lou: wildfires are raging in southern california tonight. fueled by the santa ana winds, strong winds. evacuations have been ordered for 200,000 people. firefighters are struggling to even battle at the margin of those five fires in what is that state's worst fire season ever. adam housley is in ventura with our report. reporter: this is a multi-day

weather events projected to last until friday. this has only just begun. >> the beginning of december brought a flurry of wildfires across southern california with hurricane-force winds and conditions tinder dry. the largest and most destructive the thomas fire 60 miles northwest of los angeles in ventura county. it drove tens of thousands from their homes. >> i have again here all my life. to see this happen is crazy. reporter: massive images show the smoke visible from space. the dry conditions along with the santa ana winds are fueling if the fires. >> it doesn't take a lot under these conditions to start a fire.
