4:03 am
president trump in charlotte today paying last respects to the reverend billly graham. while across the nation his reaction to tariffs on steel and he aluminum are gathering steam. >> i'm very surprised. he had bad advice from somebody down there. these tariffs will hit america's citizens. we don't win by assessing tariffs that come back to bite us. reporter: the president tweeted trade wars are good and easy to win. the president insisting we must protect our country and our workers. our steel industry is in bad shape. if you don't have steel, you don't have a country. from ohio's democratic congresswoman, a big atta boy,

judicial watch. good to have you with us. let's start with just the idea that the fbi would have the guts to put out such a statement. and there isn't a reaction from congress. >> not only not a reaction from congress in should and reaction from the attorney general, who drects their activities. lou: i gave up on that a long time ago. >> you have good reason to do so. but you would think he would rights to the occasion given the president's rather severe criticism of him. and the white house chimes in. these guys are not some sovereign entity within the united states. they are trusted public servants. lou: if they are trusted by the public, the leadership of the public and the department of justice. there is no excuse for the american public to do so, and
4:09 am
every reason why we have to in my judgment as we discussed, we have got to get to the bottom of this. and what we are watching is an fbi that's not tomorrow corrupt, a doj that's not only corrupt, but we are watching organizations that are willing to stonewall the very oversight committees responsible for them, constitutionally responsible for them as you often remind me, and we are getting no response. is there nothing the president of the united states can do to change this? >> the president of the united states can do an awful lot. he can ask director sessions and christopher wray to go away. he can do that. but i encourage your colleagues in the media to camp out and
4:10 am
follow, ask questions, press director wray. i don't know if he's in a bunker. lou: i can tell you he's in a bunker. there is no question by the. and he's perfectly willing to lie to the american people, the president, the attorney general. if that's relevant in his job. and he simply says that the fbi is just fine. there is no corruption issue. everything is just hunky dory in the view of christopher wray. >> this is another exhibit in my call for the really the abolition, the dismemberment of the fbi. the u.s. marshal service served honorably for 75 years. and they have created an investigative arm.
4:11 am
agents can lateral over to the u.s. marshal service and we could do away with the fbi entirely. it would take 6 to 8 months. lou: it's an idea whose time may well have come given the level of corruption and disaffectionate the fbi and doj. >> something has got to change. lou: the critical intelligence committee deadline for i'm and brennan and clapper has come and has about gone. the deadline set by chairman devin nunes of the intelligence committee. now we are hearing from the staff of the intelligence committee they got some documents but certainly not all. we don't know if they got a little or a lot, and they have been given -- those three
4:12 am
stooges from the obama administration intel days have been given further time to meet the strict deadline of devin nunes. your reaction? >> this is another stall tactic to muddy the waters. those three guys know exactly what they said, did, heard, who they met with. lou: what do we do? what does congress do? >> nunes should go public with a clear declaration of who complied and who didn't. who is in contempt of congress. those people have to be pressed. we cannot allow the same routine double took you go on. we are at risk of a collapse in this regard. lou: we are at risk of a constitutional crisis. we are coming right back. there is a lot more to cover. stay with us.

president trump is the only president who has had the guts to take on the establishment and the elites and put america first. >> steel and aluminum will see a lot of good things happen. we'll see a lot of jobs popping you have and we'll have more vie brajtd companies. commerce secretary wilbur ross will be talking about the little daffodils who are afraid of a trade war. and the fbi stonewalling the search for answers about secret meetings between president trump and former fbi director james comey. yes, the deep state still rules the swamp. but fortunately president trump is changing all of that. is changing all of that. we

4:19 am

4:20 am
better off this country would be. lou: without question. and i'm sure, i'm absolutely certain that most of americans don't realize the united states of america hasn't run a trade surplus since 1975. and you have all of the corporatists and the u.s. multi-nationals as represented by the business rounds table in particular cluck and clacking about the president want to quie quit squandering this nation's wealth whether it's in foreign wars and middle eastern conflicts that go on without end or whether it's simply shipping millions of our jobs overseas and trade deficits cutting into the wealth of the nation as expressed by our gdp each year. >> absolutely. we should be exporting products
4:21 am
instead of exporting jobs which is what we have been doing for the last 44 years. it's terrible. lou: these tariffs, how soon do they go into place and what do you expect to be the response of our trading partners? >> they would go into effect very quickly once the president signs the document. he's announced that will be next week sometime. statutorily he must put them into effect within 15 days. i doubt he'll wait 15 days. lou: our trading partners, i mentioned germany. they have lived off this country and our trade deficit with germany for decades. and there has to be an accounting. there is an imbalance that is
4:22 am
staggering whether we are looking at the european union and its member countries or look at china and parts of asia. this is a time to address these issues. and we have companies like apple putting 700,000 jobs in china because of here because of labor costs. >> here is where i think people are missing. w what people are missing is that jobs are the issue. jobs are the purpose in strengthening america's economy. general mattis has been correct in saying strong economic economy here equals strong national defense. you cannot have strong national defense without a strong economy here.
4:23 am
and the tariffs -- lou: i think i should point out here too as we wrap up, mr. secretary, china produces often more steel than the rest of the world combined. and they are dumping that steel, they subsidize those industries. they are state run by any measure, reasonable measure. and dumping steel below cost in this economy dan others around the world. it is truly a crisis and china has known this country would have to react for a very long time. >> china reduced more steel in one month last year than we produced in the whole year. yet they aren't as large an economy as we are. that's part of the reason why they are exporting so much steel. it's a very similar story with

54 years until he joined a church closer to his home in north carolina. i knew billy graham. and it is no exaggeration to say that billy graham did more to spread the message of christianity than any machine in history since the apostle paul. many people are christians today because of billy graham. we think of the man who preached to presidents and the queen of england as we've seen on television but i found he was more interested in the common person. you know, whenever he would do an interview, he would do a mike check and instead of the one, two, three, four, if five, he would quote john 3 clng 16, forgod so loved the entire world that he gave his only begotten son. somebody asked him why do you do that. and he said because there may be an audio technician or a camera man who had not heard of jesus and i want to share the hope.
