make a deal because to his court is a good man and he wants to show compassion for the million or so daca recipients who through no fault of their own are basically americans that don't have the rights you'd expect. so he's trying to do the right thing. he wants to balance that responsibility as president of the united states with his base. it is a tall order. lauren: do you think the president is placing his priority on the agenda and maybe protecting dreamers in this case over party alliances? >> no, i don't think it is either or. i agree with the harlan hill in so much there's a deal and that everyone compromises and compromising of in policymaking and governing is strength, not a weakness. i don't see this as capitulating, turning the president's back on his base. everybody gets something in border security is important,

but so were protections and civil rights and freedoms and protecting daca students. >> what you think republicans can get if they don't get the wall in terms of border security? do you think we can see extra surveillance of our targeting of the growth country? >> i think this will be something colorful and will be able to be referenced as a success. ultimately, what speaks to voters and people that put their trust in the president and those that selected senator schumer, my former boss is the senate democratic leader is the ability to get things done. everybody came to the table with the best of intentions. cheryl: we are so ahead of the deadline here. congress had six months to do this. they had until march. >> that is because the president has put this process into

people that they ask that they ask of the respondents it's a good idea to replace the current health care system with single-payer. is this the way the democrats are trying to position themselves for the midterms? can you really see this going through? some even distant themselves. >> i'm sure i'll get a lot of angry tweets from my colleagues. i don't see this as practical. this is about jockeying for the democratic presidential primaries in 2020. i think this is the activist tailwagging a larger democratic dog. last time i checked, we still live in a market economy and i believe they're preparing a keeping the aca obama cared is more important than pursuing something that is i think not tenable and doesn't speak to the totality of the democratic party and swing voters.
