3:30 am
david: the point is to get the tax cuts the markets are going to pop up? watch out folks. that's it for "forbes on fox." thank you for watching and have a wonderful weekend. keep it right here. >> you think these guys avoided a government shutdown? only until december 22 and if democrats like minority leader chuck schumer don't get their way on illegal immigration all bets are off but is that a threat that schumer used to use? >> we believe strongly in immigration reform. we are shutting down the government and we are going to raise the debt ceiling until we pass immigration reform. he would be governmental chaos. >> so he's okay with it chaos now? i'm lauren simonetti welcome to cashing in. i cashing in for this week rachel, gerri willis and juan williams. welcome to the show.
3:31 am
gary we will begin with you. our democrats being hypocrites right now? >> if there is enough hypocrisy in both parties over the years for a couple of oceans but all you need to do is look at the special place in my heart for the schumer pelosi standards party, say one thing and do the other but let's be clear nothing is going to change when all is said and done that if there's a government shutdown the republicans will be blamed in that there's a government shutdown that things going to change because central services will be out there in what we do know is eventually the ceilings are going up deficits and with what you do with streamers and children brought here illegally with their parents? >> gary is right what you have here is the president using the
3:32 am
dreamers as a bargaining chip. the president has said he wants to resolve this issue. public opinion is on the side of these young people who came to this country as children and who have grown up here speak english server and our military go to our schools. we want them to succeed that at the moment you have the president in the midst of these budget negotiations saying to democrats this is part of the deal and the democrats and well this is just about the dreamers not comprehensive which is what you heard from schumer and 2013. he's talking about comprehensive legislation. here we are talking about the same people. lauren: rachel how does this play out in maybe this is part of the president's bargaining chip. how does it play out in the midterm elections next year especially for democrats in red states or states that voted for tom to answer the big election in a presidential in 2020 because many democrats will be positioning themselves like we did this to protect dreamers. >> i don't think the democrats will look good if the government
3:33 am
shuts down over this spring. frankly the kate steinle verdict has changed the game. no it doesn't have directly to o do with streamers that speaks to sign the problems we have with immigration and why we need to think this through thoughtfully. this isn't just hypocritical on the part of chuck schumer is also necessary the president wants daca or a solution for the dreamers. he attended through march so there's no need to hold that the government over this right now. i agree with jim jordan when he said that nothing good happens right before christmas. there are a lot of things that need to be resolved around the issue of daca. we need to do a chain marred da'ish -- chain migration and do this properly. lauren: i'm laughing rachel because sometimes people are nicer around the holidays. >> you know what i mean. i mean in government. lauren: the president has shown sympathy when it comes to this
3:34 am
population. he really has so congress has to do with this and they have until march to do so. >> as we told congress to do. want something on his desk by martin let me tell you is so hard to listen to the democrats these days. they are trying to look like they are taken the lead on this issue and it looks like trump will score big time on this because everybody's been saying the public is on the side of doing something for dreamers. if you listen to the democrats just look back. conyers is either an icon of the house or repeat harass her. former fbi director james comey is either a person who never should have been fired by the president or he is a horrible person and should be investigated until the election and stole the election from hillary rodham clinton. listening to them is so confusing. >> let's remember how we got here in the first place. for many years under the last president who did nothing about the immigration problem we had
3:35 am
so many people coming in. these dreamers are great success stories that they are here because they were led here. the basic story that i see by both parties they don't take this down to december 22 until the holidays and scaring people. i have elderly coming up and asking me on my radio show and my going to get my social security check of free shutdown so definitely a little political maneuvering to scare the living daylights out of people. lauren: juan what do you think of the fact that you can make the argument that democrats are holding hostage because of the spending bill and republicans want more defense spending but because of immigration they are holding hostage are men and women in uniform that are serving and fighting for our country. >> wait a second does conversation is gone off the rails. it seems it's a clear case of who the grinch is and wanting to steal christmas from the children. you all say the president has good intentions and want something done by march.
3:36 am
he could have done something by last fall instead you have these families very nervous having to spend the holiday season worried about deportation and i.c.e. agents coming into their family homes and yet. lauren: jerry, go. last january the president then president obama put in place plans that rounded up people in january and february of this year. >> everybody says we need immigration reform. gary just spoke about this. when immigration reform is being done in a had the gang of eight in the senate under obama who stopped it? republicans. trump makes immigration into a whipping boy and every immigrant into a demon in order to win elections and you ignore them. >> this whole general talk about demonizing immigrants that is
3:37 am
just not true. the president is trying to do something about the safety of this country. there's nothing wrong with that and the job is getting done. just the rhetoric has stopped a ton of people from crossing the border and that's good news and by the way one used the word grinch. where it comes to government spending their been more spending every year. we just wanted to grow another trillion in the next four years of government. >> what happened to republican objections to growing to that? lauren: we willl at you rapid set. if we get finally a solution to illegal immigration there will be a way that more legal immigrants can take part in the american dream. it would be prosperity for them. wouldn't this be good for them? >> absolutely. there would be a lot of irony of donald trump is the person to solve immigration reform and i think he can because the only thing holding it up is border security and some of these issues like chain migration which i think we need more time
3:38 am
to deal with. ramming this through right before christmas is a very bad policy idea. lauren: and rachel nothing good happens around christmas. you've got to remember this the report on trump and russia that rattled the stock market last week. now the president is suggesting investors should able to sue. is he right or wrong?
3:39 am
3:40 am
3:41 am
i'm gerri willis with the "fox business" three. we can agree and after stronger than expected jobs report. stocks were the leader. the labor department says 220,000 jobs in november and the unemployment rate at a 17 year low at 17 by 1% hourly wages
3:42 am
grew less than as expected the deal's been hammered out between britain and the eu. the breakthrough allows both sides to move on to the key topic of trade. many predict these will be the toughest talks yet. watch the fox business network for the business and financial news. "fox business" giving you the power. lauren: president trump sparking a new debate suggesting investors sue abc news office come after the network's false report on trump and russia drop in the dow by foreign appoints a saturday. gary is that four-week suspension for abcs ryan ross and not? >> not for this bias but look
3:43 am
this is not the first time that he is done this. this is just another example and if we can go to 1000 examples of this on a daily basis. this time it affected the markets and i hope they get a they get it right. you can tell abc is getting it right now because they told him he is not covering trump them are going for it. lauren: abc did offer clarification and then a correction after this fiasco. this is what the tweeted quote correction of abc special abc special misreport flynn per pair to testify the president-elect donald trump directed him to make contact with the russians during the transition initially as a way to work together to fight isis in syria confident now says that rachel that's completely different than collusion. >> of course and let's be clear abc apologized and retracted because donald trump's powerful twitter account held him accountable. i don't think we would have seen
3:44 am
brian ross getting his leave of absence or the amount of attention the retraction did have without donald trump. he has 47 million twitter followers and abc has 12. this could impact the markets ended also impacted the business model of mainstream media and all their fake news. how many more hits are they going to take to their credibility before they get their act together and realized the american people do not trust them? lauren: jerry brian ross has a history of making mistakes. why wouldn't abc on a topic like this that his report more? >> that's a great question that's what they said was missing. they didn't do enough venting and gary was talking about mistakes he made in the past. he said anthrax was responsible for so much suffering in washington a decade ago. this was the guy who has made mistakes over and over again and yet he keeps his job as if you were employed by the government. there are no repercussions for
3:45 am
this guy. the thing that needs to happen is abc needs to step up and take action and the more we talk about it the more we are open about it the more we understand about how it happened the more likely at some point something will happen. lauren: is all it is true that fake news does it exist? >> any news that pleases him. bodyslamming "cnn"." and now this sue abc. the money was recovered to gary's point the market went down and the market went back up. nobody lost money here. trying to deter people from paying attention to the russian scandal and the robert mueller investigation and you guys shouldn't fall for it. lauren: i understand people did lose money but that's part of the gamble that is the stock target into me this is about
3:46 am
donald trump working both as a candidate and now as president 2 chainz libel laws in this country to hold news organizations and publications responsible for what they report report. that's not easy to do carrie. >> yeah you can try but it's very tough. you have to prove in this case brian ross had a plot for the market to go down and anybody can sue anybody but i don't think this goes too far. we keep talking about this was an accident and this was a mistake. in this case was blatantly trying to get somebody in a bad way and that's the shame of it. he gives the good journalists and their plenty of them out there gives them back cover. hopefully abc gets a ride and it doesn't happen again and hopefully we can get some nonbiased up going. >> i want to make a point all of us appearing here on "cashin' in" we make mistakes so the light on the right, this is just
3:47 am
journalism. this is what goes on every day. he made a mistake and does that mean watergate isn't real? >> if you keep making mistakes over and over again there should be repercussions. >> this guy is in emmy award winner in edward r. moreau award winner. >> this is an just a figment of the imagination of the people on the right. it's reality. lauren: conveniently out the mistakes he makes tend to make conservatives and republicans mad. it seems like a bias. >> oh my gosh conspiracy theories. you guys. lauren: in abcs defense it took them a while but they did correct the senate to him a longer while -- but nonetheless coming up parents are going to have to face it that facebook is targeting children with a new app but should tech companies be going after your kids? we debate and you decide.

lauren: facebook launching a messaging app for children. allows kids under the age of 13 to interact with friends and family and even though the friends have to be approved by parents some critics are raising red flags like should the
3:52 am
company be targeting kids? we begin with rachel because you have eight children. what are your thoughts on this and letting kids between six and 12 years old on facebook? >> a lot of them are ready are but certainly facebook is couching this is another tool to help parents. let's be honest this is about getting kids addicted to social media cracker earlier and earlier. everything i can say is apparent i don't think social media is making our kids happier and it's not taking them better socialize. not improving family life. early studies are showing kids are going after the saturation of iphones in our culture are more suicidal and more depressed depressed. the bottom line is facebook can't reach our kids we need to be more mindful parents. this is about personal responsibility. don't leave it up to facebook.
3:53 am
lauren: rachel you stated that perfectly. wanted to play sound that was not too long ago from sean parker. >> they literally changes your relationship with society, with each other. it probably interferes with productivity in weird ways. god only knows what it's doing to our children's brains. lauren: gary one month ago the former president faced with basically said we knew what we were doing at the time that this was impacting children's brains yet they did it anyway and now they are doing it for younger people. >> look the horses left the brain and the train has left the station the cars up the garage. go into restaurants right now and see a family with two kids on ipads or iphones and 10 years from now the postures going to be like this in their thumbs are going to be stuck like this from all the texting they are doing now. it's a darn shame but it's the
3:54 am
shape of things to come. facebook is doing what a company should do get them in early so you keep them for the rest of their lives and unfortunately they will run into walls that affect them for the next 70 years. lauren: gary the young founder of facebook, they have families. can we have hope that they are not going to target our children and they are going to do this in the right way? >> i love the sentiment but i'm not sure i agree with it. we all want to blame facebook. all these big tech companies and everybody thinks they are horrible. what about general mills? what about these companies like kellogg said make the sugary cereals? why are we ticked off at them? he think we are jealous of all their success. lauren: are you jealous of their success juan? >> is the innovative nature of the 21st century but i will say i think picking up on why gary said when i go to dinner with my grandchildren i wish they paid more attention to pop
3:55 am
pop and not their devices. >> by the way look at facebook. to me facebook intended for people to communicate with their parents and these children to eat with their parents and friends but this looks like him market ploy. juan: silicon valley is evil and leaving you to break coming up someone here says congressional congressional -- will make sure the tax reform gets done by christmas.
3:56 am
3:57 am
3:58 am
lauren: welcome back. time for fox on the spot. >> my husband is a congressman from wisconsin i predict congressional spouses like me will be the ones to make sure the house and the senate mend their differences and get this tax bill done before christmas for our families. i've also officially renamed the tax bill operation save your
3:59 am
marriage. congress, get it done. lauren: all right, carrie. >> tax reform will get reform. his was going to happen california will get bailed out. they will allow you to deduct state income taxes and that's good news for some people but i think we will get it changed. lauren: juan. >> a big election in tuesday and the big loser the g.o.p.. even if roy moore the judge wins roy moore will be like around the neck of president trump in the republican party in terms of misconduct allegations. lauren: even if he wins he loses. gary wrap this up or us. >> the job market strong, the market is very strong people feeling wealthy. i expect goodson -- consumer spending. expect another 20% throughout 2018. lauren: i want to say thanks to our "cashin' in" koran to you for joining us for that will do
4:00 am
