4:00 am
off our special coverage of the elections. lou: good evening. at this hour polls have just closed in the state of virginia which is argue bit most of important race to be decided this evening. the outcome could have major implications for next year's hid-term elections. ed gillespie is in a tight race with northam -- ralph northam. we are told by our decision desk there is no thought an early call in this race, it's too
4:01 am
close, based on our voter analysis. a striking shift in president trump's tone against north korea. president trump urging north korea to come to the negotiating table. new evidence of democratic collusion are russia. reports that the co-founder of fusion gps met with the russian attorney before and after she sat down with donal done donaldp jr. in virginia voters are deciding whether to elect republican ed gillespie or democrat ralph northam. democrats tend to do better with higher turnout.
4:02 am
a steady turnout despite rain in the northern part of the state and threatening rain in the southern part. officials saying there was a substantial higher number of early voters this year compared to past gubernatorial elections. but gillespie says momentum is now on his side. >> our voters are enthusiastic. i think the intensity are on our side. people are pumped up out there. but i have been feeling it for some time now. i think we'll win this race. i put forward the plans to get virginia growing again. people are hungry for that. lou: joining us next, ed
4:03 am
rollins. our voter analysis shows it's too early to call. ed: virginia is about this. the change in virginia over 10-15 years ago. it used to be a swing state and republican state. now you have large technology government workers in northern virginia. if they get them out obviously it makes a difference. it's pouring rain. the likelihood is they won't turn out. if i was gillespie i would feel pretty good right now. lou: 5 point was the last margin we got. ed: 5 points is nothing in a race like this. i think he has put the structure together and the organization together. the key thing we said last
4:04 am
night, president trump did well in that state because he energized african-americans. democrats have not been able to energize african-americans since obama. lou: democrats are hard to energize anywhere after the donna brazile hack book comes out and her straightforward statements about the crooked rigging of the election last year by the dnc and clinton campaign. ed: what is the standard of the democratic party today? bernie sanders? barack obama's coalition? he ran two successful presidential races. or is it hillary? terry mcauliffe is the old epitome of hillary clinton. he doesn't have the ability to generate more votes. new voters and younger voters
4:05 am
will make the difference and i think they will be for gillespie in a close election. never underestimate the religious right and they are strong trump supporters. lou: ed rollins will rejoin us later in the broadcast. just last month president trump tweeted he was against negotiating with kim jong-un. i told rex tillerson that he's wasting his time trying to negotiate with little rocket man. save your energy, rex, we'll do what has to be done, said the president. but today the president in seoul said he's open to talking with little kim. president trump: i think we are making great progress and showing great strength. we have many things happening
4:06 am
that we hope backed -- we hope to god we never have to use. with that being said, i really believe it makes sense for north korea to come to the table and to make a deal that's good for the people of north korea, and the people of world. -- of the world. lou: this breaking news coming in. associated press reporting president trump planned a surprise visit to the dnz but canceled it because of poor weather at the dmz. joining us the chief strategist for the make america great again coalition, dr. sebastian gorka. the president has decided he is open to negotiating more than
4:07 am
that, urging kim jong-un to sit down at the negotiating table. your reaction. >> well, lou, he is the master of the deal, an has a track record of doing this. when things don't go his way with plan a, he moves to plan b. when things weren't going too well when he asked the gop to support him on the hill, what happened? he invited schumer, he invited pelosi to the oval. he had dinner with them. i think this is the same kinds of pattern. we have had great high homes in china interceding. remember the mar-a-lago summit? the president was very displeased with xi jinping's apparent inability to bring leverage to bear on pyongyang. it looks like he's signaling to pyongyang he's prefired
4:08 am
negotiate face to face. lou: as i recall he also launched 50 cruise missiles at syria while they were having dish. talking about china. xi is making clear and obvious moves to support president trump's efforts with kim jong-un. the president today acknowledging those efforts and imploring russia to do the same to constrain and stop the nuclearization of the korean peninsula. what do you think of those efforts? >> you have to -- the chinese theft of u.s. intellectual property. and with regard to moscow and
4:09 am
the u.s., xi manages to bring both of those countries to the table, to brit most of stringent package of sanctions against north korea is very, very impressive. but we have yet to see requisite de-escalation. the rhetoric out of north korea is still blueserring and saber rattling. we need to see them halt the nuclear testing. that would be a clear sign they wish to deescalate. and that's what the president is waiting for. lou: while we can't say the has been brought to an end by the president's diplomatic efforts. we can say there has been a significant pause. if that is breached it is implicit in the atmosphere that there will be consequences for kim jong-un. after all the assessments from
4:10 am
our intelligence and defense departments, we are looking at the imminent prospect of ballistic missiles with significant warheads on them within striking distance of the united states. this looks like a critical moment for kim jong-un. >> absolutely. this is something that has been festering for decades, facilitated by the clinton administration. maybe even worse under obama. it was nuclear blackmail on a global scale. but it got to the point where we have a new commander-in-chief who said enough is enough. a secretary of defense general mattis said we'll destroy you, meaning the regime of the north it's decision time for pyongyang. lou: we'll have the latest results from the virginia biewb
4:11 am
gubernatorial race. we have this analysis from our decision desk. too close to call at this early moment. new reports the co-founder of fusion gps met with the russian attorney before and after she met with donald trump jr. we'll take up the real russian collusion with ed rollins and much more. jurors deliberating in the corruption trial of democratic corruption trial of democratic senator bob menenenenen liberty mutual stood with me when i was too busy with the kids to get a repair estimate. i just snapped a photo and got an estimate in 24 hours. my insurance company definitely doesn't have that... you can leave worry behind when liberty stands with you™ liberty mutual insurance.

4:17 am
thrown out of office. and governor christie who goes out of office in january will have the opportunity to appoint another senator. lousenator.. ed: governor christie got famous when he made the statement get off the beach. now voters are saying get off the stage. he has a 14% approval rating. lou: if we had the image of governor christie sitting on a beach all by him lonesome. he gave president obama a big ole hug. let's talk about donna brazile.
4:18 am
her new book "hacked." donna if you are watching, here i am hawking your book for you. she says clinton rigged the whole thing and bought democratic national committee. and now as she is peddling the book she is denying that's what she said. i have never seen this level of contradiction in this high an art form. ed: she made the best seller's list before the book was out by her comments. i think the clintons did rig this election. not to know where your money is going, for the manager. nobody knows who spent money now. no one knows who paid for feution. -- for fusion. i knew every penny. i had a treasurer in pat
4:19 am
buchanan's sister, and every night she told me where the money was and we moved it around. to say they don't know what they did is absurd and not truthful. lou: fusion gps met with the russian attorney who set up the meeting to sit down with donald trump, jr. and jared kushner and paul manafort. and then met with the russian attorney after the meeting. what do you make of it? ed: the russians are not foolish. they thought she was going to win like everybody else did. i think they scrambled after the fact to try to develop a relationship with trump and trump's people. there are a few people in the campaign up to i'd enough to sit down with the russians, including his own family.
4:20 am
but at the end of the day it didn't make a difference. it gave us a lot of after-burn. lou: wouldn't that be entrapment? gps fusion continues to insinuate itself into almost he unseemly part of this sordid operation known as the clinton campaign. ed: the clinton campaign is a criminal enterprise, as close as i have seen in politics. but at the end of the day, they lost. she is a lousy candidate. lou: i'm fiction agent on fusion gps. ed: you should be. it's very serious. lou: are we going to see accountability? for that operation running a
4:21 am
smear campaign. politics of destruction seem mild for what they were doing. ed: the critical question you raced on this show many -- raids on this show many times. i think to a certain extent i go back to the point -- someone should have walked in to donald trump and said this is what's going on and you need to be careful. they are trying to even trawp and this administration is trying to entrap you. i think as a presidential candidate, nominee of the party. what the fbi did, what comey did. lou: the top of the fbi, those top officials, that looks like a criminal enterprise to me. ed: they are still there so i don't want to say that. lou: they are a major, major
4:22 am
issue. ed rollins. thanks so much. appreciate it. be sure to vote in tonight's poll. do you believe donna brazile's tell-all hacks seem to be the answer to hillary's question, what happened? cast your vote on twitter @loudobbs. follow me on twitter and on wall treat stocks close mixed. but the dow gained 9 points. the 58th since president trump was elected. the nasdaq down 19. vol on the big board pushing 4 billion shares. today marking one year since president trump's election victory. markets have been soaring ever since. the dow up 8%.

the nasdaq up 30%. i know he was elected on november 8. i know that. but it's 365 days later. listen to my report three times a day coast to coast on the salem radio network. new memos shed light on the deep state cover-up. a full report on the corrupt clintons and their good friend president obama next.

lou: breaking news. we can bring you the first raw vote totals out of the state of the virginia for the gubernatorial race. 5. mercedes: of the precincts -- 5% of the precincts are reporting. gillespie is leading northam 51 to 48%. the democratic party is collapsing. new evidence shows democrats, the ones colluding with russia
4:29 am
as they accuse donald trump of doing that and manipulating if you will with the department of justice, the fbi director to create a special counsel to investigate new administration. now comey, james comey, the fired fbi director has produced memos that shows the former fbi director covering up the email scandal, accusing her of criminal gross negligence and then changed it to careless. reporter: he initially classified her mishandling of classified documents as gross negligence. >> there is evidence they were
4:30 am
extremely careless in their handling of highly classified information. reporter: chuck grassley wants more information from fbi director christopher wray. including records that show who made the edit. carter page had contacts with a russian deputy minister in 2016. page promised some incredible insight and outrage from clinton lawmakers and russian aides. this morning the senior democrat took aim at the administration. >> i think what the president is trying to do is disparage the congressional investigation and disparage bob mueller. reporter: the co-founder of fusion gps met with the russian lawyer before and after the june 2016 trump tower meeting with
4:31 am
the president's son. the contract shed new light on its research to discredit then candidate donald trump. lou: we are coming right back. much more on gps fusion and a day of incomparable news developments. say with us. president trump demanding world powers do more to combat the north korean threat. president trump: china is trying hard to solve the problem with north korea. we hope russia will also be helpful. lou: charlie hurt joins me here next. we'll show you a british thrill seeker making his dreams come through high above south africa. we'll have video coming up next. we'll have video coming up next.

lou: 11% of the precincts reporting in the virginia gubernatorial race. edgillespie continues to lead democrat ralph northam. it will be a tight one indeed. charlie hurt, great to see you.
4:36 am
what do you make of this early lead for ed gillespie who was down in all the polls? charlie: i night would be a much tighter race than we expected when northam's people dropped that despicable, horrid race-baiting ad suggesting if you supported ed gillespie you have believed in tbliegd a pickup truck and running over minority children. when they dropped that, it was clear their internals showed them in deep, deep trouble. so i'm not totally surprised it's this close. if northam can't pull this out, the democrats are even in more trouble than we thought. lou: how can they be in more trouble than we thought. when you have donna brazile and
4:37 am
her book "hacked" out today revealing she knew and acknowledged this was a rigged election, the clinton campaign bought out the dnc a year before the election. the list goes on. gps fusion. at awful so-called opposition research. , the smear machine. when we look at everything that's gone on. the democrats are a party so corrupt it's hard to find a word that is sufficiently insulting to everything they stand for. >> when we first started hearing about fusion gps and some of the tactics. you heard these accusations the democrats were behind some of it. all of this sounded at the time like strange conspiracy theories. but at every stage of the process we find out the wildest
4:38 am
conspiracy theories that any sane person would dismiss have all been verified and turned out to be completely true. we know a kremlin-backed oligarch in moscow in addition to the dnc and clinton campaign, they all paid for this dossier. the tomorrow collusion as you have been point out all week, the only collusion with russia that went on during election was between the hillary campaign and the dnc, and now we see the kremlin itself actually paid for part of this. it is stunning. now we know this russian lawyer that spurred all of those conspiracy stories about donald trump, jr. being in cahoots with the russians, she not only met twt fusion gps people before meeting with donald trump, jr.
4:39 am
but met with them after as well, raising the question about the conspiracy theories that maybe these people tried to set donald trump, jr. up to get some semblance of dirt on the trump campaign to try to make this false scandalous scurrilous accusation of colluding between the trump campaign and the kremlin. lou: to bring in the private sector more in this discussion of collusion. we also know despite all the protests and nonsense that emanated from the silicon valley, the only collusion that has been established is that between facebook and twit errant russians who have been snorting and superiority suggesting we couldn't have a president who had so conspired with the russians when it turns out it was -- they were the ones together conspiring and the
4:40 am
colluding and all of the other nonsense. it's between quite a remarkable awakening for most of americans. charlie: only the innocent american taxpayer is the only people that the campaign finance laws apply to. they don't apply to facebook or the dnc, they don't comply with all those campaign finance rules. lou: i want to bring the audience up to date. 19% of the precincts in virginia. ralph northam has taken the lead,

4:47 am
families. joining me is pastor robert jeffress. the snark and the aggressive -- ,atheistic response. >> some of these on the left who don't believe in prayer don't believe in god. they are atheists. when they wake up in hell one day like church shooter devin kelley *. but others on the left do believe in prayer like don lemon. but they are believing more legislation would have prevented this tragedy. we know from the facts of the
4:48 am
case it wouldn't have happened. the only person who might have been prevented from having a gun would be the hero who took down the killer. lou: there is a big comfort level with insult be those who believe in god, insulting those who believe that prayer is the appropriate response in these moments. and i don't understand ridiculing other people's religious beliefs. we don't gone this broadcast and ridicule atheists or any specific religion. we have reached a level as society that makes me wonder where is the church? are the churches themselves failing our communities and have been weakened to such a point without an effective response?
4:49 am
>> the church has become more like the world instead of allowing the world to become more like believers. there are many, many people who do cry out in prayer. one of the reasons we pray is for those left behind, that they would realize the truth of the psalm that god is close to hose who are broken heard the. the good news of the bibles one day the lord will return and defeat evil forever. and that what's we are praying for. lou: up next, the fusion gps founder meeting with the russian attorney at the center of the trump tower meeting. we'll take that up right after the break. stay with us. what's going on? what's going on in the swamp?

hill elites to really cut taxes for the middle class animal businesses? 82% said no. democrat ralph northam extending his lead over republican ed gillespie. the margin is 51-48%. returning, let's go to what we are learning about comey and clinton and early draft we find said that simply it was gross negligence and probably charges should ensue as a result. when we see two months later it's extreme negligence. what do you make of it? >> senator grassley calling for the reason behind the red lining and changing it from gres
4:55 am
negligence to extreme carelessness is crucial. it would be a refreshing relief if this was turned over to a grand jury so people can know their peers are deciding this. there is direct precedent to mishandling classified information. in 1992 the military courts determined that congress established a scale, gross negligence was at the bottom of it. if there was more serious criminal intent you prosecute a more serious crime. that's why it's so important. lou: greggg -- gregg, your thoughts? it looks like somebody is trying to dilute something. gregg: it says to me that comey knew hillary clinton violated
4:56 am
the espionage act. and decided to was going to exonerate her. so he crosses out gross negligence and substitutes a synonymous term which is extreme carelessness. i'll give an example. in almost every state or yuri instruction. when the jurors say what is gross negligence. here is california's. gross neglect joins an extreme departure from ordinary care. in order wards, extreme carelessness. lou: it looks to me like he misinterpreted just about everything. gregg: there is another law she seems to have violated understood the espionage act. willfully mishandling classified
4:57 am
documents. comey said in his famous news conference she didn't intend to violate the law. well, that's not the standard. he misinterpreted that law as well. lou: the co-founder of fusion gps meeting with the attorney who famously met with donald trump, jr. and his associates and then met with fusion gps afterward. >> i think ways so important here is the forensic accounting. i think regardless of any type of bias or politicization that's being brought to the table in this investigation or the media's coverage of it. that accounting does not lie. as long as these attorneys keep dig and keep revealing, and that's uncontrovertible evidence of who was funding and why and how, and the timing is crucial.
4:58 am
the more that we learn, the more people will be on the hook. it's suspicious, but at some point we need an answer and decision. this can't keep dragging on. lou: i'm not confident we'll ever get answers from the congressional investigation. we need a criminal investigation of the entire matter. by a special counsel. gregg: three months ago the house judiciary committee demanded in a letter to attorney general jeff sessions to appoint a special counsel to investigate loretta lynch, james comey and hillary clinton. lou: you don't know which way the wind is blowing with jeff sessions. who is lindsey graham?
4:59 am
he has no committee standing? he's a favorite on sunday talk shows. but beyond that not much else. where do we go the get justice? we found out according to the most of recent reporting of sarah carter that jeff sessions the attorney general has not recused himself on the matter of uranium one. gregg: even though he said so three times in his confirmation hearing. i take it as good news there is a continuing investigation of hillary clinton and corrupt pay-to-play in the uranium one deal. there is plenty of evidence there. but they also ought to add the goes fusion dossier as well as the rigging of the nomination. all of those things. lou: i wish i had great confidence in congressional investigations of anything.
5:00 am
emily, and gregg jarrett, thank you for being with us tonight. chris farrell will joioioioioi >> virginia, we have witnessed yet another democratic sweep today. tonight, new jersey sends an unmistakable message to the entire nation. we are better than this. n]lauren: democrat declaring victory in virginia and new jersey where the governor's race as a referendum on president donald trump. he's responding this morning. train to the president arrives in china but not before delivering a stern warning to north korea. do not underestimate us.
