concerns that they may hike interest rates more aggressively than expected this year. lauren: let's take a look at exactly what the fed indicated that what was behind the market action with david nelson, chief strategist with delphi asset management. good morning, david. two questions. what was the message from the fed? hawkish come at dovish, what was their talent? we are so close to 3% interest rate. is that such a big deal? >> the fed came in up to forecast. it's important to find out the fed meetings relate to a minute before the market corrections have a blooming budget deficit and maybe that is part of the problem right now. the fact that interest rates are rising on the heels of inflation. this is where the correction started earlier in the month when we had the hot jobs number. lauren: jerome powell at ahead of the fed testifies before congress next week.

some changes that will help protect our schools the future. >> lindsey obviously we've got this history of school shootings. one of the children said he was born after columbine. he said i don't know a world where i can't go to school and not be safe. even marco rubio kind of went against that plea yesterday. he had children in florida asking him, can you ban assault rifles and weapons and he fought back. he's taking the opposite side of the president on this. >> i think part of it is a lot of people feel it getting in front of it means getting on those modifiers, the bump stocks and that's what allowed the weapons to be so terribly efficient when it's used to kill someone. looking at it legislatively, there's got to be a strategy involved in getting these guns less powerful. that bumps up increases coming ability to shoot come you take away that ability.

the crowds. i've got to ask you, what is the strategy for democrats going into the mid-term because you care rally against a tax plan that so many americans are liking. >> i have a lot of respect for nancy pelosi, but i don't think she's the best messenger to be delivering the message when we talk about the tax cut. the tax cut is funded based off of growing gdp and without the growth in gdp, this will blow a hole in an already growing deficit. democrats need to find a better messenger when it comes to talking about the middle class in economics. making sure people keep their light on them food in the refrigerator. lauren: so you agree they are distancing themselves and rightfully so for nancy pelosi, the she's out of touch with americans? >> i don't think democrats are distancing themselves from nancy pelosi, and that the comments absolutely. lauren: would this be good for republicans is for republicans as they go into the midterms?

where do you see happening? >> nancy pelosi is the gift that keeps on giving. she has done little to mobilize around base. she's failed to pay the solutions based path forward for her party and she's laughably out of touch with americans. you heard from the comments the average u.s. household gets a $1600 tax cut thanks to the recently passed tax bill and they're getting paid bumps and bonuses to the passages of corporate tax cuts. policy is out of touch, but the problem with the democratic party are they fail to lay out unifying policies, messages and uplifting solutions. it seems like they really didn't learn much from 2016 and they can do several self reflection because if they faced the midterms, they're in for a rude

awakening. >> we ran the scroll of the 377 companies that far who have done something for their workers because they are saving on corporate taxes. we are seeing high-profile democrats including the vice chair of the dnc ever, representative keith ellison say in the $1000 bonus will go a long way for so many of my constituents, for so many americans. this is a list of other dems distancing themselves. do you think a republican strategy which has been tried and proven to work in the past at times certain politicians at the lucy is going to work and republicans favor? >> i don't pay what democrats have in their favor is there is a big fever when it comes to unhappiness with the republican brand right now. we see that in republican districts are democrats are winning in states have never won before. we see it in purple districts as well. nancy pelosi brings to run issue to the table, but when it comes to a question of do we support of president trump in the other

been set in the volatility of things in the market. they been looking for deals. >> personally i don't think it's a great idea to book for deals. when you buy a strong stock is a high percentage it's going to rally them may be expensive. if you buy a strong stocks coming or going to make money versus buying weak stocks. one of the things that i think is very interested its amazon may bring new all-time highs yesterday. before the market selloff before the fed minutes and netflix almost did, too. i really don't believe the market is going to collapse again because you can't have really strong market leaders like that making new highs in the market collapsing because the market is made up of these stocks. >> i'm glad you brought up amazon. the s&p 500 clawback of easter tuesday night, 27% of the gains was amazon only. also, if you look at a company

like amazon, some people say it's overvalued, too expanded from expanding to match. you say we should really get the fundamentals of amazon for instance. >> i look at the technicals because tax refund just passed. a company like amazon will take advantage of that. who knows what they'll do in 2018. the skies the limit. when you see a stock like that hitting new highs right before the market has the fed minutes command that is a good sign for the stock and company itself. good earnings reports. google had earnings last quarter. even google rallied yesterday. microsoft is near the high again. all of these companies agree fundamentally and technically to be better strong, strong. cheryl: there is one more you mentioned and that is netflix. i remember when the stock was $4 a share. look at it now. netflix is another company to 81 and change.

>> that is one of my favorite watches right now. the reason is when the markets sold off that week, netflix had earnings right before gaps that big held. netflix held more bullish than any stock in the market the week that market fell. a huge sign that stock is going to take off like a rocket when the market makes the highs again. really quickly want to tell viewers if you're watching the market because we are down in the premarket this morning, i don't think it's a crazy panicky jacket and a fell yesterday in a close, but you want to look for the market whether it's the dow, s&p, you want to see where all of these indices will go over the the selloff day. >> we've got a run, but last week are best taken five years for stocks. it's not a day by day thing at this point. you have to look at it like a
