united nations stay for a closed-door briefing on north korea. all of this as the president's decision to meet with kim jong un was not impulsive. cia director mike pompeo and stephen mnuchin say the administration has laid the groundwork with talks for kim by imposing tougher sanctions. the former u.s. ambassador to the u.n., john bolton telling maria bartiromo the leader is afraid the u.s. will use the military option. >> what has kim jong un the tension that has not had his attention or his fathers is the threat that we will use military force to destroy his nuclear weapons program. i think he scared to death a sad and scared death that donald trump means what he says. cheryl: meanwhile, pyongyang has been quiet since the announcement of the historic meeting. no official response regarding the position since it happened

administration said these are negotiable. they are using as wisely as a tactic to get better deals. to improve terms for the u.s. with all their trading partners. we have an indefinite exemption for canada and mexico which is important for canada is the biggest importer of steel for the u.s. so it's not china and that's important going forward from the perspective of negotiating trade deals, which is apparently what incentive is here. the markets are concerned about a trade war and quite frankly i'm not thinking that this is going to be something that takes down the global economy either in the sense that a trade war is not the most likely scenario especially if we talk about negotiating better trade deals. >> we are seeing a weird realignment of political affiliation. democratic massachusetts senator elizabeth warren aligning with

president trump and she likes these terrorists were so many republican lawmakers say this is a bad idea. trade wars never end well. where do you stand on this? >> will, just as more or less a libertarian, i would like no trade terriers whatsoever. if companies want to quote, unquote dump their products here come the fantastic. we get lower prices. they get pieces of paper with presidents on them. that the economy said. trump is coming at it surely is the surely is the populists come as a man of the people. having tariffs come as trade restrictions makes all the sense in the world. people want a fair marketplace and all that stuff and i applaud that because he's doing basically what he said. so i guess it really depends where you come down, what you want trump to be. do you want him to be an economist or a populist.

6:00 a.m. on the east coast. a jobs report sent stocks soaring on friday and it continues this morning. the dow in the s&p 500 above their 50 day moving average of 440-point, one in three quarters%. the nasdaq at an all-time high with a gain of 100%. the s&p as well. almost 50 points higher. features with a stronger indicator as the momentum continues this week. a couple of inflation report will be watching. dow industrials up 100-point at the open this morning. a third of a percent higher in two thirds of a percent higher this morning on the net that. markets were mostly higher as well except down a fraction. it is that the court of a percent, 10 points higher of two thirds of a percent 70 points
