lauren: another day of wild trading not just here in the u.s., but in asia. john from "the wall street journal" joins us now. good to see you. if something else going on in asia, china particularly are they taking their cue from us because it been chaotic on wall street lately. >> i think we are all taking a cue from you, even the markets which are now open in a bit down but they might be up if wall street does well, the futures for the u.s. point to a flat open, maybe slightly. it's all very volatile. some concerns about higher inflation on dogs. mostly what we've seen is a blowup of this short that i'm

volunteered against volatility in the u.s. that means so many investors when the volatility need to cover their losses by the end of the stock market hours like investors come in because they have to cover these losses. i think everyone's watching how this unfolds in what happens in the u.s. not a lot of time, but talk about the chinese yuan. it would permit two-year high and has tumbled against the dollar. does it have anything to do with the trade out of china? >> yes, the economic data were resolve the surplus in the previous month. there is concerns the chinese economy might not be as strong as it seems. also, the idea that maybe the chinese government could have these capital controls in place.
