this amazing turnaround. an incredible effort over the weekend to see the u.s. summit with north korea as the white house pulled back on sanctions. we were expecting big sanctions this week. that is on hold. a flurry of activity including gerri: dimness. the united states team has arrived in north korea to make arrangements for the summit between kim jong un and myself. i truly believe north korea will be a great economic and financial nation. one day, kim jong un agrees with me, it will happen. good meaningful talks take place? >> i hope that they take place. this is certainly a positive development. june 12th is two weeks away and it's really difficult to put all the pieces in place for this monumental summit in such a short period of time, but they worked over the weekend. now there's a team from both countries in singapore. north korean officials may be visiting the united states this week to talk about finalizing

the details. looks like this might happen. gerri: people in the grand singapore, north korea, you name it. will we get a nuclear station? that is the big question is what the president has in pushing for. frankly we've had some pushback on it. can the ultimate goal be realized? >> there's a few issues here. one is that we take years as i've estimated 15 years for the process to take place involving north korea. the larger issue for the united states is what are they going to ask for in return? will they ask for the united states demilitarization from the region in southeast asia? that is something we would not be willing to go along what you would've up to 20,000 troops the united states has in south korea, and the base in japan. with north korea as the united states for in return is really going to determine how well the senate goes. cheryl: apparently there aren't enough weapons errs to really

look for weapons and north korea. let's get to the political question, which is can a breakthrough make a difference in the midterm? democrats plotting for the blue wave. could this make it more difficult to reset majorities in congress? >> there is no question that most of the democratic party's come of people the mid-terms are probably not going to change their view based on the outcome of this summit, especially the president has another end zone dance and starts talking about the nobel peace prize. however, in the swing districts that could go either way across the country, those are districts were something like this could have a positive impact for republicans. if the president can show progress and people are comfortable that there has been a dramatic change in our foreign affairs position with north korea, that would be safer. >> it would be historic if it happened. he's got a think there would be positive implications for the

i want to talk about the jobs issue in a second, but first the selloff we look at right now. the premarket down more than 200 points a few moments ago. we are kind of coming back a little bit. a lot of pressure. down 193 right now in the premarket for the dow. what do you make of this? >> a lot to do with the uncertainty out of italy. an elected populist movement there being suppressed by the entrenched bureaucrats and how that impacts the relationship with the euro zone. markets don't like uncertainty. italy is a huge issue are dead. just more of a pause because there's global uncertainty. >> the largest economy in the euro zone and pressure on them to break away from the euro zone and that is that these factions want. you've got another brexit story in your hands. the jobs report coming up on friday. 3.9% unemployment rate now. we haven't seen these levels

since 2000. wage pressure we had not seen the wage increases that we would really need to see to really see this as a success. >> there's been subtle wage pressure and we had almost a decade of stagnant wage and i moved them into the 2.5% wage increase is a really good number. it's enough to put money in the consumer's pockets and drive the u.s. economy. but it's not matured enough to put aside on the brakes by ratcheting upgrade. look at the 2.5, 2.6 wage increase up to good number for everybody involved. >> wage pressure as they can be a negative force. but maybe this will change on friday. but i can see that number as well as the unemployment excuse me, so his participation rate. let's talk about the fed. the meeting is next month. the expert patient is we'll probably get another rate hike. but the far right that investors continue to be rattled about.
