the progressive movements within my own party, so, you know, it is a mentioned there was a centrist bill that i believe present bid john mccain and chris coons, democrat from delaware that provided path to citizenship and relief for daca dreamers as well as funding for border security and the wall, but it didn't do it in a timely fashion, a timely enough fashion for the white house and that's why they opposed. they were opposing it along with progressive group and what we have seen now is, you know, basically the senate coming up empty-handed with a variety of bills, frankly, that it's probably concern as well out of republicans that are concerned about voting for a bill that could be perceived as amnesty that why would they waste their political capital if they know that a bill like that is going to get vetoed, you know, by president trump and then, you know, frankly there's enough blame to go around because the house on both sides, your

freedom caucus and progressives that are not going to come together, where do we go from here, probably temporary thing. lauren: where do we go is a good question. you suggested the senate put it to rest but the house pick it up. what if we had a more narrow bill, we attach daca to the spending bill, that happened march 23rd, we have to address spending once again or let the supreme court take all this up because now we have heard from not one but two federal judges, they blocked the white house, the trump administration from winding down daca. >> well, on your first point, we attached daca to the spending bill. the answer is no. this should be a stand-alone bill, daca is important on a number of issues, on border security, on chain migration, on lottery and the daca people themselves, their status. this should not be an amendment to a spending bill and number two, the courts don't legislate in america, you can't punt to the supreme court and say, well, they'll decide for us, this is exactly what our founders said

lauren: 5:31 in the morning, friday the 16th of february, good morning, thank you for joining us, i'm lauren simonetti. cheryl: bitcoin? lauren: are they back in the stock market. lauren: what a tremendous week. you can see futures up about 70 points on the dow, investors this week have put the corrections that we saw last week in the rear-view mirror or have they? some analysts say we might be racing to record highs too fast. is it time to put on the brakes, we bring sean and edward of the american institute for economic research. hi, guys. >> hi, how are you? lauren: is this too good to be true, sean, is this rebound for real? we have been up this week by 5% for the most part. yesterday we finished at the highs of the session, that's a good sign? >> i think that's a good sign. we are still 5% of the all-time

high. we still have room to go before we race all the way back. i think the correction that we had was needed, we had almost two years uninterrupted without a correction. i think there was a couple of things that spooked the market, perhaps, threat of inflation and maybe rising rates. yesterday the day before with two bad prints having the market go up maybe sets that aside a little bit and i think that, you know, that maybe we are underestimating some of the problematic and there's a lot of structureed products and notes that had an issue and that forced program selling. i think a lot of that is out of the way and i still don't think the fundamentals are solid. lawyer raur in your view, edward, did anything change this week versus last week because inflation is certainly still here as is arguably a

strengthening economy? >> i think that we have obsession that they'll never be fluctuations in prices. lauren: i just want it to go up. >> in reality things will go up. we can see that time and time again. we are still 5% below an all-time high and we are recovering from that all-time high. lauren: edward, we are going into a long weekend, holiday weekend, do you think that changes anything for investors as they set up for today's session? >> i think this is a long-term trend that we have to be looking at. you could see this in every market. you could see it in stock markets. i don't want to get into crypto curbsy market, bitcoin, the amount of fluctuations are huge. we should expect this and it's not a surprise.

lauren: one of the factors supporting higher oil prices is the dollar. the dollar has been weak, we are looking at the worst weekly loss amid a fed that's incline to rise rates, that's unusual? >> there's obsession that we won't be able to finance our debt. our ten-year bond yield is higher than germany, uk and italy and when people are starting to look for places to put the fixed income, almost 3% on u.s. treasury, i think most people will choose that. and i think that's where the support for the dollar eventually comes from. as people outside the u.s. or inside by treasuries, are buying dollars and that should continue to support the dollar. lauren: in terms of the ten-year yield, edward as we wrap this up, when we kicked closer to 3%, the stock market got totally

spooked, are we looking at the spooky number being 4%? >> we've had such abnormal monetary policy over the years and eventually how long is this going to last and if we do see hidden inflation creeping up, i think that is the long run risk, they are always us leaving us guessing with the changes in who is in charge with the fed, we don't really know, that's my big problem with the federal reserve, it can change so drastically as you have changes in who's in charge? lauren: yeah, we have a fed that signals everything, maybe they shouldn't. edward, sean, have a good weekend. can he-- cheryl: i heard that somewhere. bitcoin surging above $10,000 for the first time many more than two weeks. lauren: i remember 20,000 in december. tracee carrasco making a

comeback. tracee: now below 10,000. did rise above $10,000 yesterday for the first time in over two weeks. now the digital currency has fallen 70% from its all-time peak-high hit in mid-december. a number of hacks on exchange. it was affected by wall street's recent swings going against the idea that bitcoin price moves are uncorrelated to other assets. lauren: more governments are starting to accept is a strong word but reald be to stick around. cheryl: or try to kill it. depends which government you're talking about. lauren: talk to me about cvs exceeding revenue expectations. tracee: doing well than expected, did beat wall street quarterly on profit yesterday as u.s. and international distributors license more of its show. cbs rose 11.5% with almost

its own messaging app that are spy ware enabled to help them hunt antigovernment protestors. apps available on apple and google play, meaning they are available to users everywhere. cheryl. cheryl: well, this year the flu has been more dangerous than usual. expected to kill as many 50,000 americans, part of the reason has to do with this year's vaccine, the centers for disease control says it's only 25% effective against the nastiest strain, worst recent study found that flu can increase the risk of a heart attack and as flu season still has weeks, well, months to go. for more we are joined by dr. campbell, doctor, good morning. >> good morning, thanks for having me. cheryl: i first want to ask you, the study comes from england journal of medicine and had a lot of people frightened about higher risk of heart attack because of the flu, can you explain why that is?

>> absolutely, this was a great study. it showed that if you had the flu or respiratory illness and we think that's probably because of the extra stress that a new-like illness or flu itself puts on the heart. it can really cause the release of stress hormones and can really put an extra workload on the heart and that in people who have underlying heart disease can be what tips you over and causes heart attack. >> there was a story this week of a 14-year-old girl, 14-year-old, healthy child that ended up dying of heart failure, heart attack but the beginnings of it was the flu and the respiratory problems that she was having. what can parents do, what should they be looking for, those signs? >> you know, one of the most important things is obviously get vaccinated, it's still not too late to get vaccinated. at home make sure you have good

hand hygiene and stay home if you're sick but what you should look for in teenager or child is if they become disoriented, not thinking clearly, if they have become confused and those are things that really should warn a trip to the emergency room and could be signs of life-threatening problem. cheryl: normally in other flu seasons the concern has been elderly, pregnant women and small children and this year turned this somewhat upside down. i want to ask you about pace mate. this is something that you actually developed to better help with heart conditions and monitor heart, correct? >> that's exactly right. you think about all the wearables, apple watches, face makers that are out there, they produce heck of a lot of data, we process the data and make the data readily available and what we have shown that every thousand patient that is we

lauren: so understatement to say it's been a wild week, couple of weeks for global markets. we want to see how european markets are doing on the final day of the week, we bring in craig from senior market analyst, what's going on? >> we are just seeing a bit of improvement in sentiment globally. we have seen in the u.s. as well and in asia also. we are in continued rebound from the lows. we saw some very sharp selling over the last couple of weeks. i still think that the rebound we have seen is weak particularly in europe which maybe a concern, may suggest that there's some anxiety so that more day that is we can put together like this, the more confidence will improve. but like say, it is just a rebound and i think when we hit 10% market on downside has potentially led some to believe that this is a correction and correction that's hopefully played out. cheryl: that would be nice to
