bipartisan agreement of health care happening just hours after the president called the proposal a short-term solution. this is that the proposal by republican senator lamar alexander and patty murray says. their plan would continue federal subsidies to insurance companies to reduce payments for lower income americans for two years and just a flexibility to avoid some obamacare what coverage requirements. the next step for them is enough support to push their plan through congress. cheryl: on top of the budget and everything else. and then president trump once again pitching tax reform in his speech to the heritage foundation last night. >> let's give our country the best christmas present of all, massive tax relief. this is our opportunity to unleash a new middle class america. train to the president said it

would lift the economy to hike that seems in the ronald reagan administration. cheryl: the senate voted 50 to 47 yesterday to move ahead of the republican budget plan. it sets up about 202,018 budget which would permit republicans to tax-cut later this year adding up to $1.5 trillion to the national debt over the coming decade. cheryl: well, the great hollywood mogul harvey weinstein has resigned from the board of the weinstein company. the board standing by its decision to fire weinstein as chief executive of the company in october 8th. weinstein has been accused of sexual assault, and harassment by 30 women but denies having nonconsensual sex with anyone. lauren: his younger brother, bob weinstein is also accused of sexual harassment by female producers. spike tv said now investigating

allegations against bob weinstein as well. train to the story keeps unfolding as harvey weiss dean going to take legal action against the company that he cofounded? misty mare is joining us with more on this. >> good morning. thanks for having me. cheryl: teensy reporting that his contract basically allowed for him to make payments if he was charged claims against them for sexual harassment but he could keep his job. all this has come to light that he's been fired. does he have a strong case? >> it's actually shocking because you would think he would have been a leverage to say that his termination was not appropriate given what has come out so far. in this situation come it is dictated by the contract. cheryl, interesting contact cause your accounts ahead of time for any sort of sexual harassment allegations that said

if you're accused of sexual harassment the first time is worth this amount of money. the second time this amount of money. because it is contemplated in the contract from a weinstein may have a case. trane studios 22% of the company. it's been clear basically to offer him the code of conduct. the argument could be made here by his attorney, patty glaser. we haven't heard officially if they are going to file but we expect that the next couple days. basically she can say at least he doesn't come back to the company but there's a huge financial settlement he cashes out, changes the name is all forgotten. >> that's probably what you'll see because when you have a situation that could result and will likely result in this extrapolated litigation, the company probably just wants to move on. you will likely see that scenario. a golden parachute payout to weinstein tedious resolve the.

but it is a really interesting fact in something that's weeks to weinstein's favorite that this issue is contemplated. it wasn't unknown to the company. they thought about it in advance. cheryl: may see, there are investigations underway in new york and london. who knows, maybe more will sprout at. not just an issue of a criminal lawsuit. he may face criminal charges because the statute of limitations which make their debut women from filing, but they can be brought. >> civil cases can be brought again. that will pinch on statute of limitations issues. the two-year statute of limitations of claims coming out of new york so it's all going to depend on that. i think we are going to see a flurry of claims coming out in the civil sector. as he pointed out, criminal charges are not occluded although they might he unlikely.

the burning question remains, can they find a solution to the controversy? cheryl: some of the headlines making news. you were at the meeting yesterday. what did you hear? >> permission or someone give an update after the meeting with the issue player is kneeling national anthem was expected to be the focal point. when asked about making the nfl players stand for the national anthem, here is what he said. >> we did not ask for that. we spent a day talking about the issues better players have been trying to bring attention to about issues in our communities, to make our community better. that was the entire focus today. lauren: they didn't get to it. the meeting set to continue in new york city and we'll see if there will be some sort of compromise to end its controversial protests.

unlawful. mr. judge eric watson issued a temporary restraining order that prohibits the trump administration from enforcing it. the white house issued a statement saying today's dangerously flawed district court order undercuts the efforts to keep the american people safe and enforce minimum security standards for entry into the united state. they are vowing to appeal. two chicago police officers involved in the mass removal from a doctor from the flight have been fired. investigation said the officers mishandled the situation and used excessive force. the video you are seeing a viral in april showing officers dragging a bloody dr. david dowd on the plane. two other agents suspended after an investigation. the security guard shot while confronting the las vegas shooter is not missing after all. mgm resort says they just want privacy.

lauren: but now the president says he opposes the bill. let's bring in gop strategists? the kodiak. what exactly is going down? why would the president opposes bipartisan bill? >> i think since the deal has been announced it's not clear this is a bill that can pass the house. and so, that is the challenge. you have the republican study committee, obviously the house freedom caucus, hardline groups of conservatives. their leader seems to be negative about this. this may be the opening ante on this particular deal. basically undoes the executive order president trump sand yesterday which ends the so-called bsr payment which allowed them to lower premiums for sick and poor people who are in the exchange.

it may not be enough. it creates flexibility to states and does allow for plans which are cheaper. i don't know that it's enough that i'll probably have to get a good number of republicans in the house to have any viability. lauren: it's interesting because in the house that's where they did pass her pill for obamacare. i guess this bipartisan plan is for republicans or at lease some of them with endorsement of obamacare and they can't get behind that. >> that's really the challenge. it puts back in place the for advertising. the obamacare plan to care plan design now. there are some things that senator ted cruz of texas expressed concern about that. this is to senators that cut the deal. the house is not involved in that. cheryl: many people are saying tax reform would be easier to parse than health care reform. maybe that's not the case but certainly the president sold his tax plan last night speaking at

the heritage foundation and a set is fine as a simplification of the current tax code. it's about repatriation of money overseas. and really for the middle class. an outcome of the is the timing. listen to this sound bite from treasury secretary the nature mnuchin. >> this is about jobs and economic growth. we get tax refund and this year. it will be and after object to. our objective is to get it on the president's desk by december to get him to sign it this year. trade to his tax reform getting bad this year? >> in the house this year. i'm also looking all through the senate this year. keep in mind the senate has to pass a budget this week and now looks like they will do it. that allows the house to begin the process of passing tax reform. this is a timing issue. the senate just doesn't move that quickly. we've learned that on health

blocked buster hits, whether you call it her dear hollywood, a lot of people are now questioning not only the motives of hollywood that is this really an industry i want to support with my hard-earned dollars. >> hollywood is making this to take her name off some films are pushed by films altogether. >> part of the problem here is that weinstein, the brand name sexual harassment. it means behind the scenes you've got somebody who essentially has been a monster, depraved, everything that we've heard it happen in hollywood or the whole concept of someone who will hold your career or dreams in your hand and crush it. i think what she said, this is going to affect the box office. that is why hollywood another one that's attached or done anything is running for the hills.

lauren: katrina, employees at the phone are answering the phone with wc. how did these allegations against his brother bob affect things? >> a lot of people say here we go. of course they are related so they must've been colluding somehow. of course bob said he didn't know anything about harvey, but anything associated with the weinstein name is now taboo. whether or not allegations about bob are true, people will assume he is guilty before innocent and so that just doesn't look good for him. it's a big blow to the company financially. lauren: you are a film critic at a lot of movies coming out, some of them potential contenders for oscar nominations. now some of those nice. >> not only are they are nice, but part of the problem is how do you market this to people knowing that the money they

spend for the time they may spend behind the scene, somebody may have suffered, somebody may have been apprised for harassed at this point it's going to be very hard. the weinstein name going forward will be synonymous with us. if something happens in the workplace you're like they harvey weinstein and you and that's what it will mean as opposed to what used to mean quality film. not anymore. lauren: do you think wind and will try to make a comeback year? i know he has reportedly said that. a movie that harvey was expected to solo direct. that would be a debut for him. what happens to that? >> i think the sad thing about this is harvey weinstein was a great producer. he was someone you had a great eye for film, someone you knew how to cut a film. he was famous for cutting films to the chagrin of directors, but ushering them to get awards. what is going to happen here is

>> to still love these 23,000 days? it's hard not to smile when you see these numbers. >> the great part of that is sometimes it rains back news that you and i talk about everyday. the mainstream a little bit more and saturday pick up the paper and turn on the tv. it is a great headline but it also reminds us the market is up 16% on a year-to-date basis. we are doing well in terms of earnings growth. but it also is an opportunity to have a branding. trained to look at the dow since the elections of 25% since obviously the commission 16% year-to-date. all of these numbers feel good, but of course people talk about correction. fox news and fox business saying i'm in cash. watch out. would you say when you hear that kind of noise?
