and that's their sole focus. >> i think it will and i think what the media hasn't realized. this is what i saw on the ground with the campaign, the more stories, like you just saw where the media. >> we're running out of time. do you think it's going to happen and i think we all agree. >> it's going to keep happening. >> nine years after it was first proposed, the keystone xl pipeline lives. president trump in his fourth full day in office signed five executive orders that green light both keystone and the dakota access pipeline. >> we'll see if they can get that pipeline built. a lot of jobs. 28,000 jobs. great construction jobs. we build it in the united states, we build the pipelines, we want to build the pipe, going to put a lot of workers, a lot of steel workers back to work. >> mr. trump making good on his commitment to american energy independence. but democrats making good on
7:01 pm
their threat to stall the confirmation of his nominees. tom price, one of the dems' targets says it's par for the course. >> does it trouble you at all that your-- as a nominee to serve in this administration, that somewhat would hold you to a different standard than you as a member of congress? >> we know what's going on here. >> we do, we do. >> it's-- and i understand and as my wife tells me, i volunteered for this. >> among my guests tonight, the first congressman to endorse donald trump, chris collins, joins me. also, the british elites on the u.k. supreme court rule the prime minister theresa may must have parliamentary approval before the people's vote on brexit can actually be recognized. it's clear the elites are still ruling the u.k. former advisor to prime
7:02 pm
minister david cameron, steve hilton, joins us tonight. good evening, everybody, president donald trump telling auto industry executives today that environmental regulations are, quote, out of control. the president pledged to ease regulations, making it easier for those companies to open assembly plants in the united states. mark fields praising mr. trump following the meeting. >> by the president and the economic policies he's forwarding. i would call out yesterday the president's decision to withdraw from the tpp, we've been very vocal both as an industry and as a company, and we've repeatedly said that the mother of all trade barriers is currency manipulation. and t. tpp failed in meaningful dealing with that and we appreciate the president's
7:03 pm
courage to walk away from a bad trade deal. >> and president trump signed five more executive actions today. two orders reviving the keystone xl pipeline, and the dakota access pipelines, all directives on mr. trump's promises to give america energy independence his very best efforts. >> we'll see if we can get that pipeline built. a lot of jobs, 28,000 jobs. great construction jobs. >> mr. trump also signing three other executive orders that would expedite the environmental permit process for infrastructure projects, related to the pipelines directly. the commerce department to streamline the manufacturing permit process giving the coce department 180 days to maximize the use of american steel in those pipelines. and president trump today met
7:04 pm
with senate leadership, the subject under discussion his coming supreme court choice. trump sitting down with senate majority leader mitch mcconnell, senator minority leader chuck schumer, chuck grassley ayn senator dianne feinstein. he's set to make his choice this week and announce it next week. tomorrow, mr. trump will sign several executive orders restricting immigration. those orders are expected to involve restricting access to the united states for refugees and some visa holders from particularly iraq, iran, libya, somalia, sudan, syria and yemen. well, joining me now to discuss mr. trump's furious pace, focusing on jobs and pipelines and steel, the environment, the dems' sorry campaign know they're running against the president's nominees, chairman of the american conservative union and host of the mike
7:05 pm
gallagher radio show and the salem radio network, great to have you both here. matt, let me start with you. the time schedule that president trump set for himself and his administration, they're moving at-- >> were you in the bush administration. did you ever s the bush administration moving this fas in its entirety? >> in all seriousness, not only-- only when our national security was at stake and what we're really seeing with donald trump is that, he is a man of action. look, i think we all know that he has very high energy level personally. i don't think he sleeps a lot. he doesn't drink, i don't think he has a lot of hobbies. i think what he does for a living, he works and he works the whole day, and i think this-- he's going to exhaust this staff, lou, if he keeps up this pace and i think the american people are cheering him on. >> well, he has one very lucrative hobby, he loves golf and plays it very well, i'm told. >> i don't know, his golf is
7:06 pm
all business, too, i think. >> probably gets a lot of deals done on the golf course. >> can't be all business because his handicap is so low. but turning to this trump time, mike, this is really wonderful to watch. >> the sense of urgency that he has is so inspiring. it's like every day, we see all of this stuff roll out and watch the opposition, look at what the mainstream media is focusing on, the bit about did illegals vote or not, or how big the inauguration crowd. this is the kind of minutia, they're in a frenzy, in hysteria mode because this guy is getting things down. the president is about the business of fulfilling his campaign promises. how many times have we seen republican presidents, i have to say, or elected officials come into office and not fulfill their promises with the efficiency of this guy? it's amazing. >> there was sort of a fog for the past, you know, eight years under president obama.
7:07 pm
things moved at almost a glacial pace irrespective. you mentioned, matt, only in times of national security, crisis, i think really president trump understands this is a national security crisis and i think that's what he's trying to imbue his entire administration with, inculcate that awareness and that sense of urgency, don't you? >> yeah, and these last eight years, look, i think these last eight years really brought it home to donald trump. i think he got worried as we all got worried as he saw our country just careening over a cliff, both from a national security and an economic standpoint and i do think that he comes into office, i think mike said it right, with a sense of dispatch. like, we do not have time to sit around and debate and talk. we've got to act. and i think the way he's doing these executive orders is exactly right and i think the american people, they just want us to get it back.
7:08 pm
>> i want to talk about sean spicer, the white house press secretary. watching day two of the official briefings, i look at it that that group of reporters, and no offense to my colleagues in the media, but i mean, there's something wrong there. they seem inattentive. they seem unfocused, repeat one another's questions. this is not a group of people-- their news organizations might consider in my judgment, mike, perhaps paying for the white house not to have those briefings broadcast. they don't look good. >> well, he goes in as sort of a pit bull dog. he goes this is the way it's going to be. i think a lot of americans love his style. i sure do. he's been on my radio show many times, he's a great guy, knows what he's doing and he's not going to let them pull one over on the american people like josh earnest did and prior press secretaries have done. and nonsense supposedly reports
7:09 pm
that president trump doesn't like the light suit that he wears and-- >> you mentioned those other folks whose names are, sort of fading memories now. >> rear view mirror. but, this is a bunch of attack dogs and you don't really know why they're snarling half the time, other than they're under some kind of order, whether it's an editorial order or a corporate order from which they have derived an editorial strategy. this is as sean spicer said yesterday, matt, this is a group of people and a national left wing media that has been biting at trump's ankles. a good friend of mine once said, you know, every dog has his fleas. i mean, these folks are small, they're irritating by comparison to this historic figure, who's now in the oval office, and it doesn't look to me like they are--
7:10 pm
they understand even they, the proportions they're dealing with here. >> the press pool actually sits above what used to be the white house swimming pool. so when donald trump says he's going to drain the swamp, that's the room i think of first, lou. [laughter] >> where they have the press briefings. the amazing thing about liberals, they'll run rough shod over the constitution, the clear rules of law. and where are the rules that they think are sacrosanct they must call on the mainstream media first? they think that, but we do not. >> and secretary spicer is giving them reason to recalibrate. i can't let you guys go without asking you, director james comey, there are reports, there's been no confirmation or denial as far as directly from the administration, from the white house, what do you think if the reports are true, that james comey is held over? why? and to what effect? >> well, it might be that president trump feels he's got
7:11 pm
other fish to fry besides worrying about that particular controversy. there's a lot to untangle there. i don't understand the role of director comey. it's going to be tough, going to be tough. >> matt, the last word. >> you know, i have been scratching my head about james comey ever since he decided to not prosecute hillary clinton 'cause i believe the obama white house held him back and i would be more happy with a new fbi director. >> all right. mat schlapp, mike gallagher, we appreciate it. we're coming right back. there's much, much more straight ahead. stay with us. >> kellyanne conway says the trump administration's priorities are clear. >> we're here for the american people. we are not here for the establishment, for elites. we'rhere to delir on the promises and the plans that this man has before. >> in case the left forgot, it's america first, that's and the schumer clowns and demes are slow-walking nominees
7:12 pm
through the nomination process. the demes delayed by a week, the confirmation of attorney general nominees, jeff sessions. we'll take that up with congressman chris collins. he joins me next. much more straighthead. we'll be right back. . >> on the next kennedy, the next 100 days are upon us. and we'll discuss. and glenn green wald.

>> congressman tom price facing questions from members of the senate finance committee today as he looks to be confirmed as the next secretary of health and human services. senator orrin hatch, the committee's chairman criticized his democratic colleagues for what he called their overly partisan treatment of trump's cabinet nominees, all of them. >> i'm serious when i say that i'm worried about what my colleagues on the minority side are doing to the senate as an institution. the over riding sense of comedy and courtesy has been in decline, i've never seen this level of partisan rancor when it comes to dealing with the president from an opposing par party. lou: senate comity. and joining us the congressional reason, good to have you-- i'm sorry, go ahead.
7:17 pm
>> it's good to be with you always, lou. lou: orrin hatch, senator hatch is one of those guys, he doesn't wear people out by talking just for the heck of it. he is complaining about this partisan ardor on the part led by, what is it, the schumer clown. he has, as donald trump referred to him. he has really hit a new low here. that's hard to do when your predecessor was harry reid. >> well, understand, new york is new york, i'm from new york, we're a state unique to themselves. there's no question they didn't expect to be in the position they're in in minority, not with the republicans united, the senate, house and the white house. this is anger, it's frustration and we're seeing the childish actions that would go along with it, including the partisan, absolutely terrible partisan nature of some of
7:18 pm
these questions. a question which they're stating more as a fact which is not at all. i think the rom nominees are doing a phenomenal job deflecting these. and i was glad today more than ever, the republicans starting to come together to really defend someone like tom price in particular and really calling out the other side for the partisan nature, i'm glad to see that. lou: they've been unrelenting, congressman, on price's finances, even going to one stock, a medical twice stock where he made $300 and basically accused him of being about bernie madoff. this is really, i mean, this is stuff beyond the pale. >> well, i like, lou-- i like what the wall street journal said in a quasi edit
7:19 pm
editorial, said if this is insider trading, he's doing a lousy job. lou: price, you think, will be confirmed? >> all of the nominees at this point? >> i think when we saw marco rubio and lindsey graham and john mccain come to the defense of rex tillerson, if there was any concern, i would say that's the one i had some concern on, and when they've now fallen in line, i'm comfortable, all of these cabinet officials will go through with the 50, 51 votes they have to have, if not all 52, harry reid is the one that eliminated the filibuster on presidential appointees other than the supreme court, and they're paying the price that we'll be able to have all of these folks and confirmed. they delay it for a week and put a hold on rex tillerson for a week, we can live with that, it shows how petty they're being. we're just going to move on, they're all going to be confirmed, pretty much in short order. lou: i notice how much you enjoy reminding everybody who is responsible for the simple
7:20 pm
majority in the senate. >> i can't help myself. lou: let's turn to fbi director james comey, reports that he's going to be held over. your reaction? >> well, i know we've all had some concerns about director comey. you know, if i went back two years ago before some of this, these concerns raised i thought what a great pick he was as fbi director. i will certainly trust, as we've seen the cabinet that president trump's put together, trust that he will be surrounding himself with individuals who he knows will give him good advice, and if donald trump is happy with the advice that he knows he would get from director comey and wants to keep him on, that's his prerogative and i would certainly support that as we've seen the other magnificent picks president trump has made and i'll leave that in the president's court and support him either way. lou: good for you. and i think the country is right there with you. let's turn to paul ryan, who
7:21 pm
has not always been, with, as of a week ago, with the president. where is paul ryan now? where is he in his partnership with the president of the united states, who is the senior partner by any definition? >> well, i would put it this way, lou. we know who the head of our party is. we know the reason we have unified republican government, for the first time in a very long time and that's donald j. trump, our new president. out of respect for that at turnout that mr. trump got, paul ryan and other leadership are looking to his leadership and vice-president pence is playing a key role in setting the agenda, the pace of the agenda and setting the priority, as paul ryan indicated to us today in our conference meeting, they are all on the same page. our 100, 200-day agenda we are going to be talking about, the

confirmation process for this president, but senate republicans aren't representing themselves. tomorrow republicans set to leave for a scheduled retreat in philadelphia, retreating not just from capitol hill, but work to confirm those trump nominees. the senate not expected to vote on any nominees until next week now. white house press secretary sean spicer today hit obstructionist democrats, but also added that president trump expects no delay in getting his agenda through congress, period. >> let's get it done. i mean, our country's economy and safety is at stake. but the reason that you have a confirmed secretary or director, administrator, is to make sure that you can enact the agenda that the president campaigned on and i think that every minute that we stall, is a moment that the democrats should have to answer for. lou: and the dems are burning far more than daylight. each day, debt service, interest payments on the almost

>> a senior secret service agent is under some considerable criticism for suggesting on facebook that she would rather endure jail time than take a bullet for president trump. agent carrie o'grady from the secret service's denver bureau made the comment in which she endorsed hillary clinton for crying out loud. i added the "for crying out loud". and on social media advocating for or against a political party or group. i think that fits within this. don't you? fox news reached out to the secret service for comment and they officially told us that they are aware of the incident and are looking into it. they didn't have any official comment at this time. we're not quite sure what that means either. "the washington post" sounding alarms on a new hire in the trump administration.
7:37 pm
according to the post, allies of paul ryan are very agitated over the hire of a 25-year-old breitbart reporter by the name of julia hahn. hahn is on her way to join president donald trump's white house team as a senior advisor to the president, working under chief white house strategist stephen bannon. that's quite remarkable and congratulations, if you've got "the washington post" stirred up now, julia. joining me steve hilton, a fox news contributor, former senior advisor to david cameron and last seen in washington d.c. at the inauguration. >> out somewhere enjoying ourselves. lou: you know, as ironies go, i think this one works pretty well. on top of the chamber of commerce which has been the leading establishment of the global elites of global policy in this country.
7:38 pm
your thoughts, first of all, about it. the agitation over a 25-year-old breitbart reporter joining president trump's team. that's really-- that's pretty impressive. >> what it shows, i think, is how scared the establishment is. if you like, the revolutionary wing of this administration, led by the president, if you think back to his address, that was a revolutionary address, we said so at the time, and we liked that about it and i think that steve bannon is a leading advisor on that side of the team, let's put it like that and this is another hire along those lines. i don't know this person, but the fact that she's stirring up the establishment is all to the good. lou: she's quite a reporter. an impressive young lady, in my office a couple of times, actually, over the separate weeks, over the last three weeks. i met her, had two terrific discussions with her, i'm very impressed with her, and i've just got to say, julia, if
7:39 pm
you're listening and watching, man! keep that going with "the washington post" and working with steve bannon, i know she will. >> i've seen what it's like when you get into government with revolutionary intent. the way that the system tries to shut you down at every step of the way, isomething to behold and they're going to be having that happen to them all over the place. the more people in there at that really believe, like trump does, in shaking things up the better. lou:. >> well, his senior advisor, mr. bannon, is a hard one to shake once he's gotten a hold of it. so, good luck to all. let's turn to the latest developments on brexit. only the-- i shouldn't say only, but the u.k., i can't say i am overly surprised. the court makes a rule that the parliament has to approve a referendum, the people decided on the outcome and the choice to leave the european union.
7:40 pm
>> there's a few things you need to understand, when you hear the term supreme court, don't think it's anything like the supreme court in america, in terms. respect that people have for it and its place in the constitution. it's a recent invention. it was cooked up by tony blair's government. lou: oh. >> it's appointed in secret. there's no confirmation. lou: that sounds right for an elitist establishment high court. >> it is literally, the legal cronies of the establishment that are in there. so, that's the first thing to bear in mind. lou: good to know, as they say. >> secondly, this whole court case has been a total waste of time and money and still remains that because whatever happens it's not going to have any impact in the real world. what they've said is that they have to consult parliament and parliament has to have a vote. the real question is, will parliament vote down the verdict of the people and the referendum? no, that's not going to happen.
7:41 pm
lou: it sounds vaguely suicidal. >> of course, it's never going to happen. the only question now, what form does this take? she made a speech the other day, setting out, prime minister theresa may sent out a statement setting leavings the eu. she could send it to parliament, have a vote on it, and they're not going to vote it down. lou: she was rather ambiguous and ambivalent in the early stages of her prime ministership. it was uncertain which way she was going to go. it looks though, as you suggest, that she's accepted reality. >> yes, and i think, again, that was never really a debate because what were the two big issues that the referendum campaign was all about? one, that a sovereign nation should be sovereign in terms of the laws. the laws passed by parliament should be the laws they live under. which issue really matters in terms of national could have
7:42 pm
vernty, it's immigration. you've got to control your borde borders, those two questions can only be answered by the complete exit from the european union, including the single market. lou: theresa may and donald trump meet friday and what do you expect? an announcement of a trade deal? is there something that's been percolating and building here, you know, out of sight that we don't know, or is this just going to be good to meet you and let's get to know each other? >> i think it will be more than that. but the interesting thing here, is the person who really needs a trade deal quickly is theresa may because she needs to show results and that britain can have a successful union outside of the eu and trump wants to do this because he wants to show he can show a bilateral to trade deals. the problem is, the eu rules, you can't as a country who leaves the eu can start to negotiate trade deals until you

have actually left. those-- >> brussels should accommodate. >> well, my view would be just ignore it because those rules were designed by people who never imagined that anyone would have the termerity to actually leave, and then, they want to send a message to stop anyone else from doing it so of course, they're going to make it harder and my view is she should ignore that and do a deal. lou: there goes the netherland, there goes france, the list is piling up. steve hilton, always good to have you here. >> appreciate it, lou. lou: please roll the video now, a group of adventurers uniting over the texas landscape. there they are. that texas sky even looks bigger, doesn't it? the skydiving enthusiasts tumbling out of their aircraft to compete for most creative sky dive. i think they're doing pretty well here, don't you? as they drift through the air upsidedown, some with colored gas gushing from their feet.

while others lock hands in various adorned streamers. adorned, adorned, excellent streaming. the contest was open to anyone who had a parachute and a little courage and considerable skill, of course. up next, senator chuck schumer says he and his clowns are right to fight against trump's cabinet nominees. >> but we're not going to just rush them through. these are all very important nominees and to have a few days' discussion on them, that makes sense. they're going to be in power for up to four years. lou: make that eight. betsy mccoy disagrees with senator schumer and she joins me next, in large measure because she does disagree with senator schumer. we're coming right back. this lovely lady has a typical airline credit card. so she only earns double miles on purchases she makes from that airline. what'd you earn double miles on, please? ugh. that's unfortunate. there's a better option.

exchange at-- during one moment in the senate. >> let me point out an irony here. that is that the democrats are teeing up this fight about changing medicare, but it's the democrats who have been treating medicare as their piggy bank to fund new entitlements. after all, more than half of obamacare is paid for with cuts to medicare, 716 billion over a decade. lou: and made to function in large measure because of medicaid, which carried on -- i can't recall how many million new entrants it expanded by over the course. >> there are now 74 million people on medicaid. it's far bigger than medicare. medicaid is the program for low income americans and that is the entitlement that's growing the fastest, spending on medicaid per capita is growing twice as fast as medicare, and that's where the attention really needs to be. lou: and rand paul, who is trying to take the lead with
