the united states out of the world trade organization. he told maria bartiromo that he's eyeing tariffs on automobiles next. the e.u. warned the car tariffs would lead to retaliatory taxes on u.s. exports. how will the trade war help the economy? is this the worst idea in the world to talk about pulling out of the wto and also slapping tariffs on those german cars? >> one of the magical things about donald trump. regardless of what you think this motives are. the fact that he says things any other president wouldn't say is what seems to grease the wheels of negotiation. maybe we'll pull out of the wto. we get reactions we have never seen before. he's changing the rules and stepping from step a to d.

what do we get out of the wto besides trashing seattle. so i think that is how you get movement out of mexico, out of the european union, out of china, is telling them, there may be an incredibly unpredictable guy in the white house. >> you get a $500 billion deficit out of the wto. trade deficit. kennedy: i don't buy the trade deficit. >> i get where you are coming from. i think it disenfranchise us to pull out of the wto. we have been having a deficit since 1975 when it comes to trade in this country. kennedy: gerald ford was president. >> 1975 to even some of the years where it was particularly good. we had issues. with that being the case, something needs to change.

's methodical and thoughtful. he seeks outside counsel. what is it about picking supreme court justices that brings out such a different side of him? >> he's watching it. >> this is amazing. i do believe that one of the things about the supreme court justice pick, especially considering the previous one is one of the things conservatives rallied around. this was one of the calling cards people said you have to vote for president trump regardless of what if you don't like what he says on twitter. he feels a duty to the party. kennedy: that's a good point. maybe that's why he approaches

>> there are three things putin hates. the united states and nato. so anything that weakens the united states, putin loves that. anything that weakens nato, putin loves that. the russians meddled in the brexit vote. so putin doesn't like the e.u. if i were counseling the president, and i think this president is difficult to counsel. he may listen to people, but at the end of the day i don't know how well read he is on foreign policy in particular. when the obama administration's motto was don't do stupid k blank. i think this just breaks stuff. and different. kennedy: let me ask you this. you have said that you would challenge the president if he runs unopposed in his own party. do you stand by that in the. >> no. i have lost all faith,

confidence and interest in republican party. there is no way i could primary donald trump because i would have to declare as a republican. that was the height of fatigue and disappointment who was told for years if the republicans could get congress, things would change. and then they pass a $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill. the republican party only talks about fiscal responsibility and discipline when they are out of party. when they are in the minority. if the libertarians will have me, i am with them 100%. kennedy: that's interesting. we'll see where your political future goes from here.
