, as you said. that's what we have to do.

and you can count on me and the business leaders we'll put on this team. this will be america's brightest and finest to solve the problems that you have. we need to employ our youth, help our citizens, we need to give you hope. we need to find a way back to believe in ourselves again. >> yeah! [cheers] as you rightly said, i may have a funny accent, we aussies love america a lot. i bleed america, and i bleed michigan. >> wow. so great, thank you, andrew. wow. isn't that great? that's what's going to happen, folks, we're going to get jobs, we're coming back and we're going to come back to michigan. we're going to come back to pennsylvania, all these places. new york state. you see what's happened in new york state. we're going to bring them back. i just want to thank andrew, and andrew is going to announce the names of the great business manufacturers, the best in the world, and he's setting up his council next week, and he'll announce them next week, and they will be like him, the greatest leaders there are. so i want to thank andrew and dow chemical, and that's really good news for michigan. [applause] >> on the military, we will show the whole world that america is strong again. [cheers] we will rebuild our badly depleted military and ensure that servicemembers have the

equipment, training, technology and resources that they need to get the job done and done correctly. [cheering] but i always add, i always add, we'll have the strongest military in the world, the most updated military in the world, and there rarely been a time we needed it like this. i always like to add, we will never have to use that power, i hope. we're building tremendousower, hopefully we will never have to use that you power. we believe in peace through strength. we will, however, get rid of isis, i'm sorry. we will get rid of isis. isis has to go. [cheering] at the same time, we will insure our veterans have the best medical care in the world. it is about time. [cheering] and on health care, we will repeal and replace obamacare.

[cheering] we'll have health care much less expensive. and it will be much better, much stronger. the murder rate our country has experienced is the largest increase in 45 years. you don't hear that. we are going to support the incredible men and women of law enforcement and we are going to bring this crime wave to anç e. [applause] on immigration, we will build a great wall. we will put an end to illegal immigration. and stop the drugs from pouring into our country and poisoning our youth and many other people. we have to stop the drugs.

we're going to have people come into our country, hupps of thousands of people, we want them to come in, because we're going to have big, beautiful doors in that wall. but they're going to come in legally. through a process, legally. [cheering] during this campaign i had a chance to meet the amazing families of the remembrance project. parents whose children were killed by illegal immigrants. a trump administration will end this long and horrible nightmare of violence. [cheering] we will fight to protect every american life. during the campaign i also spent time with american workers who were laid off and forced to train the foreign workers that were brought in to replace them.

that is not going to happen anymore. company that is out there right now, they say you will train the people that will replace you, if you don't, you won't get your severance pay. all right, not going to happen to our people anymore. [cheers and applause] one of my first executive orders will ask the department of labor to investigate all visa abuses that undermined jobs and wages for the american workers. [cheering] to protect our country from terrorism and extremism, i will suspend immigration and refugee admissions from regions where they can not be safely processed or vetted. we're going to have extreme vetting. [cheering] we have no choice. we have enough problems folks.

we have enough problems. we will do everything in our power to keep radical islamic terrorists the hell out of our country. [cheering] i have no choice. [cheering] thank you. ethics reform will be a crucial part of our 100-day plan as well. we're going to drain the swampç in washington, d.c. you will see. i will impose a five-year ban on executive branch officials becoming lobbyists and a lifetime ban on officials becoming lobbyists for a foreign government.

[cheering] and, since i become sort of involved with costs and as business people we sort of understand that, i think that these people that give out these billions and billions and billions of dollars of contracts to companies should never ever be a allowed to leave and go to work with any of these companies, okay? no more. [applause] got to be a lifetime ban. then you wonder why is it costing so much? why are the cost overruns so high? i could name so many different -- look at some of the fighter jets being built. look at things that are happening. i'm not just talking about the military. i'm talking about some other purchases, when they purchase and they're in charge of purchasing, they should never, ever, during their lifetime be allowed to go to work for those companies. they just shouldn't be allowed to do it and they're not going

to be allowed to do it. so -- [cheering] all of a sudden they will start negotiating a little bit harder, right? you know, you know the game. come to work with us. come to work with us. oh, let's finish this contract first. oh, okay, he will really negotiate tough, right? we face many challenges but this is truly an exciting time to be alive. and there has never been anything like what we've done. the script is not yet written. we do n know what the page will read tomorrow but for the first time in many, many years, what we do know is that the pages will be authored by each and everyone of you. [cheers and applause] the american people will be in charge. your voice, your desires, your hopes and aspirations, you will

never again fall on deaf ears. it won't happen. you saw what happened three weeks ago. it is not going to happen. people are paying attention to you now. they're paying attention. these people are talking about you every night. they never talked about you. they said, oh, they're not going to show up. they are talking about you again. we have sanity back. we have sanity back. [cheering] you will be the captains much your destiny once more. together we will raise incomes, and create millions and millions of new jobs. you watch andrew, you watch his friends, you watch what is going to happen. we will lower taxes, unleash american energy, bring new companies to our shores, and ere from viciously leaving.

we'll re-establish the rule of law and appoint justices to the supreme court of the united states who will uphold and defend our constitution. [cheering] we will heal our divisions and unify our country and when americans are unified, there is nothing we can not do, no task too great. no dream too large. no goal beyond our reach. my message tonight is for all americans, all parties, all beliefs, all walks of life, no matter your age, your income, your background, your race. i am asking you to join this incredible movement, this movement that nobody has ever seen anything like it before. i am asking you to dream big and bold and daring things for your country and for yourself. i am asking you to believe in yourself. and i am asking you to believe once again in america. >> god bless america! make america great again. the crowd loving it, reliving the victory election night. the donald trump the empassaro again, striking right tone, talking about perfect issues for people in that room, millions around the country that want to get this country growing again. joining me, politics reporter at the federal lift. good to have you with us. "boston herald" columnist. and host of mike gallagher show on the host of "the mike gallagher show" on the salem radio network. bree, let me start with you. this is turning out to be a joyous celebration of an election, we really haven't seen a president-elect do this. it seems to be a brilliant, brilliant idea. your thoughts? >> yeah i think certainly is a unique for him to plan. i think it is smart or wise for him to point out this kind of like forgotten man narrative and

trot that out for the audience, remind them, hey, no one was listening to you, until i started rising to the forefront of people's attentions. you guys care about to the attention of the mainstream media and the political elites. i think you're certainly right. his decision to go on this massive tour, just kind of highlight what he has done for the people who largely have been forgotten and left behind and neglected is smart. lou: adrian that, your thoughts, we find out today rudy giuliani withdrawn from consideration of secretary of state. it is disappointment for me personally. i have the highest regard and respect for him. we also are looking at a number of establishment figures that are blossoming in his cabinet. and, at the same time, he has this connection with all of these people, even as his cabinet is far more, i guess you would say establishment than any

of us would have anticipated from the campaign. your thoughts? >> bell, i agree with you, lou. i'm a him dispointed with rudy giuliani because he is america's mayor. i remember 9/11 vividly and what incredible leadership he dispelled -- he displayed in our countries, one of the worst days in our country's history. that being said there are still other good candidates. they say now the exxon ceo is rising to the top and maybe selecting as secretary of state. that remains to be seen. lou: i'm a john bolton fan. i'm a john bolton guy. i wanted john bolton and rudy to be working together at state. i think it would be an amazing team. no one is more knowledgeable than ambassador boltonp and terrific person. there is a story here, i want to share very quickly. that is the, the consulting firm, advisory firm, that is

rice, hadley, gates, there is a story around that rex tillerson's name was proffered by none other than than condoleeza rice. it gets a little tight in establishment terms, mike. your thoughts? >> but, lou, don't lose sight of the fact that folks like newt gingrich, rudy giuliani -- lou: neither of whom will be in cabinet or apparently counsel to the president. >> but i believe will still have his ear in inner circle. lou: i hope so. >> that is something encouraging. you used the joyous, that is the right feel, americans have a sense of optimism we haven't seen in decades in this country. lou: another thing, the survey, the confidence survey, sentiment came out, they expected it to be around 94. blew up 98. that is a huge move in the confidence index. let me turn where we're headed

right now. bree, as you look what the president-elect is doing, i will tell you because you're much too young, i can tell you there has not been a president-elect, including ronald reagan, who has ever had the start to this period of his leadership before taking the office, who has had the impact. it is anç amazing performance. and, we, he is still being assailed by the left-wing media. it is unrelenting. it is clear it is going to be the never-ending campaign on the part of a dwindling left-wing speaking to an ever smaller audience. irrespective of the media in which they find themselves. your thoughts on the fact he has been assailed? >> it is really telling, interview with "the new york times" executive he had door with fresh air that he basically admitted none of

his reporters, say for one understands religion or the role that it plays in people's lives. i think that is very telling considering 83% of americans do identify as christian. if the people serving in the newspaper of record and serving in the establishment media just really can't connector can't relate or working with very different world views or ways of thought, it is telling that they don't know donald trump doesn't encapsulate and worries an fears that went throughout the election and this excitement, organic excitement that we're seeing. their constant attacks is really revealing there is fundamental disconnect between the mainstream media and the rest of america. lou: adrian that, your thoughts on same subject? >> absolutely. donald trump has laid out a incredibly robust blueprint for making america great again.

tour this is creating so much goodwill for the president-elect. amazing to watch how much fun everybody is having in part reliving election night. >> it is super night. anybody who didn't get to make it during the campaign trail gets to go again and another chance to do it again. he comes to wisconsin next week. i plan to go as well. so i think it is exciting. lou: byron, your thoughts on developments occurring in the backdrop here. first, rudy giuliani acknowledging that he had withdrawn his name to be in consideration of secretary of state or for any appointment that might have occurred with the transition team 10 days ago. that is sudden development, a shock and obviously it's programmed for naming of the secretary of state by the president-elect. >> it's a big deal. who would have during the

campaign predicted this? giuliani was extremely effective surrogate for donald trump. traveled with him a lot. gave a real knockout speech at the republican convention. but appears to kind of painted himself into a corner in this whole transition process by saying that he would really only accept one job, that is secretary of state. there are four big cabinet positions. secretary of state, treasury, defense and attorney general. three of those have gone really smoothly for donald trump. there is obviously a snag in this attorney general thing and rudy giuliani, finally got himself out of it. lou: yeah, i think, in withdrawing showedid something y smart. he decided enough of the insult. this is becoming an insulting process for people who expect to become secretary of state. your thoughts, matt.

looks like the reince priebus axis may have had its will exercised here, what do you think? >> let me tell you, i've been involved in transitions. as you know i worked for president bush in the white house. it is a very painful thing for people when their names float out to the press, they get vetted or have background checks done. it's a painful process. i think rudy giuliani is handling this with a lot of class. it is reason why we always thought of him as america's mayor. i'm glad he is out there with a smile on his face. lou: he is out there with a smile on his face. that speaks to his character and his class. he is one of most fiercest and most successful prosecutors in the country. he is a fighter for donald trump. he has great people around him he brought into the cabinet and administration. i don't see anybody there that has the personal connection or tie to trump who, rudy is a guy

who would have had his back no matter when and could have brought out the knives quickly as any establishment folks that may wish to shape their will? >> listen, i thought rudy would have been a great pick. he obviously understands global issues and close to the president, as you said, lou. that is an important thing for foreign leaders. they like to talk to somebody they know is close to the president. i would just say this i know there is talk about rudy really wanting this job. he indicated he wanted this job. he probably would have been offered -- lou: why the heck is that such a big deal? if he didn't acknowledge he wanted he would be less than straightforward. >> that's fine. i want to be clear. i think rudy giuliani went in to help donald trump win because he loves america. because he really thought america was going in the wrong direction and he wanted to fight because he thought -- lou: who froze him out? >> i don't know. i mean maybe there were just other candidates. people that have more foreign policy i'm saying that i don't

think rudy giuliani expected this quid pro quo. i helped you and they want the best person for the job. lou: i think you're right. matt, is it going to be smooth sailing from here? >> this is much more public transition than we've ever seen. lou: that is a happy for sunlight, transparency. all that transparency and openness obama promise, trump is delivering. i love it. >> that that is a very fair poi, lou. i never would have thought newt and christie and rudy wouldn't be in the cabinet. so it's a little bit shocking. lou: thank you very much, byron. your last, we have 10 seconds. your final thought? >> well it is actually gone fairly smoothly now. if he can finally get the secretary of state thing taken care of, it has been actually a rather smooth process. to those people just undercabinet secretaries that play hugely important role in the administration. lou: that is up next. thanks so much. appreciate it.

bragging about his great support from evangelicals, and well he should. are you surprised at that support, and what do you expect to be the, if you will, the fruit of that support? >> well, you know, i'm not surprised about the support. i've done so many rallies, i can't count. i've been on the campaign trail for a year and a half and hearing the heart beat of the evangelical community that they wanted donald trump to be the next president of the united states, and so the church spoke up, and the evidence of that is going to be him appointing chief justice that are conservative, pro-life supreme court justices and also his desire to appeal and remove the amendment so that opens up the mouthpiece of the churches in this country. lou: putting the church into the public square.

>> exactly. gary: we desperately need. that macy's performing another miracle on 34th street withdrawing matching funds from the employees who donate to planned parenthood. i just want to get your reaction to it. i didn't think we would see such a thing. >> exciting, lou. again, this is again, the conservative voice of this country speak up. silent majority has opened our mouth, and now we can maneuver as we have a unified voice, any major secular, liberal entity in this country, as long as we open up our mouths and speak, we can get them to do what we desire them to do. this is still a faith based country, and macy's withdrawing financial support to planned parenthood is proving that our mouth, our voice matters, and this is just the beginning. lou: i think you're exactly right, pastor, good to have you
