impending failure of this administration every chance they get. i understand he's a guy you can't count out. but there are different kinds of departures. obviously someone like steve bannon was so tainted not only by the book, but he overstayed his welcome and alienated so many people and orchestrated so many leaks and made so many enemies, then you had gary cohn are philosophical differences from the president. then there is someone like hope hicks. and we don't understand the nature of her departure. >> we have no idea what behind her departure. she is a young lady who was new to this political game. she went from working for donald trump in a private sense to the media political glare. and people are trying to paint

the federal government ought to do its job and not blame california for its own inability to solve the problem beth whether it's crime or immigration. that's the job for this attorney general. he shouldn't come out to a political show. kennedy: law enforcement is not a zero sum game. it's not us or them. it's pretty much everybody. the party panel is back. glenn, i will start with you. i don't like either side of this issue. i think the federal government needs to shoirp their immigration policy and it's irresponsible to say law enforcement can't talk to i.c.e. about people who committed felonies who were going to be released with no repercussion. >> the state of california is saying for the cooperation to take place the feds need to go through the work process. same thing with companies. shouldn't be cooperating unless they are subpoenaed.

the government is saying we have the right constitutionally to preempt state law. but this is a states rights question as well. and law enforcement in many levels is local. kennedy: i love federalism. i also think immigrants add a lot to local and state economics. and if you are going to have a sanctuary policy, you are going to make more money, therefore you don't need federal funding. is that fair? >> the same argument about states rights could be made. kennedy: you have ideologically different aims but the same precedent that the doj is using to sue the state. >> i appreciate your libertarian view on immigration, i'm more moderate on immigration than a lot of conservatives. but we are a sovereign country

this a long time ago. california continues to release convicted felons on to u.s. soil. taxpayers fund welfare for illegal immigrants, food, medical, even cash assistance. kennedy: i don't have a problem ending the entitlement state. but immigrants also start businesses and work and commit crimes at lower rates than the native born population. i know people don't like that's statistic, but it's true. we need to have a serious conversation. if you are going to have a more some border you cannot have an open chest when it comes to the government. we'll see how this end up.
