afterall. the news comes a bit over two weeks after musk sending shock waves through wall street when he tweeted that he was considering taking his company private in would have beenest buyout ever and group president and fox news contradict tore gary b. smyth joins us now. gary, why the change of heart for musk in your opinion? >> well, i think it was a number of things, one, first of all there's a very good background story in "the wall street journal" this morning that everyone should take a look at. but the basic premise is that maybe this wasn't well thought through. first of all when he said he had funding secured, he really didn't. he had the board had to scramble, he had talk with the saudis they were thinking about bringing in another autocompany like volkswagen that trump -- not trump -- i'll get to that musk wasn't happy with. he thought he would be kind of getting rid of the grassroots support that he had.

he, obviously, be on to even more scrutiny because the big hedge funds and whoever invested it would want tighter rain and i thought at the end he said you know what it's not a good idea. >> i don't mean to be crude here gary but do you think he's sane? >> that gets me to my -- you know what i said about trump more about slipping the the tongue. it is very difficult to know is this some part of a master scheme you know when he talks kind of off the rails so -- you know is he really fit to be ceo i don't think he's insane but by all accomplish ms he's brilliant. the question is should he be ceo of a public company? look a public company can have any ceo it wants. is he doing the best job for its shareholders, though? this kind of unpredictability trying this, sell ising flame throwers, making tunnels, i'm not sure it is a shareholder

that's the person i want as a ceo. much like i'm glad or facebook must be glad that cheryl sangdburg is there as ceo to kind of reign over mark zuckerberg more wild tendency. >> now that tesla face public i'm not sure how informs tore feel about that in the premarket gary. tesla shares are now down 4.4% as i speak. going private had its challenges challenges -- i would imagine staying public has its challenges too. how do you keep investors loyal and confident and you have fec investigations? >> well the fec investigations is one thing. i think probably end up getting slap on the my take is that will be nothing but bigger issue is what you allude to how to keep share hold terse happy. only way to do that is to either give them a sense that somewhere along the line this massive buildout is going to be profitable aka amazon for years and years.

that -- nasty political are the are lake we find ourselves in today. >> well exactly. look, it was actually in october rally in minnesota and one of the supporters tried to claim that obama was an arab and john mccain said he's a decent family man citizen. and let me tell you something he got a heck of a lot of booze in that town hall but that's just how john mccain was. his differences with obama were policy based. they were not personal and un you're never going see at least right now a presidential nominee of either party go out there to defend their opponent because of the partisan major politics we're currently had. >>what do you make of the mierkt leader in the senate right now repghts to rename after john mccain. what do you think john mccain would think of that? >> i'm not so sure he would be proud that his -- political opponent chuck schumer would want to go to that length but john is someone who felt privilege in the way he lived and he wanted people to understand service to america and what it was he trieded to

give to america he's really about the country. not himself. >> he's going to leave a foreign policy void you know like i said -- top of the segment known as maverick but he never let up when it came to russia. he was posessed -- opposed to war with russia and troops overseas. he felt he seemed to me like internationalist to make sure our strength, military around the world was protecting other countries. do you think that void is going to be filled by anyone else in washington now that he's gone? >> look john mccain was a true statesman i think there will be a lot of people who will pick up the ball and there was somebody who used to travel with him all of the time who basically learned from john mccain and that was senator lindsey graham who continually always by john mccain's side. as he would travel the world and really check out what america's enemies were and who america allies were. >> real quick before i let you go. i wonder for he had any discussions with governor doocy of arizona about who should

possibly take the company private let's bring in dominic wealth advisors. we're going to -- good morning we're going to get to markets and gdp in a moment but let's kick off with tesla now there's a lot of questions about should elon musk be in charge. should he be running tesla. what do you say? >> look he basically created this -- he's going to continue running, and he controls most of the company, so that's not even going to be up for discussion but he can't keep doing what he just did and he's going to clean up his act a little bit. >> stock is down 4.5% on premarket as we can see on our screen let me ask you about things going on with markets. friday we have s&p, and nasdaq brand new records set because of frankly these dubbish comment from jay powell powered speech that gave seems to me all is well and doapght worry about aggressive rate hikes what do you take of it? >> things on horizon that has and could worry markets but he took one powell took one off the

table so they've -- looked at very controlled steady process here of raising interest rates, nothing seems to -- get away from that game plan, and i think we're looking at least one possibly two and it's what market was expecting, dubbish overall on inflation good news overall? >> the general thinking seems to be likely have one in september and then a good chance of a december hike as with correct? >> you can count september one in, basically embedded in. the one in december still kind of question mark here, but i think that depends more on go political events than does economic. >> trade tariffs with what they did discuss with minutes last week let's move on that could make a change, obviously, the tariffs fight with china. that's not going anywhere. the negotiations had no resolve of the issues from last week the lower level negotiations. wednesday we're going to get our first revision for the second quarter 4.1% in q2 but what do

you think market reaction would be if it was five lower? >> the first quarter actually was revised low and slightly so the markets didn't react very negatively to that. i wouldn't be surprised if the -- second quarter gets revised actually lower. hopefully keeps the forehand and 3-9 i don't think markets will react terribly to that. the third quarter is looking very positive and it looks like it will be at least in the three handle again. i think we're looking forward rather than looking backwards. >> good. i thought july personal income when we get employment reports every month you don't see wages picking up like i know a lot of folks would want to see. the front do you think personal income will be for july maybe more shaky and moving. >> it will affect markets look we've seen some increase in wages but a lot of people reentering the work force, and as much as new job creation numbers and spectacular month over month now people coming into work force sucking up some of that increase in wages also

>> what has north korea done to show that it is stopping its denuclearization? >> well, the good news is they have not conducted any additional nuclear tests or missile tests and haven't done any other highly provocative activity that's on the good side. other side of the ledger this is key is you can't denuclearize until you start with a complete and verifiable list of everything that you have, and north koreans have to deliver that up front. and they don't want to do that. >> what do you make of critics who say that president is flip noing on many issues and the north korea issue and i bring up the china aspect of this. he had tweeted on friday that -- china wases not helping on the issue with the denuclearization in north korea. but then one day later he told fox and friends this, take a listen. >> the reason i even waited was because of north korea because i wanted china's help otherwise i would have done it sooner and

china has been a big help and i hope they continue to be. >> what do you make of that? so >> i put everything that president says and tweets in the context of the overall policy and if you look at the overall u.s. policy, it's actually been very, very consistent. the demanding hasn't changed. it is -- north complete denuclearization, and the game hasn't changed had is administration said look we have maximum pressure on missile conventional and heavy sanctioning and that -- that pressure remains the same until the united states assured that they are on a clear path of denuclearization so actually within i think administration has been pretty consistent in its demands. >> do you think pompeo feels that his negotiating skill ises have been undercut here by the president? >> well i don't think they have. because i think the united states has been consistent in its goals and -- they have been sending messages

december. getting it nice and early for us this morning phil flynn a fox contradict tore a lot of tension fill. what's going on? >> there is, right now opec has to deal with the possibility of -- sanctions on iran, come november. and they really are try aring to prepare how they're going to deal with that on global marketplace. on one hand they don't want prices go too far out of control because if that happens, of course, it could slow the global economy. but at the same time iran is saying hey wait a second guys this is our market share, the sanctions are unfair. you're not supposed to be doing the bidding of the united states and if they put sanctions on us, we don't want you to raise production to take away our market share. >> yeah. well -- makes sense but here in the u.s. our production, our oil recount that has dropped the most since by back in 2016 what's going on? >> i think what's happening here is seeing bottleneck down in the
