gerri: what do you see happening? are they likely to come back to the table? >> i absolutely think so. what president trump did yesterday will begin the process of having a counter proliferation agreement with the iranians that make sense, that's consistent with facts on the ground, rooted in the right assumption and argument and not have been believed that iran after nearly 15 years of negotiations and attempts to address its nuclear program led to a deal that could make sense for western and really arab world security. >> but is the bigger threat you're that iran may resume its nuclear program? >> it could happen, but it may view it is somewhat unlikely because iran just noted it so isolated in the world community

as steve mnuchin put it. they can't take more of that. it was so willing to engage in negotiations just to get sanctions relief to have western businesses reenter the country. it has got to be careful about going further into isolation. they arab countries which no one is talking about, and many of them were really pleased that the president's decision yesterday. true to what is interesting here come the europeans are saying it isn't over yet because the u.s. pulls out. how does that change the impact on iran if europe stays put? >> if europe stays put, perhaps there's still some economic relief, that the united states is a major player in what happens with iran. they have to face the united states. there will be a dialogue separately about how u.s. sanctions may in fact have an

impact on the european companies. that can't be ignored. we need some time for this to play out, but it's not an easy deal for europeans to say we will ignore what americans are doing to proceed with the iranian regime. >> just quickly, you have to ask you about this. the president seems to be suggesting that people in iran should overthrow the government. this seems to be destabilizing the government quickly. is that his goal here to really put the pressure on the iranian government? >> it is. and please do mention the point because in his statement he had very harsh words for the iranian regime. but he separated the regime from the people and he talked about their proud heritage, the persian culture and restoring them to the community a free state in the world. i think he wants to separate the regime from all of the iranians who want to work with the west.

gerri: looking at big gains in the premarket watch and exxonmobil, chevron, all of this good for shareholders. but what does this mean for the economy on the other side of that? >> last year energy stocks are one of two sectors down in a positive year and a five-year number of energy stocks to view the back os five years is the worst performing her. we kind of were overdue and ready for some kind of catalyst to cause a rebound in energy prices and energy stocks for investing. i think you see that now. we can get up to the high 70s but beyond that it can fundamentally support the current level. cheryl: i don't know. really quick, look what is happening with venezuela. the collapse happening there, they've got the largest oil reserves in the world. is not a factor, too? >> oppresses get to the high 70s and 80s, producers will come online in u.k. downward pressure on prices. prices can go up, energy stocks
