are expecting great results. with the lowered expectations, if some of these retailers are able to just barely cleared the bar, that would be viewed as a positive surprise. a silver lining here looking out last week's retail sales were far above expectations. every major site direct retail last week reported better than expected growth. even if we get negative report and i'm sure we will this week from retailers, they may still build effective positive guidance based on what we saw from january results reported last week. lea: macy's tends to be a to be about whether people will be the best performing of the week? >> well, i think that there's a good chance even if vcs is that the absolute best for my reporting standpoint, there is takeover speculation with stock.

as it pertains to the commentary on president trump's tax plan. >> i think that nobody thinks that the gangbusters out of retail earnings this week. a couple of silver linings related to that. the retailers have been the remix but tensions which is good. number two, last week when they reported retail sales they're a far better than expected for january, which will be captured in earnings reports that could give good guidance. and to address your question directly about the border adjustment acts, retailers don't want it. seven heads of retail firms were in d.c. last wednesday lobbying against it. it's not clear cut if it's an absolute negative for them, but certainly not in favor of it. >> reported "the wall street journal" says the tribe administration is looking into a way to reduce some of the exports and trade cap data by

excluding exports from the calculations made from stuff imported in the u.s. what do you make of that? >> well, a couple of thoughts. number one, and market watchers going to continue to figure this out probably the same way they always have. they'll just make adjustments for that. number two, this is an attempt perhaps by the administration to say trade agreements need to be restructured. true to know we are expecting to see the minutes from the january 31st to february february 31st to be released. what are you a look at? >> the fed minutes have become much more important now than they have in the past. i tend to think the market expects three hikes this year. fed governor lacher has begun to say we may need for to agree with him.
