excitement and energy across the entire state. so we are energized going into the election. lou: what is the biggest issue tennesseans are thinking about from your perspective? >> immigration has been a top issue for us in the state. i have worked with president trump and vice president pence to make sure we do all we can to protect our borders coming into our country. but it's incumbent upon me as the next governor to make sure our borders in the state of tennessee are secure and we don't have sanctuary cities. that's a big concern of the people in tennessee. and they want to make sure we don't give in-state tuition to our illegal immigrants. that's one of the biggest issues near the state of tennessee. lou: tennessee is sharing in what has been a remarkable

turnaround. this country is booming. low unemployment. rising economic growth. we are at 4.1% for the second quarter and headed higher, it appears. this is the best of times for many americans. how about in tennessee and how bright are the prospects for republican candidates? >> well, i'm very excited about the fact we were able to work together with vice president pence and also president trump to make sure we got the tax cuts and jobs act passed. we have seen what that has done. being in the middle of that as the budget chairman was really quite taken honor. there are more jobs open than there are people to fill them. the economy is booming. we are a state that doesn't have a state income tax. people moving here at 100 people a day. tennessee is a booming area and we want to keep it that way.

as someone who believes we keep taxes low, allow people keep more money in their pockets, that will only make it better and better for nuts state of tennessee. lou: the president telling the attorney general robert mueller he should end the with it hunt. hugh do you feel about shutting down the special counsel and firing bob mule per after two years of investigation that turned up nothing. >> that's exactly right. it has turned up nothing. the collusion is not there. nothing has been shown. we are wasting taxpayer dollars. let's spend our time on something we know is important like growing the economy and border control and building the wall. let's spend or time on things that make a difference. i think it needs to end today.
