cheryl: wall street is on inflation watch for the consumer

price index, cpi common retail retail sales are coming out today. stephen richey dough and chief economist and senior analyst opinion held. good morning. i just want to talk about yesterday we got cpi and it was kind of a mute number. if you look at the numbers come a .2% month over month for january february, consider what the economy is doing. that's a pretty tempted number. >> you 100% correct. the ppi number again this morning. what we are really looking at here is the reality that a falling dollar is not having as much of an impact as we had thought it could have on the inflation environment. that's only because the dollar kind of stabilized towards the end of last year and has been in a flat trading range since then. as you know daniel sierra the pressure on inflation. cheryl: we are looking of course that the market moving data

numbers. there's a really interesting piece in the journal about bitcoin and it's now become the new barometer for investor sentiment. cut in half a month before the global's selloff earlier this year. >> bitcoin look like that video also pushing the snow up. we see a rise in some sort of asset whether it is.com or revenge of bonds in the late 80s and more recently the housing market in the mid-2000. you can look at bitcoin the rest of the market as a speculative asset that lives in the late market cycles. cheryl: stephen, what do you make of that point? the reason there is interest in something like a crypto kurth is

because central banks have been defacing their currencies for years. starting with doj and its continued through the crisis. with the federal reserve and now the ecb were central banks have believed their balance sheets, basically financed the budget deficit for these regions all through printing money and that is defaced the value of the currency. under relative basis they've all been doing it so no one has been weaker than the other. for a while the u.s. dollar was benefiting at the leading edge of what was happening on the rebound in the economy. that is moved off to the second stage where europe and asia are doing better. cheryl: all of this is that the fed will have to look at. an accelerator do you celebrate. something else today, today is the tenure university of the collapse of bear stearns, the marriage if you will. this is the beginning of the

financial crisis. banks took on too much risk especially bear stearns or do you worry 10 years later we are in the same environment? i say this because there's a lot of hard moments in that the market is overheated. are we in that moment we are -- within a few years ago. >> i don't think it's the speculative assets as they were in 27, 2008. banks obviously have the leverage. i don't see the optimism and exuberance we have at the end of the last cycle. cheryl: the.com bubble and of course the financial crisis for yours worry when you see the markets go up and up. 10 years, $85 billion company going on. we appreciated stephen and ian. >> thanks for having me.

cheryl: here with reaction. everything you just heard is to strategist on the democratic side, republican strategist fort o'connell. good morning, guys. are you caffeinated? >> sbr, aren't we? >> always. cheryl: letter with you, boris. this is a crazy race in pennsylvania. what does this mean for democrats in november? >> they should be a serious wake-up call. they are in danger of losing the house. democrats are beyond fire up in the tax bill was not hypocritical in terms of resonating everywhere. my advice is very simple. get off your desk of mr. dialing for dollars to knock on doors because the midterms aren't going to be for the faint of heart. cheryl: are they feeling the republican strategy because it seemed to a work in pennsylvania. a moderate democrat who aligns with president trump on many issues is doing really well.

>> i wouldn't see that he aligns with donald trump as much as he ignored them in his he ignored a ministry spirit is focused on of the issues to granular detail in pennsylvania and that is what there is a lot of these voters were democrats haven't picked up seats in the past and focusing on the actual issues in the district, building a machine that hasn't existed for the democratic party for the past two or three cycles. it is amazing to see what conor lamb has pulled off in the district carried just 16 months ago. it's amazing, absolutely amazing. lauren: conor lamb totally distanced himself from nancy pelosi. what is the strategy is to go into midterm elections and is the rise of the conservative democrat who are republicans now have to try to defeat. >> i don't know that democrats will take this in terms of

strategy. in a lot of ways i agree with hamza. he was pro-franking, and basically shunned nancy pelosi. he didn't face any democratic challengers and he was straight out of central casting, while they look and sound like a help was kangaroo. >> that's funny. i just saw this coming on the circuit a second ago. washington county just finished up their absentee ballots and it looks like right now conor lamb is up by 62 votes. it does not look like saccone can come back from this. >> to your point, the message doesn't matter whether saccone wins over lamb wednesday. republicans are in trouble or they are at risk of losing the house. >> democrats are running a lot of strong candidates. it's important to point out in a

lot of cycles, pennsylvania 18 did not have a democrat running at all. >> there is no other democrat running this time either. they could blow a lot of seeds if they cannibalize their own in a lot of primaries. connerly and did not run against democratic opponent who would've drawn to more towards democrats. he's got a great strategy and they hope the democrats trip on themselves. if you take the redistricting in pennsylvania in the seats they could pick up in california come essentially halfway to the 24 seats they need to reach the house republicans redouble their efforts. >> only say this because the president majority today in a moderate democrat, senator claire mccaskill dared my being a tough election. she's going against republicans. >> were in far better shape of a particularly the industrial midwest. we could pick up missouri, indiana and west virginia. we will hold the senate. the house is a real question.

the puppy in its tsa compliant carrier in an overhead in. during the four-hour flight, the puppy died. it's unclear exactly why the flight attendant made the passenger put the puppy in carrier in the overhead bin, but this is just awful. united did issue a statement saying this is a tragic accident that should've never occurred as pets should never be placed in the overhead bin. we assume full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences and we are thoroughly investigating what occurred to prevent this from ever happening again. of course this comes as the rules have been tightened up on animals aboard planes. delta united, but this is outrageous. cheryl: i was a flight attendant for seven years. i wouldn't put somebody's pet turtle in an overhead in. are you going to put sure baby in an overhead then?

critical time for foreign relations. mike pompeo picked to replace tillerson and will be thrown right into the fire. negotiations over north korea's nuclear program as well as what to do with the iran nuclear deal. for magnus, fox news foreign policy analyst skynyrd. good morning. >> good morning. all of this comes at a time might pompeo spock and his two big issues. the calendar site to get the confirmation. first the issue of north korea appeared very hawkish about north korea, more in line with the president. the tough talk is the way to go with kim jong someday. how do you see this playing out? >> the president needs a partner in the national security leadership team that sees the north korea problem the way that he does. i think that was one of the reasons that rex tillerson was asked to step down. he wanted a different sequencing

of dialogue with north korea. the president's closer to dialogue denny's been in the past year, but he wanted the maximum pressure strategy to take hold. that is something that might pompeo have supported. so i believe that pompeo secretary of state would provide the kind of substance and context to the instincts of the president have fun going into a meeting. with the north korean leader. cheryl: the president did say we are always on the same wavelength and that makes sense. mike pompeo is just on "fox news sunday." i want you to listen to what he said with regard to negotiation. >> president trump has been doing this for theater. he is going to solve the problem and so the location of the meeting will determine and figure it out. what is most important is what is discussed in the clarity and

strength and resolve of this president and administration to achieve the outcome americans so desperately deserve. cheryl: you hear him saying this is not some kind of snap meeting that will solve any issue. i thought i was interest in. with regards to iran, pompeo has been quoted as saying he doesn't believe in the iran nuclear deal. these are two major issues. >> absolutely. on the iran issue, the president again has not had a senior member of the national security team to make a really strong case for pulling out of the iranian nuclear deal. it doesn't mean that will ultimately happen. but the others on the team and they are excellent statesmen and policymakers, but their price push them in the direction it came with the iranian nuclear deal. the president is credible arguments on all five and i believe mike pompeo will provide
