someone because of their political views, really? >> there's a sick obsession in their recent, since the election to want to make this into a situation that is so outrageous, so disrespectful of people, americans over what is really just a set of elites and frankly it has become so tribal and there is such conflict in such controversy that the america that we used to know it's just fading. we have got to get it back and it requires people on the left that are acting out of this level to get a check to a degree so they are respectful of others' beliefs irrespective of the fact that it may not be in line with what you wanted a person is in power may not be the man that you want, that you should still respect those who

>> moral victory for the democrats. >> i don't know of it's a moral victory. >> moral victory. >> moral victory. >> moral victory. liz: the new republican ad taking aim at the democrats moral victory. >> in the media. reaction from the pending official results of the ohio special election. too close to call this race. should getting troy balderson against danny o'connor. let's get right to the panel. stephanie, moral victory. what's your take? >> they can call it what they want to call it but all the people that were predicting this race by what he acclaimed win for the democrats. they were surprised it was so close so they have to come up with something. now it's a moral victory. the race is still going and they are still counting the most
5:55 pm
likely the democrats aren't going to pull a win. liz: the present one that district by 11 points in the election but what is your take on it being called a moral victory? >> well i think that they were trying to lie but the fact should be concerning to democrats and like the fact that they have a wave. i didn't see evidence for strong enough way that's going to supersede what they are going to need to win in november could i mean frankly i think a lot of republicans need to show off because it really didn't matter. what really mattered was and what matters is november so the people that showed up for the democrats and people are talking about that but a lot of republicans said it didn't mean anything. what really matters is november and that's when republicans show up and i think there's a challenge for the democrats are not as together and not as strong. they want to believe that they are, they are looking for hope
5:56 pm
but the evidence doesn't suggest is strong enough that it could in a niche -- interesting november. that's led to say. liz: it's interesting the only president going back to dwight d eisenhower who saw his approval ratings go down and consumer confidence go up was barack obama. it's striking it's so going on right now under this president. >> the president is doing a very good job. the economy is strong and people are getting jobs. a lot of people had reason to vote republican in the election. this is an indicator. i'm expecting a red wave. i don't see a blue wave but this is good news for republicans although i will say republicans should not fall asleep and they should realize the fact that this was so close. liz: we are at a time. stephanie merritt a great weekend. we will have more after the break. stay there.
