programs were enact. but she is not wrong. kennedy: republicans are no longer the party conservative fiscal steward. they are happy free spenders. and it's a dangerous combination increasing spending and lowering taxes. they have to get smart about that, and' they would be happy to cut the tax relief and cut spending. i don't trust they will cut military spending even when they say they are going to enhance entitlements. do you think voters will see through her ploy? and will democrats put her back in charge as house speak for they do get the majority in the fall? mollie: nancy pelosi broke an you can enviable poll. she is the least popular poll

but you can't go into the waffle house and order your hash browns with you shaved white truffles. >> the one thing that might stand in their way are these tax cuts. people realizing they are getting more money than they thought they were going to get. but she is going out saying these things. these are crumbs, she is unpatriotic. she can make an argument that she is worried about the deficit and the debt. but unpatriotic and crumbs is like trying to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. >> democrats could can victorious in the mid-terms. both side want their side to win. if democrats take back the

house, does she automatically become house speaker again? jessica: i would assume so, but i would think there would be a challenge again. the young democrats are running more moderate. in pennsylvania connor is running as a moderate and he distanced himself from nancy pelosi. kennedy: if she is that unpopular it can't just be new members of the hughes who oppose her. jessica: there was a political piece, what does the leader shurp look like? steny hoyer? who is not a spring chicken. jamie: they have been trying to challenge for for 15 years.

they tend to live father away from where they work. so they have to drive more. and they use mere gas. and they don't have teslas. dagen: who is going pay for it. if people who are driving teslas are not paying for it because they don't use gas. dagen: i take public transportation and they are using my tax dollars to fund the general revenue. kennedy: it doesn't mean it will automatically go to infrastructure. dagen: the highway trust fund is funded through the gas tax. so the highway trust fund and fixing our roads has been funded by general revenue. meaning the people who aren't using the roads are paying to fix them. i take the subway here and i'm

paying to fix potholes in missouri. it's insane. who is paying for it? not people using the roads? kennedy: you raise gas prices more people will drive electric cars. dagen: they have to find a way to tax electric cars more. kennedy: or find a way not to spend so much money. dagen: if people don't want to fix the road, stop bitching about the potholes. they don't want to pay. they want someone else to take care of their roads. jamie: a marketing campaign on why we should want potholes. kennedy: we need that passion and heat to continue.

officer and host of the buck sexton show. why is it taking so long for jared kushner's security clearance? why does he still have interim clearance. >> somebody who has a lot of international travel and business connections will take longer to investigate than some guy who grew up in montana, never left the state and joined the government in some capacity. that's the positive way to look at it. the other way is there could be some red flags that don't mean he won't get a clearance, but as somebody who went through the process there are some areas where they say we need to talk about this, meaning the people involved in the investigation process. they are tight lipped by the because it involves different branches of the federal government and a lot of raw information that comes in from different folks, ex-wife, former girlfriend and former

boyfriends. people that lived with you in college. kennedy: some of the past under views with agents, he lost his job because he was apparently beating his wife. >> you are talking about a huge number of people that are trying to get clearances. kennedy: would jared kushner have the highest level security clearance? >> i would assume so. but they don't necessarily tell us that. if he's handling the pdb, yes he would have to have the highest level. in kelly's statement he said we'll pull all the clearances. kennedy: read between the lines. >> the line in between unless i say it's important the person keep their clearance.

i think kelly is going to make that special exception that he left himself as an out if need be for kushner. kushner is with ivanka and the president of the united states. kennedy: would kelly be holding up the clearance? he probably would know if he needed to know. but now it's probably just a function of if you want to play chicken over power in the white house, we can do this. at the end of the day i think kelly is willing to lose this job or leave this job fit comes down to it. kennedy: does jared kushner want john kelly out of this role? he limited access to the president from everybody including his family members. are you hearing john kelly wants jared kushner out of the white snows. >> it's a fair estimation that

there is a struggle about who will be the alpha, the taupe dog between kelly and kushner. but that doesn't mean one wants the other to be gone. there has already been a husband cleaning of the white house. ivanka and jared based on the reporting, people they didn't want hanging around. if kelly gives a get out of jail -- dis. sayings on the clearance issue. maybe it's a come together moment. this whole thing seems to be a way of kelly saying one, all the critics of the rob porter thing piling on me, they need to watch themselves. also if you want to pile on, we can do this and i'll go all day. i think it's a come at me moment for a former three-star marine general. so i wouldn't want to come at

him. kennedy: last week's until school shooting is forcing us to ask difficult questions. should teachers carry guns in the classroom to protect students. alabama is proposing that. it require them to submit to mental health he valuations and training before being aloud carry guns in the schools. is this a good idea or does it create more liability. the party panel is back. i have mixed feeling about this. people talk about schools and gun-free zones as being soft targets. they are the softest targets. they point to the israeli model and say we have to harden the targets. i can't imagine that the

teachers that they have and granted i have only been in two public school systems, i can't see have many of those teachers wanting to arm themselves. what do you do? jessica: i think you have a conversation about school security that isn't arming the teachers. you have a conversation about security guard and you talk about sensible gun reform. but there is another element to this. we have such a hard time getting great teachers anyway for our public school system. if we added the elements they have to be an armed guard, even fewer would want to do it. kennedy: you would keep a lot of people out. but what if you do have teachers who want to undergo that training, the manhattan at health evaluation, the 40 hours of firearms training. jamie: i think it should be

optional. if you have former military teaching, it makes all the sense in the world that someone who is comfortable handling guns. there should be no state law saying you can't be a teacher if you are not willing to carry a gun. kennedy: or you could have school marshals. like you have air marshals on planes. you wouldn't know hot teachers are because they wouldn't be wearing security. dagen: tyrus said unemployed veterans who know how to use firearms. you think about it like the tsa. we nationalized airport security. kennedy: we don't arm the tsa. dagen: right. but you think about putting

veterans to work that way. this will be an interesting issue state by state. that's where you have seen gun regulations since the newtown shooting in connecticut. but i think asking teachers to protect the schools with weapons, that's a tall order. one thing school districts can do. one of my friend was unhappy with the way her kid were being educated, she ran for the school board. the first thing she did after parkland had checked to see that he school in her district had gone through the steps of the emergency response plan, and they are supposed to do that several times a year. jessica: i don't know how anyone can argue that there shouldn't

be mental health evaluations. but also this element of where are you going to put these weapons. the parents have to be notified if there are guns in the school. kennedy: the art teacher with her satchel or a bunch of bad kids. nikolas cruz part ii. they know where the weapons are and they break in. jamie: if you are not comfortable with guns you shouldn't have those people with guns. but there are ex--military who do teach and they are very comfortable with guns. who would not want their math teacher who happens to be a former marine who just happens to have a gun if someone comes in. kennedy: there are mixed feeling
