leaders in a start to the brussels summit. president trump: many countries owe us a tremendous amount of money for many years back, where they're delinquent as far as i'm concerned because the united states has had them, so if you go back 10 or 20 years you just add it all up it's massive amounts of money is owed. the united states has paid and stepped up like nobody. this has gone on for decades by the way. this has gone on for many presidents but no other president brought it up like i bring it up. we're protecting germany. we're protecting france. we're protecting all of these countries, and numerous countries go out and make a pipeline deal with russia. you tell me if that's appropriate, because i think it's not and i think it's a very bad thing for nato and i don't think it should have happened. liz: the president referring to germany there let's get the record here. u.s. spent $650 billion, or 72% of nato's $900 billion budget. the nato secretary general today
5:03 pm
agreeing with president trump that nato must pay more, saying to the president this morning that nato allies will add an additional $266 billion in extra defense spending from now until 2024. let's bring in european parliament member and look whose near nigel great to see you. >> thank you. liz: what do you think of the critics in the media blasting president trump for insulting nato allies, your reaction? >> just extraordinary. look it's very simple. nato is a club, a mutual corporation between countries where they will defend each other and there are big countries in it like america and very small countries in it. there are 29 members and only five members of the 29 are currently paying the 2% membership fee to this club. what effectively has been happening is european countries have been free loading off the american taxpayer.
5:04 pm
i absolutely agree with president trump on this and i'm just disappointed that theresa may and we are paying 2% just about, but i'm disappointed that theresa may didn't speak up more strongly in favor of what he was saying. america is not walking away from its obligations. america is not about to turn his back on its traditional allies and friends. the point is the rest of europe are frankly just not playing the game. liz: yeah, the president is essentially saying the u.s. taxpayers is the one who should be insulted because the one about the free loading. russia and you said this, russia appears to be more of a threat today than since the colder war and nato members are degreed back in 2014 four years ago to hit that 2% goal. president obama also said the same thing what trump is saying today. let's take a listen. >> going forward every nato member state must step up and carry its share of the burden,
5:05 pm
by showing the political will to invest in our collective defense and by developing the capabilities to serve as a source of international peace and security. liz: obama said that again in 2016 your reaction? >> obama was a career politician who said things, sometimes the right things, but never ever had the will to follow through. the very big difference with president trump is that he's a businessman, whose come into politics. he understands what transactions are. he understands what a handshake means. he gets what is a fair good deal , and europe if they go on pursuing this crazy idea of building their own european army , spending no more than 1% of their defense every year, they will lose american support and the left wing critics will say that america is with the freedom of europe but actually it's the political ambitions of brussels that are deliberately
5:06 pm
driving these contributions down and this is the point that nobody seems to get or understand. the commission president, a few months ago when he said our european army only needs 1% per year so there is a political dynamic here with his anti- american that wants to get rid of america and european citizens need to wake up to what's going on. liz: you know to your point again let's recap the numbers. the u.s. share of nato spending is more than 72%, 650 billion out of $900 billion in nato spending. to your point, germany took in the migrants from overseas. there's big socialistic welfare spending on an early retirement scheme, free education, healthcare for all. that's on the backs of the u.s. taxpayer, right, nigel? >> yes, it is free loading. i make the point again because that's what it is. they're not prepared to pay the
5:07 pm
2% but there is also the say this political agenda in brussels within the global european union and they would actually like in some ways to drive america away from europe, but once european citizens, once voters wake up to what's going on here, they will take a very different view. liz: nigel, i like your reaction to the president criticizing germany over its tiny defense spending at the nato summit relative to what the u.s. spends let's watch. president trump: germany is a rich country. they talk about they are going to increase it a tiny bit by 2030. well they could increase it immediately tomorrow and have no problem. i don't think it's fair to the united states, so we're going to have to do something because we're not going to put up with it. we can't put up with it and it's inappropriate. liz: is this effective because germany's economy is twice the size of russia but russia spends twice as much on defense. is what the president doing or
5:08 pm
his comments rhetoric is it effective? >> look, germany is spending 1.2% of its gdp on defense. it is not playing the game even when it does engage in nato, it generally refuses to allow its troops to be used in frontline missions and yet, it seems to think that american support will be there forever. there are still today 60,000 american troops there, on german soil, defending their liberty and it's about time they woke up to the reality. look i'm british. i'm british but i do think nato 's important and i genuinely believe that on this, president trump is 100% right. liz: i like your analysis on how the media reacted to how the president handled the nato meeting today. let's listen. >> attacks on our nato allies, could he want to have it fall apart? >> frankly it's just infuriat ing to watch this

happen. you can't imagine any american president all the way back 75 years deciding to become the critic in chief of nato, and he's making our friends out to be our enemies and he's treating our enemies like putin as our friends. >> donald trump is the most vivd manifestation of the least attractive characteristics in the national character. liz: your thoughts here? >> yeah, i mean, these are the people who of course thought obama was some sort of second coming of the lord and none of them criticized obama when twice , he said nato members need to pay their fair share, because when obama said stuff, he didn't mean it. i want people to get real too is when trump says stuff he does and i genuinely think that there's now a huge section of mainstream media who are cover ing trump's presidency without any objective at all.

liz: you know, nigel, this is quite the 180 from president obama's 2009 apology tour. let's listen to this. watch. >> there have been times where america has shown aerogance and been dismissive. the united states is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history. we've at times become disengaged and at times we've sought to dictate our terms. we have to acknowledge potentially we've made some mistakes. liz: what happens when a u.s. president apologizes for the u.s.? what happens when the u.s. appears weak? >> i tell you what. i tell you what president obama. go to omaha beach in normandy, all right? go to that cemetery and go to those 10,000 u.s. servicemen that died coming to help the british and the canadians free europe from tie t

5:13 pm
>> did you personally approve this blimp, the president of the united states, in a topless to fly? did you personally approve it? >> no, but i support the decision. >> was it your responsibility? liz: so the point is he did green light it. he's allowing that blimp to fly over parliament. your reaction to the mayor here? >> okay, just consider this. can you imagine if when president obama came here in 2016 to interfere in our referendum to tell us that your best allie in the world would be at the back of the line if we dare to vote for the european union? can you imagine? liz: you mean for brexit? >> over brexit. liz: yes. >> can you imagine if i'd applied for one of those blimp balloons to fly over london with obama dressed up, do you think i'd got permission for it? well, hey, we all know the answer and i think the mayor

5:21 pm
this is for sacha barron's new show on cbs showtime, coming up in a week or so. what's your reaction to what she did here? >> well listen, i think that sarah palin as a former governor she can take care of herself and quite honestly someone on her team must have dropped the ball with this interview request so with that being said, you know we have a stole an about of 201e medals, honors and basically the stories of the heros in this country and use them to benefit yourself in a tangible way so at this point if this interview is used on showtime, i think there's a case that any dollar made off of advertisement violates that act. i'm not one pursuing everyone at will or to get upset and be offended every time something happens that you don't like but i think there's a pretty stiff line in this country when it comes to men and women who have given nearly their lives for this country to basically to be mimicked in this way, and quite honestly it's just tasteless and

disgusting for me. liz: sargent, sacha cohen the question is it even relevant any more. he hasn't been on the radar screen since but what was your feeling when you saw that he dressed up as a war veteran to play basically prank sarah pale en? >> well for lack of a better term, he's an entertainer, you know her performs for us and hopefully to our enjoyment. i was in the movie lincoln with daniel day lewis and i saw the careful and meticulous process they went through to use war amputees as amputees in that film. their effort to get everything right, out of respect for us, was shown every single day on that big budget film and these are the most awarded in their profession and to have someone like him who calls himself entertainer, actor, whatever you want to call it to have complete disregard and disrespect for anything any of us have gone through listen i think at the end of the day, it'll prove in ratings people don't care for this and they don't like it if

it truly is to outsider s the press included. going to show you some video here is me speaking with the ce ceo of spotify they were coming out of the morning session and i was asking him, oh, you don't have that video? okay well it was basically just chatting with the ceo of spotify just trying to find out what he found was the most interesting as far as topic and conversation s and i think the attendees are really almost very press shy for lack of a better term, even the mades in the cabin, liz have to sign nda's so that if they hear details they can't share them. back to you. liz: wow, great reporting i know you got your track shoes on running after these moguls. great reporting. >> thank you. liz: coming up a presidential tweet pushed a major drug company to hold off just for now on hiking its plan, it wanted to raise drug prices we're bringing on dr. marc siegel he's saying it's about time this is happening but first new york

socialistic congressional candidate alexandria cortez now announced the winner of a district she wasn't even running in. my next guest is taking her on with her policies saying they're off the wall, coming up after the break. tions like united way, non-profits like the american red cross, and our nation's veterans. we knew helping our communities was important then. and we know it's even more important today. so we're stepping up to volunteer more and donate over a million dollars every day. so our communities can be even stronger. it's a new day at wells fargo. but it's a lot like our first day.

so get an allstate agent, and be better protected from mayhem. like me. can a ring bearer get a snack around here? >> and includes abolishing i.c.e. medicare for all, guarantee of a job for people who want one, free college tuition. do you think even your democratic colleagues will support that platform? >> there are plenty who have already hopped on board there is already legislation on the floor of congress regarding the abolishment of i.c.e. i do think that a lot of this legislation points to the america that we want to have and i think that there's a willingness to work on these issues and get closer to that point. liz: that's new york socialistic congressional candidate alexandria cortez. she has another surprise election win this time in a district she was not even running in. this as democrats are increasingly campaigning on big government jobs programs things like guaranteed income, guaranteed jobs, paid for by federal taxpayers but all of
5:48 pm
this is rendered irrelevant as the jobs market is roaring and a record number of americans voluntarily quitting their jobs because they can find another job that's even better. let's bring in turning point usa founder charlie kirk. charlie what's your reaction to all of this? >> well you know this is something you and i have talked about over the years and i'm trying to warn older americans. look there is a socialistic under current growing in this country starting on college campuses. the idea of social socialism is being grows tied in fact glamour ized to young people and at turning point usa but socialism is not about helping the poor. it's about hating the rich. it's about trying to destroy those that have accomplished to try to redistribute to those that believe they are victims even though socialism has never worked over the last 100 years despite 100 experiments, you see hundreds of civilizations ruined not to mention 100 million people that have lost their lives under this disastrous
5:49 pm
ideology but the bottom point is this. we're seeing prosperity that ensues when you have low tax, low regulation, free enterprise values under this president and she's trying to create a different society around re distributed policies that will destroy the backbone of america. liz: to your point, charlie you make an excellent point. i don't think these socialistic candidates, bernie sanders and alexandria cortez know what it's even like to live under socialistic regimes because do you know what happens? it's at the point of a gun. the military takes over the economy. the military runs the economy and they jail people. but isn't this her policies are made irrelevant by the roaring jobs market right? >> without a doubt and you see the success of this president has been able to accomplish. it's remarkable. we have more jobs opened than people actually want to fill those jobs and she's trying to be the spokesperson for the next generation. she's in her 20s, i'm in my 20s, i would love the opportunity to debate her on these ideas. look now is the greatest time to be a young person in america. we have a booming economy, wages are going up, taxes are down. you can take risk and know that
5:50 pm
it's probably going to pay off and even if it doesn't you can pull yourself up by the bootstraps and take another risk only in america is that possible and she has a much more pessamistic view of america. i'm not really sure what she's viewing. she almost sees, she has a sinister view of success. i think that's really important and so we need to get the message out for our generation. liz: and she's, the facts are wrong in her argument. charlie kirk great to see you sir we love having you on please come back there. >> thanks. liz: a presidential tweet making a big drug company hold off for now on hiking its drug prices and look whose here, dr. marc siegel. he's fired up he says do you know what? it is about time, more after the break. stay here.

5:54 pm
fox. here is what's going on. comcast just in creased its cash offer for the 61% of sky that fox does not own. fox originally offered basically a slug price at values of sky of rather the whole sky assets at $32 billion and the comcast deal would value the sky network at $34 billion. again, fox owns 39% of sky. this is for the remaining 61% of sky that fox doesn't own. we've got a bidding fight going on right now between comcast and fox for the remaining assets of sky. next up a presidential tweet making a major drug company pause in its tracks. drug company pfizer agreed just for now to temporarily postpone its scheduled drug price hikes. they could come still at the end of the year, they're postponing them for now here is the president saying just talked with the pfizer ceo and the hhs secretary on drug price
5:55 pm
blueprint. pfizer is rolling back price hikes, american patients won't have to pay more. we applaud pfizer for this let's bring in dr. marc siegel on this story. what was your reaction when you heard this? >> well first i was glad to see a presidential tweet with all of the criticism of it, here it is has a major impact on a drug company whose is shaking his finger at saying look you're only supposed to raise prices at once per year under the new idea less than 10%. this was more than 40 drugs and liz if i tell you the names you'll say i know these. they've been around forever so pfizer can't say -- liz: like what drugs. >> research and development when it comes to xanax and a blood pressure drug they made their money a million times over on these drugs just trying to employee extend their profit margin and list prices aren't the real prices, yeah, except if you're the consumer, liz because the middleman sucks out the profit, the rebate. liz: that's a good point. >> but the consumer ends up
5:56 pm
stuck with the co-pay going up. liz: you're talking about the express scripts middlethan guy? >> yeah. liz: here is the thing the president is getting hammered for using "fascist techniques" and hillary clinton and bernie sanders though wanted to do big government tactics to lower drug prices. is it right to go after the president saying do you know what? you should not be slapping around companies like this. >> no, it's not right because again, he's got an impact here. he wants to set a standard and in his released information in may he said here is what i'm going to do. i'm going to get more drug approvals. i want more generics approved. fda is working on the drug dashboard price transparencies and i want the rebate to go to the consumer, to the patient. so he has every right to shake his finger at the drug company. liz: we wish we had more time with you doc, you're fired up. let's talk some more, you're going to come up again in the show president trump heading to the uk tomorrow protesters now lining up in london, more after the break.
6:00 pm
liz: president trump headed to the u.k. tomorrow. we'll be on that story for you. thank you for having us in your home. thank you for watching. "making money" is up next. charles: i'm charles payne. markets stumbled as they couldn't overcome the timeline now for the next $200 billion on tariffs on china. there is a new swing voter in this country. wait until you find out who that group is. president trump's week long foreign trip continues as he plans to head to england in it midst of the brexit turmoil. it was a tense start to the nato summit. this is president trump who verbally sparred with various leaders, most of notab
