cheryl: hurricane maria sleeping of the eastern caribbean, category five moving towards puerto rico. lauren: senior meteorologist janice dean is tracking that live in the weather center at the very latest and some areas getting hit twice. if i hurricane, and now maria appeared reporter: devastation in dominica this morning. category when it made landfall and now we are concerned for the british and u.s. virgin islands as well as puerto rico. puerto rico could see nine to 11-foot storm surge, upwards of a foot of rain fell, mudslides

and devastating storms unfortunately the next 24 to 48 hours. close to the bahamas, indications are that it will miss the u.s. right now. we still have to monitor it with hurricane warnings for the caribbean including the british and the u.s. virgin islands as well as puerto rico. puerto rico could take a hit. here's a feature radar, one of our reliable forecast over the virgin islands again. devastated by irma and very close to puerto rico, san juan, puerto rico which could be devastating as a strong category five or category four storm. the damage is going to be the same. tropical models give us an indication is stored in the bahamas and missed the u.s., but again we will have to monitor it. also watching hurricane josé off the coast of the northeast, bringing strong rip currents as well as potential for storm
